Prompt Heavy snow had plagued Destiny City for a few days and it seemed to take ages for the clouds to clear. When they finally thinned, there was something more surprising than just the night sky: a glorious display of colorful light danced over Destiny City. A myriad of colors paint the sky, twisting colorfully. Auroras are uncommon in this area, but it’s something unique to see. Of course, ‘unique’ in Destiny City isn’t always a good thing…
It had been tasking enough to try to make it home from work while the snow flurried and fell outside, but as the fall term came to a close, Akio found himself happily taking refuge in his apartment from the bitter cold that had overtaken the outside world.
Well... semi-happily, at least.
All the snow had made trying to get together with his girlfriend all the more difficult. Not having a car meant facing the weather head on or taking the bus - neither of which were very kind to ears, noses and fingers when being forced to trudge along through nearly a foot's worth of snowfall.
So, when the snow had finally decided to stop, Akio had made the attempts to go out in search of the remaining Christmas presents on his list. As the sun set and the night sky spread out like a cloak across the city, the addition of colors upon colors lighting up the sky - instead of twinkling stars - caught his immediate attention.
What in the world...
Dropping off his packages at home, he didn't even allow himself time to thaw from the winter air before he was slamming his door and making his way down the stairwell. His phone surfaced from the depths of his pockets and he quickly stamped out a series of texts to his favorite person.
[To Dragon Princess: Taking you out tonight ]
[To Dragon Princess: Unless you have plans ]
[To Dragon Princess: (Please don't have plans) ]
As he flew around the corner outside of his building, he knew he probably should have asked. It was the gentleman thing to do, but he was far too excited than to waste such a perfect opportunity for what was clearly a meant to be romantic moment.

Snow meant that everything too longer to get to and from places which Rory didn't mind, much, except when she had opening shifts at the coffee shop. Every morning she spent at least thirty minutes making sure she was bundled up appropriately for the cold weather and she'd had to go to the store recently to pick up new sweater tights because she didn't do well with the cold.
Snow also mean that more people were stopping in for a nice hot beverage which meant work was busier and she was scheduled more hours than usual. The money was nice and tips were decent, with enough people feeling generous to actually tip if they didn't usually and to tip more if they did, so she couldn't complain because it meant that she could buy good christmas presents this year instead of trying to make a bunch of homemade things like the year before.
But...it meant less time with her boyfriend or even the few people she had in her little orbit.
So, when she got the text messages as she worked in the kitchen she was delighted. It'd been a few days and she missed her boyfriend terribly.

His boots and coat were still somehow covered in snow by the time he made it to the Willows' porch steps, but it didn't deter him from shaking off the clinging wetness and hop his way up the four steps towards her door.
.... the slippery steps, however, did give him more of a pause than he was expecting, gloved fingers suddenly finding solace in gripping the side rail as one foot went flying in a different direction.
It was a shame, really, that Akio Yoshida wasn't nearly as coordinated when it came to ice and snow as his wintry counterpart was. Then again, Aurora would probably be a little weirded out if a blonde man with elf ears made an appearance at her front door and asked to take her out for the evening.
Nah, she'd just have to deal with regular 'ol clumsy Akio.
Pulling his jacket tight around him with one hand, his free one reached out to press the doorbell, nose wiggling as he did his best to stay warm. It was going to be a night she'd hopefully remember for months (or even years!) to come, so he wasn't going to let anything - no cold nose, no slippery steps, nothing! - get in the way of his plans.

There was flour on her cheek, cookie dough on her nose, and an apron still tied around her front when the doorbell rang, timing perfectly with the ding! of the oven timer. Hurriedly she pulled her last cookie sheet out and set it atop the stove, barely glancing to check if the cookies were in a passable state before she was leaving them behind, socked feet sliding across the wooden floor until she got to the door.
She looked ecstatic to see him, breathlessly smiling with a heaving chest as she looked at him.
"Hey handsome," she managed, already scooting forward to steal a kiss before trying to usher him inside. "Gotta just put these away and we can go, sorry, doing some last minute baking for gifts."
She had more money this year than usual, but she liked to leave bags of cookies for the neighbors and for some of her co-workers.
Glancing up at him her cheeks flushed. "I missed you."

Her sweetly disheveled state had him grinning at the sight of her, Akio's head automatically tilting down to catch the kiss she offered up to him. As she pulled him inside the cozy little apartment, his arm reached out to collect her waist and tug the small woman up against him.
“I missed you too,” he assured her, eyes drifting from hers to fall upon the glob of cookie dough resting on the tip of her nose. One thumb moved up to brush it aside as he shook his head. “How do you even manage to get it there?”
Popping his thumb into his mouth, he sucked off the sweetness as long legs carried him further into the Willows’ abode. The home felt especially warmer than usual but he had a feeling the heat was in thanks to the oven being abused by his cute little baker of a girlfriend.
“Mmmm. Tastes divine, angel. You going to save me some?”

She had to stretch onto her tip toes to kiss him but when she sunk back down, Rory looked serene and happy. "It's a mystery," she replied, grinning brightly at him despite being forced to walk backward as he walked further into the apartment. His cheeks were red from the cold and she couldn't help but reach up and press her palms against either side of his face in hopes that she could warm them.
"I just pulled the last pan from the oven when you got here, bet they're still gooey and warm." Her hand reached for his, threading their fingers together before she tugged him around the counter and into the little nook that made up the small kitchen.
Rory let go long enough to fish a fresh cookie off the pan and held it up to his mouth.
"Of course I'm going to save you some dummy," she scolded, playfully. "Where are you taking me tonight?"

Warm hands enveloped his frozen cheeks, Akio unable to do anything but grin as she stared up at him, even as she struggled to back-walk her way to the kitchen. Much smaller feet had to play catch up to keep up with his longer strides, not that he made it easier on her - no, she was far too cute trying to scurry her way back, up until the point where she took his hand and tugged him the rest of the way into the kitchen.
The scent truly was divine, his lack of lunch apparent by the way his stomach growled in reaction to the smells of the Willows' often-used kitchen. Aurora's hard work was displayed out on the cooling racks, a tempting distraction for even the strongest of dieters.
Lucky for Akio, he had no diet to concern himself with.
One hand reached for a cookie but she'd already beat him to it, raising one up to his mouth for inspection. He opened his lips in a heartbeat, taking in the cookie - and then some - letting the edges of his lips run over the warm fingers that had offered the sweet treat. He took his time, as if pretending it was an accidental kiss, before making a point to chew the warm sweet, flavor bursting in his mouth.
"Sweet, but I've had sweeter," he mused aloud after swallowing, stepping forward to wrap his arms around his tiny girlfriend and tug her closer. "Namely, you."
And with that cheesy line, he promptly kissed her before she had the chance to pout.
He took his time with the kiss before pulling back, brushing his nose against hers as he explained quietly, "Thought we could do some ice skating and maybe something afterwards? There's something I need you to see, my beautiful little baker."

Jade eyes widened when a warm mouth slid over her fingers, a small squeak leaving the suddenly startled girl when he cheeks flushed a dark red. "A-akio!" She tried to push him back with her other hand but instead only curl into the front of his shirt.
"D-dummy," she stutters, gaze dropping when she bites her lips. She can feel her heart humming in her chest and she can't hide the giddiness she feels at the way he treats her.
His kiss tasted like chocolate and she giggled when he pulled away. "Okay," she murmured, eyes half-closed as she rubbed her nose against his in an eskimo kiss. "Just need to put," she paused to kiss him again, wrapping her arms around his neck to draw him down to her height, "everything away and we can go."

He could spend the entire evening kissing his beautiful girlfriend but Akio knew he needed to pace himself - no sense in scaring off his flustered beauty, not when they had a proper date night ahead of them that they'd been denied for far too long now.
"Can I help?" He offered, eyeing the other cookie pans and trays that were laid about in various spots. What better way to sneak another cookie or two but under the guise of being helpful?
In the distance he heard a low, lazy mrowwwwwww, but no cat of any kind surfaced into the kitchen, thankfully. Just another cue for them to leave, before one of the possessive creatures of Aurora's decided to wedge their way into his evening with his beloved.
Hands reached out to collect the nearest dishes, stacking the dirty ones in the sink while organizing the cleaner looking ones off to another side. The cookies continued to call to him but he behaved.... for now.

Reluctantly, Rory pulled back and busied herself with collecting the Tupperware from drawer she kept them in. Neatly stacking them on the counter she glanced over to her already helpful boyfriend who was collecting all of her dirty dishes. She had meant to clean as she went but she'd gotten to swept up in things to be as efficient as she wanted.
"That would be perfect," she replied distractedly, plucking the coolest cookies off of the racks to organize them as neatly in the containers as possible, since she didn't want to squish them.
Between the two of them things were mostly cleaned up quickly and she made it a point to leave a few out for her boy's consumption.
Stacking containers a top each other she turned back to her boyfriend, carefully taking her apron off and setting on the counter. "Do I need to change or is this okay?"

She managed to catch him with a mouth full of warm, wonderful sweetness and he offered her a sheepish grin as he worked to swallow the large bite he was currently working on. Eyes watched her settle the apron on the counter and he gave her attire an appreciative gaze, mouth finally freeing itself of the half-cookie it practically inhaled.
"I dunno what you normally prefer to skate in, beautiful - I'd be happy to keep you warm out on the ice, but you may want to add a scarf or so, depending on how rosy those cheeks of yours get."
Plus for an evening out staring at the auroras she hopefully wasn't aware about... he definitely wanted her snuggled up and warm. What better way to spend a romantic night together?
He tugged on his own scarf for emphasis, his gloves still stuffed away in the pocket of his jacket. They'd remain there for a moment - after all, he still had one... two... three more cookies to demolish before he was ready to make his way out the door.
On that note, the first of the remaining three was quickly crunched down on. "Better hurry though - bet there'll be a crowd out, now that the snow's eased up."

Rory couldn't even be upset that he was snarfing down a stolen cookie but she pretended to be disappointed, getting far enough to shake her head at him even if she couldn't hide the smile on her lips. It was what she thought was a hungry look in his eye that had her cheeks growing rosy and she fussed with the hem of dress's skirt while she waited for his answer.
"Um, this is probably fine?" She answered uncertainly, worried that maybe it didn't cover enough or that it wasn't warm enough.
"It's been a long time since I've gone skating," she admitted, failing to recall exactly when the last time had been. Probably some school related field trip in grade school, if that.
Most of the time she had to sit out of those, especially if they required extra funds because they just couldn't afford it.
"I have a scarf hanging by the door, I can wear that," she assured him, moving onto her tiptoes for a sweet kiss. "Let me just put my boots on." With that she hurried off to do so.

He was in the process of swallowing the remains of the cookie in his mouth when she tip-toed her sweet self upwards for a kiss before disappearing from the room. Akio knew he should probably have been more mindful (or at the very least helpful) when it came to inspecting her outfit but truth be told, he wasn't positive he could focus on anything without always returning to those beautiful jade eyes that looked up at him or those soft, slightly chapped lips that all but demanded to be kissed to the point of swelling.
Shaking his head at himself, he leaned over towards the doorway and called out after her, "I think you look gorgeous as you are!"
The second cookie was devoured as quickly as the first but the third was savored for a little while longer than the prior sweets, the tall young man slowly making his way out of the kitchen towards the living room.
He probably could have dressed himself a little warmer too but with soft little hands to keep his warm and a bright, beautiful smile to keep his attention occupied, he wasn't worried.
Hell, if anything, he was excited.
"I haven't skated since probably last year - no making fun of me for slipping up." Pausing, he grinned up at the stairs as he passed them, "Well, no making fun of me unless you want to be taken down with me, that is."

Rory had changed completely, deciding that she didn't want to wear what she'd been baking in. It took some digging before she found a long enough blouse that skirted the tops of her thighs to wear beneath the sweater dress her father had splurged to get her for Christmas. Her tights were exchanged for fleece lined leggings, ones she'd picked up with tip money from the cafe, and her boots were pulled on and laced up easily.
She dipped into the bathroom to make sure she had no more cookie residue on her face and that her hair was suitable before she was grabbing her scarf and bounding down the stairs to where her boyfriend awaited.
"I won't make fun of you, dummy," she teased, playfully rolling her eyes when she booped his nose. "You're gonna have to teach me how to skate, I don't remember how to any more."
Even if she did, she wanted to have a movie moment. "Come on, before we get caught up in something else."

Arms immediately move to encircle around the vision in turquoise and fleece, his smile unwavering as one little finger moved up to press against the tip of his nose. He resisted the urge to chase after the finger with his lips - there would be plenty of time for more kisses later, once they finally managed to make it out of the apartment.
Then again, a night in with cookies, milk and Netflix could be a wonderful recipe for a cuddlefest on the couch....
No, no - they'd both been stuck up in their homes for too long, thanks to the snow, and it was about time they got out in public and had some proper fun together.
"We'll relearn together," he agreed cheerfully, one hand reluctantly leaving her to turn and open the front door. The surprise that lit up the night sky with colors upon colors was waiting to be discovered and Akio selfishly wanted to be the first to see her reaction upon noticing the change up above.
Ushering her outside, he commented innocently, "Looks like even the stars are happy to see us out and about tonight, beautiful."
