There were many things she learned while learning to live on her own. Having to fend for herself, learning how to keep warm without pack mates at her side, the ability to withstand the quiet...The list could go on for days. However; what she could never improve, no matter how hard she tried--- was her terrible sense of smell.

It had landed her in multiple predicaments. Much like right now.

Faelan's eyes closed as she tried to focus on sniffing the air. The wolf could have sworn she saw a rabbit dart into the trees of the northern wood. But where----. She squeezed her eyes tight as she got some sort of scent. There was something there. Something familiar. Her paws moved forward two steps in trepidation, feet making noise as it sunk into the bitterly cold snow, hackles raised.

Was it the rabbit? Her eyes opened to look. But---not a living thing could be seen. ********> Her ears went back as a cold chill swept through, along with it, an ill feeling washed over her. It felt as if her heart was in her paws.

Her breathing quickened. Maybe she should go.

Salem had finally found her. His mate. Why the female ran away from him, he didn’t know. It frustrated him. It angered him. He didn’t understand it. Why she ran away from him. Sure… he had made a mistake so long ago. But he really didn’t see why it was such a big deal. It certainly wasn’t a reason to run from him.

But finally, he found her. He would never forget her scent, was sure he could be elderly or dead and still catch her scent. A wicked grin passed his face, paws softly stepping. Finally, he caught sight of her.

And she was just as marvelous as the day she left. He was quite proud. But he quickly dropped his grin. He was still angry, angry that she left him. ”Hello Fae,” he practically purred, moving towards the female.

Nope. Nada. Nuh- uh. No siree. Not today. Never again.

Her body tensed, tail flat against her hind but not tucked. No, she would never tuck her tail in between her legs for such a vile, incompetent beast of a man. She had moved passed that. Had found her way in life. Salem would only take all of that away from her. She was done with a subservient life. She was better than that

Yet, the female still backed up a step, her eyes going towards the male. Never moving. Seems like he didn't change much. She growled. No way was she going back to the likes of him and what he was like.

"I'm sorry, you must be mistaken." There was no sincerity in her tone. Her voice was as firm and as low as it could go. She needed to go. To somehow out run him. She looked towards the trees from the left and right. Was his pack of fiends with him? Was running worth a shot?
