get ready for a showstopper!
Name: Fern Florence Lynn Nickname: FF, Effie, and if you give her any other nickname she won't be happy.
Hobbies: Medical Horror: Fern was trying to research for this science project, she promises, but then she got onto all these weird unsolved murder cases and oh man did you hear about the Belford Dolphin incident??? Fern is in love with weird, terrible things happening to people's bodies, or unsolved murder cases; they don't gross her out at all, and she loves to research it. After all, with the advance of science, that just means more crazy things happen to people that we can finally explain! She'll jump at the opportunity to talk about them with other people, if you even express the slightest what might be interpreted as interest.
Terrible Crimes: Elisabeth Fritzl? Junko Furuta? Effie loves that stuff. The depths of human depravity are impossible and disgusting, yes, but the more you distance it and treat it like fiction-in-IRL the more okay it is. It's a bit of an interest in psychology, and a bit of interest on what HAPPENED to these people and how they survived - or didn't survive - the terrible things done to them. Like, oh my gosh, have you heard about the 1999 Hello Kitty murder? That stuff is CRAZY. She tends to prefer actual crimes, and is a member of several internet forums as a popular poster and theorizer on the cause-and-effect behind them.
Rhythm Games: Not so much DDR -- Fern trips over her own feet with that -- but if she has free time, she's playing rhythm games. Project Diva, Pop'n Music, Guitar Hero, even Love Live on occasion: her fingers can move like lightning, and her head will bob to the beat. It's not the music that gets her, it's the gameplay; any mistake is her own error, and god, does she ever love that. She competes in competitions occasionally; she rarely ranks exceptionally high, but 30 bucks here and there is nothing to sniff at.
Virtues: In-Tune: Effie knows her own body exceedingly well, and she can tell when she's hurt or if her emotions are out of whack. She's good at noticing when other people are Not Okay, too, and she goes a little too far she doesn't mean to - she likes to make sure people are Good And Well. She knows when people are hurting. When they react a little off, when their voice hitches too fast. She's perceptive. This extends to both physical/mental well-being!
Big Sister Instinct: You see these kids? These are her kids, her friends, and if anyone touches them they'll have Fern to deal with. Fern cares very deeply about her friends if they love her back. She loves her friends deeply and more powerfully than she loves anything else, after all. Effectively, Fern's a guard dog for anyone she cares about: even if it only extends so far as how people benefit her, even the most selfish person has people she likes. If she likes being around you, why should she let you go or get hurt?
Flaws: Drama Queen: Every minor health problem Effie has means that she is developing a FATAL DISEASE. Her health's never been great, but it took a major hit around puberty, when she developed a lot of deficiencies: and when you spend a couple years in-and-out of the doctor's office, you start to get a little paranoid. What actual problems she has are generally either minor and easily compensated for with medication or pass quickly, but WHAT IF the pain she has in her back RIGHT NOW means she has a burst disk??? What if she's going to be CRIPPLED FOR LIFE?? Every bad thing that happens to Fern is the WORST POSSIBLE THING EVER. A 79 on a test? She's going to FAIL OUT OF SCHOOL. It's gotta be about her, and everything that happens is as bad as it can possibly be.
Self-Centered: Second verse, same as the first; it's not that Fern necessarily means to be self-centered, it's just...somehow every conversation she participates in loops back to be around her. She can talk about herself for hours without ever actually saying too much, and she doesn't necessarily mean to downplay your problems, but oh man did you hear about something she's interested in? WILD, that. If she doesn't like you, well you're not important and you can go get pneumonia five times over for all she's interested...but the moment you insult something she likes, she will have a GIGANTIC FIT, like the drama queen she is. Everything is about Fern, Fern, Fern -- and she supposes you're important to, if she cares about you, but only inasmuch as you like her back.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Winged eyeliner, but color otherwise CC. Should be very striking. Wears a pair of rimless metallic glasses with rectangular lenses.
Hair: About shoulder-length; straight as a pin, with barrettes pinning back bangs and a small braid on the side. Dirty blonde.
Face: Lightly tanned, with a sprinkling of freckles and just the barest amount of lip liner.
Clothes: 100% preppy; think this or this. No particular color preference, but she likes to add a lot of clunky jewelry and occasionally accentuate with fifth-grade-weeaboo accessories.

Anyone entering/caught inside the 'cloud' will experience difficulty seeing until they're removed from its' radius -- like they put on a pair of glasses that weren't theirs. Sailor Desdemona can use this attack twice per battle.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Cut to Black! Calling her attack, Sailor Desdemona claps her hands and points at a spot -- a eight-by-eight cube, centering on that spot, is suddenly filled with a thick black soot. Anyone entering/caught inside the 'cloud' will experience severe difficulty seeing, rendering them unable to do little but pick out silhouettes, until they're removed from its' radius. Sailor Desdemona can use this attack twice per battle.
Eternal Sailor Attack: Desdemona Backstage Blackout! Sailor Desdemona calls the name of her attack and snaps her fingers, and for 30 seconds, all sources of light in a ten-foot radius around her cease to function as a thick black soot appears to emanate from her -- the sun goes dark, lights turn off, magic doesn't glow -- effectively blanketing her in a moving blackout that centers on her. Sailor Desdemona is the only person who can see perfectly through this magical darkness; however, if she attacks an enemy, the darkness will release regardless of whether the duration has expired. Sailor Desdemona can use this attack once per battle.

past life!
desdemona is one of uranus' moons and a member of the portia group of satellites, which also includes juliet, bianca, cressida, portia, rosalind, cupid, belinda, and perdita.
historically, sailors desdemona and juliet were known to be very close throughout all of their lives, although the environments and cultures of the two moons might as well have been complete opposites. when haizea/sailor juliet disappeared (later found on elsa but refusing to return), sailor desdemona fell into a deep depression for many years, knowing her feelings had never been returned in the first place but having still wished for success in the engagement.
think bioshock crossed with industrialism and steampunk. heavy focus on performative self-expression.
