Vosin let out a whoop as they burst out into the skies above Western Weyr. Her mission had been another success and she'd returned with a new candidate for the weyr. She was pretty pleased with them. They weren't just another pretty face around the weyr.

She could feel the man's grip on her belt tighten instinctively. While she knew he was belted down securely, it was just a reaction that couldn't be helped. Vos grinned to herself. Do be a dear and let A'ral know.

Killakeeth trumpeted her arrival at the good feelings from her rider when they came out of between. She dipped her wings to the watchrider as she swept past. A'ral, I have a new candidate for you. We'll meet you at the usual place. After a moment's pause the gold added, he might need some supplies, or someone sent back for his stuff. He came light. The dragon began circling to come in for a graceful landing.

If he'd realized he'd be going back with this crazed rider, he might have waited for the next dragon. Omurntas couldn't help the tightening of his hands around the woman's broad belt as the dragon leaned precariously side to side. Were all riders like this or just this one? He faintly heard her voice the call as they came out, and most certainly heard and felt the gold give voice.

While he was slightly nervous, he also had a good view from up here. Omurntas ran a critical eye over the ground looking for crops or orchards. There didn't seem like much. It looked like he'd have his work cut out for him. That was completely fine by him. The dragon now seemed to be focusing on one spot and coming in to land.

Had anyone, at any other Weyr, observed the return of a Gold Searchrider, they might have thought themselves in another reality. At Western, however, it was quite ordinary. And why shouldn't a queen and her rider fill that role? They had as good instincts as any other pair. Zinath stirred from her place beside Junenth, trumpeting a greeting to Killakeeth.

The gold spoke directly to A'ral, who looked up from his task of grading papers. Zinath, please tell Killakeeth that we will be ready for them when they arrive. As he couldn't speak directly to the dragon, he trusted that she would serve, pro tem. We await your arrival, Zinath said, distantly aware that A'ral had gotten up to go to the meeting place. What would this new Candidate bring?

Killakeeth returned Zinath's greetings. How is your day Zinath? I hope it has been as good as mine. Despite her bulk, she swept in for a graceful landing. A cloud of dust did billow up as she back-winged to slow herself then let her feet touch the ground. With a soft sigh, she settled back down to the earth and flipped her wings primly to her back. She craned her neck around to regard her passengers. Privately she thought the man looked a little green around the gills. It was amusing.

Vosin unstrapped herself, and then turned to help her passenger. "That wasn't so bad was it?" She asked cheerfully, turning her head slightly to keep an eye out for the candidatemaster. Vos got Omurn free from the straps and then got his one small bag. She slid down the foreleg of the gold with practiced ease and turned to gesture him down next. "Come on down."

Omurntas felt that his stomach had been left somewhere far behind. He really hoped the other riders weren't like her. He swallowed hard and looked around as she worked him free of the restraining straps. It was nice in its own way, he decided. It wasn't home, but it was nice. He raised a brow as she simply slid down a front leg to the ground. It was at least a ten foot drop, perhaps a bit more if he was any judge. Sure he'd climbed trees before, but this?

He inched his way down, sorry that he was stepping on the dragon's skin. Perhaps sliding down would have been better. She didn't seem to be in any pain though. Once safely down, he bowed to the gold. "Thank you for the ride. I think." He had a faint tickle of doubt now that he was here. "Ok. What next?" He looked around curiously, watching those people walking by.
