Since helping to welcome her first ever hunter to Deus just a little while ago, Gabby's demeanor during pod duty had done a complete 180. Whenever she learned that she got a shift in the pod room she would sort of bounce-giggle in celebratory fashion wherever she was at for a few seconds, and then sprint to her shift to make sure she didn't miss anything. Granted, since the last time she helped someone wake up the shifts had gotten almost extra quiet. But she'd also done more to make things at least a little bit interesting while she was there.
Today, for instance, she was going around to all the pods and peeking in on the various occupants, in part to satisfy her curiosity and in part because she was really, really, really hoping someone would wake up.Steal Finally! Hehe~ Sorry for the wait.

He had no way of knowing how long he had been in the pod. No way of knowing what was happening to him while he was in there. So it was a bit of a shock when his eyes started to open slowly, his mind clearing from whatever hazy effects remained of what made the trainees sleep. Jesse's eyes tried to focus, even as his body felt sensations flowing back to his limbs. First a twitch to his fingers, then a slow clenching of one fist. What was going on? Instinct had him wanting to panic, but years of dealing with animals and risky situations allowed him to force his body to relax again. Assess, then react, there was a reason he was like this. So he waited eyes open breathing calm until someone noticed him.

It was the hissing that got her attention and had her sprinting in its direction, her hopes for a more eventful duty starting to look more and more like it'd become a reality. It was a small hope, really, but one she had for herself as well as the person that was now joining Deus's ranks in a more...useful...capacity. She came to a skidding stop when she finally found the right row, and she beamed at the open pod as she speed walked over.
"Hello?" she greeted, slowing down a little so as not to overwhelm whoever it was. With the silence that followed the hiss she was, now that she had slowed down enough to really assess the situation, concerned that it had just been some kind of malfunction.

Jesse's grey eyes opened, the color of faded jeans under a beating sun. He looked up at the woman above him and realized this was serious. He was awake. He bet he stunk or something, being in a pod was likely not the most sanitary situation. He took a few more breaths before attempting to sit up. Yeah, blood rushed to his head making him a bit dizzy. No surprise, it was like being laid up after a cow kick or something. No rushing or you would be on the floor. Next step, try your voice. "Hello Ma'am.." Yup that worked, scratchy like gravel on hardpan but functioning. Good. He looked around himself as he waited for the blood in his body to go back where it was needed, instead of being in his feet and back. He was awake again, but he could hardly remember where he was, or why he was here. It was like waking up in a sci-fi novel.

Gabby did her best not to squee because someone did wake up, and they weren't dead or anything like that--she'd heard that that could happen, too. Which was something she hoped she would never have to experience, but she wasn't sure it was exactly avoidable given she didn't exactly get to pick when the pods opened or when the occupants woke up. But when he spoke she did clap her hands a little bit and bounced in an over-excited manner before offering him a hand for whenever he decided to step out of the pod.
"Hi! I'm Gabby! Welcome to Deus, newbie. What's your name? Do you remember it at all? If not, what's the last thing you remember and we can go from there!"

Jesse couldn't help but let his lips twitch in a slight smile at her excitement and energy. She seemed like a pleasant young lady who wanted things to go well. He shifted a little, stretching out lean muscles before taking her hand and kissing the back of it lightly on his way out of the pod. "I remember, my name is Jesse Cooper, Jess or Coop to friends, unless they want to come up with something else." He stood on the floor, reorienting to gravity and his blood flowing right. "Thank you Miss Gabby." Newbie, he was amused by that. She had to be years younger than him, but that was the way things went, To this place he was the new hand, the one just in from the city to get in the way. Last thing he remembered. A long ride. "I was riding trail, got to my last site and things went ti- er.. bad." (tits up, not something to say to a lady) "Something had attacked, and, well yeah it just went down hill from there." He shrugged.

The kiss was unnerving, but thankfully all the good energy from something going her way (that is, someone waking up) was enough to offset the weirded out part of that experience. Still, when she took her hand back she could help wipe the spot off non-too-subtly on her shorts. She waited, still smiling, for him to finally answer her questions, nodding along the entire time.
"I see! I was hoping that last memory would be something nicer, but oh well. Either way now you're at Deus and that life's long behind you! Now that you're up, do you have any questions for me? I could give you a quick rundown of what's going and stuff, if you're curious, or I could just show you where to go next. Your pick, Jesse."

Jesse was mildly amused at seeing her wipe the back of her hand off as if he had spat on her rather than kissed her hand. It was fine, he should have thought that through, she may have been offended so he spoke softly. "Forgive me, I was taught to treat ladies politely and that a kiss on the hand is better than just a nod." He then looked around. "I need a bit of time before I just wander off, so if you would be so kind as to let me know where we are and what I am supposed to do that would be wonderful." He looked about for a place to sit down a moment, before realizing that the best he had was to sit on the side of the pod. He was here cause something went bad, he knew that but what in the world was here anyway?
