The halls of the large mansion were decorated with fir and holly and tinsel of gold and silver. Durumi had done everything she could think was normal for christmas. She was still suffering from the violence that the mirrors had left on her.
Somedays she would search out in the mirrors in her house and it took everything she had to not climb back in and remain disappeared for long times at end. Magiore continued days of draining her until she was weak and complaint again.
Christmas though....Christmas was normal. And Tatsuya was living with them now and she wanted them to be normal and everything. So she decorated for christmas and she made dinner and played music.
"Magiore." She touched her lover and then over to Tatsuya. "What do you think?"

Tatsuya knew things were not exactly normal. He'd seen the way she'd linger at mirrors, how Magiore had to weaken her. Yet, Durumi was trying, and he could see that as well. He smiled at her, a reserved little expression he'd adopted since finding her among the mirror scape. He still had... feelings he had to sort out and find his place in the household. He rubbed his forearms absentmindedly - another habit he'd picked up - before speaking.
"It's lovely, Durumi. You did wonderful work," he replied, glancing at Magiore for a moment. There was a sort of friendship growing between the two men, he thought. Or at least, a mutual endeavor to care for the woman behind them, and keep her safe from herself.

The continual draining was tiring, but Magiore would have done that and far more in order to keep Durumi from falling prey to that blackness again. He had taken leave of work in order to make sure that he could keep an eye on her for the time being; and besides that, it was the holidays. They had each other and they had Tatsuya, who, while Magiore was wary of at first, had slowly started to appreciate a little more as time passed. It wasn't an easy process, considering that Magiore was not the sort of man who made friends easily, but still; it was rather nice, having someone to fall back on.
And Tatsuya clearly cared very deeply for Durumi, which was important. All three of them were now setting the table for dinner, Magiore setting a pan of mashed potatoes down beside the spot where the turkey would go. He straightened and slid an arm around Durumi's waist, bending to press a light kiss to her temple.
"It looks beautiful," he said, giving her a smile before his gaze flickered over to Tatsuya, and for once the smile remained, however small it was. "It's very nice. Did we want to get the rest of the plates set? I'm starving."

The kiss was returned back to her lover, pressing lips against his cheek before her gaze turned to Tatsuya. Tatsuya, who had become a dark mirror while she had been in mirrorspace, tucked in the safe pocket.
She regretted that she had not been there to help her brother of sorts, and so she was going to do the best she could. Even, as she stared at the pretty table,
and the pretty table decorations and the pretty setting, when she wanted to destroy it all and let loose.
Her hands clenched painfully tight in her christmas dress, a pretty red and white and festive gold. She did her best to unclench them, to not let the chaos that had been poisoning her and that Magiore had tiredlessly removed every night to get rid of.
"Can you just give me one moment? I want to take a picture of my family." She smiled but it was small and thin and she really wanted to step away so she didn't ruin the normal moment they were having. "I'll be right back!"

Tatsuya frowned a little at her, noticing the tightening of her fingers and the light in her eyes. His sister of sorts, who he had not been able to help as much as he wished he could have. It pained him to see her in pain and struggling, but there was little he could do, except being a steady rock for both her and Magiore.
"Of course, sister. This is our first holiday together, after all. We should commemorate it," he replied, giving a glance to the other man for a moment. A simple warning glance, one mostly of concern. "Then we will eat, and I will get the tea."
He would do his part to make sure everything was 'normal'.

Magiore's gaze flickered downwards to Durumi's hands, then back up to her face, offering her a faint smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.The arm that he'd tucked around her waist rose, fingers gently and tenderly smoothing a few stray strands of pale hair away from her face.
"Hurry back," he said, and let go, but his blue eyes had moved towards Tatsuya, catching the look in the other man's eyes; it was becoming easier, little by little, to start reading him, to have these wordless conversations without needing to speak in actual sentences. It was useful, and a little unusual, perhaps, because he wasn't used to it; but it was also necessary.
Magiore stepped towards Tatsuya as Durumi slipped free, reaching for the cup of tea that he had let sit on the table, lifting it to his mouth and taking a small sip.
"Well?" he said, voice low. "What do you think?"

Durumi smiled weakly as she walked away and she walked in a room further away from the boys. She immediately went to the vanity, something she set up a long time ago for guest. A small room decorated by books and the vanity with a small chair.
Her hands slammed down on top, as she stared down at them. In her eyes,
she saw black, spreading, tainting her fingers, all the way to her hands. She shoved at them, wiping at them.
"No no no." She closed her eyes, "It's not real, It's not here. It's already been drained." She breathed out. Breathed in.
Breath out.
Breath in.
"It's not real." The sound of the mirror cracking. She needed to go back.

Tatsuya rubbed the abnormally tan skin of his arms, an idle motion he did when anxious. When powered up, his fuku covered most of the black marks from fingertips to elbows, a remnant of Pandora's box. It had yet to fade, and he wondered if it would ever fade completely. Yet it was a reminder of events and of the darkness he'd chosen for her.
He picked up his own teacup and held it at his mouth for a moment. "She is... trying. She is trying very hard. Yet... I see the cracks, I see the look in her eyes. I am worried," he said, his voice low. He sipped his tea. "I am worried she is going to break under her own desire for it to be normal again."

He had had the same fear, but putting a name to it made a small shiver run through Magiore's chest, an icy cold that seemed to seep into his bones. A part of him wanted to dismiss Tatsuya's words, wanted to somehow disprove them, but that wouldn't do anyone any good, and especially not Durumi. She needed them, and he could not do anything if he didn't force himself to face the facts of what was happening.
"We'll have to take it slowly," said Magiore at length, lowering his cup after another swallow. Steam rose in gentle curls towards his face, which held an arrested look, rare for someone as stoic and calm as Magiore tended to be. "I think as well, we should be straightforward. There's no sense in sugarcoating anything. This is how it is, and we have to face it."
The faintest of smiles touched his lips, just barely, before disappearing again.
"All three of us," Magiore said, then exhaled a breath, lips pressing together. "I'm grateful to you for staying with us for all of this time, she needs the support and you have done nothing but take her well being into mind, so...I'm glad you're here, Tatsuya."
It felt strange to say, especially considering that Magiore was relatively certain he'd never said any words of thanks towards Durumi's closest friend in all the years they'd known each other. But it was, at least, entirely sincere. Magiore set his cup of tea down on the table, fingers pressing briefly against the hard surface, smoothing along the grain of the wood.
"We should check on her," he said.

Within moments of Maigore saying that, Durumi was returning. One hand was wrapped carefully and the other was carting the old school camera. "I couldn't find it at first." She lied, literally as easily as she could before looking at them both. "Wait don't move." She took a picture of them, there.
Both of them normal, sipping tea like long lost friends. Like it was something they did all the time.
She wondered how close they had gotten after she had been trapped. She hadn't been there for Hydrus's corruption and that broke her heart, but Magiore had been here...
Had they looked for her together? Or had they just enjoyed tea together. had they even cared.
Months. She had been gone months.
"So...dinner?" She smiled at them, looking into the kitchen.
