Name: A'ye
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Weyrbrat/Candidate

Physical Description: A'ye is attractive, even by Pern standards, but more or less has a personality that doesn't allow him to see it as such. With dark, blackish-brown hair and blue eyes, he is lithe...and small. Short, by comparison to some at a less than stellar 5' 6", he tends to blend in and out of crowds easy enough; thanks to his choice of wearing his hair simple and clean, he can walk among others and keep his proverbial head down and out of trouble.

He has very few noticeable scars, save for childhood cuts and scrapes about his knees and elbows, and thanks to living in High Reaches his flesh is on the pale, yet healthy side. A'ye prefers to wear simple clothing in dusky or drab colors....though he does have a fondness for very good boots and belts. Closer inspection upon him reveals his shoes and belts to be of a far superior quality than any of his other clothes.

Personality: If you're not really looking for him, or at him even, it's hard to notice A'ye. Soft-spoken, yet not to the point of selective muteness or painful shyness, he spends him time listening rather than speaking for a lack of better things to say. Not very opinionated unless it directly challenges his beliefs, A'ye is content to let the crowds around him speak while he learns new things and catches up on old; he's not a gossip, per say, but it's much easier to keep your place in your Wing and in the Weyr if you know where you happen to stand. The type to hold conversations with those he is most comfortable with, it takes a bit more effort than usual to get A'ye to properly speak his mind, and even then it's usually restrained and polite. Very seldom does he yell, and even more rarely does he cry

Raised to believe, and follow, the hierarchy system of High Reaches, A'ye doesn't consider himself worth much outside of being as good of a rider as he possibly can. Extremely aware of his situation and status, anyone who holds any rank above A'ye is treated with a distant but polite amount of deference, and even those who are fellow green riders are treated by him as though they ranked much further up the list. While more comfortable with crafters or those in creche, A'ye honestly considers himself on a more equal standpoint with them, but not to where he thinks them his betters - he wouldn't be much a rider were he not able to know he was worth something. A'ye knows he has a purpose and a value, just perhaps not as great as everyone else. He gets along best with children and people younger than him, though perhaps that is all thanks to his mother's influence.

One of A'ye's "special talents" is his ability to adapt to most any situation, and during that situation to keep calm no matter what is going on. Unwavering to the point of stability, it takes quite a lot to actually fluster or upset him (which partly caused the bullying - people want to see people react!) and his tolerance for dealing with problems that would normally unease or raffle others is very high. With no problems following orders and changing his routine last minute, it is fairly easy to count on A'ye to fix a problem (to the best of his abilities, and authority) or to leave him with jobs that cause large amounts of stress. He doesn't particularly mind doing troublesome things, or dealing with troublesome people, and as a result can be counted on in some measure.

Of course, being counted on has its problems when someone is being overly used and manipulated, but A'ye has an issue seeing things that way and can easily be taken advantage of. Hand-waving off any problems as 'no big deal' or 'I don't mind' has landed him in trouble any times before, and his approach to his dragon's attitude towards others is much the same. He knows she doesn't mean anything by her actions, but it's hard to explain that to someone who was put off by a dragon maybe, just maybe, getting in their way when they needed to get somewhere.

Positive Trait List extremely patient, adaptable, steadfast
Negative Trait List soft-spoken, lack of self-confidence, nonchalant

History: Born and raised in High Reaches, A'ye (then known as Ailoye) is a thoroughbred Weyrbrat, were such a thing possible. With a mother who acted as a foster to many children of riders, Ailoye grew up with many older and younger brothers and sisters, allowing him to become comfortable with crowds yet at the same time....become a masterful target for bullying. Due to his unassuming and shy nature it was easy enough to taunt and occasionally physically harass the young man, and hardly ever did he speak up or move to defend himself. If asked what happened he'd mumble that he deserved it, or that he couldn't recall what happened or who did it, and so months of bullying easily turned to Turns.

Upon reaching the general age when weyrbrats are expected to, or welcomed to, join the candidacy for eggs, Ailoye accepted the challenge. His mother often spoke fondly of dragonriders, as did pretty much everyone else in the Weyr, and so with a hope that maybe Impressing a dragon might change some of his fortunes, or at least make him actual friends, he stepped onto the sands alongside many of his foster brothers and sisters.

After several unsuccessful hatchings, and with Ailoye having reached his 21st turn, the young man didn't expect to stand for much longer and was preparing to focus more on helping his mother with her tasks and chores. He didn't personally mind, as he liked children (they were generally kinder to him), and his mother liked the helped, so by the time the next hatching came around Ailoye decided it would be his last to stand, provided the Candidatemaster allowed him. With a decent sized clutch and an even more decent group of candidates, Ailoye felt his chances were slim enough that he could successfully stand behind others when the cracking of shells began and the choir of dragon voices filled the air. As more and more dragonets hatched and went to theirs, the familiar yet unwelcome feeling of being left behind began to fill Ailoye's mind, until one particular egg on the far side of the sands split itself apart. A tiny green spilled onto the sands, wings askew and eyes blazing red, and though her roar could be considered adorable by those much older and much larger, to Ailoye it was terrifying.

Even more terrifying was her sudden turn in his direction, a sharp swing of her head that forced her body to follow as she barreled a path straight for him. Anyone in her way, be it shell or candidate or another dragonet, was shoved in her desire to reach her goal, and when Ailoye shrank back she reared herself up as best she could. YOU. YOU ARE MINE. THEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF YOU. LET THEM LOOK AT YOU NO FURTHER, FOR THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOU.

The dragonet called herself Oyath and demanded all the love and protection she could from Ailoye, now A'ye, and it was a request he was more than happy to give. Oyath gave him something to focus on his life other than a blurry future plan, and together they entered Weyrling training a little later than those he'd started with. Their training was awkward, to say the least. Between A'ye's inability to stand out or stand up for himself and Oyath's extreme lack of wanting anyone in their personal bubble, it took more effort than most for basic tasks, though they did complete them as necessary. Oyath's spitfire nature forced the young man to come a little out of his shell, steps at a time, and his enduring patience at her antics only further endured the rider to his dragon. They made few friends, few enemies, but in the end it was a somewhat positive gain for the two of them.

When Thread fell for the first time it shook A'ye up, away from the general calm routine he'd come to establish with his dragon and forced him into a more active role than he'd previously held. Although he does his best to get along with his Wing, and to have Oyath get along as best she is capable, a feline cannot change its spots and so he is occasionally pushed around by others, more specifically of those in the Weyr who follow the rank hierarchy of riders and their dragon colors.

Other: A'ye loves klah and to separate him from klah is to tempt fate. ( A'ye might also, with permission, harbor a one-sided (?) crush on a certain bronzerider . . . )

Also A'ye being attractive - he is but it isn't something he makes a big deal out of, or even notices. Other characters can comment/compliment it on it IF THEY WANT but he thinks they're teasing him. ( If not okay I will change! )

DRAGON
Name: Oyath
Age: Seven ( clutched 3566.07.18 )

Color: Green
Size: 20'

Physical Description: Small and sleek, Oyath is on the little side. She makes up for what she doesn't have in size with her speed, though her stamina is just barely in the average section.

Personality: For starters, Oyath isn't angry, she's just...judging you. She's judging you quite a lot, actually, and it's highly likely you don't fit whatever standards she has set for that day, or whatever standards she can manage to remember over time. It doesn't matter that her standards are nie impossible for any human other than others - other than A'ye - to match, but that works just well. Oyath only chose the best because she absolutely deserves only the best, and those on the wayside are nothing more than rocks and wherries.

Quick to her wings and quick with her wit, Oyath is rather clever and catches on to things quickly, even if she forgets them soon enough. She likes tackling new challenges and doesn't shy away from them...so long as it helps A'ye in the long run. Everything she does is for him, from accepting tasks she doesn't really want to do, to working with people and dragons she really dislikes, if it helps A'ye out at all, she'll do it and do it gladly. Of course she'll absolutlu refuse to do anything that her rider doesn't want to do, even in the slightest, and any hesitation he shows is taken to full blown refusal on her behalf. Where A'ye is silent and soft-spoken, Oyath bugles it to the skies.

When it comes to Flights, Oyath is surprisingly picky in who she will let catch her....if she can help it. Not fully aware of whatever outcomes might happen to A'ye other than occasional awkward morning after conversations, she does seem to have a preference for certain dragons over others, if not for the sake of their rider's relationship with hers. That being said she does not rise often, at least when compared to an average greens, and due to her small size her Flights are often fast and quick.

pros quick-witted, devoted, somewhat considerate
cons overly protective, judgmental, impetuous
