Then she just so happened to get a letter in the mail, a letter that confused her very much. No one ever mailed her, so getting a letter was a really rare phenomenon. Even if she did have family that was living, none of them wished to speak with her. it wasn't until she saw the address on the letter that Styx realized what the letter was about. It was from one of the places she had applied to have an internship, and that made Styx excited. she even let a rare smile escape from her lips. As she opened the letter and started to read it though Styx began to come to the realization that this was a letter saying she wasn't accepted. The next letter it was the same situation, and the same after that.
By the time the fourth and final letter came Styx was ready for the letter to tell her the same thing as the others, that she hadn't been accepted. Maybe there was something wrong with her art itself that the studios found appalling? She had been told in the past that her obsession with mushrooms wasn't too appealing, so maybe that could be a reason? Could it of been her personality? She did seem kind of dull and emotionless at times, so maybe they didn't like that aspect of how she went about her life?
Any doubt that was still in Styx's mind quickly went away as she read what the letter said, realizing that the best studio of them all that she had applied to had accepted her. An artist at the studio saw a lot of potential in her work, and wished to have them come to the studio for an internship as soon as possible. However, if Styx was to go right now she would have to leave the academy. Was she ready to do that? The hallow dryad had come to the Below to this academy to give herself a better chance of learning the skills she would need to pursue a life on her own, and the academy had done that she felt. Perhaps it was time to move onto greater things?
As an intern Styx hoped to see how the art world really worked, maybe even get some contacts for when she did break into the art world herself. Even if she did just end up being an errand girl, Styx felt it would be worth it in the end. One day she would make it big and show her whole family back home that she could make it in this world despite not being like everyone else.
