This SUCKED. Wren's mission was meant to be simple -- enter, off her target, and flee. Except they intercepted intelligence, and now she had mnore Maveriucks trying to kill her than Zero had unused vacation days, and... Initially, the new, friendly navigator helping her had panicked, replaced by someone with a calm voice that managed to talk her through most of it... Until reenforcements, at which point Wren had flipped people off and tucked herself in hiding, and now that sweet young man was gone too. All Wren wanted was toi make it home, and maybe cry in her daddy and Forte, whom she was already flooding with how awful the mission was and how this must be why she wasn't heavily armed combat missions were terrible and she had no porpuse in life-- And then the sound of Mavericks dropping like flies. It wasn't a giant difference, but it was enough to peer out and see what whas going on, just a little bit. Maybe it was okay?

Colonel was not a unit made to act as a navigator. That hadn't stopped him from stepping up and stepping in when, during a visit with his sister, a rookie navigator had panicked and left his hunter stranded and ftightened in a situation she was clearly ill-prepared for. He had guided her to a safe area and gotten her tucked away... Then took to the battlefield himself. That was, after all, where his true skill lay. And he did not want that frightened young lady to remain trapped in a warzone longer than necessary. Colonel was tearing through targets when he noticed a tiny woman peering out from the coordinates he had given his unintended charge. So that was Wren. He would stop and check her over soon enough. Right now, he had to finish this fight.

That reploid was tearing them to shreds!Wren blinked, very carefully watching with a good amount of focus off of her she was creeping out to watch. At least he was capable!... Bigger than he sounded though. And really kind of attractive if fa-- oh gods that was the Repliforce second in command her life was over from sheer humiliation. The bridge internally groaned, but seeing a maverick sneaking up while he was fighting, well. One was easy, right? And she picked the Maverick off with her buster, glancing before jumping airborne with a sudden rush of activating jet engines, wings unpacking to allow for hovering. He'd come to help her... She couldn't let him get hurt badly because she weas STUPID AND NO GOOD AT ANYTHING! THE WORST!

Colonel heard the sound of a buster, then jet engines activating and turned, spotting the panicked young lady from before, clearly trying to help him out despite her own fear. Fortunately, the threat was already growing near to containment, so he beckoned her toward him. He could guard her better if she was close, and together they could finish up the job she had originally come here to do. The poor thing needed to see that she could do her work, if she wanted reason to keep trying. He knew rookies had a tendency to cave if their first mission went badly wrong as hers had, and if he could he wanted to prevent that. Miss Wren - if that was who this was, and he saw no reason for her to be someone else - had potential, and he hoped he could help nurture it.

Wren hesitated -- briefly, to pick some risks off before dropping and wuiggling in under his arm, eyes wide as she watched. For her, a call down clearly meant she was allowed to hide, and she did very much want to bury in the stronger Reploid and hide, beginning to shake. Still, she bkew the entire thing and thus felt horrible, burrowing anxiously. "S..s...Sorry...." Was she apologizing again? Yes, but her anxiety was HIGH.

She was so small. Colonel marveled at it, even as he took out the last of the foes that had been pinning the young lady down. "There now," he said, softening his voice and bringing a hand to rest on her shoulder. "You're safe now, and you did very well." And when he got his hands on who had fallen down on the job and sent an unprepared rookie hunter-and-navigator pair he was going to have words with them.

"Not really." Wren's reply was muffled, because she was all but attached to Colonel, trying to bury in the sense of safety. She could have done better, really -- maybe paniced less, figured out her situation better, something. But no, noooo, she blew that. Maybe she WASN'T good at fighting like Forte, because maybe she just wasn't good at ANYTHING. While she grasped robotics, biology was almost all but lost to her, and it seemed combat too, and the gynoid reporessed the soft whine of distress in her voice. She couldn't back out of the Hunters now either, she couldn't! "I'm not sure I'm good at anything sir." Wren finally mumbled. "Forte's better at combat th'n me. And my brother Nicholas is better at science." EVERYTHING WAS HORRIBLE EXCEPT HIDING IN THIS SPOT.
