It had been a long time since he'd been out on the streets.

Mostly because Hermes had much better things to do with his time than to patrol like a useless piece of hanging artwork. He disliked being put into situations he wasn't familiar with, liked even less the fact that he hadn't seen that Infernal Creature in long enough that Hermes was starting to have his doubts.

He could have been practicing. Instead, he was here.

Here was an abandoned factory warehouse. It was several floors of unfinished cement and steel and glass, a part of it half completed, until the company had gone bankrupt. Hermes was up on the fourth floor - one of the more finished ones, although one entire wall gaped open, only beams and flapping tarps, no glass or walls. Like having a giant open window.

Hermes wasn't even close to the window at present. He was sitting off to the side in a ratty, dusty armchair, one leg crossed over the other, feeling vaguely disgruntled and more than a little like he would have to take a very long, hot shower after he got home.

So far, the evening had been pointless.

sry about the wait bb

"Ooohh my, someone's grumpy~" came a velvety voice from somewhere outside.

Carnelian was stalking, out for prey in a sense that he wasn't above lounging on or around someone lower on the totem pole than himself. In his quest for more power, Carnelian thought that, perhaps, luring someone to the darker side by way of recruitment might work wonders for promotion. This particular someone was a grouchy-looking young man in a dirty old armchair looking downright dour.

Aww, but he was kind of cute, too...

The corrupted senshi walked slowly into Hermes' field of vision, sauntering in the senshi's general direction. "Why are you out here, all alone? Would you like some company~? It's awfully cold. My jacket is plenty warm." The redhead wasn't much for combat and instead worked more with charisma and charm. He walked slowly, deliberately, keeping a loving eye on Hermes and taking in all the details of his outfit. Blonde hair, lovely blue and... is that a corset?

He turned his head.

Caught up in his own internal musings - of which, most of the time, there were plenty to keep him otherwise occupied - Hermes had not felt the secondary power signature, nor had he heard the footsteps that indicated someone was even there. It wasn't until there was an actual voice that his head rose, Hermes' icy blue gaze moving to rest on the figure that was slipping casually out of the warehouse shadows.

The uniform was dark; much darker than his own, in shades of blood red and black in what Hermes personally considered to be overkill. It was dramatic, he supposed, in a certain way; and the aura he could unwillingly feel was a shade stronger than his own, and edged on the same strange shadowy sort of sensation as that Negaverse officer had.

That, and the hair. Too long, for Hermes' taste. He didn't get up from where he sat, but instead gave the man a scrutinizing look, eyes narrowed as he swept them up and down the other; a once over that was almost entirely as dismissive as it was clinical.

"I'm fine, thank you," Hermes said, voice level. He let his gaze flick back up to the other's face.

"Who are you?"

hi hermes ur handsome bby so grumpy

"Oh, my apologies. Did I catch you at a bad time?"

Usually, White Moon Senshi of lower rank tended to become skittish in his presence, sometimes even fleeing simply because of the difference in power. This blonde man was entirely different - cold, stony, scrutinizing. That in and of itself was incredibly enticing and intriguing, Carnelian finding it hard to resist prying further to learn why this young man didn't feel fear in his presence. It couldn't be that the redhead oozed charm, no, there was a strange bravery about this one. And it was interesting.

Giving Hermes a short bow at the waist, the corrupted senshi politely introduced himself. "My name is Carnelian. What brings you out to this end of town, all alone? I don't usually find senshi by themselves on the outskirts like this." He gestured to the abandoned building, ravaged by time and weather. It was a dreary place to sit in a chair in the dark, all alone. Hermes was too handsome to be dreary, or so Carnelian thought.

It was painfully obvious Carnelian was a corrupted senshi by the holes in his forehead and chest on prominent display. He never really bothered to hide them at any point in his career - what would be the point? His distinctive signature was more than enough information for even the newest of awakened people.

"Yes."

A flat answer with no compromise to it. Granted, everyone caught Hermes at a bad time - his life was perpetually a bad time to be bothered by those of less importance than his work - but it seemed even more applicable at the current moment, and who was here.

The bow was also ludicrously old fashioned. It seemed almost patronizing in how it was displayed, as though the other was being melodramatic purposefully, and Hermes had never really had a fondness for anything that was deliberately over the top. Things were what they were for a reason, after all.

His gaze flickered to the man's forehead, to the spindling cracks there, then back to his face once more.

"Carnelian is clearly who you are, yes," Hermes said. "But now I wonder what you are. You aren't one of my side, I know that much." As ignorant as he tended to be about the matters of the war, he could feel the toxic aura wafting towards him. "You look like you're coming apart at the seams."

He gave a shrug, still not getting up from his chair. The shrug was somewhat uncharacteristic, because Hermes generally did not deign to do something so mundane, but he said instead, "I was patrolling. I thought I saw something. I was mistaken."

Icy blue eyes moved across the room.

"Are you going to leave me alone now?"

Carnelian could appreciate honesty, even if this senshi was incredibly grumpy.

Hands on his hips, the corrupt didn't mind answering a few questions. "I'm fine, don't you worry about me. It's simply a side-effect and not painful, I assure you. I simply work for the Negaverse." The redhead was never told precisely why cracks appeared in his body whenever he powered up, but the whisperings he'd heard amounted to the fact that Negaverse senshi were granted powers far beyond what any White Moon Senshi was capable of, and a side-effect of that power were the holes in the chest and forehead. In exchange for the ability to teleport, Carnelian considered it a more than fair trade.

The blonde's explanations were... boring, but likely truthful. "I would love to know your name, honestly. Your outfit is lovely, and you're quite handsome. It's a shame you're so unhappy. Why is that? Do you not enjoy being a senshi?" There wasn't any patronizing tone to his questions - Carnelian was very honestly curious. Most White Moon Senshi he'd met were either excited to be so, or were aggressive in some fashion. Hermes, oddly enough, was neither.

A golden brow arched in perfect arrogance.

"When did I ever say I was worried about you?" said Hermes, sounding faintly amused - or rather, a layer of amusement seemed vaguely intertwined with his already well developed irritation. "I said you seem to be coming apart at the seams, that doesn't equate to being worried. I don't feel the need to be worried for people I don't know or care about."

It would have been a little more interesting if he could touch the senshi's forehead, maybe see what exactly that crack was, but beyond a purely scientific and idle curiosity, Hermes had little desire to actually attempt this. He was more concerned about the fact that he was still being imposed upon.

His face clouded over at the unwanted praise, lips pressing together. "I never asked for your opinion on my face or my outfit, but as you seem to not know how to not stick your nose into other people's business, my name is Hermes. And I'm not unhappy; I just fail to see the purpose of doing this at all."

Of being a senshi, of being forced into patrolling for a war he had little desire to take part in, of anything that did not involve something he could be good at. Hermes lifted his chin, staring at Carnelian with icy blue eyes, his elbow still resting on the arm of the dilapidated chair, keeping his head propped up.

"Does that satisfy your curiosity?"

Fin~?

The redhead was at a loss. Truly, for once, his charm wasn't working.

Hermes was proving to be a tough egg to crack.

"You don't have to," came a cool reply, Carnelian shrugging in defeat. His demeanor did not seem to physically change in any way, though the redhead gave up the thought of slowly untying that corset Hermes possessed. "You could choose never to be Hermes again, if it bothers you so much. It's a shame, really. I think you look very fetching as Hermes. But, you're free to not participate if it's not your cup of tea. As far as I know, no one in the White Moon holds it over your head if you don't take up the call."

It was highly unlike the Negaverse work, but he wasn't about to divulge that information. Hermes was quite plain with his irritation. The blonde would be left to his brooding... for now, though Carnelian liked him enough to keep a mental note to try and find him again later. Maybe the blonde would be more amicable later?

Carnelian took his time walking away from Hermes, a slight smile on his face. Lifting a hand, the corrupted senshi waved to his pure counterpart. "Good evening, Hermes." With a thought, the corrupted senshi vanished, using the pulsing energies of Chaos to teleport away to dream up a manner with which to weasel into Hermes' psyche, one way or another.
