Itsuki yawned and stretched from his perch atop a fancy stone fence surrounding an equally fancy restaurant in downtown Destiny City. The dinner rush was winding down but well-to-do patrons still occupied many tables inside the lushly adorned restaurant. A well-manicured garden was built and maintained for their viewing pleasure, with the tall, gray stone fence keeping their privacy from the street. He'd failed in his mission to retrieve scraps by begging the patrons, but he was shooed away as a pest and dirty and a nuisance. How rude! Didn't they know he was an important cat? He could talk!

And he was clean!

He'd have to find food elsewhere. sad

That is, until a youma roared somewhere in the distance. All alone, Itsuki wasn't much of a fighter, but he would certainly try to distract something away from a civilian. And that's just who the youma seemed to be after - a young lady with teal hair in braids. She was being chased by a youma that resembled a deer and cougar hybrid - the body of a big cat and the head and antlers of a deer with a deep purple hide. Itsuki's fur stood on end as the girl ran past his position.

Oh!

There was a sparkling star in her heart... maybe this would work out!

Quickly, the Mauvian started running across the wide stone fence to try and keep up with the girl, shouting, "Miss! Miss, up here! Can you follow me? There's a dumpster around the corner! You can hide there! Follow me!!" There wasn't any time to consider why a cat was talking, not with a bloodthirsty beast hot on her heels.

So the evening wasn't turning out how Delaney had envisioned. Oh, she had gone to look at the latest model of telescope on display at the mall as planned but the realisation that she'd not be able to afford the item was needling at her as she had begun strolling through downtown Destiny City. Light pollution made it nearly impossible for the teen to see the stars that were beginning to appear in the black expanse overhead and Delaney sighed before debating cutting through one of the parks in order to stargaze. Checking the display on her cell Laney came to the decision that a shortcut through the park would have to wait. She would have to catch the next bus just to make it home before her parents. With a sigh of longing Laney did the responsible thing and turned around in the direction she needed to go before catching sight of something ... that was slinking out of the bushes in front of her.

"Nice kitty," Delaney felt herself back up a step and then another before she did the best thing she could think of in this scenario and she turned around and started running for her life. What in god's name was this thing? It kept pace with her easily. Too easily. Teal braids flapped erratically as she fled from the creature. Normalcy it seemed had fled for the evening. Delaney was slowly beginning to run out of steam as a stitch developed in her side. Her gaze swung frantically back and forth searching for something that would distract the thing behind her or allow her time to duck out of sight. And it seemed as if she was running out of luck. Delaney stumbled briefly but caught herself. It was then that she heard the voice.

"Miss! Miss, up here! Can you follow me? There's a dumpster around the corner! You can hide there! Follow me!!"

Not even stopping to see whose voice it was that she was hearing Delaney moved to follow what the voice had said. Anything that she could use hide from whatever it was that was chasing her was music to her ears. Keeping her gaze fixed on the aforementioned corner Delaney raced to reach the corner. Everything else narrowed to tunnel vision. Still though she had been running for a few blocks now and she wheezed softly as she found the dumpster in question and ducked behind it. Would it be enough to keep whatever it was from finding her?

And what was with that voice? Who had mentioned the idea of hiding behind the dumpster? Delaney's gaze sought the immediate area and caught sight of a young cat that seemed to be staring directly at her. 'Might be a stray or something.'

Mindful of her dire situation Delaney tried reaching to scoop the cat into her arms, "Not sure it's safe for us out there kitty."

"Uwah, Miss, are you okay?" squeaked the cat in Delaney's arms. They were blessedly hidden behind the girth of the dumpster for now, but Itsuki's supernatural senses could still feel the youma stalking not too far away. Its heavy breathing was unmistakable. Itsuki could feel Delaney's ragged breaths and thudding heartbeat. She was probably running for quite a distance! The need for food forgotten, Delaney needed help.

She needed to be awakened.

"I know it's crazy to hear a cat talking to you," he started, fluffing up his fur to give Delaney some sense of warmth and comfort. "But you have to listen to me, okay? I promise, I'll do everything I can to help you! We don't have much time. You're a very special person and I can help unlock that potential! You and I can stop that monster - it's called a youma! I need you to do something for me, though!" With intense concentration and having no time for the usual pomp and circumstance (and flipping through the air, as some Mauvians tended to do), Itsuki squished up his face and the star on his forehead glowed softly.

After a few moments of soft light and tense anxiety, a small golden pen with an ovular top landed in Delaney's lap. Itsuki picked it up with his mouth to present to the young lady. When she took it, he was able to explain, "You are a magical warrior and that pen will give you special powers, okay? Onegai, hold it up and say, Meissa Power, Make Up! Then we can defeat the youma!"

Would she listen? Would she panic? Itsuki had to come up with Plan B - hoping his beam was enough to stun the creature and hopefully he would have the energy to lead this young lady to somewhere safe, or to call for help. "Onegai, hayaku!"

Scarce moments passed in which Delaney tried to process what was happening. Her side ached from the exertion put forth in barely outrunning the thing that had been chasing her. Frowning down at the small feline that was now in her arms the teen gave her arm a quick pinch. Well that ruled out falling asleep and having the weirdest dream in which cats could speak. Not wishing to draw attention to herself Delaney hugged the feline closer to her body for a moment before registering what it was saying. Her thoughts started to race around her mind like a whirlwind. I have potential? Potential to beat this ... this youma? What do I need to do then?

All her thoughts quieted at the time that the cat in her arms squished its face up in the cutest expression and Delaney almost wished to be able to catch that moment for all eternity before feeling something drop into her lap. Perhaps this was still a dream, a very realistic dream. Then again maybe it wasn't. Delaney eyed the strange pen that the cat passed over to her and she could feel a strange kinship with the item. A pleasant warmth travelled up her fingers as she pushed herself from the ground to stand, still hidden by the dumpster, fully straight and glanced at the pen she held onto before seeking out the feline. It was staring at her as intently as before. "Well, here goes nothing then..."

Delaney's eyes fluttered close before she held out her hand, some sixth sense kicking in telling her that there was no other alternative open to her now, "Meissa Power, Make-up!"

What followed in the next few seconds was the feeling of embracing a pleasantly warm and welcoming sensation in which Delaney found herself almost wishing would never end. Pretty soon the feeling dissipated but the warmth and feeling of rightness remained. Blue eyes opened hesitantly to take in the new attire in which she was garbed before realisation sunk in that she could actually sense the feline before her. Eyes furrowed in confusion before she crouched down next the cat. Chucking it gently under its chin she spoke softly. "So, what now?"

The brilliant flashing lights and the first magical transformation of a newly-awakened senshi never got old. Itsuki put a paw over his eyes to keep from being blinded, but was thrilled to find that Sailor Meissa had transformed successfully. She was lovely, but there would come time to admire her after the youma was put down. And for that, Sailor Meissa would need to lend her newfound strength.

"You are Sailor Meissa, Senshi of Bobcats! You can help defeat this youma! I don't think I could do it on my own, uwu... " Itsuki's next statement was interrupted by the youma ramming the dumpster with a huge metal CLANG! sound. It was near deafening with the force with which the youma practically threw itself into the metal, desperate to devour the two starseeds on the other side. The force was enough to move the dumpster slightly, scraping horribly against the ground. It hurt Itsuki's ears and he squinted.

"Sailor Meissa! I need you to use your magic! Concentrate on the youma, and shout, Meissa's Silent Stalker! It should distract the youma, then I'll jump out and use my beam!"

Itsuki knew he would be a much smaller target, and with slightly more experience than Meissa had at the moment. Meissa's magic should sufficiently distract the youma long enough for a good hit to land, and perhaps Meissa could punch it a few times if it wasn't too dangerous.

There were so many different emotions going through the newly awakened senshi's mind. Fear of the unknown was a strong one as was slight embarrassment about what she was wearing but underneath those two emotions was the dim, but flare of optimism that maybe she could get out of this mess and go back to being just plain old Delaney Richards. Flicking her braids of to the side gave her the first indication that this new outfit came with ears. Ears? Oh boy.

Meissa would have to reflect on that later though. After the hungry youma on the other side of the dumpster was dispatched of. At the explosion of force against the metal container Meissa found herself ducking back behind the side for possible shelter. Her own expression mirrored Itsuki's as the metal of the dumpster scraped against the ground. Screeches such as that should be outlawed. She didn't like the fact that the creature was able to put so much force into its attack. Her gaze found Itsuki again as he explained what she could do to help in the battle and clenching her fists to her side Meissa stood and emerged from behind her hiding place. Taking in the full appearance of the youma as it stopped attacking the dumpster to focus on her the senshi of Bobcats swallowed nervously. Was this the right thing to do? Maybe she could lure it away from this place? No, something could go wrong.

Focusing inward Meissa gathered up what was left of her courage this night, and added to it all her fear and anxiety for a slight rush of righteous anger before doing what the cat had told her. Her gaze narrowed on the youma and she shouted (self-consciously) "Meissa's Silent Stalker!"

What the hell?

Meissa stood dumbstruck as a large apparition of a fairly large feline suddenly manifested to pad silently around the youma in which she had been told to target. Inwardly Delaney could recognize and identify the feline as a bobcat. Although as she watched a frown appeared. Nothing else seemed to be happening; all the apparition seemed to do was complete a wide circle. "Um, not sure that helped kitty, it's not attacking. It is just circling."

Lucifer Force
edited a bit

Quote:
Meissa's Silent Stalker
Meissa will create the illusion of a bobcat that circles her chosen target for twenty seconds. During the duration of the illusion the target of the attack will feel like cornered prey being stalked by a predator. They could experience fear, anxiety and maybe even the need to flee. It takes attention away from Meissa and could maybe leave the target open to being attacked. It's a distraction technique at the most. The enemy has to be inside a nine foot radius for the feeling of prey to be most effective. If Meissa is struck during the duration of the attack the illusion will end abruptly.

Meissa can use this attack three times per battle.

Sorry for the wait!

"Kanpekiiii~!" (perfect) cried the tiny feline, twisting between the senshi's legs to feast his eyes upon the large bobcat her magic had produced. "Kanpeki, Meissa-san~! Your magic is distracting the youma! Look! Look!"

Just as described, the youma, deer head and all, seemed to be cowering in fear of the bobcat as it circled. The deer head lowered to the ground, prominent antlers displayed but not out of aggression - the creature appeared to be keeping its antlers between its body and the bobcat in a defensive posture, completely forgetting about the talking cat and newbie senshi standing nearby. Itsuki appeared to be waiting for just the right moment, lowering his body as if to pounce from his position between Meissa's legs. Once the youma's midsection was facing the pair, Itsuki jumped forward.

The star upon his forehead grew bright and in a flash came a lilac-colored beam spouted forth and shot directly into the youma. "NEKO BIMU!"

With a shriek, the youma's great body fell to the ground and began to slowly turn to ash. Itsuki learned early on that he could only fire his beam one time before becoming exhausted, so it was crucial to getting the best shot possible. The guttural groan issued from the youma's throat was thick and sticky like the tar oozing from the wound. Soon enough though, the body was disintegrating as if it had never appeared in the first place.

Itsuki summarily flopped over in a fluffy heap immediately after. "Fuuuu... Meissa-san... you did great! But... could you... onegai, pick me up...? I'm... so tired now... fuuu..." (fuu is onomatopoeia for tired sigh and onegai is "please"!)

Sailor Meissa (or was it still Delaney?) did as the kitten advised and watched as the youma seemed to cower in the presence of the illusion of the bobcat. Her gaze widened at the sight. How was it possible? What caused an illusion to have that much sway over the enemy? Shaking her head at the sight she was startled to find the little feline had charged to stand between her legs and seemed to be waiting for something to happen. What that something was Meissa wasn't sure until she got the next big shock of her life as a beam of lilac light emerged from the star on the kitten's forehead and struck the creature squarely in its midsection.

Rubbing at her eyes Meissa watched in stunned disbelief as the creature began to disintegrate before her very sight. As the silence rushed in to surround her again and the threat was apparently neutralized she stopped to gently reach up and touch the tips of the set of ears that was part of her uniform. It was then that she became aware that the feline had flopped over onto its side and was asking in a fairly weak voice if she could pick him up. Shrugging her shoulders Sailor Meissa reached down and gently scooped the ball of adorable fluff off the ground and situated him in her arms. "Er, thank you I guess for the intervention. Are you going to be okay though?"

As she spoke Meissa gently ran her fingers over the feline's ears. The young thing didn't seem to have the energy to converse. As she waited for a reply she covertly glanced at the rest of her ensemble. Okay, so ears and a tail? And sure the gloves and boots were warm and stylish, but what was up with the not-so-modest coverage of her chest area. Oh this was just great.

It's perf!!

Itsuki was incredibly grateful for being scooped up off the ground. The beam always took a great deal of energy from him, and he could only fire it the one time. Nestled against Meissa's chest, he started to happily purr. "Domo arigato, Meissa-san. The beam... always takes a lot out of me... You did great! I'm so proud of you, Meissa-san." The small cat lifted a paw and placed several bean toes on her cheek. "You helped... save everyone in the restaurant! And me... and yourself, too. Fuu. Oh, I didn't tell you my name! Gomen. Watashi wa... Itsuki desu~ It's nice to meet you, Meissa-san."

He had so much to tell her, and provide for her, and would do his best despite his exhausted state. Tired or not, Itsuki couldn't awaken someone and then leave them behind. Themisto's pain at being abandoned kept the little cat motivated to make sure it wouldn't happen to any senshi he had awakened. "Sailor Meissa, you are a magical warrior... a senshi, fuu... It's my job to find senshi and awaken them so... they can help save the city! I still... have to give you a cellphone, fuu."

Normally, Itsuki liked to produce the senshi items with more pomp and circumstance (and aerial acrobatics), but he simply didn't have the strength to do so. Itsuki squinted and his forehead star began to glow in the same way his beam did, but the magic coalesced into a rectangular, very familiar cellphone. Plopping onto his fluffy belly, the phone seemed to perfect match Meissa's new senshi outfit. "Here you are! Your... fuu, senshi cellphone! It's connected to the Mauvian cell network, so... you don't have to worry about using your minutes~! You can take a picture of any senshi or knight... or neko like me... and you can contact them anytime~"

Oh, what else was there? Knights, and other senshi, and learning how to sense people... Oof, so much to do!

"Uwah, Meissa-san... I have so much to teach you, but... I'm so tired... fuu... Can I... sleep on you, for a little bit? Then I'll feel better. Fuu... It's safer to travel on the rooftops, Meissa-san. You can jump higher now that you're in Senshi form. Onegai, be careful!"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 08, 2017 8:50 pm

So the cat's name was Itsuki. That was good to know. It meant that she no longer had to use kitty anymore. Meissa's gaze locked with Itsuki's as he explained what seemed to be rather important information. Although she could tell that the feline was beyond exhausted. Considering he was the one to save her life it would only be fair that she allow his request. Her voice was quiet as she gently stroked Itsuki's ears, "you can rest easy Itsuki. I'll watch over you." Pausing with uncertainty Meissa glanced around at the alley an the road front before taking the phone that Itsuki had summoned out of seemingly thing air. The teen sighed softly before gently feeling the mild rumblings of Itsuki's purr and she allowed it to relax her jangled nerves. This was an entirely new thing. It was almost too much to take in. She was a magical warrior? Inhaling deeply Meissa glanced to the rooftops before glancing around. Itsuki said she could jump higher now. Was it a good time to test that theory?

Clutching Itsuki gently the senshi of Bobcats gave one last lingering look to the mouth of the alley before trying to determine the best approach to use in order to leap upwards. There was doubt in her mind of the claim being made but maybe it was true. She placed the phone to rest against Itsuki's side and then sprung upwards with all of her strength.

And whoa...totally unreal. Meissa found herself overshooting the correct height and yet still moved forward to make sure that she was able to land on the rooftop. It was a jarring landing but the senshi made sure that Itsuki wasn't jostled too much. Pacing back and forth Delaney mumbled to herself before sighing and sitting on a vent. She glanced down at the exhausted feline before finding her voice once more, "what a strange evening this has turned out to be."

She wasn't sure if she wanted to really thank Itsuki or scream in frustration.
