It wasn't unusual for Super Sailor Encke to make his way up to his comet by now. He was just pleased that it had become easier, since he had leveled. He no longer found himself functionally restricted to going about once (or maybe twice?) a month, and seemed to be able to go once every two weeks or so.
Not that he hadn't been able to get a lot done before, but the frequency with which he could go to his comet now allowed him to get a lot more done.
Needless to say, whenever he got the chance to go up to his comet, he took it with glee. Tonight was no exception. When he was able to sneak out of the house unnoticed, and once he determined his schedule in the morning was not too tight, he used his phone to call up to his comet and let himself be whisked away to the now very familiar location.
Hell, it may have taken years, but Encke was fairly confident in saying that not only was he used to seeing the sky subtly moving, he was actually getting comfortable with it. In some ways, it felt more comforting than the night sky of Earth, although perhaps that was just because he lived in Destiny City. There really wasn't a whole lot in the way of night sky to see, perhaps other than the occasional bright stars and planets. There was a lot of light pollution for a city that seemed almost infested with formerly extraterrestrial beings.
Encke made a quick decision to proceed to the seat of government again, entering the grand doors and plucking up a flashlight he had placed near the door.
Curiously, he shined his light around the entrance to see if it seemed like anything had changed. Of course, nothing had, seeing as he was the only other person that actually had active access to this place, but it was always worth a check. As he proceeded, though, his eyes were drawn to a room with a door that was slightly ajar. He had thought he had explored this place fairly thoroughly by now, but for some reason, the door caught his eyes as unfamiliar.
Perhaps it had just been a while?
Shrugging, Encke decided that this would be the room he explored, this time. He shined his light into the room, before proceeding into the room, looking around. This must have been a bedroom. At the very least, there was a bed in there. It didn't look particularly opulent like some things in this building could, but that was fine.
His eyes scanned the room as he looked for any features that seemed particularly different to him.
When his eyes caught the mirror, his eyes widened. Who was--
"Encke, who said you could barge in here? What if I was doing something with this room?"
"Oh, save it. No one's using this bedroom anyway," he remarked, glancing at himself in the mirror. He blinked his golden eyes, the light reflecting off the mirror and slightly illuminating his face. "I just need to make sure I look good, alright?"
"You're really worried about that?" Encke took a glance back towards the person who was talking to him. It was another one of his advisors, but this one, he was a little closer to. A friend, even. He quirked a brow, and the advisor snorted, glancing down at her feet. "Why did I even ask. Of course you're worried about it. Appearances are important, because first impressions are important--"
Encke swatted in the air, turning back towards the mirror and adjusting his hair. He plucked an almost gaudily decorated clip out of his pocket and pulled the locks back to keep them more in check. They were getting in his face, after all.
Annoying.
"Do you really have to use the one with all the gems in it? Who even designed that, anyway?"
"It's a gift from another planet," said Encke, vaguely, as he turned around to fully face his advisor. He shot her a winning grin, making the woman roll her eyes, but it seemed to be in a good-natured manner. "Besides, I'm fairly sure the people we're meeting with enjoy these kinds of ridiculous displays. Trust me, if I had the choice, I would literally never wear anything like this."
He supposed he did have the choice, but...
Encke shook his head, gesturing to his advisor and jerking his head towards the door. "You ready to get going? They're probably expecting us any minute now. Maybe several minutes ago, actually. I wish I had some way to keep track of the time in here..."
She giggled. "And you're just making it take even longer."
"Yeah, well-"
"Let's go."
Super Sailor Encke arrived back on his comet in the present day, eyes wide for a moment before he took in a deep, shaky breath. Was that... him? It had to have been him. That was who he saw in the mirror, after all. Himself.
He honestly wasn't sure what he was expecting, but he wasn't exactly expecting that. He knew that his people were alien from the other humans he knew on Earth. He had seen enough memories by now to gather what they had looked like, with those eeriely glowing features. It was strange, though, to look in a mirror and see those eeriely glowing features looking back at him, as if they belonged to him.
But they did belong to him. They had belonged to him before, in his past life, when he was whatever he was to this particular comet that was flying through the sky. He hadn't been reborn with them, because he had been reborn a human, but they had still belonged to him before. Just not currently.
Encke took another shaky breath, attempting to fully calm himself. It was fine. He had admittedly always been curious about what he had looked like, since he was, after all, also part of this comet. He had seen enough memories where he was in the driver's seat to be aware of that much.
And now he knew.
Still, Encke felt like he was done with looking in mirrors, and even this room, for just a little bit. He pulled the door mostly shut behind him.
