The perfect separation between a lush, green forest of Evergreens and a snowy, mountainous terrain. It was renamed "Mantel Ridgeway" after the Great War, having been originally named "Alsius Ridgeway," to further wash away the past before the end of the war. This area can be utilized for the yearly batch of first years and helps in the building of teams. There are also educational field trips held here, other general training, and endurance training. The rapidly changing and harsh conditions were ideal in training the newest crop of future recruits Huntsmen and Huntresses.

He would walk towards his launchpad,his hands in his pockets and a bored look on his face,he'd have his intricately designed gauntlets and greaves on with his shotgun slung over his shoulder. Niraya gets a message and upon activating it she gets a message about the Team Designation Regiment mission. She smiles and gets her gear ready. She called her drone back since her father was finished copying the code. Once it was in its bag she gets her weapons and waits at the designated location. She didn't have to wait long for the others to show up. She would wave at Jasper and Blitz. Once everyone was ready they all launch into the forest.
Niraya was very nimble in her landing moving from tree branch to tree branch till she had landed. She looks around her sword at the ready. the low hum of Dark Saphire was all she could hear at the moment. She puts the sword away and launches her drone and its it up high to keep over watch over her. it didn't have too much in the way of functionality. with the visor on a live camera feed from the drone could be seen by her. she adjusted the U.I. so she could see the drone feed but not restrict her ability to see.
Now that she had sight over everything around her she carefully plans out her route to the first obstacle. as she walked towards the obstacle she pulls out her railgun and keeps it at the ready. she keeps sweeping her sight to ensure she didn't miss anything. her ears would twitch listening for any sound. She could see the drone looking at various things from the trees moving in the wind to strange shadows in the distance.

Once the others had been launched he'd soon follow up,flying the air,his jacket flapping around from the wind,as he began to slow in the air he'd start to go down.He'd be hurtling downwards towards an unsuspecting and unlucky beowulf,having shifted so his feet would slam into the middle of its back,not killing it but softening Blitz's landing.Blitz rolled off its back quickly and grabbed its muzzle with both hands,swinging it over his head and slamming it down,twisting to snap its neck and deliver the killing blow.
Once he was done with the Beowulf he began to run through the forest at full speed,the trees moving by him quickly,he didn't really mind who he ended up finding,although some part of him hoped it was either Niraya or Jasper,he'd have continued to run while lost in thought,slamming into an Ursa while a few more of them stood nearby,as soon as he realized what happened he kicked off the ursa's back and skid away backwards,readying his fists

spaceJasper was in the cafeteria getting breakfast when the message regarding teams and assignments, "Yes! Finally!" Her outburst drew some attention, but she didn't even notice the eyes suddenly on her. She shoved a spoonful of oatmeal and peaches into her mouth, eyes scanning the message, memorizing the location that they were supposed to go to. The archer finished her food and put her dishes in one of the provided bins, taking her cup of coffee with her. She probably shouldn't have taken the mug but she would return it later! Jasper was already dressed in her usual attire, ready for the day ahead. She took the time to walk around the campus and familiarize herself with the place, talking to a few upperclassmen and getting tips from them about campus life at the military institution. They all seemed to only have their eyes on signing up for the military, not to become hunters or huntresses.
spaceEventually, the time came for Jasper to head to the designated location, a place called Mantle Ridgeway. She had her longbow fastened to the clips along the back of her outfit, securely resting until she would need it. Her quiver, similarly, was fastened to her hip and thigh, insuring that it wouldn't move during their descent. Blitz was there before her, and Niraya arrived shortly after. The fox faunus waved at them and Jasper waved back, flashing her a smile, as well as Blitz. A few moments later, the same message that was sent to them over their scrolls was played through a series of loud speakers on the trail. General Ironwood's voice filled the air, explaining what they would be doing with a little more detail. After he was finished, the General counted down from five to one, then they all began to launch all down the line. Jasper got to watch a few before she was shot off herself.
space"Let's goooo~!" The blonde maneuvered herself to face feet first, back facing the ground, as she rocketed through the sky. A huge smile was plastered on her face. She curled into a ball as she approached the trees, ripped two arrows from her quiver and shot them both at the same time. The arrows were tied together with rope and they each stuck into two different trees before Jasper even broke the treeline. Once she did, though, the girl held out her longbow and let the edge catch the rope, swinging her to a halt. She laughed as she hung in the air, kicking her legs back and forth slightly as she ripped the arrows out of the trees. She was close enough to land on the ground without hurting herself, so she simply jumped down and rolled upon landing, into a standing position. As soon as she stood, she had two arrows drawn and ready to fire, the arrowheads glowing with wind dust. She didn't move even though the air was still and quiet; she had a feeling something was waiting her out too. Suddenly, a Boarbatusk burst from the trees, squeal screeching through the air.
spaceJasper jumped up to avoid the Grimm, folding her knees to her chest as she did to avoid it knocking her feet. As it ran forward, Jasper landed on the ground and released her arrows. With the aid of the wind dust, they flew quickly through the air, sinking deep into the creature. It let out a loud squeal and charged Jasper again. The archer shouted, "C'mon!" excitedly, smile still stuck on her lips. She loved a good fight, and this was a perfect warm-up. Before it could even get to her, Jasper had already sent out another arrow, sticking the beast right between the eyes. It fell to the ground and slid to a halt at Jasper's feet. She kicked its snout for good measure before pulling her arrows out of the scattering beast. Sticking her arrows back in the quiver, now devoid of dust but still useful, Jasper turned and ran into the forest of Evergreens, ready for whatever else might want to try and take her down.

Niraya could hear fighting all around. her silent approach and careful manuvering has left her unharmed by the local Grimm. She hears some fighting nearby. from the sound of it it was a couple of Ursa. She gets closer to see if someone needed help. Sure enough Blitz was there with 5 Ursa one of them bring the leader of the small pack. it was clear as it had more armor platting. Niraya takes aim and and slows her breathing. everything moves slower for her for the few seconds she held her breath. the tree she was near was starting to be covered in ice. The next moment she pulls the trigger and an Ursa's head just explodes.
She quickly aims at the next one before they could react. two down three to go. The lesser Ursa go after Niraya as the leader of the pack headed for Blitz. Niraya quickly puts away her gun and equips her blade. Before she could get it infront of her the Ursa's smash the tree she was next two causing her to back off. Splinters cover he left side but she ignores them for now. Her blade at the ready she dashes in and then dashes to the side causing one Ursa to attack its friend. they get into a little squabble allowing Niraya an Opening. She quickly dashes but they weren't giving her a chance.
They blocked her blade with there claws. it was a fight of strength. two Ursa Vs one Fox Faunas. Niraya stands her ground and after a bit frees her blade from the Ursa and fells one of them. the second one bites down hard onto her arm and throws her at Blitz. She catches herself but her arm had some deep gashes into them. but for some reason she was bleeding black blood.

His head would snap towards the sound of the initial gunshot as Niraya's first target fell,turning back towards the Ursa Major as another Ursa Minor follows suite.He'd walk right up to the Ursa Major calmly,ducking under its first swing and parrying another swing with his right arm to throw it off balance,following with a high kick to its bottom jaw and a straight kick to its stomach,sending it backwards far enough that it backs into a tree.
In the brief moment of time he got away from the Ursa Major he'd look over to check on Niraya,seeing she was having a little trouble he took his shotgun off his back which was loaded with an ice dust slug and fired it at an Ursa Minors leg,freezing it to the ground temporarily,while he was distracted the Ursa Major closed the distance between Blitz and itself and slashed with both claws at both his shotgun and his arm,knocking the shotgun down and cutting into his arm.He'd wince from the slash into his arm and hit the Ursa major in the stomach,backing off,before donning a somewhat sadistic smile on his face as the saw blades on his greaves begin to spin rapidly,while his gauntlets begin charging to have him hit harder.
He'd stalk towards the Ursa Major and instead of waiting for it to attack,he attacks first with a sweeping kick to its knee,which the saw blade cut through easily,causing the Major to kneel,he'd follow with a brutal fully charged right hook to its face which stunned it,as he forced its maw open and began to pull with his right hand while using his left to keep its upper jaw in place.He'd shift his foot to get a better position to pull from,finally finding just the right spot and giving it half strength,ripping the front half of it away from the rest of it,holding up the two separate pieces for all to see before he realized he should help Niraya out some,dropping the halves and running towards the Ursa

Niraya stood her ground blade at the ready. one arm badly harmed. she noticed that it was frozen in place thats when she heard the worring sound of Blitz's gauntlets. She focuses on the Ursa Minor as it freed itself. Niraya charges in and cuts it leg off. She flips the blade around in her hand and sinks the blade into the beasts chest. it groans before fadding to dust. BY the time Blitz snapped out of it Niraya was examing her arm. When he gets close he could see her arm and clothing was stained with this strange black blood but Niraya didn't seem to be in pain.
breakfast had been gone in a flash, who ate big meals before a fight? Only the stupid. a full belly made you slow, lethargic, less hungry for the win. A few slices of uncooked bread and butter, Simple fair, but enough to last had been his repast. He returned to his belongings, made sure his boots were tight, belt tight, ammunition all accounted for. The cylinders of Magnis and Modis whrrrred, as bullets were slotted in, and then spun, the device clicking as the cylinders advanced. The Blades he took no time to check, he always made certain they were sharp as an icy wind, and finally, it was time. Magnis and Modis secure on his lower back, he made his way to the proving grounds of the Ridgeway.
The students milled about, waiting, some praying, some talking or joking with friends. He'd made no such acquaintances, but he was not bothered. He drew his old knife from a boot sheath, and slowly drew the edge against his left palm, leaving a trail of liquid red behind it. Watch over me, father of all the past, and all that will be, and should I die, take me to the hall of my forefathers." He muttered the prayer as he clenched his fist, blood dripping to the earth. Once the bleeding slowed, he wound a length of gauze around his hand, and fished his plated gloves from his pocket. Jarngreipr made a clank as his fists met in front of his chest. He took his place on his launch pad.
Then it happened, they were in the air, all soaring, some flailing, some graceful. he had expected it and took the moment to remove his weapons from his back. Now was the time to be, not thinking of the future, nor the past, but to be firmly rooted in the now. His arc carried him towards a dense grove of trees, and he knew they'd be too dense to land safely, so he twisted hard, using the momentum of swinging axes to spin mid air, creating a saw effect as the deadly blades cleaved wood like butter. Needles, split limbs, and other debris burst from the copse as he emerged still twenty feet above sol- Not so solid ground he saw as he cleared the trees.. Immediately behind the copse, the ground fell away sharply into a large chasm. His momentum would carry him too far from the wall and that had to change.
A blast from each twin rang like thunderclaps, but did their job, reversed his momentum, and sent him back towards the rock face. He dug in with his blades, and grunted as his body hit the solid unyielding surface. he took a moment to get his breath back, and then, using Magnis and Modis like Ice picks, climbed back to the edge. he hauled himself up and over, and rolled to a crouch rather than taking a moment. this was all Hostile territory, and Grimm were anywhere. The area appeared clear, and he straightened and began to move back in the direction he had been traveling, skirting the chasm.
Hed gone maybe a quarter of a mile, when he happened upon grimm. A dozen beowolves greeted his presence, snarling and growling. the twins became handcannons, and the a thunderclap from each dropped a beowolf as they ran forward to engage their " meal". 'Ammo count 4/4' he thought to himself, as he reverted to axes, and rushed forward to meet the challenge with a feral yell. The first clawed at him. He ducked under it, and severed limb from body. The second charged as though to tackle, he side stepped, and Modis, held in his left, removed the head. The Grimm dissipated into smoke, pervading the area with the smell of tar and carrion. The third used a back handed strike to knock him back. Their loss, out of melee range, he switched back to pistols, and dropped a good number with well placed rounds, the thunder claps echoing off the rocks and trees. Ammo spent, and not wishing to reload, he dropped one with a thrown Magnis, and nother with a thrown Modis. Leaving just the first grimm, the one he'd disarmed. He darted forward and shattered the beasts jaw with a vicious right hook, and then, as it tried to recover, he climbed atop it, gripped each jaw in one hand and pulled, HARD. the noise was sickening, but the grimm dissipated.
Lukas retrieved his axes, opened the cylinders,brass clattering to the ground, and began to feed more rounds in as he continued on his way.

He would walk over to Niraya,the sawblades on his greaves gradually slowing down until stopped altogether,the sadistic grin replaced by a bored look,he'd raise an eyebrow when he saw the black blood,deciding not to say anything about it and giving her the thumbs up.He'd take a few steps away from her and pick up his shotgun,splitting it in half and loading it with fire dust slugs for...an explosive kick to the weapon.Blitz started walking in the direction he was running in,gesturing to the dissipating Ursa Major that was in two different pieces

Niraya's arm falls limp as the black blood stops oozing from the hole in it. She sighs and watches Blitz basicly give the middle finger to the dying ursa. it was clear he didn't want to help her at all. She stands up and readies her blade. she couldn't use her gun in this condition. She follows behind Blitz her dead arm covered in this black blood and lifelessly hanging off her shoulder. but yet she seemed ok. "So Blitz. guess were going to be on a team." She was hoping to strike up a conversation. but she knew he was a very minimalistic person.

He'd keep walking with her,rethinking his decision not to say anything about the oddly colored blood,nearly missing when she says something "Hm?Oh yea guess we are gonna be on a team together,hope we get along well" After a few more long minutes of walking he'd come to the decision that he should at least ask if she's all right,stopping in his tracks and turning to her "Um...Sorry for not asking before,i didn't want a repeat of yesterday,which i guess now that i think about it not asking cause of one little incident is kinda dumb but...are you all right,cause you don't seem to really be reacting to how your arm is,are you okay to go on?"

Niraya follows her unsure what to expect from this trial. Blitz did answer her but in a minimalistic way. She stays silent unsure how to work with this brute just yet. all the while she kept an eye out on everything around them from her drone. Blitz finally asked about her arm. "this old thing? yea. it's practicly useless for now. but other than that im completely fine." She didn't seem phased by the fact she was missing an arm.

He'd start to walk again,fidgeting with his shotgun slugs and switching back and forth from different combinations of fire,ice and normal slugs,indecisive in what would be best to assist Niraya should she need the assistance with her temporary handicap.He'd ask some simple questions to break the silence,even if just for a short while "So uh...Do you have a favorite food?What type of books do you like to read,if any?"He'd finally stop messing with his shotgun and just keep it still in his arms,alert and ready for anything that may or may not come after them
