Despite his experience, Minchir had been feeling particularly squishy lately. So used to working in a group of five, suddenly being almost entirely solo (okay, maybe half of the time he had Alphard with him) had added an exposure and a lack of backup that he wasn't quite....ready for. He'd thought it would have been fine, but...It hadn't been. Frustration seemed to radiate off of the Senshi has he made his rounds for the night. What were his options? Work on a new court? Find a court to join? Find time in his civilian life to learn hand to hand combat? The last one seemed viable, at least. Between school, the cooking channel, baking for The Sweet Spot, and....yeah, he'd need to find an evening. Maybe he'd ask Mehtab about it. How he kept up any alertness to himself was unknown - and likely not done in the first place, as he bumped into someone and even before he'd registered who it was, had immediately bounced back, fists up and wide eyed. But it was just another senshi, and he visibly relaxed, dropping his arms. "Sorry about that, friend," he half-smiled, rubbing a hand on the back of his head.

demon_pachabel I hope Minchir likes painfully cheery! "Experience" could probably be considered about as far from Nix's situation as humanly possible. Having literal magic powers was super new to him, as well as the ability to sense other powered people around, and leaping on buildings. That said, he had to admit he loved the whole thing. (You know, aside from psycho death monsters and soul stealing crazies running around.) He'd just spent the past half hour or so trying different (mostly super dumb) things like running up walls. Usually failing, but occasionally things would work. He was only a little dusty, and was standing, fingers rubbing his chin, as he considered what to try next. Then WHUMP. Somebody slammed right into him, and he staggered away, spinning around quickly! (And almost falling over again from doing that while still off balance.) He saw a defensive stance, and so Nix did similarly. Then the other guy relaxed again, and somewhat confused, Nix did as well. "Uhm, it's okay," he replied, frowning quizzically, and looked over this other senshi. Briefly he wondered just how many there were, but what he actually said was, "Wow, big bow..." He gave an easy sort of smile then, and held out a hand to shake. "I'm Nix! Wanna join me? I'm, uh...experimenting with what I can do! Climbing up walls and stuff. I've done it out in the woods, but trees and buildings aren't the same!" Then he clearly got an idea, because his smile got bigger and he hopped into a lower stance before suggesting, "Or we could fight a bit! You looked ready to punch me a sec ago! I, uh, haven't really fought people at all..."

"Minchir, nice to meet you," he took the offered out hand as he took in what it was the unknown senshi was saying. A new kid. He'd been around long enough that there was almost a protective vibe in his heart for the new senshi who were still finding their bearings. "You should be able to just...jump them without climbing. Unless you mean the big ones. Then I'd recommend a Mario-Wall-Jump technique," he suggested before finally dropping his arms from their defensive position. Instead, he fluffed up the bow on his back then put his hands on his hips and put on his own bright sunny grin. "If you want a spar, I wouldn't mind being your partner. I'll even limit my magic use so I don't just...burn your eyes with it," he winced at the thought of blinding a possible comrade. "I wouldn't recommend the streets, though. Want to find a rooftop so we don't draw too much attention?

"Ohh!" Nix responded with a bit of a silly grin. "Mario jump! I hadn't thought of that! I was trying to be like a tree frog, which is...harder than it looks." He nodded. "Thanks, Minchir!" "Sparring would be great! I really need to figure out how to, ya know, do that stuff right...I'm sure I'll need it before too long." As he spoke, he was looking up and around. "Hmm...how about...that building over there?" He pointed to one not far away that was a couple stories higher than others around. "Probably nobody to see us up there, right?" He'd decided recently to start learning martial arts, and hoped that maybe doing this would be informative for that. Surely anybody was better at it than he was...all he really had going for him was enthusiasm right now (plus the fact that a cat had to chase him for 10 minutes to give him his power), and he knew it.

"Yeah! Though I think as you get stronger it may get easier to just go...higher...." Minchir hadn't exactly tested this theory with Alphard (darnit, he should have) as he'd been a Super and only recently upgraded to an Eternal Senshi. He'd still probably test that once he had a few minutes alone with his dark counterpart. "I think that one will be fine! You wanna race there?" he offered, shuffling the bottom of his boots back and forth with a twist of his ankles, shaking the rest of his body eagerly along with it. He continued to do his mock-running with his arms. Wiggle-wiggle-wiggle. "Or you can practice your jumping to get up there. I think that's a little higher than I can clear in one go for sure!" "A race? Sure!" Nix declared cheerfully, and bounced up and down a couple times. The frog feet of his uniform seemed like it might have given him a bit more bounce than one might expect...or maybe that was an illusion? Either way, after bouncing a bit, he went on, "I might not win, but I won't give up easy!" His bouncing paused a beat and he said, "Ready? SETGO!" And then took off dashing, making only a couple steps before leaping up onto the nearest building, landing with a thump and a laugh. He wasn't trying to cheat, exactly, but a start like that is bound to bring in a few advantages. Mostly he just thought it was funny. demon_pachabel oh, don't worry, I'm right there with you sometimes. razz Honestly, I think short posts are much better for conversation and dynamic things like battle--reading it is a lot more coherent (no three simultaneous conversations with the same person)

"GO!" Minchir shouted in unison when Nix did, taking off at similar pace, though not directly to the rooftops. A jump off the ground, up to the side of one building, kicking off it to the side of another, then landing on it, he laughed loudly as he continued to run. Glancing back over his shoulder to see if Nix was behind him or ahead of him (really, they were making very similar pace), looking away caused Minchir to nearly topple off of the roof he was running on, barely catching the edge of the roof in time to jump, land on the next one, and go rolling, sprawled out on his back. He held a fist up in the air above him; "I'M OK!" Tolin Kalin I sense these two could be hilarious friends! XD

This guy's quick! Nix thought as Minchir pulled ahead quickly. He hopped a couple buildings before the big bowed boy looked back at him...and then toppled right off a ledge! Nix's eyes widened in surprise, and he jumped at the same spot, to see the raised fist. He landed with a thump very close, and since he hadn't toppled, was still running. As he came along side, he actually grabbed the fist and said cheerily, "Great! No resting, yet!" He slowed down just a bit so that he wouldn't fall over in the process, but used his momentum to try and yank the other senshi back onto his feet. No fun to leave his competition laying on the ground! demon_pachabel XD there is definitely a similarly in personality here!

He was easily tugged to his feet, grinning and laughing the entire way as he used the momentum of being lifted to get himself running again. "I'll rest when I'm dead, right?" he teased before taking another flying leap to the next rooftop, only allowing himself to land for a moment before jumping again. It was like being on the moon in a video game - he could just jump so much! Still, it was like a rubberband effect in a racing game, where he almost unintentionally would speed-up or slow down based on how far ahead or behind he was until there was only a few more roofs to go. Who would win?

They were up again, and immediately off! "That's right!" he agreed, dashing along. He was remaining fairly steady in his speed, although did occasionally try to push it, and it clearly worked! He pulled ahead now and then... It was quite the rush, leaping from building to building, ducking around antennas and pipes, keeping pace with another superpowered person. He couldn't help but laugh and whoop as he went, although he did wing an AC unit at one point, and spun around from the impact, although somehow managed to not faceplant from it. "Oops! Sorry, building~!" he called out, but kept going. Soon, they were almost there, and Nix bounced his way up, trying to follow the suggestion of mario jumping. He almost fell at one point, but aside from a "wooah!" of alarm, there wasn't really much to show for it, as he kept going ( speed is life came to mind, though he couldn't place from where). In the end, though, he thought he could pull ahead right at the last moment, since his competitor always seemed to be nearby, ahead or behind, and right in the end Nix was somewhat behind. A well placed jump at just the right time should do it...

How long had it been since he'd just enjoyed the physical freedom that had come with powering up? While yes, it was something meant to be used to keep the populace safe, had he ever actually enjoyed being Minchir while not surrounded by darkness? Cassian wasn't sure, tucked away inside of this star of his heart. The last rooftop was tall enough that it would take more than a single jump to top it, and Nix was in the lead. But it wouldn't be an impossible victory, at least, as Minchir picked up a little speed, balancing his first jump fairly well, and then - Heck, that is a window, don't break it - he absolutely fumbled on the second, barely hitting the edge of the rooftop and holding onto the side with an 'oof'. And there was Nix, safely landed already. "Well darn, guess you win this one!"

Nix had barely landed when Minchir landed behind him. At the admission of defeat, he whooped, and pumped a fist in the air. "Awwright!" he cheered happily, then held out a hand to shake again. "That was fun! Good race~ We should do it again some time!" He was breathing a bit heavy, that was some exertion, even with being powered up. It was a happy sort of feeling, though, and he grinned. "But now we've got something different to do, huh?" He tilted his head to the side. "What kind of, uhhm... sphere magic is it you can do, anyway?" He tapped the little holder thing (he couldn't think of the term 'brooch') on his chest and said, "Mine's frogs! Which is...probably obvious." he lifts a foot. "But still cool~"

While Nix gave his victory WHOOP, Minchir pulled himself up onto the roof, dusting himself off and making sure his buttbow was still there. Sure, it was a magical uniform, but you never knew what would try to like...escape....from a magical uniform. He wasn't sure, anyways. Still, it looked like every piece of him was there, and that was all that mattered! "I mean, yeah, unless you wanna take a bit to catch your breath first," Minchir grinned, smoothing a hand back through his hair and exhaling deeply. Funny how sometimes it seemed like you held your breath when running. "Me? I'm the sunny, the grand, the bright glowing Day~" he mocked a bow as he said it before laughing. "Though it's hilariously more effective at night. Who I also know. He's a pretty chill dude."

"Wait, so you're Day and you know a Night?" Nix asked, blinking. "Huh. That's cool. Do you guys team up? And...does he have a big bow, too?" He smirked. "Bow Bros?" A shrug, then, "I've only met a few senshis so far. Lotsa different things. I wonder how many I've met, uh, not powered up?" He looked thoughtful for a second, then shook his head and said, "Anyway! That's enough of a rest!" He hopped backward, saying, "Alright let's--" THUMP! "Oof...sh-shoulda looked behind me first..." Right into an AC unit. He stepped forward once, dusted himself off and tried again. "Alright! Let's do it!" he declared, and lowered into a I-watch-movies fighting stance, smiling.

"Yep! You could say he kinda saved my butt-bow and I owe him one," he grinned. "We def team up sometimes. He's my usual patrol buddy when he's not busy with other stuff - work, going to his homeworld. Stuff like that," though Minchir had to wonder what his homework looked like. Sometimes he had brief flashes of something he thought was it, but.... The run in with the AC unit caused him to laugh as he also took a step back, briefly glancing back to make sure he didn't just...step off of the roof before he put his fists up as well. His stance was less action-movie inspired and more meant to protect the fleshy parts of his body and his face. "Come at me," he challenged with another smile.
