Seren was sighing as she settled into the Pod Room, wishing Rhys was here with her. She had not noticed who she was on duty with today, but she got here first and took the chair that made it easiest to see, figuring she could be the initial greeter IF someone did wake up. She was not expecting anything, though she had at least one other awakening on Pod Duty before. She leaned back into the seat, her book on the table nearby, figuring she would read once she felt more settled in.
There was a moment, though, where she smiled, suddenly thinking about how she had met a certain someone in this very room... And her 'sister' Joy, too. This place had meant a lot to her over the time she was here.
She was about to pick up the bottle of water she had brought with her, when she heard the sound of hissing. She grabbed the clipboard listing who was in here, and ran for the pod. She glanced down at the board, checking the pod, and faltered as it opened, and a face appeared. "De...Dewydd Yong...?" Her voice sounded horrified, and heartbroken.

Dai slowly woke, having a horrible feeling he had a dream where he might have done some horrible things in it. One where he might have killed people? He was not sure what was going on there, but he chose to try to ignore it. Instead, he was more concerned by the fact that he was in a tiny, tiny space that he really did not like. He had never felt claustrophobic before, but he suspected ANYONE would in such a tiny space. Then the hissing sound as the pod door began to open caught his attention, and he turned to face it, wanting out as fast as he could manage. He was trembling with the need to get out, and possibly the need to puke, he was not yet sure. He did know he felt nauseated, and weak in ways he had not ever felt before... Not even his worst bout of flu had ever had him feeling this horrible, weak, or sick. Then he noticed someone waiting for him, and heard his name... And his eyes focused on the face. There was a long moment of dead silence as he stared at the face of his supposedly DEAD sister. Fourish years dead, no less. He stumbled forwards, and then suddenly lunged at her, screaming "YOU WERE DEAD. YOU WERE DEAD FOR FOUR YEARS. HOW DARE YOU BE ALIVE? HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO ME?" Tears where streaming down his face, as he advanced on his sister, stumbling but furious, and then slammed into her, knocking them both to the floor. Once he had her pinned under him, he began to throw punches at her face, screaming the accusations about her being dead, how much it had hurt, and more, in her face. He even yelled "MAYBE MOM AND DAD WERE RIGHT, YOU WERE JEOJU!" Before sobbing more and just punching more

Pod duty was ******** boring.
Nash was not a fan of it, especially since most of the time it involved just sitting staring aimlessly at absolutely nothing while the pods beeped and everyone kept sleeping and no one woke up. Most of the time he was with October, or another faceless duty officer, but now he slouched there on his own, pushing open the door, a Twizzler in his mouth.
He'd been expecting nothing - legitimately nothing.
He had not been expecting punching.
An arm came around the boy's neck from behind, wrapping securely, while another arm came around his waist. With an almighty yank, Nash wrenched backwards, Twizzler still clamped between his teeth.
He spoke around it, rather than drop it.
"Get off, kid. You're gonna ******** up your hand."

Seren was just frozen as her brother assaulted her, other then trembling hard, especially at the word Jeoju, her eyes huge. It was pretty clear she was too scared and/or shocked to move, until Nash got Dai off her... At which point she rolled away from the men, and scrambled to her feet, putting her back against the nearest pod like it would somehow protect her from the man. "What... WHAT are you doing here?" Her voice almost broke as she said that. "You weren't supposed to come here! You had a bright future, why did you DO this?" That last bit was said just shy of a wail. _____________________________________________ Dai struggled against the grip around his neck, swearing in anger, before going limp in Nash's grasp, staring at his sister with a betrayed expression on his face. "You LEFT! You left without a word, and then 2 weeks later we were told you were DEAD. Maybe they didn't care, but do you know what you did to me?" He was crying, now that he couldn't take his hysterical anger and shock out on her in a physical sense. He knew, somewhere inside, that he had done something similar, but he had left no one behind to care about his death. She had left him. For several minutes, he just kept ranting and yelling about the betrayal he'd felt, and the pain, and possibly getting a bit repetitious in his need to impress on anyone within hearing distance how upset at the world in general, and his sister in specific, he currently was. Finally, he went silent, his head dropping, and he just seemed to go still. He didn't move, didn't struggle, just stayed in a slump, for a long moment, before turning his head to look at the man holding him back. "Let me go... please..." He sounded drained, and exhausted, and possibly looked a little nauseated. He was controlling himself, at least for the moment. He just felt broken, and lost, now.

He had no idea what was going on, except that it was probably drama and probably something that Nash was going to stay the hell away from. He had enough drama in his life thanks to Lawrence and the occasional Peyton (though the latter was less drama, more just general irritation); he didn't need any more.
Unfortunately for Dai, and fortunately for Nash, in spite of not being burdened with cumbersome height, he was used to fighting and used to sparring, and it wasn't that hard to drag the boy off of Seren. He was still fighting - yelling, to be more precise - but Nash didn't relent.
"You okay, Blue?" he asked around the boy, giving Seren a glance. Her FEAR shield would have kept things more neutral, but that didn't mean she was entirely free from injury - although someone just waking up would lack the shield themselves, so maybe it was the boy he should have been asking.
Nash let go once he felt him slacken, taking a step back and eyeing him suspiciously.
"Don't pull that s**t in here," he said. "You've got no shield, you're gonna break your hand before you break her face."

Seren looked at Nash, trying not to just explode with crying, and waited for the yelling to stop, before saying "Physically? Yeah. Mentally? No. The last thing I wanted was for my brother to be recruited. And holy hell he's too old, how is he this old?" She put her face in her hands, and in a muffled voice said "********. Ok this is a helluva ********, but I can do this." She took several deep breaths, and uncovered her face, before recovering the clipboard, and looking at it again, face pale as ********, welcome to Deus. Are you able to walk on your own? Do you need to rest? Or are you ready to get your pamphlets and move on to the next step?" _____________________________________________ Dai turned to look at Nash, blue-green eyes a little dull, and tossed his head some, trying to relax. "I have no idea what you mean by shield but... I can see I somehow did not harm her." His face went blank, and then he stepped away from them both. "********, I just assaulted my sister. This is not ok. Fuuuck." He was about to speak more, when Seren's words made him focus. He stared at his older sister, who somehow looked almost entirely unchanged from the woman who he had seen fleeing the home they'd both grown up in. He sighed and said, tiredly, "Yeah I guess. Let's get this over with. Pamphlets?" He moved to stand between them, slightly closer to Nash, arms crossed over his chest, "Let's get this done with. You and I... We need to talk later." His eyes were narrowed, and his expression had a mix of emotions in it.

He didn't even have to listen to the majority of what was being yelled out; clearly this was Seren's little brother, and clearly she had been gone and he'd thought her dead. The story sounded familiar, but without all of the emotional attachment, Nash's mind flickering briefly to October and then back to the present again.
"You get a shield," he informed the boy - who, looking at him, seemed a helluva lot younger than Nash had thought. Deus was apparently recruiting younger and younger these days. "Not an actual shield, like an aura, a protective one once you get your weapon. Keeps you safe and s**t."
He probably wasn't making any sense, but it was Nash, and it was to be expected. "And yeah, you did," he added, because sugarcoating it was never a thing for him, either. "You probably owe her an apology or like, some booze or something, though you look too young to drink."
He gave Seren a glance, a slight smile touching his face, sardonic in nature.
"Siblings on the island," he said dryly. "Welcome to the club."

Seren slowly moved away from the pod she had plastered herself against previously, and walked closer to Dai, looking him over, examining the changes that the 3 or 4 years had made to her little brother. He was taller then her, now, and that was a kicker. His face had lost all traces of the baby fat she remembered, and he looked... harder, leaner. He was also dressed far more... nattily then she recalled Dai dressing, when she got to see him up close before. Her memories were of a young man who ran around in jeans and t-shirts with Pokémon characters on it, though. Her gaze flickered to Nash, and she gave a weak grin. "Heh. Another member. Thanks for the rescue, Blue. I do not think I could have gotten that done without your help." She did not want to risk hurting Dai, after all, so even if the shock had worn off, she'd have been trapped. She looked back at Dai, and said "Come on. Let's get you moving. The sooner you have your weapon, the sooner this will make sense." _____________________________________________ Dai looked at Nash, his expression redolent of how little Nash's words were making any kind of sense to the slender young man. In fact, his expression seemed to read 'this sounds insane', but finally he said "Um. Well, I suppose I will see how this goes, then." in a tone of utter doubt, because after all, auras? Really? The comment on age, and owing Seren booze had Dai's lips twisting into an awkward frown. "What is the drinking age in this place? I could probably get it for her in the UK... Do you even DRINK?" He asked her, a baffled expression on his face. He was still confused at the fact that she still looked 18. It made no sense to him. Her next words had him heaving a sigh, and he moved towards her again, but keeping a careful distance, not wanting to make anyone think he was going to go full on rager mode again. _____________________________________________ Seren sighed and said "I didn't before I came to this island. Now? Now I drink." in an extremely dour tone. "Nash, can you hold down the fort, while I take Junior Giant here to the Cove's entrance?" She didn't feel comfortable letting Dai go there alone, even if there was still a shadow of stress in her eyes.

As tall as this Dai was, he still looked young. And considering that Seren was several years younger than himself, and this was clearly her little brother, that meant he was, in fact, probably closer in age to the tiny ones here on the island.
An interesting tangle, Nash thought, as he eyed them. Seren was looking weary and frustrated, whereas Dai was looking exhausted and confused - the latter of which was possibly due to Nash's entirely unhelpful assistance, but it wasn't like he wasn't going to figure it all out later.
Seren's offer made Nash snort.
"You mean, can I do the duty that I came here for instead of breaking up sibling fights?" he said with a grin, eyebrows raising. "I mean yeah, sure, I guess I could possibly do that. But don't forget about the creatures at the bottom of the Cove, the ones that like to eat people unless you give them something first."
Nash leaned over to Dai, holding up a hand in front of his mouth to whisper conspiratorially, "Usually bones. Got any of those lying around?"

Seren laughed a little at Nash's comment. "Yes, indeed, that job. Thanks, Green, you're the best." She reached over, gave him a grateful shoulder squeeze, then shook her head hard at the rest of the bit about the Cove. "You're also terrible. Terrible and the best." Her expression was fond, despite his words. She turned to Dai. "Come on, you. You need to go to the Cove. You'll see what it's about when you get there." She handed Nash the clipboard, just in case, and then grabbed a pamphlet as she headed for the door. _____________________________________________ Dai had gotten an indignant expression at the comment about 'Junior Giant,' but then Nash's words made his eyes go huge. He stared in horror at Nash, but when Seren seemed to just take Nash's words lightly, he relaxed... just a little. "Ah... I'll go with my sister..." He gave Nash a baffled look, though it was also a touch admiring, then followed his sister to the door, and out, his face nervous as ********. He followed her to the entrance to the Cove, and turned to look at her nervously. _____________________________________________ She looked up at him, tiredly. "Go on through, and in. You need to get your Weapon. You'll figure it out once you get there." She watched him go down and into the Cove, before she returned to the Pod Room. "SO. How are you tonight, Nash?" She settled in for the rest of the duty, hoping to all the gods ever worshiped that they would not have anyone else waking up tonight.
