Jason paced around a bit. He shouldn't have been this impatient but... he felt as though he couldn't stand still. His heart was racing, and it was way too hot, and this was just the first time that he felt someone had actually wanted to be his tutor and... wow was it hot! Summer was not very forgiving this time of year was it? Though that could have just been from the body heat he was creating from his excitement.
He had nervously contact Delphi and had asked her if she would possibly, maybe, but you totally don't have to if your busy, help him with learning how to control his magic.
He had been surprised when the glass had turned into the lantern, not exactly sure what the connection was between him and well... railroad themes but it was what it was. The glass piece was clearly meant for him, and it had evolved into something that was at least believable. Though if the ancestral spirit at his wonder was correct, guidance was a theme of Polaris knights, so a lantern would make sense in connection with that at least.
Sometimes he felt as though he was still too disconnected from all of this, and didn't really feel as though he was meant to do any of it. As though he was instead just someone that the magic had wrongly chosen and when it finally found the right person, he would lose it all. He was sad at the thought of it. Even if this... hadn't been expected, it seemed to have become too integral to his life now to stop. And he had only been doing it for a little over half a year!
He tried to calm himself, taking a couple of deep breaths. Delphi should be here any minute. It'll be fine. She knows what she's doing! At least he was pretty sure, one had to be pretty amazing to be transcended after all!

It was almost always hot as a knight of Polaris. It was a wonder the knights of Polaris didn't fall over from heat exhaustion in the spring and summer months on Earth. The weather on Polaris was always cold so their uniforms were perfect for it, well suited for the cold while remaining fashionable (at least in her case), but here...it was not easy to pull off wearing the uniform which marked them a knight of the white haired princess, who she hadn't seen nor heard from in a long time. It was worrisome if anyone were to ask Delphi about her princess, how could she not worry? The last she'd seen of the other she was getting married..and that had been well over a year ago.
She had decided that she needed to find the Polaris knights, all of them, and bring them together. They had a home and they had a princess, even if she was missing in action, and they should be together. The problem was...she had no way of knowing how many were out there awakened. She wasn't Polaris.
At least she knew of two though and that was why she was in a hurry - one needed her attention. She had been contacted by Jason who wanted help with his magic, and controlling it, and Winterlynn had been more than willing to help him - he was one of hers.
With the meeting place in mind, and closing in on the place, the transcended knight was quick to pick up her pace and make her way toward the other. "It's good to see you. I apologize for being a bit late. I got out of work a bit late, I had a customer who was being rather difficult." He couldn't seem to make up his mind, despite how much he'd liked her original suggestion to him, and after over an hour and a half with him bouncing between ideas he'd gone with her idea for a gift to his wife.
"You've been well I hope?" She asked, already her purple eyes looking him over, as if she could see past his uniform to any injuries he might have.

Jason quickly powered up, knowing that Delphi would be there quickly... hopefully. Though he wouldn't have been mad at her if she was late. They did have other lives besides all of 'this' after all.
He started to fan himself as Alphubel though. Honestly, the powered uniforms were just not friendly for summer environments. Sutai had a uniform more suited for this weather, but he knew it became troublesome when it came to winter and her own Wonder.
Suddenly though he felt Delphi's aura and smiled a bit, glad that she was on her way, and greeted her with a small smile and a nod when she was finally within talking distance to him. "I've been... okay. Some family trouble, but otherwise I'm fine." His brother had become distant recently and Alphubel had attributed it to the insomnia that his brother had suddenly developed. And it was obvious too. He was concerned about Tom, wondering what could have brought on the sudden development, but his older sibling had assured him that it was just school pressure.
Could an undergraduate medical degree really do that to someone? He wondered, but unless the Negaverse had unleashed some sort of horrible virus or something on Tom, then Alphubel really couldn't do anything.
"It's okay. I'm not under a time crunch or anything." Thank goodness it was summer vacation. "I was hoping that you could help me." He lifted up his lantern to her, giving her a nod. "Since I'm a squire now, I know I have magic, but I'm not exactly sure how to control or use it. I was hoping you could help with that if possible please." Hopefully he wasn't bothering her too much.

"Family trouble...anything I can offer advice on or help with?" She offered gently, wanting to offer whatever help she could to the other. The knight didn't care for the idea of letting her fellow knights suffer and be alone in their suffering, whether it be as knight or as civilians. One live bled into the other, it was just how it went.
"That's good and I'm sure I can help. Although it is a bit hot here." She offered up gently while making her way to stand in front of the other. "I can help with magic, that's easy enough. Do you want to do this here or do you want to move somewhere less hot?" She questioned, offering a trip up to her own wonder, she could afford the trip up there, she had the energy for it. It wasn't something she minded even, she had heat indoors and running water. It was enough to survive on for a bit of a visit. She really wished she had indoor lighting though, she hoped that would come eventually. If not maybe she could figure something out...

He shook his head, giving her a smile. "Unfortunately not, as much as I wish. It's just my brother is going through some stress for his degree. Not much can be done about that, other than him possibly quitting." That wouldn't happen though. He did hope that Tom's dreams of becoming a General Practitioner came true though. That meant he wouldn't be stuck in a hospital at least.
He perked at what Delphi said. Was she actually offering him to go to her wonder? "YES!" He immediately felt embarrassed as he practically yelled it out. His face became red and he shrank a bit back. "I mean, yes please. I would love to go somewhere where our outfits actually make sense." They could have gone to his wonder too, but he was sure it wouldn't be as awesome as Delphi's. It was good enough for him, but sometimes he felt embarrassed by it.

"That's why I thought that. The weather simply doesn't suit our outfits." She even had a hat, and from what she remembered of high school science people let out heat through their heads among other places. Having a hat on, although she could remove it, wasn't the best thing to keep on her head here. "Alright, take my hand and we'll head up." It would be cold, without a doubt, but it was better for them both.
"I think when winter comes, well winter here, I'll bring blankets up to my wonder and see if I can't stock pile wood as well for the fireplace in the libraries..." She had some plans to help warm up her wonder a bit, even if they were already warm due to water heating, it would give a nice feel to the place as well and she was aiming for that as well. She wanted it to feel like a home...like it was used and lived in....like it had once felt.
"Eventually I'll have it all cleaned up...I hope." She really did but it was big, sprawling really.

Alphubel could barely contain his excitement, though he made sure not to grab her hand too quickly. "All right, I'm ready whenever you are to transport us." He replied, trying not to jump around.
"Though sitting by the fire would be cool too. We could have a meeting like that, just Polaris knights sitting around a campfire and maybe enjoying some s'mores?" They would need lots of napkins or towels though. He gave Delphi a small smile. "I won't judge you if it's dirty, I know mine isn't in the best shape." It had been pointed out multiple times by that ancestral spirit of his. Alphubel was surprised that it had managed to collect so much dust, considering that there was no one in there or any dirt around for ages. The observatory got quite dirty apparently.

It was obvious, at least to Delphi, just how ready the other was to get off of Earth and get up to space. It was...amusing and brought a small smile to her features.
"Once I bring enough firewood up there perhaps we can do that, though I'd bring up more food than just what's needed for s'mores." She answered with a bit more of a smile. it was a nice idea, to have several knights up in one of the libraries cooking over a fire and talking while they ate. It was a good thing she'd found the bathroom and the place had heating, she could host groups at her wonder.
"I hope in time we all will help each other clean the wonders and bring life back to them - at least as much as we can." Bringing the other knight close to her side the knight of Delphi focused herself on the call of her wonder, on the feeling of it - of home. It was easier now to teleport there, easier than it had ever been.
It was, as predicted, freezing cold when they got there and snowing. The ground however was cobbled stones and without snow or ice, though there was water that was drying up. Landing a bit oddly, one heel landing between stones, she had her ankle bend on her and give for a moment, almost sending her toppling over, it was only because of quick reflexes that Delphi caught her balance and adjusted her footing. "Landing is never fun...but it is nice here."
The wonder was...huge. An open plaza of cobbled stone with a large fountain in the middle of it all. Water fell down from the top into the basin where it collected and via pipping went back to the top again. Behind them there were steps leading down and away from the plaza, what was down there she hadn't a clue. In all her trips here Delphi had never gone that way...never explored beyond her wonder. In front of them was a large building with a domed roof and columns with some steps leading up to doors. It was a court building, the main one, with a tower on either side of it, tucked into a corner. To their right and left were small, though no less impressive, court buildings that were similar to the one in front of them though both lacked a dome of any sort. "Welcome to Delphi...court complex for Polaris"

Alphubel still wasn't too used to traveling to wonders. And he would probably have an even harder time on planet's, though that hadn't happened yet. But either way, when they finally got to Delphi's wonder he tripped a bit, almost falling face first onto the stones that were underneath them now. He quickly straightened himself up though, trying to not be too embarrassing in front of Delphi.
"Wow!" Was all he could say as he looked at the wonder! He really did like his, but this seemed to be a lot better looking! Though then again, she had been a knight longer than he had, perhaps she had been able to work on it a bit. "It looks amazing! I... would have liked to see it in it's prime." He would never have been able to, but his ancestor would have. He was always a bit sad that these places were just so... empty. He sometimes wished that they could spread life to other planets, though it would be hard with only things from Earth.
He smiled at her and nodded. "Well, you know this place better than I do! Will you please lead the way to... well wherever you want to take us?" He asked, laughing a bit. He supposed he was just so excited about this place, though perhaps he was just happy to be back here on the planet and learning more about himself with help from Delphi.

"Same here. I've been doing my best to clean up and such. It'll never be what it once was...but I'll make it mine and do my best. I have running water...and the warm water runs through the walls to heat the inside so it's no longer cold inside." She could safely take off her coat, and hat, and be warm inside her wonders many buildings. "It's a lot to clean though." Obviously. The buildings were by no means small, even the two libraries were on the large side. The court buildings however just dwarfed them, hide them into the corners.
That was one thing she too disliked, how empty it was here, it was even more apparent because of the snow and winter here. it felt vast and just...white. Though snow no longer covered the cobbled stones of the plaza it still had a very open and terribly empty feel to it. Her wonder should have had people here - lots of people...it once had. it had once been filled with people going from one library to the next, in the search of knowledge, and people rushing to a court building in order to defend someone or prosecute them. The place had been silent only at night but the lights in the libraries even then had been on at times, people studying late night, preparing things. Now...now it was all dark and without light, that was something she wanted to get working at her wonder one day, and no people hustled and bustled about.
"I wish I could bring it back to what it once was...that in my life time it would be what it once was." It was a sad truth though that it would not happen, they were human and didn't live long enough. There was only so much she could do...and bringing life here was not something they could do. She didn't think life would ever return here - not as it once had been.
"We can head to the library. It'll be warm and we can shed some layers while we work on your magic. It has chairs and couches so you can sit and rest as well." And so could she. They could rest their heavy, though warm and necessary, clothing over chairs while they worked.

here is some old posts describing the wonder better.
Quote:
It was around them that buildings stood tall and proud. To their right stood several tall buildings each having several flights of steps to go up to reach the doors, a roof over hanging; held up by grandiose pillars, so anyone loitering outside the doors would be protected by the snow. Words were embossed above the doors leading into the large buildings, words the knight could not understand and had her casting a curious look to the eternal at her side - could she understand it somehow?
It was when she looked to the other that she spied similar buildings to the left of them, almost a mirror image. Just as decorative and elegant, the stairs large and sweeping with banisters that were as highly decorated as the columns which held up the roves - yes a very Greek feel but the metal which everything was made from was a very odd thing to see combined with the style displayed here. "Someone liked Greek architecture." And added metal to it - lots of metal. It was ahead of them where something even bigger was found. A large building, larger than the others and it was just one building rather than several buildings, with a round dome ceiling sprouting up form it's center. More columns and another similar roof to the other buildings but this one was larger, higher up, with more steps to climb up to reach the columns and the doors which lay beyond them just waiting to be opened for the first time in how long? From the top of the done a spiral of metal shot up into the sky and from it's top stood, in crystal form, the symbol for the planet they were on - Polaris.
The building was huge, casting them both in it's shadow, but on it's right and left, where it met with the buildings to their right and left, where two smaller buildings. Both were round, eight stories high, and each level seemed to be open but no it was windows. Tall windows, perhaps floor to ceiling, The windows were rounded at the tops and straight at the bottom, she could imagine the lights on inside being seen from the outside - it must have looked warm and inviting. Even the domed tops of these two structures had windows from which light could pour out...or in perhaps.
The libraries at this point have been dusted and cleaned up...and the carpeting pulled up so the floors are wooden.
Quote:
Tapping a foot she watched as the hallway curved to the right and left as the tower was rounded. Right in front of them however was another set of double doors, this time made of wood and decoratively carved.
Pushing the doors open and she stepped into the room. There was a path cleared which lead directly to a large fireplace made of stone. To either side of the fire place were ruined chairs and couches along with tables, both side tables and what would be considered a coffee table. Lining the way to the fireplace and obvious gathering area where high shelves of books. Books that filled the shelves and covered the floor and were coated in a thick layer of dust. Everything was covered in a layer or dust that was thick.
The second through seventh floor could only be reached by a set of grandiose stairs that let people get off at whatever floor they needed. The second through seventh floor only existed so much as they circled the perimeter of the core. Leaving the first floor mostly open air with a massive ceiling. The other floors had shelved of books and pressed to the banister that kept someone from falling, or walking, right off one of the higher floors were desks with chairs pushed in close to them. Well cushioned and wheeled they were high backed with arm rests, meant to be comfortable for people to spend hours in.
A chain hung from the ceiling but whatever hung from it, likely a form of light, seemed to be on the floor in pieces of metal and shattered...glass or crystal. A mess. This place needed work and some she wasn't sure if she could manage.

Alphubel chuckled a bit at Delphi's cleaning comment. "I'd bet." Even though his observatory wasn't as big as this entire area, cleaning it had taken the better part of a few weeks, and multiple trips. He wasn't even going to try to clean the parts he couldn't reach though. He wasn't that desperate yet to have the place completely tidy.
He could feel Delphi's sadness as she talked about wishing it could be like in the past. He often wondered if this was really all worth it. It was hard to bring others to wonders and other planets, and there was no way that they would possibly ever be populated again, unless they somehow unlocked the ability for easy transportation, but that wouldn't be until many hundreds if not thousands of years later most likely, even with help from magic.
It was just too sad to dwell on.
He tried to change the subject. "Library sounds good! I need to see what I can do with this lantern!" He had been carrying it around, and it's what his glass lens had changed into, so he had been quite intrigued. But he couldn't really do anything with it until he actually knew how to use it. He looked around. "Which building should we go to? I'll follow if you lead!"

"I'm sure that lantern does something good." Something useful, it had to since it was magic after all. There was no way it would do nothing, or something useless. They just had to find out what it did and how to use whatever it did, whatever his magic was.
"Follow me then." Pointing to one of the towers neatly tucked in at the side of what appeared to be the main building of the complex, the one with the big dome on top that was infact her bedroom here. It had been the previous Delphi knights bedroom and it was hers now. She was going to work on bringing new things to the room somehow, but it would be done so it would not only be clean but comfortable as well.
On of the little towers, the one to the right, was where she headed and the doors were pushed open as she reached them. The inside clean and warm from the heat which circulated through the walls by pipes that ran the span of her wonder, carrying heated water all around. The fact the place was warm, was heated, made it comfortable and homey feeling. It brought a certain comfort to the place which previously it had lacked due to the desolate coldness which had filled the area.
"I hope that whenever Polaris returns, from wherever she is, she can find a united group of Polaris knights with wonders in various stages of rebuild and clean up. I think it will make her happy....she is the sort who cares for us all, even before getting to know us. It would excite her to see us all together.." Perhaps a bit random but it was one big reason for Delphi wanting to help her fellow Polaris knights in whatever they might need. They should be united anyway, they all called this star home anyway...or well a second home perhaps.
"If you run into any other Polaris knights...find out about them. Let's try from now on to unit us all." She had this one and she knew Whistler but also had a certain tutu wearing knight on their side as well. Now to find the others, as she was sure there were more.

Well, at least Delphi was sure it did something. Alphubel hadn't even tried to do anything with it yet, fearing that something dangerous might come from it, but it had felt comfortable at his side and it didn't seem dangerous. It was just a lantern after all. He would think that the most it could do was momentarily blind someone for a bit, even with magic. Still though, he had wanted to wait for someone more experienced to help him out with it.
He followed Delphi as he continued to look around the complex. Her wonder was something to look at. Though if he considered it, his was probably something to look at too, from the inside. Along with that one Chronos knight's library that they had gotten to visit. That was interesting at least! He was glad though when they finally got inside. As warm as his uniform was, he still appreciated when he could be in a warm place. Just not outside in the hot summer with his uniform. That was bad.
He listened as Delphi talked about 'their' princess. It was still kind of weird to think about with how absent she had been. But, he supposed that the other factions of knights had their own royals whom they served under, though he was pretty sure a lot of them were like Polaris. Absent or barely appearing. He didn't feel so connected to Polaris, though he knew Delphi was, so he felt for her. "I'm sure she'll come back sometime. And then I can meet her myself! Then we can finally have a nice big meeting with everyone!" Hopefully. He hadn't really met any other Polaris knights besides Delphi and Sutai so... he wasn't sure how it would work.
But... Alphubel was still thinking about practicing his magic. "This place is great! I just hope that my magic isn't something that would destroy it!" He said, trying to lighten the mood. Or at least, hopefully his magic wasn't wind or something.

Removing her own coat, fingers working to untie the bow at her throat, she let it lay across a chair as she sat herself on the top of a desk and watched the other. Her feet just touching the floor below. "Magic, at least for knights, generally speaking it's destructive at least not from what I've seen. It is powerful, don't underestimate what you or any other knight can do, but it isn't the same. You magic is pushed through that item...a focus of sorts." Tapping her toes against the floor, the only part of her boots which reached the floor.
"Focus on yourself...you'll feel the magic there. Force it out into the item and keep pushing. You'll need to focus less and just push as you get used to it - at least for me it was that way. It takes time...for it to become just a thing." Just an easy thing which she could do without worry of her magic cutting off if she moved around or did things. She didn't get much into battles but she did practice with her magic often, here and in Destiny city, so she had gotten a handle on it. She still didn't have a summon, unlike many other knights, but she was ok with that.
"Why don't you lose some layers and then see if you can't get your magic to work."

Alphubel removed his robe and laid it across another chair. He felt a bit silly without it on, as it looked like he was just wearing a dress, but he at least knew it was still a robe rather than a dress.
He grabbed his lamp again, having had to put it down to take off his robe, and held it with his hands, listening to Delphi. Not destructive? That's okay with me. He thought as he took another look at it before gazing back at Delphi. He listened to her, and tried to take in what she was saying. "So the magic comes from me, and I need to use the lantern to make it actually appear." Easily said, now he probably needed to practice to actually get it done. Hopefully he wouldn't look silly while he was trying to do it.
"I'll try it then." He wasn't sure what the magic would do, but hopefully it wouldn't do anything to them. He also hoped that it would at least be able to show when the magic was being used. He looked at the ground, trying to position himself so he was steady and could concentrate on what he was doing without falling over.
He wasn't sure if he should hold the lantern out with one hand, or try to keep it in both of them. He supposed he should try doing it with one hand, as that's what he would most likely have to use in battle. So, he held it out and closed his eyes, just for now, trying to feel the magic that was inside of him. Boy that sounds like a cliche. He thought to himself and couldn't help but smile.
Complete silence and concentration. He tried to calm the sudden thoughts that wanted to race through his head. Find the magic... He told himself, though he tried to do it in an encouraging way rather than a forceful way. After a few moments, he thought he felt something. Whether it was the magic though, he wasn't sure, but he tried to manipulate it a bit, trying to see if he could direct it, and focused on his arm. He let it sit there a bit, going up and down his arm, trying to just make sure he could direct it for a bit, until he finally tried to 'push' it into the lantern. He didn't try to force the lantern to take it, and the 'magic' seemed to be a bit reluctant in going into the weapon. But the lantern, Alphubel hadn't felt this before, but the lantern almost felt like it was willing to accept the magic.
The magic however, did not go in all at once, there was only a little trickle of it, but it was enough. The lamp started to shine, just a bit.
