The sun was creeping through the sky, the clocks chiming six as Itsuki trotted around the Destiny City University campus. Here, students were more likely to feed him bits and pieces of leftover lunch and early dinner, or pick him up for attention, or stop and take photos with him. Rearing on his hind legs and waggling his front paws in the universal begging motion earned more than a few aaw’s from passersby. Instagram fodder for certain. Zachary was busy working his shift as a cashier and wouldn’t be home until much later, especially with the rushes beginning for Christmas shopping. In the meantime, Itsuki wasn’t a fan of canned cat food and craved something like chili cheese fries or lunch meat - staple foods of broke college kids living in the DCU dorms.
And who wouldn’t want to share some food with an adorable and sociable feline?
Cheap sushi from the memorial union was on the table for tonight, Itsuki happily munching away at one of the small salmon rolls he’d been given on a black plastic container for a plate. Situated on a stone bench just outside the library, the Mauvian almost missed one twinkling star in particular. And it wasn’t high above in the sky!
No, she was a purple-haired student, nose in a book, just leaving the confines of the library. Itsuki’s fluffy ears perked immediately. There was a distinctive something about her, much like the twinkle Themisto or Charybdis or Takamizawa possessed. It was a sparkling soul, slumbering deep within her chest. And she didn’t know it! The Mauvian had to quickly debate whether or not it was a good idea to awaken this one right now, or to keep an eye on her and wait until---
Oh, she moved FAST with that book!
In a panic, the lilac point jumped down from his dinner on the bench and trotted after one Sophia Thomas, meowing up at her in an attempt to get her attention. ”Mya! Myaaaa~!”

Christmas was coming, but that also meant finals were coming and when it came to studying for exams, Sophia Thomas did not mess around. Shoving her glasses up her nose as she walked - a habit she'd grown into ever since receiving them at the sad little age of seven - Sophie hugged on to her notebooks and textbooks as she shuffled forward, mindful not to run into any of the lingering students on campus. Most were busy making plans for the holidays but Sophie didn't have time for parties or get-togethers... not that she'd been invited to any, anyways. She'd almost made it to the corner, where she'd turn and head approximately two blocks for the bus stop, when she heard the soft little call from behind. Turning around, wide eyes focused on the small feline that seemed to be approaching her - her - and the girl automatically stooped down to investigate. Animals usually didn't bother with her, so it was curious that a kitten as cute as this one would. Maybe it thought she had food? Wait... did she have food? Turning her backpack over, she dropped the bag to the ground and started rummaging through it. "Are you hungry, Mister Kitty? I might still have some of my sandwich left over from earlier..."

Keeping up with the mewling kitten theatrics, Itsuki had one eye on their surroundings. Without anyone in the immediate vicinity to witness some serious miracles about to happen, the Mauvian could risk actually speaking and getting right down to business. Besides, if he didn't, this young lady with a sparkling soul could be on an bus and disappearing, never to be seen again. This opportunity was one worth taking! While Sophie was busy rummaging in her bag for a sandwich, Itsuki took a moment to preen himself and fluff up his fur. She was likely to be startled by a talking feline no matter what preparations he made. Every single time he'd awakened someone (with the exception of Charybdis, who was a child and thus full of imagination, and was already familiar with the senshi life), there'd been quite a lot of disbelief. "Oh, I would love a sandwich!" came a peppy reply. "What kind of sandwich? I should probably introduce myself first, because we have important things to discuss!" Clearing his throat, Itsuki placed a fuzzy paw on his chest. "Watashi wa Itsuki desu! What's your name~?"

She paused in her rummaging, amethyst eyes staring down at the small cat as they slowly narrowed. Wait...what on Earth? The cat's mouth had moved, but a human's voice had come out of it. There was no simple meow or purr, but words. Human words. "Who's doing that?" Eyes glanced out, searching for whatever prankster was using ventriloquism on the feline in front of her. She had to admit, it as perfectly timed - maybe the cat had been taught a few tricks, to go along with the scheme. Maybe someone was taping her the entire time too - rude. "It's not fair to use a defenseless animal as a prank, you know." Her tone was flat as she tilted her head to study the beast's neck. The little accessories were cute but.. well, maybe one of them was hiding a device that was making it look like it was speaking? Had technology come that far? And why was someone using it on a cat?

Oh, that wasn't how this conversation was supposed to go... Itsuki looked down at himself for a moment, brushing his chest fluff with a paw. Looking back up at Sophie with big green eyes, the cat's ears perked again. "Who is doing what? Maybe I need to speak louder, but I don't want to draw too much attention. You're very important! I noticed it right away, actually. I don't mind waiting on the sandwich, because this is much bigger than a sandwich!" For emphasis, the cat lifted his arms and spread them as wide as his feline body would allow. Big! Very big!"My name is Itsuki! What is your name? Is there somewhere private we could go to talk for a little bit? I have something very special to give to you, but I can't do it out here in public. It's special, just for you! I promise!" Sitting back down on his four paws, the lilac point squeezed his eyes shut in the classic kitty I love you squishy-face while waiting for her reply.

Okay, whoever was doing it was really dedicated to the cause, which both impressed and frustrated Sophie even more. The cat's mouth moved in perfect sync with the voice, his little paws even gesturing like a human's hands would. Leaning forward, she peered closer at the cat. The star on its forehead was even more peculiar, the curious college student reaching out to gently brushed her index finger against the feline's head. Warm. Furry. Definitely not mechanical...how peculiar. "Alright, Itsuki. I'll bite." Rising up from her stooped position, she held her backpack in one hand while she made a final glance around for any pranksters. "I know an alley near the bus stop, if that would work you." With that, she pursed her lips, paused and then made her way in the direction of the bus stop.

Itsuki's face squished at Sophie's delicate poke. >w< "Hai! That's perfect! Arigato~" And he padded away towards the alley, going by the general directions the young lady had given. Thankfully, there was only one available alley near said bus stop (as the only other one was blocked off by a series of dumpsters and was quite smelly with all the garbage!). Quickly, the lilac-point disappeared into the available alley and trotted to the end, well far away from any prying ears and eyes. Very important things were to be discussed, and the public at large was not invited! Turning around, he awaited Sophie's arrival. She seemed confused and suspicious (and who wouldn't?) but Itsuki wished to alleviate her fears as much as possible. "Arigato! You didn't tell me your name though. But I guess that's okay! I know your other name, anyway. You know, you're a very important person! It's my job to find people like you and help them reach their full magical potential! And you've got some in spades~" With another squishy kitty face, Itsuki tilted his head at Sophie. He was awfully cute to be a suspicious automaton being controlled by some college prankster in the science department. "You saw my star, too! That's pretty important."

Pursing her lips, she finally shrugged as the small cat pointed out her rudeness in not introducing herself to this apparent "talking" cat. Fair was fair, after all.... "You may call me Sophie, Mr. Itsuki." The mention of his star, of magical potential and her importance had the disbelief only growing stronger. Maybe she...was dreaming? Was that even a possibility? How else would boring Sophia Thomas find herself being told that she was some special person worthy enough for a talking cat to find? Deciding to go along with the cat's antics, she returned to leaning down, watching the cute little fellow try to explain himself. "Alright then, pussycat. You've found me. Now what?"

"Ah! It's nice to meet you, Sophie-san~ Here, let me make your pen for you!" Itsuki hunkered down and performed the very classic feline butt wiggle, as if preparing to pounce. Instead of attacking Sophie's shoelaces, Itsuki flipped backwards into the air, and at the apex of the arc, swirled purple and minty-green magic. The colors and sparkling lights coalesced into a small, pen-like object with an ovular end cap. It clattered to the ground as the cat's paws returned to Earth and the lilac point made sure to pick it up in his mouth and present it to Sophie. After the young lady held the pen in her hands, Itsuki bowed to her (as much as a cat could, anyway). "This is your henshin pen, Sophie-san! Cats like me can see the magic in you, and we can make these items for you. You've got the potential to be a magical warrior! A Senshi! They help protect the city and keep it safe. I'm sure you've seen the news reports about the monsters? They're called youma, and they're very real. Oh, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Gomen!" Itsuki used the back of his paw to smooth out his fur a bit and regain some concentration. "Your Senshi name is Sailor Elara! Using that henshin pen, you can transform into your Senshi self! Give it a try! Just hold it up and say, Elara Power, Make Up!"

Wait, a pen? But she had plenty of pens - all in a variety of colors, depending on their need. Some for writing, some for editing, some for highlighting and -- The college student gave the cat a blank stare as he began to crouch against the dirty alley pavement. Without a doubt, he was the cutest kitten she'd ever seen, but what was he -- Sophie blinked. Watching the talking animal flip around to create objects out of thin air was, without a doubt, the most mystifying thing her overworked brain had ever tried to process. It took her a moment to realize that the helpful, friendly little guy was offering the object to her, which she reluctantly received and exchanged between palms. All of his words were... foreign. It had nothing to do with his peculiar accent or the additional words he put behind her name (as precious as it sounded), but words like magical warrior and monsters were terms meant for fairy tales, not for a woman striving to carve a name for herself out in the real world. It took her another to realize he'd given her instructions, among the long-winded explanation her mind couldn't wrap itself around. Elara? But she wasn't... she was Sophie. Plain 'ol Sophia. Still.... Whether it was morbid curiosity or the soft, quiet desire for more out of life, the young woman found herself lifting the plastic pen up in the air anyways before she took a deep breath and swallowed. "Elara Power... Make Up!" The next minute passed by in a whirl of sparkles and ribbon. Gone were the plain sweater and skirt, the clunky thick glasses she'd worn since she was a child. Fabric at her knees rose and grew thin, the comforting shelter of the long sleeves of her top evaporated, leaving her skin feeling bare and exposed to the world. As she landed on her feet with a click of her boots, Sophia Thomas had disappeared entirely, a new, bewildered looking woman, standing in her place. The feeling was incredible and unexplainable - then again, so was a talking cat, right? Hands stretched out in front of her and eyes focused on the tan skin for the first time in years without her glasses as an aid. Her surprised expression blossomed into something excitable; sure, she couldn't apply logic to the situation, but.... but.... Well, for once, she simply didn't care. "Sailor Elara, huh?" The name rolled off her tongue, a familiar feeling coming over her, as if it felt right, despite never having used the term before. "And you said I'm a... senshi? Was that what you called it?" Her gaze moved down, a happy flush coming over her as she studied the odd new clothing she now donned. Shy little Sophie had left the building and this confident new stranger - this Elara - had swooped in to take her place.

Ghouliboo SRY ABOUT THE WAIT BB ;~; The sparkles and pomp and circumstance surrounding a brand new senshi awakening for the first time never got old. The henshin spectacle left Itsuki speechless (very briefly), his feline eyes fixated on the rebirth of a star left dormant for countless years. Every senshi was special to Itsuki. With a wave of his tiny, furry arms, Itsuki exclaimed, "Haaai~ Sailor Elara is on the scene! A magical warrior - senshi - you're someone special! I should come up with a good nickname for you... maybe... Gooshy-san! Hai, Gooshy-san had a good ring to it. Sailor Elara, Senshi of Slime~ It's part of my job to teach you how to be a good senshi and guide you as best I can, so... I'm a tiny sensei, of sorts!" >w< Itsuki seemed quite proud of himself for coming to that conclusion. Back-patting aside, Elara deserved a good explanation of just what the crap was going on with the outfit and the henshin pen and the sparkles and... talking cats. With many tiny and furry gestures (complete with a voice that seemed like it belonged to someone much bigger), Itsuki did his best to explain. "Senshi are magical warriors who have sparkling stars in their hearts, and it's up to cats like me to find and awaken you so you can help save the planet! You see, there is a very bad organization of people here in Destiny City who are trying to enslave the Earth, and we need your help, Gooshy-san! They are called the Negaverse. We're trying our best to save the innocent people, Gooshy-san. There are lots of other senshi and even allies called knights out there, but... oh! I should get you your phone!" This time there wasn't any sort of enormous, impractical flip to produce the phone. Instead, Itsuki simply squished up his face and the lilac star on his forehead produced a soft glow. In midair, the magical energies seemed to coalesce into a smartphone, which fell neatly into Sailor Elara's hands. "Our senshi come equipped with the latest and greatest of Mauvian technology, including smartphones~" The lilac point's fluffy tail swished back and forth like a happy dog's might. "With this, you can gain access to all sorts of features, including a senshi contact list! All you have to do is point your camera and click! Taking a picture of a senshi registered them on your phone's contact list! It works on cats too~ Try it!" Immediately, Itsuki flopped over to give Elara an Instagram-worthy kitty pose. Everyone knew the internet was made of cats anyway.

Her? Someone special? Wide eyes watched as the small cat explained... well, what sounded like a lot of mumbo jumbo. Sailor Elara, senshi of... slime? Gooshy-san? Okay, gross but... Itsuki really didn't give her a lot of time to dwell on the icky idea of having anything to do with terms like goosh and slime, not when his tiny little mouth was going a mile a minute with explanations. Bad people trying to enslave humanity? Senshi, knights.... phones?? The small device materialized out of thin air, dropping into her open palms that barely had enough time to actually catch it before it fell from the air it dangled in. Curiosity had her immediately opening it to investigate as attentive ears drank in all the information the excitable feline had to provide her with. At his insistence, she lifted her phone and positioned it to take in the entire, adorable fuzziness in front of her. A quick click from the camera app had information already downloading into the system, amethyst eyes quickly scanning over the information popping up on the screen of her phone. "So... what you're saying is, I'm a superhero? Sort of?" Math, she got. Science, she could whiz through. Superhero stuff? She was definitely going to need to study up on this subject! Lucifer Force No worries, you're amazing <3

"Hai! Superhero! You can't fly though, gomen nasai. There's so much to teach you! There's the Negaverse and their ranks and learning how to scan for people because now you have a magical radar and oh, subspace! There's so much to teach you, Gooshy-san. Do you have maybe... a few hours?" Itsuki tilted his head, little fluffy ears flopping with the movement. He wanted to be thorough, despite his incredible enthusiasm, and would stay by Elara's side until she felt comfortable enough to try patrolling with friends. "There's also Knights and your magical attack and OH, jumping! You're stronger and faster in this form, Gooshy-san. You can run faster and jump higher and punch harder than you ever thought you could before! There are other cats out there too, and many other senshi and Knights! I'll introduce you to some, so you can patrol with someone else for safety. Oh, I should talk about that too... hmm..." The magical talking feline padded up to Elara's booted feet and sat down for a moment. "Gooshy-san, it may be more than a few hours. You don't have anything important to do, right?"
