The dormitory common room was mostly empty.
Mostly, save for a single person who was currently lounging on one of the couches as though he owned the place, feet outstretched and propped up on the coffee table in the middle of the room. Nash had a blanket over his lap and a pillow resting on his stomach, arms around it as he jammed buttons on October's stupid runic 3DS in a game he couldn't figure out.
He was dressed in a pair of form fitting black, artfully torn pants and several layered tanktops in shades of neon green and black. A sweatshirt lay beside him, crumpled up, and his hair was loose around his bare shoulders, Nash's black painted hands wrapped around the 3DS.
He tried jumping over a wall, failed, and promptly died. The game made a beeping sound of dismay.

Fred always wished the island had a place to really dress up. As things were it simply didn't and he was forced to simply dress up a little bit every day. This took a careful guaging of the danger level of any given place and strategic excercise gear when the danger was just too high.
Mercifully that day he was off duty and had dug out one of his more interesting suits to match his new eyepatch. His hair also was something he was just having to deal with, finding that his straighteners didn't work without runic embellishment and that the island was incredibly humid, he'd had to restyle his hairstyle around the natural kink of his hair.
He had been heading to the common room to sketch out some new ideas and patterns for shirts, expecting it to be empty but was surprised to see someone already there, someone with a computer of some description in his hands. The guy looked pretty decent, he thought, and found himself allowed to think it.
"Did you get that runiced mate?" he asked cheerfully.

Nash, too involved in the stupid game to hear footsteps, didn't notice he wasn't alone until he heard a voice speak from not too far away. The little character on screen fell off the ledge and made another beeping sound; Nash swore inventively before looking up.
"My brother did, not me," said Nash, waving the console. "I don't really know what I'm doing with it, though, I don't play games, really."
The screen had switched to the title one now. Nash gave the man a flicker of a once over, eyes moving from the hair to the face to the rest of his outfit and then back up to his face again.
"Not that Roswell guy from game night," said Nash lazily. "The other one, right? The one on Twitter sometimes?"

"Yeah. Fred." he offered helpfully with a wink. "I'm the good twin, the one who isn't uptight!"
He moved to sit down on the chair nearest Nash. "Still really good at dares though. He told me about it."
The console got a glance. "I was never a computer game guy, always too busy for it, never had the time."

He snorted in amusement.
"I dunno, he didn't seem all that uptight during the Dare Night," said Nash, a grin unfurling across his lips. He watched Fred move across the room, amusement in his voice as he added, "Does that run to both siblings? I was thinking of hosting another night soon. Gotta get more people involved."
He glanced at the 3DS himself and made a face.
"My brother's obsessed with it, but I don't really care. I was bored, and everyone else is busy, so here I am."

"I have never once turned down a dare." Fred said proudly. "Tom and I are reigning truth or dare champions." And he couldn't help throwing back his shoulders proudly. "So if you hosted another night I guarantee we'd have you thrashed mate."
He nodded. "But its true this place needs just a bit more entertainment. It's fine but I bet it could be better."

That was an interesting tidbit to remember. Nash recalled quite clearly how into the game Roswell had been, and hearing that his twin was just as into it made his smile broaden, made his grin turn almost sharklike with approval.
"That sounds like a dare in and of itself," he said with a laugh, relaxing back against the couch. "What sort of entertainment did you have in mind?"

"Maybe it is." Fred said. "Guess we'll see."
"And, I think that's my problem mate, I'm not sure what kind of entertainment I should go after really. Before the island I did a lot of things I don't intend to do ever again and those made up most of my time. Gotta find myself some new hobbies, only so long I can do tailoring in a day."

Nash made a hmmm-ing sound in the back of his throat.
"I'm assuming you're talking about really shitty, terrible things," he said, raising an eyebrow as he turned his head to look at Fred. "Tailoring's pretty cool, though. You make clothes? Or just repair them? And I'm sure we could find you some other fun hobbies. What're you into?"

“The MOST shitty terrible things” Fred said grimly. “But going to make things so much better from here on out, do all the things I always wanted to. The world is my oyster.”
“I do both.” He said. “Went to school for it even, completely ******** useless qualifications I know, but felt like it, and it works out here.”
“Other than that well. Wonderland, I ******** love it. And er, fighting I guess.”
He couldnt say /crime/

That was interesting. Nash dearly wanted to ask what sort of the most shitty terrible things Fred was talking about, but refrained - barely. Instead he said airily, "A ********' refreshing outlook for life here on the island. Everyone's so damn depressed about being here. There's a lot of s**t better here than was elsewhere."
Nash closed the 3DS, giving Fred his full attention now. "Any clothes you're like, super interested in? Like, type and all that stuff," he added, in case it wasn't clear. "Or are you just someone with like, a lot of interests and s**t?"
His grin widened. "Fighting's the best. I'm not big on knowledge of Wonderland; you mean like the books and stuff?"

"Yeah I've noticed. So many people just so grim about it. I don't know if they noticed the amazing weapons, wages, stuff no one has ever seen before. No police, no limitations!" and there was genuine joy and enthusiasm in his tone. "Not to mention everyone looks ******** completely great, like a runway show."
"It's great and if they won't notice it I will."
He nodded. "Hats. I like hats. And suits. Men's fashions, but I'll turn my hand to anything. I love to dabble. Simple is harder, I like everything to make a statement."
"And yep! Wonderland. Like the books. Love it, it's something I really relate to, even more now here than ever. Weird s**t and you just have to go with it before its too late. What sort of thing you into?" he asked.

It was rare to hear someone actually praise the island; Nash hadn't thought there was anyone capable of it. He liked Fred's enthusiasm and eagerness to be here; it was like a breath of fresh air in a different way than what he was used to.
"And everyone gets a ******** badass weapon, even if the voice in your head thing is kinda weird," Nash said. "But yeah, I mean, everyone does look great. It's like having everything right in front of your face to watch."
And he did appreciate a good show. Nash was liking Fred more and more.
"Statements are hella great," he said airily. "I like clothes too, maybe a different kind, though. I like to wear a lot of s**t. As for what I'm into..."
Nash lapsed into silence for a moment, pondering. "Dares. People. Fighting. Just doing s**t."

"No kidding." Fred said with a nod to Nash as if making a point. "Everyone looks like they walked right out of hollywood, I've seen some serious muscle since I got here and even everyone's skin looks bright and healthy. Model island. Worth the voice in your head for sure."
Alongside all the other unspoken perks.
"You look good too." he said with a critical eye over the other man, appreciating his fashion sense.
"Dares too, excellent! And yeah, fighting has a lot to be said for it. Clearly a man of good ******** taste mate."

He wondered, not for the first time, what sort of life Fred had lived before Deus. But he did have a point; everyone on Deus was attractive in one way or another, showy and exciting and fun. Nash liked it here better than he'd liked anywhere else before.
Mostly.
Nash grinned. "Thanks. You're into muscle then? Or just appreciating the form of all?" he added, just to be obnoxious because he was Nash and it was an inherent trait. "I like to think I look pretty damn good, though, so the compliment's appreciated."
He let his gaze flicker over Fred's form, then back up. "Fighting and adrenaline and all that s**t," said Nash. "Makes it fun."
