[CHAL] Piqued Interest (Connlan x Saisana)

The mountain range, the harsh weathering wind that carried the deep salty air on the breeze, this must've been the place, very little other like it. Well that's what the birds'd said anyway. Rugged terrain for rugged lions, much like Connlan himself, or atleast fancied himself to be as he started himself across the rocks and stones of the fjord.
He'd heard many whispers and intriguing gossip from the birds passing overhead, or from travelling rogues that a windswept and salt riddled pride was harbored within an area very few traveled - unless they were interested.

And he was interested, very much so.
He had been without a pride since adolescence, none had really taken his fancy despite there being so many strong and solidly founded family units and even war units across the vast serengeti. A pride living here though? Well that had definitely caught the emerald male's attention to say the least.

As he wandered, he also wondered. Who would be the first he would meet here? From what he'd heard, to get in there were two choices - join as a Thrall which Connlan had no interest in being what so ever, or challenge a member of the pride in a duel. That sounded right up his path. But who would be partner in this dance?

Saisana was returning from a little adventure of her own with a different rogue male, one who wasn't interested in joining the pride but rather learning about those that lived here and the surrounding area. He had been on the hunt for fish scales which the Reaver found odd, but she helped him in his quest. Her fur was still a bit damp from the sea but it was drying nicely now that she was back on dry land.

The male caught her attention from a distance, a splash of green among the normally grey or rocky background. She tilted her head and trotted over in his direction, a grin on her face.

"Hey there, stranger. You're awfully close to the border. I'd suggest turning around unless you're looking to become a Stormborn."

When something caught the corner of his eye, he turned and looked over the female with braids in her fur and a thick sturdy build - oh goodness he'd enjoy it here no doubt about it, if his challenge went well. Either way the whole business sounded entertaining in any case and he gave a cocky grin right back at the lioness as he approached in a casual manner.

"Well I'd not be close to the border if I didn't intend on it, bonny lass." Just because he was about to challenge this female didn't meant he couldn't try and be a smooth talker about it, he hadn't seen a lioness - never mind a good looking one like this - in far too long. It never hurt to be flirty.
He offered a bow of his head politely and then raised his eyes again.
"If you'll take my challenge that is?"

Saisana had to laugh at the rogue and his charming air. The male she had just been with had been similar in his manner of speaking, smooth and sweet and not at all effective on Sai. She appreciated the attention, though, even if it was something he did to every female he came across.

"You'd be surprised how many travel this way without realizing the situation they're putting themselves into," she said, flicking her tail with amusement. It seemed this one wanted in, though, and she nodded as he questioned her.

"Of course. Let's see what you're made of. Hopefully Stormborn material!"

Lowering her head, she changed her attitude from casual to intent, golden eyes watching the green male. She slowly circled him, sizing him up, before darting in to see how he'd react. She reached out a paw as well but had no intention on hitting him. She just wanted to see if he'd flinch or react in a more defensive way.

When the other laughed at his flirtatious attempts he simply smiled, eh it was worth a shot in any sense, but probably best to focus on this challenge. After a moment or sizing up and steadying himself on his paws he watched her go from the smile to the intense look that he'd missed in females. Amazing creatures they were. One moment they could be loving and soft with cubs and the next moment as vicious as a hurricane with just as much power.

He stood his ground and watched her circling, steadying his breathing as he stood perfectly still and let his deep blue eyes watch what she was doing before she pounced. Ofcourse his response was to flinch, but he noticed she didn't have her claws out and internally had to smirk. A feint? A testing one to be sure.

So he flinched, however in a split second he also turned and smacked his own clawless paw against hers before she retracted it and offered her a cocksure grin. Many tussles had been won out in the rogue lands and this pride intrigued him to be sure, he definitely wanted in.
"I do intend to prove that much, dear lady." And with that tried to aim a quick - but light - bap on her nose.

Saisana let out a bark of laughter as the green male flinched, but reacted in time to smack her paw. He had quick reactions which was good and he didn't completely cower away from the attack. Both very good qualities to have in a Stormborn. The rather gracious way of speaking was a bit strange to her, but it seemed rogues came with that sort of charm if this one and the one she had just went swimming with were anything to go by.

"Saisana will do," she said, giving him her name as his paw came to swat her nose. She allowed it and used his close proximity to her advantage, pouncing at him with a playful snarl. Her claws remained within her paws but she didn't hold back her full weight, intent on seeing how he took a hard hit.

"Very well Saisa-OOF!" He took the playful tackle like a champ, all the weight being thrown into him by the lioness as all the wind got knocked out of him and he snickered just a touch as he was tumbled onto his back. His large paws rested on her shoulders as he watched her and quietly thought over his next move.

"Name's Connlan." Was his simple reply before he rested his hindpaws on her belly and tried to push her off, not to harm her, just to gain some distance before attempting his own clawless tackle. "Hope I'm atleast impressing you somewhat."

Although the hit wasn't aiming to hurt, Saisana hadn't held back the power she knew she had. It was a solid hit, too, sending the both of them tumbling to the ground. She smirked down at the lion - Connlan, apparently - before feeling his paws slide up against her belly and enough pressure was applied to push her off. She rolled neatly to the side and got up on her paws, amused with how happily he was sparring. It didn't take much to decide if one was good Stormborn material or not and it was clear that he had the makings of a fine Reaver given his attitude towards the spar.

"Just a little," she teased, stepping back a bit to dodge his swipe. She held her ground for a moment more before charging in again, interested to see what he'd do with an attack that was similar to the one she had just done.

Needless to say, the big emerald lion was more than chuffed with how this spar was going, Saisana had given him a good challenge -
she was bulky and strong and he assumed definitely more than capable, if she'd wanted to, of ripping his throat out. Which he was thankful she wasn't at the moment.
The teasing tone in her voice was more than a positive sign to him as he aimed a smile her way and watched her closely again.

Another pounce? Another feint? Another test most likely...it was the same as the last time where he'd flinched unsure of what was coming. But now he steadied himself slightly till she was close enough before, at the last moment, moving out of her path and attempting to gently pounce into her side to try and tumble her like she had tumbled him.

"And now?" He asked with a big warm grin.

Saisana was hopeful for the big guy, she really was, but if he reacted at all like the last few times she'd have to give him a pass. But to her delight he dodged the pounce and sent her tumbling to the ground. They ended up in a heap, this time with her on the bottom, and she gave a hearty laugh at the comment.

"Now I say welcome to the Stormborn, brother!" she said, giving his shoulder a friendly slap with her paw before shoving him off of her. She rose from the ground with a grin and nodded her head in the direction of the pride.

"Come with me, I'll show ya where home is. I think you're gonna like it here. Careful, though, with manners like yours you'll have all of the Freeborn and Thrall ladies crawlin' all over you," She rolled her eyes fondly but set off with a trot, more than pleased to show the new Stormborn the ropes.
