It was late.
In fact, it was very, very late, bordering somewhere after two in the morning. It was a good thing that it was one of Yuuri's nights where he stayed back at his own apartment, because Annabergite was taking way too long to get rid of this youma. Not that he wanted Yuuri away, because he missed him while he was away - but it was hard to continue to explain why he came home late consistently.
Especially because right now, Annabergite's foot was currently stuck.
The youma - some scorpion looking thing - had latched onto his ankle and was now slowly dragging him back towards a shadowy part of the street. Or, at least, it was trying to. It wasn't getting very far, because Annabergite's gloved fingers were currently clenched around the edge of a brick building, digging in to keep himself steady.
"Get - off - of - me - " He squawked, kicking out with his free leg.
It did, predictably, nothing. Annabergite kicked again.
"Off!"

There was absolutely no reason for Kamacite to approach the aura of the Captain close by. It sounded like they were in distress, which meant that Kamacite definitely should just teleport the hell out of there and go back to his room and maybe work on some school work.
He definitely didn’t have any reason to get involved when there was a youma already trying to eat a Captain, and he didn’t have to be reminded how much youma hated senshi.
“Does it not listen to you?” he asked quietly, crouching down on the edge of the building above the Captain and the youma, his arms wrapped around his knees, black hair falling over his shoulders and farther down the building. He'd been curious, but he wasn't planning on being stupid. He was still in training and didn't know this person.
And the second the youma tried going after him, Kamacite was prepared to teleport the heck away from there.

He hadn't even noticed the power signature, which just went to show just how much Annabergite was paying attention to his surroundings. But he wasn't about to let that be known at all, instead whipping his head around to stare at the dark haired young man that was now peering at him from the top of the two story building.
"It'll listen to me!" said Annabergite indignantly, even as he kicked out again, this time in a slightly awkward way as he tried to make it look as though this was actually and clearly the purpose of the evening. "I'm just giving it a bit of training, that's all."
The youma tugged at him again. Annabergite slid a few more inches. He cleared his throat meaningfully.
"Uh - yes - good - good boy, that's right, good boy - wait, who are you anyway?"

Kamacite’s brows drew together in slight concern, but mostly confusion, as the Captain insisted that the youma would listen to him. That he was training it.
“Why?” he asked, unable to stop himself. Carefully, Kamacite settled down on the edge of the building, allowing his legs to hang over, palms against the ledge. “It’s feral, isn’t it? And not very strong. Oh, is it bound to you? I’ve heard officers can do that with youma,” he said as he watched the creature tug at the officer again.
“I’m a senshi of the Negaverse,” he said, his voice still quiet. After all, he didn’t want to draw the youma’s attention. Not when it was already distracted by chewing on the man down below. “There aren’t a lot of my kind.” Probably because they got eaten by youma.

He was definitely training it. Definitely. It wasn't like he had accidentally knocked into it, and it had gotten mad, and tried to eat him, it was definitely that Annabergite was training it to be a better youma, and everything was perfectly fine.
Everything was perfectly fine.
Annabergite stared. He couldn't see the other very well in the dim lighting, but he caught glimpses here and there of bright clothing and dark hair. "What do you mean why?" he spluttered, indignation lacing his voice. "All youma are meant to be under the control and guidance of the Negaverse. Why wouldn't I be training it?"
Possibly because it was still trying to eat him. Annabergite wiggled his foot.
"I know what you are," he snapped. "I said who are you? As in, what's your name? Where are you from? Who do you belong to? All Negaverse senshi are like, the Negaverse's private property or something, right?"

Against his will, Kamacite felt his face burn red at the man’s words. Fingers dug into the concrete ledge of the roof as his throat tightened, heart beating fast against his chest.
Was that really what others in the Negaverse thought about their senshi? They were just private property? Property. Less than human. Less than even youma possibly, as he knew Negaverse officers often bonded with youma and kept them as pets.
Phantom pain from the scar on his neck made Kamacite roll his shoulder, trying to get the feeling to go away, all the while doing his best not to react to this man who stood below him with his pet youma and asking Kamacite to identify himself and his master.
He’d given himself to Wolfeite, but he reeled from the suggestion that he was property. Even with his lack of self worth, he still grew flustered at the very thought.
“My name is Kamacite,” he obediently replied, although there was a clear tension to his still soft words. “I belong to my pack. Then I belong to the Negaverse. And then myself. I am no one’s private property,” he said and then carefully pushed his hair out of the way so he could lean back and rise back to his feet.
“I will leave you to your training, since you seem to have a long way to go with your youma,” he said, letting his hair drop back down around his feet as he turned to head back onto the roof.

He was getting more than a little annoyed. How was it fair that he'd managed to find the only youma in the city who wasn't going to listen to him just because he'd accidentally stepped on it? And how was it that he'd managed to stumble across a most unhelpful corrupted senshi who was basically just being irritating on purpose?
It was deeply, deeply unfair.
"Kamacite," said Annabergite, instinctively losing the name inside of his memory almost immediately. "Well, Kamacite - hey!"
He was walking away. The little brat was walking away and leaving him to deal with this stupid youma on his own, and talking about some sort of pack like he was a wolf or something and he was leaving Annabergite with his foot stuck in this stupid youma's mouth.
"Come back!" he yelped "You can't just - " He kicked out again; the youma gave a squawk.
"You're being very immature."

Kamacite froze, his eyes squeezing shut at the command of come back. This was stupid. He should just walk away. He should let this rude Captain to suffer the consequences of not knowing how to handle youma. He knew better than to go near the creatures. They would try to attack him and probably try to eat him. At least as a Captain, the other man should be more than capable.
“If you’re having that much trouble with it, why don’t you just teleport away from it?” Kamacite asked over his shoulder. He would really rather just leave. It had been a bad decision to approach because this man was rude and insulting and quite useless at the moment.
And here Kamacite was thinking he didn’t know what he was doing. Apparently there were others in the Negaverse who were worse off than himself.
“My general would be displeased if I wasted my time helping someone who should know what they’re doing,” he said, fairly certain that Wolfeite would have no problem leaving the Captain there with the youma to fend off.

There was a long moment of silence.
"Uh," said Annabergite, as the youma chewed happily on his leg. "I mean. I don't need to teleport, should I? I totally shouldn't have to if there's someone who's perfectly capable of helping me, as you so definitely aren't, but anyway, are you going to help me or not?"
He gave Kamacite a stare while simultaneously trying to ignore the very obvious solution that had just been thrown in his face. Teleporting. He'd forgotten entirely about his new ability to teleport, but he wasn't about to tell this upstart little senshi that.
He'd rather be eaten.
Maybe.
"Your General's not very nice then," Annabergite sniffed. "We're on the same side, aren't we?"
The youma gave a wheeze.

”My general is not very nice,” Kamacite agreed, his teeth subconsciously bared in a similar manner to someone else he knew, but nowhere near as intimidating. “My general would want me to keep my distance, to do nothing except let the world crumble and burn as long as he remains on top of it all.”
But Kamacite also wasn’t his general. He wondered if he would be reprimanded for even bothering to offer to help.
“If you would like, I could request help from someone else,” Kamacite generously offered, a pen appearing from subspace so he could open the tablet. “But as I explained before, General Wolfeite would be displeased if I risked my life for someone who would not aid him in his rise to power.”
Now, who would be available to help…? Wolfeite himself? Would that be a waste of the General’s time? Aue maybe? Ochre had offered to help him if needed, but both he and Aue were also Negaverse senshi. There was always Tiberius, as horrible as the cat was to him sometimes.

It was kind of cute how hard this senshi tried to be intimidating. He really was a pretty thing, which Annabergite could appreciate, even if he wasn't about to do more than that, not when he already had the most lovely and beautiful of all boyfriends. But the scare factor was lacking; the arrogance, however, was apparent in spades.
Annabergite gave Kamacite an affronted look. "Your general must not be a very good general, then," he said, with a flippant air of someone who is trying very hard not to care about the fact that a shadow creature is eating their leg. "Or maybe he's just like, really selfish or something."
And also the name General Wolfeite was a stupid name. Who on earth was named Wolfeite?
"Sounds fake," Annabergite said, and teleported.
It was, he had to pride himself on, excellent timing, because he was pretty awesome, and because it gave him a good excuse to pretend that he'd been intending this all along. Annabergite reappeared behind Kamacite, heels clicking on the pavement as he folded his arms across his chest and scowled.
He didn't like scowling. It did not help with crow's feet.
"Fine. I didn't need your help anyway," Annabergite sniffed.

“Perhaps I can arrange a meeting, then you can decide for yourself whether he’s a good General or not,” Kamacite frowned, bristling a little at the insults. No matter what he said, the other wouldn’t believe him unless he met Wolfeite himself. Maybe then his General would rip out the Captain’s throat for disrespecting him.
And then the Captain teleported away from the youma, only to appear behind him. Kamacite stumbled as he turned around, holding onto the tablet so he wouldn’t drop it.
What was this guy’s game? Had he been trying to get Kamacite to help only so he could teleport and leave Kamacite to be eaten by the youma? Kamacite had to remember that not everyone in the Negaverse wanted everyone to succeed. This man might very well be trying to see him be killed and removed as competition or something.
Kamacite frowned and straightened back up. “Then leave. If you don’t need my help, why bother staying to talk to me?”

Annabergite most certainly was not going to go to a meeting with this senshi's general. He had no desire to be eaten alive or attacked or whatever it was that happened with generals, whatever sort of general they were, and besides, he didn't need to meet with a general to know that they weren't that great anyway.
He was still scowling as Kamacite whirled around.
Stupid crow's feet.
"I wasn't bothering to stay and talk to you, I was just - " Annabergite gave Kamacite an incredulous look that bordered on melodramatic, because he was Annabergite, and he rarely did anything that wasn't melodramatic. "I can't believe you were going to leave me there to get eaten, what kind of senshi are you?"
He waved a hand.
"Never mind, I don't need to hear that answer. You've explained yourself perfectly well already. Now are you going to go running back to your general keeper?"
Really, he shouldn't be so snippy, but, well. Annabergite.

Kamacite bristled. Who did this man think he was? Wolfeite trusted him to be able to handle himself, and he also would have been very disappointed should Kamacite end up getting hurt because he bothered to help someone else.
“I -” Kamacite started, but the growling hiss of the youma drew him back to the fact that the creature hadn’t slunk off to the darkness yet. Instead it seemed to want to go after the senshi it didn’t care for.
Startled by the noise, Kamacite stepped backwards, and onto his hair. He winced, stumbled, and fell onto his butt, holding up his arms to keep the youma from --
Forget this. Youma or not, it needed to leave him alone.
“Solar flare!” he shouted, hands pointed at the youma and flashing it and probably the Captain, unintentionally, with a burst of bright light.
It seemed to work, because the youma was whimpering and scuttling off and back down the side of the building. kuropeco There is a brilliant flash of light causing temporary but immediate disorientation and blindness that fades into horribly spotty vision; can last upwards of twenty seconds. The attack does not cause physical damage and is intended as a diversion or distraction. Has an effect radius of 8 feet (although the flash can be seen as one would see any flash), and can be used three times.

The stupid youma was still there.
Annabergite felt a growing sense of annoyance, both with Kamacite or whatever his name was, and the youma, who'd decided it clearly hadn't had enough of him and was now prowling back in an effort to pay him back for accidentally stepping on it.
Except now it was heading towards Kamacite, and Annabergite had only a split second to notice the raised arms before there was a shout and a blast of magic and everything seemed to go white and hazy and fuzzy around him, Annabergite letting out a yelp.
"What on earth - "
He blinked rapidly, trying to dispel some of the spots dancing in his vision, and staggered sideways, swinging an arm out.
"You just attacked me!"
