 Leon's mansion is surrounded by lovely gardens with fountains and blossoming wisteria trees... and beyond that, acres of pristine wilderness. Despite being a high-tech industry guru, he values nature and privacy... His nearest neighbor is over a mile away.

Leon smiled warmly at Anne. "Well, if there's ever anything I can do to help you with your 'studies', just let me know, all right?" he offered. This paranormal stuff was a little bit outside of his area of expertise, and he didn't necessarily believe in all of it either. But then again, he enjoyed stepping outside of his boundaries every now and then - he found it made him a more educated, well-rounded person. Not only that, but there was a sort of dark allure to the Book of Wonders, something about the ancient text that simply piqued his curiosity.
Soon enough, the limousine had come to a halt outside of a huge mansion. The gardens were in full bloom this time of year, and the surroundings looked lovely and serene. Leon opened the back door of the limo, taking a hold of Anne's hand as he helped her out. "Welcome to your new home, my dear!" he exclaimed. "I hope you find it to your liking..." Holding onto her hand, he began to lead her towards the ornate front doors of his mansion. "I'm sure that our dinner is done by now - we should probably go and eat before it gets cold!"

Leon's smile filled Anne with warmth, the sun's rays bounced off him, causing him to shine like an angel, though Anne knew that angels didn't exist, but if that was true, why did she have a bounce in her steps every time she saw him?. "I know a uhh- couple rituals we can do" Anne stuttered at the sight of him, her eyes not straying from his face, he was her savior and she knew it, without him she was lost. The mansion was indeed wonderful, if she were dull she'd think it was the best thing ever. Anne gripped Leon's hand, it felt warm, strong like a bar of steel, yet comfortable. She leaned onto Leon, not because she was too weak to stand, but because she felt a strange sensation when she was close to him.
But none of this was real of course, love didn't exist, she moved away from him and let go, Anne believed that she couldn't feel love, after all she knew it was fake, Leon didn't love her either, he was obsessed with her, after all he took one look at her and decided she was his wife, that couldn't be love, so she wouldn't succumb to it either, she let go of his hand and followed him, keeping a steel face. She would not let herself believe in a lie.

After all, he had no idea what sort of rituals they were or what exactly they would involve. He smiled when she had gripped onto his hand and leaned on him, enjoying being this close to her. It made him very comfortable - gave him a warm, fuzzy feeling.
Abruptly, however, Anne had released his hand without any explanation. Looking over at her, he could see the blank expression on her face. Wondering what had just gotten into her, he wrapped his arm around her waist, holding her close as they walked. Soon enough, they had stepped through the front doors and into the foyer of Leon's mansion. It was every bit and grand and elegant on the inside as it was outside. Gilded crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and a marble fountain stood in the middle of the foyer, between two sweeping staircases.
Suddenly, a strange-sounding meow could be heard from near the stairs. A beautiful, exotic-looking cat came running over to Anne, sniffing at her curiously. She wore a pink diamond-studded collar around her neck. With the markings on her coat, she almost looked like a miniature leopard. She had obviously decided that she could trust Anne, as she began rubbing her head against her legs, purring loudly. She looked at her expectantly, as if demanding affection.
Leon laughed when he saw the cat... "That's my fur-baby, Diana..." he said, grinning at Anne. "She's an African serval cat. She's usually rather shy around strangers... but it seems that she's taken a liking to you, Anne!"

(Don't say it's not good, you're writing is pretty good, if you say it sucks though, you'll begin to believe it and then it will actually suck, if you say your writing is good you'll write better, everything is 90% mental) "Chemicals in the brain chemicals in the brain chemicals in the brain Chemicals in the brain" Anne's brain buzzed in a mantra, repeating that phrase over and over again, she found it became increasingly hard to bottle her feelings, she felt like she was a bottle of soda with a mint thrown in it, she felt pleasingly warm when Leon put her arms around her, way to warm, she began to sweat, "your house is warm" she remarked, though Leon would find that it wasn't warm at all in the house, a brief flash of a smile appeared on her face, but was quickly snuffed out.
"Don't worry none of them are messy" said Anne, who's book was based off of blood sacrifices. she looked at the cat as she said this, Leon saw a fluffy animal, Anne saw a ingredient for rituals, she petted the cat, it was quite cute,
she envied the cat, it went through life blissfully unaware of the horrors it had,
but a small part of her was glad, for the cat was blessed with stupidity, yet they still acted like cynics, perhaps the reason why the cat liked her so much, was that it envied her intellect.

It didn't feel particularly warm in the house to Leon... but then again, he and Anne were different people, and most likely had different preferences when it came to temperature. "Well, if it starts to get too hot for you, just let Hal know you want the AC turned on." said Leon with a smile. "That's the name of my home's integrated computer system, of course. We live in what you'd call a 'smart house'. Here, allow me to demonstrate... Hal, turn off the lights!" As soon as Leon had spoken these words, the crystal chandeliers on the ceiling overhead both went dark. The foyer became considerably dimmer, although there was still enough light coming in through the windows to see by. "See what I mean?"
Leon led Anne down a hallway, with Diana following closely at their heels. Soon enough, they had arrived at a small yet elegant dining room. It had been set up for a romantic dinner - complete with candles, soft music, and a vase full of roses and an expensive bottle of champagne upon the table. "You know, I've been saving this Krug Clos D'Ambonnay for a special occasion." he said, pulling the cork from the bottle and filling two long-stem crystal glasses with the sparkling liquid. "I'd certainly say that this qualifies as one!" He then kindly pulled out a chair for Anne, before sitting down himself.
Soon after they were seated, a butler came into the room, bearing a silver platter. He set their steaming-hot dinner down on the table in front of them. The main dish was spaghetti and meatballs, just as Anne had wanted. There was also a basket of garlic bread, as well as a green salad made with fresh vegetables from the garden, and drizzled with Italian dressing. It all looked so delicious! After serving the humans their food, he set a bowl filled with raw salmon down onto the floor for Diana. The serval cat meowed appreciatively, then began to devour the fish, a loud purr escaping from her.
Leon thanked his butler kindly before he had left the room. He then picked up his champagne glass, raising it in a toast to Anne. "To a bright, happy future!" he proclaimed.

Anne asked Hal to turn the heating down, but nothing seemed to work, but the heat felt nice, it was like being in a warm bathtub, though she didn't like the advanced AI, she found it to be lazy, mankind's greatest motivator was it's laziness, every struggle was removed with something else. "Isn't it lazy to have a robot do everything for you? she mused, though she tried to sound bland and monotonous, there was a odd cheeriness to her voice, as if for once in her life she was happy. the darkness in her life was getting brighter and brighter, the warm feeling she had was addicting, it filled her empty heart, she couldn't handle it. it was happiness, she found herself muttering "chemicals in the brain" like some kind of madwoman, love couldn't exist, but the feeling she had was awfully similar.
The dinner had a romantic atmosphere to it, in a heartbeat she inhaled the spaghetti, she had forgotten that she was still malnourished from her harsh days as a product, she wiped away spaghetti sauce from her mouth in a unladylike fashion, she was too hungry for elegance, she found herself losing control over her emotions, everything about this dinner was new and happy for her, though when Leon said those five words and toasted, she could no longer control herself, the feeling she had wasn't chemicals in the brain, it was love!.
blushing furiously she threw herself at Leon, causing the champagne to spill, she grabbed him by the head and kissed him on lips, she could dedicate her life to him, in fact from now on, she decided that she would.
Upon realizing what she had done, she quickly sat back down, this time she couldn't pretend as if nothing happened, a truth was shown by a kiss, she looked at her feet, embarrassed by her lack of control, but for the first time in forever, she had a big grin on her face.

When Anne had aked Hal to turn the heat down, there was a momentary silence as the heat was turned off, followed by a soft hum as the air conditioner switched on. It became noticably cooler inside the home. "Well, the AI doesn't do everything for me... mainly just controls the lighting, climate control, and security systems." answered Leon "Yes, I guess you could say it's a bit lazy... but there's nothing wrong with that if you ask me! It could be argued that laziness is in itself a motivator for society's evolution. By creating machines to perform menial labor on our behalf, we give ourselves more time to devote to intellectual pursuits." He opened his mouth as if to speak more, but then decided against it. He could go on for hours about such things, and he didn't want to bore Anne with a lecture.
Leon saw the way that Anne was practically inhaling her spaghetti... but he didn't mind at all. No doubt, she was malnourished after having lived in that horrible slave market... Plus, this was a private dinner, not some formal event - there was no need for grace or elegance.
What happened next came as a pleasant surprise. Anne had thrown herself at Leon, causing champagne to spill onto his shirt and into his lap... And the next thing he knew, her lips were upon his... He returned the kiss with feverish passion, rubbing his hands up and down her back as his tongue danced against hers. His heart pounded wildly with desire... Time itself seemed to stand still, making this magical moment seem to last a blissful eternity.
When their lips finally parted, Leon found himself only wanting more... "Well... you're just full of surprises, aren't you?" he asked, grinning at her across the table. "Don't worry, I like surprises..." He took a bite of his garlic bread, then smiled at her longingly. "You know... after setting foot in that awful slave market, I could use a bath. After dinner, how would you like to take a nice, hot, relaxing bath with me?" He had a jacuzzi-style tub with bubble jets in his bathroom - and he was sure that it would be a romantic, relaxing experience for them both.
Diana had now finished the food in her bowl. She leapt up onto a small table nearby, where she laid, watching Leon and Anne with an typical feline expression of indifference.

It didn't feel cooler for Anne, if anything the house heated up, she had a responsive to Leon's comment on technology, but she had forgotten it in the heat of the moment, though she knew that she disagreed with it, laziness is the ultimate stagnation in life, it completely stops society from moving out of their comfort zone, thus turning it into a shallow society that only cares about wasting their days on entertainment, the meaning of life is now to entertain oneself, not explore and discover new things. Anne didn't fit into that mold of society, if she had never found that book, her life would have absolutely no meaning until now.
Anne wasn't surprised by Leon returning the kiss, she burned with romantic fervor, out of all the things in her life that she'd done, this was new and it was amazing, though this magical moment only lasted a brief second, leaving her wanting more, she pulled in closer and planted a kiss on his lips again, cutting him off, she was high on a feeling, with a gigantic smile on her face, she had never been happier in her life, "I'd love to!" she exclaimed with enthusiasm, something that she had never shown until now.

The next thing Leon knew, Anne's lips were upon his once again. He returned the kiss with even more passion than before, his tongue dancing with her own. Moaning softly into the kiss, he ran his hands up and down her back. When their lips finally parted, there was a huge grin on his face. His heart was pounding in his chest, and felt as if it would surely skip a beat. "I'm falling for you already, Anne." he said softly, gazing longingly into her eyes. He was glad that she had agreed to take a bath with him - he was definitely looking forward to it.
Soon enough, Leon had finished with his dinner. He looked over to see that Anne had cleared her plate as well. Just then, the butler had returned to the room. He cleared their dirty dishes off the table, then set their dessert in front of them. It was one of Leon's favorites - a hot blackberry cobbler, served a la mode with vanilla ice cream on top. There was only one bowl of it, but it was more than large enough for both of them. There were also two spoons in the bowl, so they could share if they wished.
"Here, Anne... try some of this." said Leon softly. He took a spoonful of the cobbler, holding it to her lips gently so he could feed it to her. "Well... what do you think?"

"Like you haven't already" she joked, giggling for once in her life, she had never felt emotions like this before, unknown feelings were swirling inside her, unknown feelings known as happiness, she held onto him, the two were practically sitting in the same chair at this rate, yet as small as the chair was, the chair had enough room for both of them, "I'm falling for you too" she added, poking him on the nose playfully, she'd never acted cute either. the meaning of life for her has widened, now it doesn't include a book, it also includes Leon. A Couple hours ago she hated the idea of being his wife, now she felt warm at the mere mention of it.
She put the spoon in her mouth without touching it, eating the Cobbler out of his spoon, feeling numb with warmth as she did so, "Can I have some more?" She asked, she could eat with her own spoon, but it felt better this way, she'd do anything for Leon and let him do anything to her.

Leon had never felt quite this happy before as he was right now, here sitting beside Anne. Even in his previous relationships, there was always a sensation of dread and foreboding, a certainty that things would eventually collapse. He didn't feel this way with Anne, however. As he looked into her lovely eyes he was almost certain that he had finally found his soulmate. He could see himself living a long, happy life with her and growing old together. He chuckled when she poked him on the nose... he loved the way she was acting so cute! It seemed he had finally brought her out of her shell, and he was glad for this fact.
"Of course you can have more, my dear!" said Leon kindly. He took another spoonful of cobbler and ice cream, feeding it to her. He looked down at the second spoon, wondering if she would feed him as well. But even if she didn't, it was perfectly fine with him... Diana laid at Anne's feet, her tail thumping against the floor as she purred contently.
Leon waited for Anne to swallow her next bite of dessert. "So Anne... have you ever wanted to travel the world?" he asked her. He loved to travel... to experience the world and all it had to offer. The wonders both natural and man-made, the music, the culture, the food. In his opinion, it was one of the greatest benefits of being wealthy - and it was something that he wanted to share with her.

Anne could see the same thing in Leon's eyes, she'd never been in a relationship before, she saw love as this silly immature thing, as nothing but a obsession, but she knew now that love was real. In a way she was glad that she became a slave, despite all the suffering she went through, she'd met one of the greatest men in the world, one that gave her life meaning. Anne found herself lost in his deep blue eyes, like being in a boat on a relaxing sea, she never wanted to reach the shore. She smiled and ate the Cobbler, each scoop as tasty as the last, She was so far out of her shell, that the shell had ceased to exist, but that was a good thing.
"I'd love to!" she agreed with enthusiasm, if she'd never came out of her shell, she would never agree, she had spent some time travelling as well, but found it boring, every country was either torn apart, or so perfect it was boring, but with Leon, everything had color again. The world was grey and bleak before she met him, happiness was also just chemicals in the brain, but now it seemed she was wrong, Leon was a bright lamp that shined up her life. "Where to?" she asked, anywhere was fine for her, as long as he was there, she was happy anyways.

As Leon gazed into Anne's lovely eyes, he found himself lost in them once again... he was glad that she loved the idea of travelling the world with him. "Well, I would like to take you all over the world... there are so many fascinating places I've been that I'd love to share with you." he said "Out of all the countries I've been to, my favorite is Vietnam. It tends to get a bad rep because of the war, but it's really one of the most amazing places you can imagine. We can go hiking in the jungle, or relax on the beautiful beaches... the cities are so alive and filled with culture - and the food itself is worth the trip." He smiled at her, just imagining how much fun they'd have together on a vacation in Vietnam.
Soon enough, Leon and Anne had finished their dessert, leaving an empty bowl. Leon drank the last of his champagne, then rose to his feet, gently taking a hold of Anne's hand. "So, Anne... let's go and take that bath now." he said, grinning at her.
Leon led Anne out of the dining room and down the hall, then up the stairs. Diana followed closely at their heels, of course. Soon enough, they had arrived at the master bedroom. It's central feature, of course, was a large four-poster bed, covered in luxurious silk sheets. There was also a fireplace, 'his and hers' walk-in closets, as well as a balcony with a lovely view of the gardens. "This is where you and I will be sleeping, my love... I hope you find it to your liking." he said, smiling warmly at her. Diana ran over and leapt up onto the bed, where she sat down and began preening her fur.
The master bathroom was adjacent to the bedroom. Leon turned on the water to the large marble tub, getting the water at just the right temperature. He then proceeded to light candles around the room, setting a romantic mood. He poured scented bath oils into the tub, then tossed in a handful of rose petals. Finally, he stripped out of his clothes, showing no sign of embarassment or shame at being seen this way by Anne. He climbed into the tub, sighing contently as the warm water flowed around him. "Come inside, Anne... the water is perfect!" he said, smiling at her.

The thought of travelling the world was boring, the thought of travelling the world with Leon was exciting, Though she was skeptic about going to Vietnam, she'd go just because Leon was their, She smiled and nodded along, "I'd go just for the food" she laughed along with him, her neglect at the hands of her captor's, made her love food. But she had felt the pain of her neglect wear off, she no longer felt cold, so weak that she could barely stand, now she felt like she could climb a mountain. Anne downed the last of her Champagne, then took Leon's hand, slightly buzzed from the champagne, she always was a light weight. The thought of a nice bath delighted her, the closest thing she got to a bath in slavery, was being hosed down.
She loved the sight of the bedroom, everything in this house was romantic, everything romantic made her happy, She smiled warmly back. She blushed fiercely at the sight of Leon, She stripped as well, also showing no shame, things were only shameful if you made it so, so Anne didn't care, if anything the only thing that was shameful, was that Leon was perfection while Anne wasn't. She could no longer find out why she hid her feelings, it only bring her sadness, but sad she was no longer. She hastily got into the tub, leaning onto Leon. "This is amazing!" she exclaimed, the water was nice and warm, but Leon was what truly made the pool amazing. "We should go to Vietnam" she asked, interested in his idea of a vacation, "Then get married!" she joked, though in reality, she wasn't actually joking. She already knew that Leon was perfection, so why hold back?.
