While Taijana was taking Kitya with her for the day Kieran was prepping for his own adventure with their youngest, Xenia. His satchel was almost brimming to the edge with various items, mainly parchment that peeked out from beneath the leather flap, and his snaptrotter stood still as she studied the Yaeli man who was strangely dancing about his room throwing various things here and there. At last when he was finished Kieran dusted off his vest and smiled, a genuine expression for the content that he felt as of late. A happy contentment, one that he hadn't felt in a while, one created from sharing space with loved ones. Even if he couldn't currently adventure the man felt as if he were having plenty enough of an adventure dealing with his two energetic daughters.

Ah, speaking of adventure I suppose I should go ahead and find Xenia. The Yaeli pushed his glasses back up on the bridge of his nose, one of the many things about his attire to get disarranged during his packing spree, and also straightened his sash one last time before turning towards the doorway. Now where would his youngest be? Should he just call out for her and hope that she was willing to appear rather than play hide-n-seek?

"Xenia~" Kieran called out, almost like her name was a melody which echoed throughout the main halls of his cavern home, "If you're ready for the day then come here so we can head out!"

Without her older sister around to stop her, Xenia was free to pilfer through Kitya's things. She dug around her hair ties, pulling out the prettiest ribbon she could find and holding it up like a prized artifact. "Ah-ha!" Xenia pushed the bridge of her glasses up onto her nose, twitched the tip, and scurried out of the room as fast as her feet could take her. She knew her sister wasn't around to hear her, but Xenia was so sure that someone would hear the clicking of boot heels on the floor that she'd get caught instantly. Because, after all, not only had she 'borrowed' Kitya's ribbon, but she'd also taken her boots as well!

Naturally they weer a little big, and it made her movements sloppy. Still, the little girl was so excited about her find that she was squealing and giggling the entire time, almost sliding into her own room. She was just about to close the door when she heard her papa, and her heart stopped. The little yaeli leaned on the door frame, peeping out warily. Had he seen her? Was she in trouble? Oh, but- In her haste to take the ribbon she'd forgotten about him entirely!

She hurriedly snatched a shawl off her bed, tossed it around her shoulders and went in search of him. When she finally made it to Kieran her shawl was hanging off one shoulder, she was struggling to walk properly in Kitya's boots, and she had her hands behind her back, hiding her prize.

"Ready, papa."

Kieran could only raise a brow in amusement as he heard his daughter before actually seeing her enter the room, "Are you sure, Xenia?" He replied while trying to hold back his laughter. It was fairly obvious that someone had been in her older sister's clothing, but Kieran wasn't really angry about it as he was too amused by Xenia's antics. She was just fortunate that Kitya wasn't here to see her walking around in one of her favorite pairs of boots, "It seems that your wardrobe is a bit loose for a comfortable ride." The Yaeli crouched down so that he was more to his youngest daughter's level, "You look really dandy and all, Xenia." He commented with a firm nod, "Shame though cause I had gotten you a pair of climbing boots and everything for our adventure today." Something that was honestly true considering he didn't wish for his daughter to get hurt while they went a bit deeper into Yael than usual.

Shifting he moved so that he could toss another satchel over his shoulders,
"Shame I guess I'll have to return them." He smirked towards his snaptrotter who just snorted air at him before shuffling forward to study the youngling as well, "She's spiffy right?" Kieran teased lightly before rubbing the head of his snaptrotter, "So let me go put the boots I have in this bag back and we'll be ready to go, okay Xenia?"

The little yaeli nodded vigorously, all but swamping her tiny face in curls. Even after she'd stopped moving they continued to wreak havoc around her. Not that she seemed to pay much attention; her large, owlish eyes, made only bigger by the spectacles, were staring innocently up at her father.

Her toes curled inside of Kitya's boots, unsure of what to do with all the space found within. How did her sister walk in these things? Well, if Kitya could then so could she! All Xenia needed to do was stuff some socks into the toes and - Xenia furrowed her brow. She wanted to preen under her papa's compliments, but something about the way he watched her gave the girl pause.

Had he noticed....there was no way he could have seen the cookie she hid in her skirt, right?

"You did?!" Xenia gasped. The little one jumped up onto the balls of her feet, barely moving the boots she currently wore at all. She had a pair of boots all her own, just like hi- "DON'T DO THAT! DON'T TAKE THEM BACK!" Panic washed over Xenia like the plague. She shucked Kitya's boots like they were on fire, even stumbling in her efforts to put as much distance between herself and the offending things. "They're not mine! They're Kitya's! I-I was just gonna borrow them."

She scuttled over to the snaptrotter, all but slamming into the poor creature's side. "What kind of boots are they? Are they good for hiking?"

And there it was. Kieran's lips curled up into a small mischievous smile as his daughter reacted to his teasing, "Are you sure though?" He quipped lightly as he seemingly took a few more steps away from Xenia, "I mean I did think that perhaps it was too early for a present..." As the boots were shucked Kieran's smile froze as he just watched the entities flying slowly through the air towards a glass case and then a sigh of relief escaped as they only landed a few spaces away from Xenia instead, "Alright, alright." He replied finally as he stopped and plucked the box from his bag, "Just make sure you give Kitya's boots back, okay? I wouldn't want your sister to come after you while we're on our trip."

A small wooden box with leather straps around it would open to reveal a pair of dark leather boots made for a child. They even had straps around to help tighten the boots around her calves and upper legs - something perfect for if they went into a place where they would have to wade through waters. The bottoms were made with rivets as well which would give his daughter more solid footing and it was that knowledge which allowed him to nod his head firmly at her question, "They should be perfect for hiking."

That stated he set the box on the ground, "Run your sister's shoes back and I'll help you put these on, okay?" Kieran smiled towards his youngest as he waited for her obvious decision.

The little yaeli couldn't have cared less about the glass case, or anything contained within. It was the furthest thing from her mind as soon as her father consented. Presents were the best! Especially when she wasn't expecting them! And, a part of her acknowledged, that they were made so much more special when it was just her and she didn't have to share the moment with her sister.

She took the box into her tiny, dollish hands and sat on the ground with it in her lap. Xenia wasted little time looking over the package; she was just too eager to see what was inside! And when she saw them....oh boy, did she squeal. They were perfect! Xenia pulled the long boots out of the box and held them up, beaming from cheek to freckled cheek, with her glasses damn near falling off.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you, papa! I love them!" She scrambled back up to give her papa a hasty hug, all the while still holding her boots. When she realized she'd have to put them down just to return Kitya's she almost pouted, but the decision was simple enough. Xenia carefully sat hers down, scuttled over to Kitya's discarded pair, and ran them back to her room.

Where she immediately wanted to toss them, but instead, sat them back nicely where she'd gotten them, so she wouldn't have to come back, before running back to her father. "You got my size, right? Not Kitya's?"

Kieran couldn't help the warm feeling that expanded in his chest. If there was anything in the world to instantly fill his spirit with love it was seeing how happy his daughters were. One may say that he did tend to spoil them, but how could he not? The hugs, the love, and all of their reactions made it worth it. And it wasn't like he gave things freely and without reason, even now he had asked his daughter to take back Kitya's boots while they were preparing for their own adventure.

"Yep, I got your size." He smiled before patting a chair, "Let's make sure of that though and put them on already. Then we can get on with our outing, okay?" Kieran held out his hands, "Let me know if you need help and I'll lace them for you."

Xenia quickly hopped up into the chair and handed the boots over to her father just long enough for her to get settled. She was little enough to know that such gifts didn't come freely, or often, so to get boots like this was a special thing. The little girl knew nothing about finances, nor did she know how much or how little her parents had; all she knew was that they didn't give gifts to shut their daughters up, like some mommies and daddies, but rather when they meant something.

That's how she knew today was going to be one of the best days.

She took the boots back when she was ready, and shook her head, "It's okay papa, I got it." Lacing shoes was easy now that Xenia knew her loops! It wasn't...a particularly fast job, nor was she very good at it, but the end product was reliable enough. They were tightened, tied and ready to rumble.

In a demonstration of her abilities, Xenia hopped down from the chair and strutted over to the door, lifting her skirts just enough to see them. But when she lowered her skirt, it covered the pretty boots, which caused a frown. Xenia furrowed her brow before lifting them again, but this time, she gathered them up around her knee and tied it off with a bit of string.

"Hey papa, why do they call snaptrotters snaptrotters?"

Kieran smiled, the motion causing faint wrinkles to form around the corners of his mouth, and the Yaeli couldn't resist giving his daughter a thumbs up at the sight of her bouncing about in those boots. She looked great and more than anything he was delighted that she had taken to his gift so well. He just hoped that she wouldn't be too upset with the mud that would surely get on those boots later. Thankfully he was an expert at cleaning leathers by now so that was the least of his worries.

Mostly he just wanted to prepare himself, a thought which made him check over his own clothing and packed belongings. His own boots were tied tightly and for once the man wore a tight wool tunic that would keep him warm while fitting snug - the opposite of the loose vests he wore while traveling the deserts and beaches of the mainland. Where they were headed after all would be slightly cooler than the beach and Kieran made certain to check over Xenia's own wardrobe, "I have a shawl for you if you need later." He commented to his daughter as she tied up her skirts - perhaps not the best to wear but it would do. He wasn't going to take her anyplace extreme after all.

"Hmm?" Kieran blinked in surprise at her question before letting out a laugh, the noise bouncing through the empty halls of their mostly underground home, "That's a great question! Perhaps because they like to..." Here he dragged out the last syllable before moving forward suddenly to clap his hands together and wrap his arms around his daughter, "They like to snap at things and snatch them up!" He teased as he lifted the youngling in his arms, "See? You've been eaten!" Kieran joked as he made playful biting noises next to his daughter's face before turning them into kisses for her cheeks, "But that's why unless you know the snapper like you know Hunapo you stay away from them, okay?" Not that he would have to worry about that here. Hunapo had come with him from the mainland, a thought which made him glance towards the indigo snapper who was just staring at him with very little amusement in those beady eyes.

Always a critic. Shaking his head Kieran lowered his daughter, "So anymore questions before we go? I have our snacks and things all we need is to get going."

Xenia was hanging onto Kieran's every word. She waited expectantly, anticipation building as he talked...until she was caught, at which point the little yaeli let out a loud, laughing squeal. "Don't eat me, papa! I just got new boots!" She pressed her little hands against his shoulders, pushing back and away from him to avoid his 'bites' until she could no longer avoid them. Each little kiss was met with a fussy sort of giggle, one born from an active child who didn't want to be restrained.

"Snappers don't live on Yael, papa. Just Hunapo." Didn't he know that? Instead of returning his kisses she leaned forward to blow a quick raspberry against his cheek. Silly papa! Maybe he was forgetting things like grandpa? She grinned at the thought and pushed a mop of curly hair away from her face. Little Xenia turned to give Hunapo a smile, though she was...never really sure if the snapper enjoyed her 'love' or not. Ortraka always reacted more favorably; he would at least come to her when she called, and seemed to genuinely like trailing after his sisters.

"Nope! Let's get going!"

Chuckling, Kieran rubbed his cheek and just shook his head at his daughter. Both of his girls were so mischievous but he was happier to see that. If anything a stiff daughter would be something he would have no idea what to do with! The Yaeli shifted in his stance before gathering his satchel and making certain it was snug against his back, "Well you never know when someone may accidentally bring one over, Xenia." He replied with a firm nod, "Or maybe one day I'll get to show you Matori. They live all over the beaches there."

As she agreed that she was ready Kieran led the way, his daughter next to him, and an indigo snapper trailing behind them. Where they were going it was always helpful to have Hunapo near, just in case of emergencies with the renegade women who lived in seclusion or of any dangerous beasts. Walking towards the back of the house Kieran led the way towards the path that twisted through a forest that stretched for miles behind their home. It was part of the reason that his family had settled here as the forest gave plenty of privacy while allowing Kieran to only be about half a day's walk from the city. But once they arrived at a crossroad Kieran motioned with his head and instead of taking the familiar path on the left they ventured right towards where the forest thinned out and the way began to get a bit rockier as flat lands rose into hills.

"If mama will let you," She grumbled. Xenia loved listening to her papa's stories, and every once in a while, sometimes her mama would share one too. However, hers always came with warnings; don't do this, don't go there, don't touch that....."I wanna see it, just once. Then I'll be okay." That much couldn't hurt, right? She would just....make it a really long trip, and see a whole bunch of stuff. As long as she came back home with her glow then mama wouldn't be upset.

When the path diverged away from the norm, Xenia furrowed her brows. "Where are we goin', papa?" She'd never seen this area before, but he must have. Papa knew everything. The little one plodded along beside him, straining her head at times to get a better look. Only when her shawl started to fall from her shoulders did she stop, and only to straighten it.

Kieran smiled warmly towards his youngest daughter, "I'm sure one day we'll get to go and we'll explore everything from beasts to sweets." That would definitely be one family vacation, now wouldn't it? He did wonder if Tai would be willing to venture across the ocean again to go visit the foreign shores. Surely her experiences overseas hadn't been so terrible.

"It's a secret." Teased Kieran lightly as he walked towards the last of the trees, "See above here are cliffs and we'll have to be super careful going upwards, your boots should be good for that, but when we get towards the middle we'll see our entrance then." He smiled towards Xenia playfully, "You think you can hike it? If you get too tired I'm sure Hunapo or I can carry you."

Xenia pushed out her lower lip in a pout that could rival the ages. She hated secrets; she wanted to know now.Surprises were only good when she didn't know when they were coming, but having to wait was awful!

"Oh," The little fluff of a yaeli looked up...and up and up, a pit of nope curling up in her gut. She thought that spending the day with her father was going to be fun; but this looked like a whole lot of work. Still, if she gave up now he might take away her boots, so....

"It's okay, I can do it," Xenia groused. He was happy about it, but papa was usually always happy, so Xenia just thought he was little weird like mama. Cept instead of being scared of everything he did all the stupid stuff.

"Alright, but if you change your mind let me know." With that stated Kieran started to lead the way, his steps slow and careful as he considered his daughter who was trailing behind him. While it looked a bit high up the actual path was fairly simple, worn down from years of travelers beating down weeds with herds of wild animals as well having carved the path as their own, and Kieran was confident that they could make it with ease.

Along the way Kieran would stop to point out a certain species of flower or herb to his daughter, plucking some so that he could offer them to her for her hair or to just hold onto as they walked, and by the time Xenia would have a small bouquet of white, indigo, silver, and flowers of the palest blue they had arrived at his destination point. Here the path widened so that one could stare over the cliffs and look into the valleys below and there was a fallen tree, its branches mostly gone with only the log remaining, and a few smoothed rocks to perch upon. "If you need I brought snacks." Kieran stated simply as he placed his satchel on one of the larger rocks, "We can have some of that before we go there..." Ever so slowly for dramatics the Yaeli turned and pointed a finger towards what looked like a large hole looming up from the hillside.
