Lace had run all the way home after the talk with Theodore, and the fight with Silk about what was going on and the kitten immediately darted past the man into his room and her space.
From there, Jericho would hear his small roommate digging around before he'd see her dragging a small wrapped bag with all her hidden goods and some sweets in the bag. She dragged it slowly over to the window of his room, intent on taking it...and all her things away with her.
She wasn't good enough to bond with him, or any senshi, so she must be a failed cat. And she didn't have a team for him, and she wasn't good like Silk so...so it was best she left!
She didn't want to trouble the captain anymore.

When Lace had first ran in, Jericho had looked up from his phone as he lingered in the hall, having just exited his room for the moment. At first, there was no concern--Lace racing in and out on her own was typical, after all, and the cat was free to come and go as she wished.
But wasn't so typical was how he began to hear her shuffling about a bit more than usual in the closet, and he leaned through the doorway of his room to peer silently at the scene. Somehow, he had the feeling the kitten wasn't doing some very early Spring cleaning...
His brows furrowed as he watched Lace emerge, dragging a bag along with her towards the window. "...Lace, what are you doing?" His voice was neutral, curious more than anything. Was she trying to bring people some gifts? If anything, he was liable to offer to help her carry the bag, though she did look rather silly at the moment.

Lace didn't know how to respond to the young man, who was her favorite human on this whole planet and would be the best thing to ever happen to her when she had been awakened and corrupted as a guardian cat!
A small cat sniffle escaped and she dropped the back just outside of the window, rubbing at her eyes with her paws as tears started to leak.
"I...I have to...I have to go away now." She meowed weakly, "b...Because I can't...Because I can't be your guardian cat anymore!" She sniffled again.
"So...so I have to go now...You...You've been really great to me!" The kitten picked her little bag again and started to push at the window to open it.

What.
The ******** Jericho first heard the small sniffle, he straightened up a bit, frowning as he took a step into the room. Lace crying was definitely not a normal thing--or at least not something he considered normal and something to shrug at--and her words only had him taking slow steps further in. "There hasn't been any orders that I've received saying as much," he stated calmly as she declared that she could no longer be his guardian cat.
True, he wasn't a senshi, but he hardly considered that reason for him to not feel protective over the guardian. Hell, at this point? He very much considered her to be his guardian.
So what the hell was she talking about?
As Lace began to push at the window, Jericho swiftly closed the distance, placing one hand at the window to keep her from opening it further, and the other moving to scoop up the kitten. "Hold the ******** up."

Lace blinked even as Jericho closed the window before she could escape and then looked up at him. As he scooped her up though, she went lax in his hand and tired to hide her face in her collar fluff so he didn't see all the tears. Small kitten sobs escaped from her and she wanted really bad to be hugged by Jericho but she also need him to see.
"I..I was told...I was told that I couldn't bond with you!" The kitten wailed a little, "Because...Because you are not a senshi...but I can't bond with Dia! So....so I am a failure cat! I am not a good guardian cat!" She wailed more, and then started to wriggle in his arms.
"So...so it's better if you got a better cat! One...One who can bond to you! or...bond...bond with a senshi for you!" Cause she couldn't do that. she couldn't even bond to both at the same time! Theodore said Jericho wasn't hers to bond with so....so that was a big deal!
"So I...I was going to go! I'll...I'll do my best on my own okay?"

His scowl deepened as she continued to sniffle and sob, moving to sit down on the side of his bed. His arm repositioned to cradle her against the gray tee over his chest, one forearm beneath her while the other wrapped somewhat around her, fingers rubbing gently at her head. Couldn't bond..? Well. He knew that. For the exact reason she mentioned. Though he wasn't sure who Dia was, his frustration quickly mounted against whoever had done such a s**t job of explaining things to Lace.
"Guardian cats can't bond to Negaverse agents, no matter who they are," he told her flatly, quickly trying to snip away her claims of some other cat being better than her. "Lace... you're getting yourself upset and worked up over the idea that you're a failure as a guardian, is that it?" He gave a snort, shaking his head a bit at the concept. "You're young, but you're far from being a failure."
She got him to warm up to her, didn't she? Miracle worker there.
"And why do you think no sort of bond exists already?" Again moving the small cat, he lifted her to bring her to his eye level, trying to get her to look at him. "A bond is an attachment, and means the person the attachment is with is important to the other person. You are important to me. I would be very sad if you were no longer here. Am I not important to you? If not, then that is your choice." He had to force himself to keep a neutral face as he said this, but he did. Though he wouldn't likely sit back and do nothing if the kitten tried to leave--he'd already stepped in hadn't he?--he at least could say he would respect her right to choose.

Lace rubbed at her face and gently pushed away at Jericho's hands because she didn't want him to give her anymore love when she was such a fail cat anyways! He shouldn't dirtied himself with her! She should've just stayed a stray like Silk and just...yeah.
At first she wasn't listening but then her eyes widened and she was looking at Jericho. "You...you can't?" She blinked owlishly, the sobs no longer coming, "I...I thought I am? C...Cause I can't...Cause I can't bond to you? or to other....senshi?" Her face furrowed with confusion, "Theodore...That's Dia's new guardian cat, he said that I couldn't bond with anyone?"
She sniffled again and rubbed at her face to dry her tears. As he moved her to make eye contact, she looked into his very honest face and when he asked her, got an immediate response.
"NO!!!!" She meowed loudly, "You are my most important human! You are mine!" It was the first time the kitten had been so clear in something she wanted, it was almost easy to tell she was a twin of Silk right there. "I don't...I don't wanna leave you ever!" She pawed at the air, making motions to give him a hug. "So...so I am not a failure cat and...and I can still stay your guardian?" She wibbled at him.
