"It's not the same as exercise sets, is it?" Rodney asked, on the training fields again, "Where you need to rest between?"
He felt like Rep could keep going on forever, there seemed to be no end to his fighting energy.
For Rodney, at least, there was a separate determination. To be able to keep Malkam, and Mikael, and even Lawrence safe.
"I've been able to use Seven's energy, before. I think it's more of a helping magic."

“You don’t need rest in between.” Rep said. “Not with weapons, not with shields. Only time you really need to rest is when you get your shield broken and your weapon needs to knit you up to keep you alive.” He smirked. “Tracey’s saved me losing a few important bits, like my eye and that sort of thing.” And he gestured at his scarred eye demonstratively. It didn’t take too much demonstrating though as Rep as usual wasn’t wearing a shirt and his whole body was a mishmash of scars.
“You just need to keep going, and have something you want to do it for.”

"I do have something I want to do it for," Rodney said, moving forward to muster up the courage and get in the first strike this time.
He still had an inclination to be close to Rep, as if it was somehow a comfort.
"Doing this, getting better...Seven will change, won't they?"

Rep took a step back at the hit, giving Rodney a smirk. The guy had some fight in him and that was a good thing really. It meant there was hope for him, even in the face of all the soft speech and religion, that maybe he could fight for the s**t that mattered and not run away when push came to shove.
"Maybe." he said. "They might grow, they might change. The stronger you get the closer they get to you. It differs from weapon to weapon and no two are ever alike really. For Tracey and me it was like, he got bigger, I don't know why, he just did, and we well.. we didn't fight less but we understood each other more."
He shrugged. "The more you fight the more the bond develops."
"Again." he said.

"I mostly just focus on something personal I don't like about my opponent." he said.
