[1v1] Rematch (Seren v Al)

The fresh crisp fall air filled his lungs as he drew a deep energizing breath.

He was swinging his staff against a dummy repeatedly, trying to practice his aim on all of the vulnerable areas.

This time he was the one with his back to the fields.

Seren walked out to the sparring field, stretching as she went, and hoping to find someone out there to work with. It had an interesting day, and she was considering how best to get used to the changes, now that her bond with Di had, it seemed, gotten better. She had, on Di's advice, summoned her yesterday and been amazed to realize that the sword was... taller then she was now. She was utterly grateful this had not happened during the battle on her most recent mission, because lord have mercy, the narrow space had been hard enough when Di was shorter then Seren.

She got onto the field, and looked around, considering the various dummies, and then saw a familiar enough looking head. She squinted at it, trying to be sure she was recognizing the right person, then nodded. That was definitely that Al fellow. She moved towards him, calling out "Hey, Al. Want to give me another go?" She was summoning Diwata to her hands as she spoke, and when she got close, she shouldered her sword, though she found herself REALLY glad for the workouts she did with Rhys, and the daily runs with Di in her hand. If Di had been heavy BEFORE, good lords and great ladies, she was a dead weight now. She reminded herself to talk to Rhys about upping work on her upper arm strength soon, so that she did not end up straining herself, or being unable to hand Di in a REAL battle.

Al spun around and braced himself at the challenge before grinning toothily at the weapon. Familiar, yet clearly different.

"Oh, it's gotten bigger," was all he said at first.

Then, unable to help himself, he added, "That's what she said."

Which had been his apparent battle cry as he charged right into the offered fight.

His first strike had been a glancing blow, not very strong but still enough to steal enough fear to feed Nuru, whose runes flickered to life.

"Think you can keep up this time?" He teased.

She couldn't help laughing at his 'That's what she said,' but she didn't let it distract her from their battle, either. She watched him come in, and gave a slow grin, letting the glancing blow hit.

"Oh I definitely think I can keep up, Al..." She said, as she then ducked under his weapon, to get a swing in, the sword coming in at his side, fast and hard.

It was fast and hard alright (that is also what she said), and knocked the wind out of Al.
He staggered back then readjusted himself and went back into a more defensive fighting stance.

"Okay, so you got a little stronger."

She arched a brow, and came in with a follow up hit, curving the swing up and over to go for his other side. "A LITTLE, hmmm?" She looked amused, her eyes glittering some at this.

She was also amused that he hadn't yet gotten in a return swing. This looked to be a much more balanced battle this time, in her eyes.

She might have spoken too soon as this time as she went in for a hit, she found the staff slammed square into her shield with a sudden dull thunk.

"Yes, only a little," he quipped.

She winced, a little, but grinned and curved her sword up, and around, slamming it into Al's shield in turn, letting the weight of the blade do most of the work.

"Well, we'll see how it goes when all of this is over, won't we?"

He was hit again and again but was now getting hits in right back. He aimed with more and more care until he landed a blow he finally found sufficient. The weapon growling hungrily in his thoughts as the violet runes lit up across its surface.

Nuru was excited now and felt like he was about to burst.

Seren made a soft 'oof' noise at the hit, but did not let it phase her. Instead, she darted back for a moment, and shifted her grip, then charged forwards, swinging Diwata hard in her hand, aiming as best as she could for Al's legs, trying to see if she could knock him off his feet.

She may have successfully knocked him off his feet, but as he scrambled to get back up - his weapon began to spark and then burst into flames, lashing out with bright hot violet light as flames enveloped the area.

The fire died back almost as quickly as it appeared and he was standing again. "Wont get rid of me that easily."

Seren took the hit, but unlike last time, she did not go flying. She barely stayed up, and she swore at how hard it hit.

In response, she got Diwata into position and began to use her own charge. The runes on the blade lit up, glowing like stars, and she swung the sword, hard.

And then missed just as hard, sending a deep gouge into the dirt in front of her. She swore even more.

While she seemed to be recovering from an attack that went wide, Al ran in again and swung his staff, hard, against her shoulder region.

"Don't stop now," Nuru's still hungry he mentally added.

Her brows rose at his words, and his next attack, another soft whoosh escaping her. She pulled Di up and out of the dirt, and managed another swing, though it barely scraped, as she was thrown off balance from having Di in the dirt to begin with.
