Seren stared at the dish pile that was left behind by today's lunchtime cooking crew, and found herself softly swearing under her breath. She might not be the happiest person alive about being made to do a lot of cooking duty, good at it though she might be, but it was WAY less appalling then being stuck on post cooking clean up. She stared a little longer, then looked around, hoping without much actual hope that someone else would be joining her soon to help get this horrendous pile under control. When she did not see anyone, her shoulders drooped, and she went over to the big sink, and started the hot water.

Once the sink was three fourths full, she put the pots and pans with the worst crusting in it to soak, and added some dish soap in to the mix. She then turned to the smaller, though still decent sized, sink and began to scrub out the rest of the pots that were nearby. She sighed, and muttered wistfully about how she wished someone else was here, even if just to talk to... Because she hated being in here alone. Being alone in places that were not her own personal spaces, like her dorm, sometimes felt weird and creepy. Almost like she expected something horrible to happen while she was alone, or something.

To combat this issue, she started softly singing music that had been familiar to her before she had been recruited, things like Counting Stars and I Love It, in a voice that was definitely untrained, but not horrible.

Seren looked up, startled, when she heard a voice she couldn't automatically place, and she also immediately stopped singing, because it was one thing to do that when she was alone in the kitchen (Why the ******** was she the only one on dish duty today? This was ******** insane!) and another when some one could hear her. She turned, still washing, to see who it was who was speaking to her.

She blinked, and processed the face mask, the pink hair, and the outfit, then she grinned at the other woman. "Long time, no see. I don't think I've bumped into you since Dares night." She paused, trying to remember the other woman's name, her blue eyes narrowed for a moment.

"... Soooo... Sonja, right?" She finally said. "You were the one who Kai did a tat sketch up for, I believe... And the reason I found out he does tats, too, thank goodness." She gave the other woman a bright grin. "As for the free show, well, sorry hun, show's over as long as I got company to talk to. Dishes are crap enough without company."

"That's 'bout what I figured, myself. You're a distinctive lady, Miss Sonja." She gave her a friendly sort of grin, as she put the pot she had just finished scrubbing onto the drying rack. "Sorry it took me a moment there, on your name... I've met so many people, it sometimes takes me a minute to remember names of people I've only met once or twice, no matter how lovely, or distinctive." The tone she spoke in was friendly-complimentary, not flirty.

"You should talk to him, definitely! Once his shop is set up, I am getting a back piece done, and I can't wait. His rates are more'n fair, if you ask me, from the quote I got." She wasn't gonna talk about it too much, price wise. "But yeah, I saw what he sketched for you, and was impressed. 'S why I want him to do my piece, rather then finding someone off island to visit on leave days."

Seren laughed and shrugged. "Sorry, my voice is one thing I'm a tad self conscious about, sugar. I have only a few, and that's one. I'm no grand voice, after all."

The offer, however, had Seren beaming brightly at Sonja. "Darlin', I would never turn an offer like that down. I don't know why they didn't send a second washer, they usually do."

"Just telling it like it is." She laughed at the hip bump, and shrugged. "I can always appreciate a lovely lady or gent when I see them, and like them to know they're appreciated, too."

"Ah? Oh! I'm Seren, Seren Yong, Sun division." She smiled a little and said "No worries, it was a rather busy night."

"He lives in Towns, with my friend Joy. They have one of the houses down there, and are gonna convert a room into his studio. Dunno when they'll get that done, though." She said, with a soft sigh.

"Well, I'll try not to, but some habits dies hard." Was all she could say on the issue of selling one's self short, a little awkwardly.

"I do appreciate it, Sonja. Help is always greatly appreciated, especially when given a ridiculous task. I was beginning to think I'd not get home to my dorm or boyfriend until after dinner at this point, and that'd have me in a terrible mood."

"But of course, Miss Sonja." She gave the pink haired girl a warm smile, and moved to one of the pots she'd had soaking in hot water, and began the effort to get the crusty crap out of it. She was glad it had loosened some, but it was still not fun. "Don't know who was on cooking shift today, but they clearly were not paying enough attention to the pots they were workin' with..." She muttered.

"Well, if you're bored, y'can always contact me, to hang out, or spar, or somethin'. Feel free to text me, if I'm not on duty or busy with Rhys, I'm happy to spend time in the company of such a lovely person."

"You done a lot of pot scrubbin' before you got here?" Seren asked, curiously. "You know what you're doin', for certain sure."
