Hyperborea had spent most of her night dusting whatever youma she came across. A pretty normal night all things considered. She thought. That made her laugh to herself, she wasn't sure if it was funny or sad that turning viscous monsters to dust had become a normal evening activity for her. Either way though the night was pretty uneventful so far.
She had not felt any officer auras in her area, however a new aura did appear that caught her attention. A knight, a mars knight, but not one she had meet before. She smiled to herself, she loved meeting new knights.
She summoned Cerynitis to her side and climbed onto the doe's back, she urged her summons forward towards the source of the aura.
She came upon the red and gold knight as she slide off of Cerynitis and dispelled her. "Salut!"She said as she approach. Once she got closer however she realized that she did in fact know this woman, though not as she was now. Hyperborea knew her as a general, a half youma general. From a distance she hadn't recognized the woman without her scales, horns, and tail but up close there was no mistake, this was the woman who had once tried to rip out the knight's soul. She wasn't sure what to day, did this woman still remember her, what could have possibly pushed such a die hard support of Metalia to purify? Should she still be angry that the woman had tried to kill her on multiple occasions or should she put all of that in the past and be happy that the woman had found the strength to come to the light.? All of these questions swirled around the young knight's head.

Destiny City, ironic name, was a place of conflicting impressions, particularly at night. With the bustle of the day dampened down by the dark, it was peaceful, to an extent and in parts. In other parts, dingy and dirty streets came alive with color and light and laughing people as clubs and bars filled with patrons looking for a good time. The darkness and orange cast of the street lights gave a sort of anonymity the harsh daylight cut through, but with the safety of that blurring of details came danger as things unsavory grew bold enough to venture out looking for prey.
A city that was a jungle of unfamiliar people and places, dared only out of necessity, became a place of simplicity and comforting ease once darkness fell and the power settled about her. In the darkness, she knew who she was and what she was meant to do, an assurance she had yet to find in her daylight life.
Metal ground against metal as Tanais flexed her fingers, gripping them into fists before she mashed the knuckles together with a clang. There was no risk of scratches of course, not with this magical vestment, and the sound was satisfying. Tanais was who she had been when she awakened and at times, felt more real and more present than this... Aris Roth she was when the power was dismissed. A name she had had to choose, because she'd had none she could remember and the name Gehenna remembered could not be used. 'For safety's sake'.
Hunting the monsters that roamed the night was the easiest of tasks to start with, and her first tentative forays had been those, to accustom herself to working out in the city rather than training with Gehenna in the safety of his home. She'd managed two so far, which left her well satisfied and, frankly, a bit elated. This felt right, like so little did these days. Certain. Proper. She didn't have to puzzle her way through it, and that was a comfort.
A warmth, felt in her mind rather than on her skin, seemed to grow stronger, finally catching her attention enough to make her pause. Gravel crunched under her feet as she turned from her view of the street towards the park behind her and Tanais watched with surprise as a young woman riding a... deer? Came to land not far away. She shone, white and gold, and the knight's supicions she was another were firmed when the creature she rode disappeared. Summons? The knight on Mars had spoken about them, though she'd not seen one up close. This... girl, because she was indeed a girl and not a grown woman, seemed to echo the look of her own uniform, but the colors were off... more like what that... Hverlgamar? had worn. A dark brown lifted as she was greeted, and since it seemed at least friendly, she let her guard relax marginally and settled her fists on her hips as she watched her approach.
"Evening, Stranger. Can I help you with something?" Tanais said, pondering the very small list of things anyone could want from her and unable to pin any of them down for sure.

The young knight of the cosmos was a little surprised that the woman had no memory of her what so ever but she did know purification and corruption could mess with memories. She decided if the woman couldn't remember her than it was best to let bygones be bygones.
"Greetings, My name is Hyperborea of the Cosmos." She introduced herself with a friendly smile and a offered hand.
"I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" She questioned, although she was of course aware that the woman was purified but she wasn't sure of how long ago it happened.
"Has anyone shown you the basics of knighthood?" She asked wondering if the woman had been told about her new powers.

Red eyes gazed down on the petite figure and the hand offered her way. There was an instinct to take it, returning the open greeting, but the questions that dropped so casually from the young girl's lips had a bit of a... complicated effect.
Both brows rose this time and Tanais found herself hovering somewhere between amusement and irritation, wondering just what it was about her face that screamed I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING.
"I'm sorry, but what exactly gives you the impression I need someone to show me the basics?" She said, her head tilting as she cocked a hip and ignored the offered hand. "Last I checked, you teach basics to Pages and we're both the same level... so really, if anyone should be looking to teach anyone anything, shouldn't it be me? You don't exactly look old enough to even be a knight."
Did this girl go around saying this to all the knights she didn't know, or was Tanais just special? It made her uneasy, she realized, because she was starting to suspect there was more behind it than that, and the behind stuff was not exactly... fun to deal with.

"Ah stupid thing to say I guess." She said rubbing the back of her head. She figured since she had already messed up might as well be honest about.
"Well to be completely honest we have meet before but you had a different name then. You probably don't remember me but I knew you as a general." She said softly making sure no one could overhear them. "So I know you purified at some point, I'm not judging or anything I think it takes alot of strength to purify whatever your reasons were."
"I was just worried you might not have been told about your new powers. I'm sorry if I overstepped my boundaries I didn't mean any disrespect." She explained.
"However I have been a knight for more than two years and I am more than capable, my age is not a factor in my ability." She defended herself.

The amusement she'd been feeling dropped away and Tanais's expression chilled.
So, there you have it. She'd know her, the old her. The one who'd done things she couldn't remember but were heinous enough Gehenna has hesitated to tell her about them. He'd still done it, but she suspected there was more than he knew about and it hung over her like a specter... never knowing when she would run into that one person who'd had the worst of it wanted to take it out on her.
"Ah... I see." She said as she studied the young woman before her, reading the set of her shoulders and the movements of her face for clues to how this one felt. She shrugged after a moment, brushing away the suggestion she was strong for what she had done.
"I don't remember why I purified and from what I've been told, strength had nothing to do with it. Desperation is a better word for it."
The assurance she was capable managed to bring a hint of a smile to the older woman and she waved that away with one leather wrapped hand.
"I'm sure you're fine. You made it this far, right? You certainly don't have to prove anything to me. I had another knight, Gehenna, there when I... switched sides, and he's been filling me in on things. And I went to that meeting or whatever it was, on Mars? The one run by that sparkly woman with the pale hair. So I think I've got everything pretty well under my belt now."

"Sometimes desperation brings out a strength people never knew they had." She argued, she didn't really care what the reason was it took a certain amount bravery to start your life over and try to move on from a life of harming others. To try to do better.
"Well I'm glad that he was there for you." It was good to hear someone was filling her in.
"That's Hvergelmir, she's a cosmos knight like me, she's a really good person to go to if you just need someone to talk to." She clarified.
"So have you been to your wonder yet? If you haven't you really should there's an important treasure up there for you." She suggested motioning to her signet ring.
"Do you like it? Being a knight I mean? You don't regret it do you?" She asked a little nervous not wanting to step on toes but also curious.

"Hvergelmir, yeah, that was the unpronounceable name she gave." She said, shifting in her stance till one hip stuck out, casual and relaxed. Or trying to be. At least things weren't going pear shaped. The knight still felt faintly apprehensive, but she firmly pushed it away. She was a stronger person than that. She would not let formless worries stop her from anything.
"I haven't been yet. I heard about the rings and its on my to-do list. I just need to make some time." The questions felt very much like small talk, which felt rather dumb. The two of them standing here, radiating power and wrapped in the armor of their respective worlds, and they were making small talk, like coworkers meeting unexpectedly outside of work.
"I don't dislike it, I guess. But I've always been a knight, so I don't remember ever not being one to judge if I like it better this way. Its just a fact of life, you know? Aris, secretly Tanais of Mars. There are parts of it I like, certainly... the strength and speed, the cool outfit. Parts I don't... knowing there are people out there preying on the weak and helpless." She clenched a fist, feeling the leather strain against her grip. "I was born with a duty and I'm okay with that."

Hyperborea laughed. "You'll come across worse names than her trust me." She said with a chuckle. It was a curse of order to have horrifically difficult to pronounce names.
Hyperborea frowned. "This is not something you can put off." She lightly chastised. "These rings are the lifeline of knights, its how we communicate, request assistance, and call upon our secondary magic." She briskly explained, she didn't feel like she needed to go into detail since the knight of mars had already had it explained but she wanted to reemphasize the point.
"Besides you should just visit your wonder just to see it, its one of our perks after all, a place in the universe that exists specifically for you." She was passionate about her wonder and she could definitely feel a special connection to it, admittedly that could be her transcendence.
"It's hard to want to save everyone to know that there are monsters lurking in the dark not going after the strong like you or me but going after the weak the pages, basic senshi, and worst of all the civilians." she said understanding very well the woman's frustrations, they were frustrations she herself often wrestled with. "But all we can do is keep fighting one battle at a time, fight until there is no one left to prey on the helpless."

The mars knight watched her with a slow lifting eyebrow as the cosmos knight lectured her about wonders and rings. As though she were a teenager avoiding responsibilities, and not a grown woman who had simply not had the time. It felt more than a little ridiculous, considering the girl didn't look old enough to drive a car and, according to Ghen, Aris had been old enough to drink for nearly a decade.
"I'll go when I'm ready." She said firmly, with just a hint of 'back off' in her tone. Not much, but it was there. No twig of a girl was going to boss her around, more knight experience or not. Funny glow marks or not. "It'll still be there whenever I arrive."
The conversation was fast growing tired. She wasn't learning anything new, and she wasn't inclined for more lectures about what she did know. There were things they could be doing, she thought, that involved actually doing things rather than talking about them. Talking wasn't getting them anywhere, in the grand scheme of things.
"If that's all you needed, I'm going to get moving. I have stuff to do tonight, and a lot of ground to cover." It was polite, or as near as she could make it while still being firm about it.

Hyperborea sighed and held up her hand defeated. "Fair enough it is your choice." She didn't want to offend the new knight even if this was something import besides it was like the old saying yo could lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. If Tanais didn't want to go to her wonder yet that was her business.
Hyperborea nodded and summoned Cerynitis hopping onto her back. "Stay safe out there. Oh and if you ever need a sparing partner feel free to give me shout, you do still owe me a rematch from the last time we fought." She said with a slight chuckle as she urged the doe forward into the night.
