Al paced the track that ran alongside the training fields anxiously. He'd gotten a taste of battle and both he and his weapon hungered for more. After a few laps, he checked his phone again before texting another message. Then another. Al to Nash I'm about to declare myself winner by default.

"Don't be a d**k," was Nash's verbal reply as he stepped onto the field, giving Al a sidelong glance. He wasn't unopposed to a fight - in fact, Nash enjoyed the thrill of it just as much as the next person - but he couldn't help the snarky, deliberate need to squabble all the time.
It was what made him so charming, after all.
"I'm pretty sure I'm the one that's gonna win," he said, grinning sharply, arms folded across his chest. He extended one, Acheri appearing in a gust of green and black, the whip slithering across the grass.

"But everyone loves the D," Al retorted as he put his phone away. A smirk slowly spreading across his lips as he raised his fist, the bracelet around his wrist glowing, shifting, and branching out. He grabbed the staff from the air and pointed it at Nash. "En Garde!"

"No, people are dicks," Nash informed Al, giving the spear only a cursory glance before he moved into position. "And I mean, I like the D as much as the next guy, but I'm pretty sure not everyone does. Which is fine, I don't want them, either."
Al received a charming, sweet smile.
"Now I get to soundly kick your a**."

Nash let out a yelp as the staff came cracking down on his upper arm. He took several hopping step backwards, then wound the whip towards himself again before letting it coil outwards with a snap, trying to get somewhere in the vicinity of Al's ankles. If he could trip him up a little, he'd get a small advantage.
He grinned widely.
"Amen, dude, amen."

It didn't quite work out the way Nash had planned. Yes, the weapon caught Al. Yes, it hurt like a sonnova. But no, he did not trip and instead he pulled his foot back and brought his staff up over his head to attempt to crack it right over the top of Nash's head. HP - 43 / 50

Nash dragged himself up again, feeling the sting of the weapon. He'd managed to sidestep the brunt of it so that it hadn't actually hit his head, but it had still come down hard on his shoulder, which was now throbbing painfully. Nash snatched at his whip again and snapped it towards Al. "What's up with you today? You don't seem very talky." HP: 27 / 40 DMG: 0 Charge: 2 / 3

Al laughed, "Sorry. I sorta get in 'the zone'." And yes he paused to finger quote that properly. "Fighting for me is sorta. It seems to come natural even though my parents were like the most non fighting types I've ever known." He went and swung wide and scoffed. "Are you trying to win by distraction?" HP - 43 / 50

Nash slid sideways, missing Al's next shot - thankfully.
"Nah. Just wondering. You seem a little weird, but it could just be me."
The whip went smashing towards Al's legs again, harder this time.

"Your face is weird," Al teased just before the whip caught his leg - but he was determined to take Nash down with him. He lashed out with his staff on his way down to the ground. He landed with a loud "oof" shortly after. HP - 35 / 50

Nash was damn satisfied his attack had hit, but in spite of Al's attempts, he didn't actually go down with him. The smack to his ankle had him staggering and almost falling, Nash letting out a startled yelp, but he managed to keep from toppling too far over.
"Mature."

"More mature than you," Al stuck his tongue out with a loud "nye" for good measure. He was still on the ground and hadn't bothered even trying to get up before turning Nuru on Nash and - well, blasting him right in the shield with bright violet fire. HP - 32 / 50 DMG - 26 (because Nash was right, Al IS a d**k)
