The Mwezi'Johari visit the Tianxia West House

User Image

Open: Now!
Close: December 18, 2017

The Mwezi'Johari have successfully gained entrance to the West House of the Tianxia. Lady Ria (Zhong Zhao) and Lord Alizeti (Zhong Wailai, former Mwezi) have welcomed them into their House and by all accounts seem ready to put the past behind them and reestablish the alliance between their two prides.

While Kimondo deals with the politics, the rest of the pride has been advised to get to know their hosts and take advantage of the opportunity to learn about their friends' culture.

So, what is going on?

When King Shangyue took over the pride, he claimed to have murdered his parents. His father, Fuu, was a former Duke in the Tianxia West House. When Princess Selene was younger, their marriage was arranged between allies as Ria and Alizeti's marriage had once been arranged. While Shangyue himself never said or did anything regarding the Tianxia after he took over, many understood that Fuu's death marked the end of their alliance. Shangyue sharing their blood didn't matter with the former Duke dead.

Kimondo's stated goal in bringing herself and some of her pride to the West House is to apologize for the fate of their Duke, knowing very well the story of what happened would have reached them already. The severity of this is why the Queen herself has come to pay her respects and offer condolences.

A secondary goal is, of course, to reestablish a friendly connection with their allies!

To the Mwezi'Johari: The West House is an old ally, though few are familiar with them outside of knowing a male once went there and Lord Fuu came from there. Little of their culture ever really made it into the Mwezi'Johari and curiosity has been encouraged for the whole long trip here! Get to know your friends and their ways, enjoy yourselves!

To the West House: The House has long been expecting a visit from the Mwezi'Johari but they might be surprised to find it is a peaceful visit led by a new Queen rather than a pompous or hostile visit from the Usurper Shangyue. With Duke Fuu (Zhong Chao) and Duchess Selene (Zhong Tiao) living safely amongst them, they are all familiar with the story of what happened but they also know the truth of Fuu & Selene's survival.

Everybody in the West House has been warned: You don't need to lie but do not offer information about Fuu & Selene's presence in the West House. If they need to be mentioned at all while the Mwezi'Johari are here, they should be referred to by their Chinese names: Chao and Tiao. To make it easier, Chao & Tiao have left the West House for the duration of the visit.

Other: The rest of the Tianxia is aware of the visitors in the West House - how could they not be? Depending on the route taken in approaching the West House, the relatively large group would have been seen by at least one neighbouring House and, of course, the Central House always knows what is going on.

Current Situation

Ahead of the arrival of the bulk of the Mwezi group, Kimondo sent ahead Batu (nessiaing) and Matakwa (Talencia) to secure an invitation before they crossed any borders unwelcome. Matakwa stayed behind while Batu returned to the traveling Mwezi with a handful of guards (and one particularly grumpy Mwezi-blooded Duke (Zhong Yong, son of Alizeti & Ria, played by Ecavi)) to lead everybody safely into the West House.

Now, after a weeks-long journey, the Mwezi'Johari finally get to relax! Everybody who came along was a volunteer so they are expected to be friendly, polite and interested in the lions (and non-lions!) they're meeting. For the Tianxia, this is an opportunity to learn more about the lions that raised Lord Alizeti (and allowed Duke Chao and Duchess Tiao to be chased out) .. and, of course, this is an opportunity for the artists of the West House to show off for a new audience and gain insight for new material!

A few members from other Houses in the Tianxia may be present, word spread ahead of the arrival of the Mwezi'Johari after all!

This ORP is a 'meet & greet' sort of thing for two very different prides. The Mwezi'Johari will be staying here for a few OOC months after this ORP, so get comfortable!

But don't forget.. the Mwezi'Johari have left behind a pride without a Queen.

This cub is the eldest daughter of former-slave Yksivarinen (mouselet) and his wife, high class huntress Neema (Ecavi). She and her sisters, Aylin (Ecavi) & Annunziu (mouselet), were born into the Low Class- this means they will be slaves for their entire lives. While Yksivarinen is appropriately disappointed on his daughters' behalf, Neema doesn't care in the slightest that they've been overlooked by the Great Lion and doesn't act at all like it should be something to be upset about.

(On the other paw, mama is a bit upset that Aylin and Annunziu are twins..)

She must remain in the Mwezi'Johari at least until she is an adult, but since she is a slave you must discuss any decisions to remove her with Ecavi first. Naturally, we would like to see her stay at home but that is absolutely not a requirement if plotting takes you elsewhere! It is lucky for this cub that Queen Kimondo has taken a relaxed approach to keeping slaves in the pride.

Every post in this ORP will count as a ticket towards this cub.

The journey from the Mwezi'Johari to the West House of the Tianxia had taken weeks. Even though she had been ready for that, she couldn't help but be exhausted by the whole ordeal. Thank the Great Lion she wasn't born a princess or she might not have had her old hunting muscles to fall back on. The hardest part of the journey was the full moon a week after they left, knowing it was the night her princes and princess would finally take their places as slaves. She left to make it easier on them, but it sure felt hard..

Luckily, there was a lot to distract her. She had plans, now that they were here, but she couldn't just wander off to take care of business right away. She had met with Alizeti and Ria already, now her priority was to help her pride get comfortable and the best way to do that was to remain visible. She was sure they all needed a nice break after the trip, and while the Tianxia seemed wary (maybe she was just paranoid??) .. they were all being very friendly.

She kept herself away from the center of the crowd and simply watched over them with a smile.

The brightly colored huntress was overwhelmed now that they had finally, finally made it to the Tianxia. They had the whole, long, boring trip to get excited and she did! But.. now that she was here, she was suddenly petrified. Maybe this wasn't a good idea, somewhere in this crowd of unfamiliar faces was her father and he probably didn't even want to know she existed and here she was, forcing him to notice. And Leonidas! He was an accomplice to the whole terrible idea! Only Kavindu had the brains to stay at home, and she never thought she'd be giving Kavindu's brains any credit.

So while she had once seemed enthusiastic, Althaia was now a nervous ball of golden fur stuck in the center of the chaos, trying to find her way outward-- and hopefully she'd find Leonidas and let him in on the scolding she was now giving herself. Hopefully!

Barasa was not a guard, he was not an artist, he was barely anything in fact.. but he had been spending the last few days since the arrival of the advance greeting from the Mwezi group acting like he was powerful and important. It wasn't a hard persona switch, he had once favoured impersonating his very-important twin brother so he had a lot of practice. Since he wasn't anything else, he had the time to sit and watch and glare at their guests, and he would do it. Because he didn't trust any of the Mwezi'Johari.

He wasn't exactly close to his uncle Chao, and he hadn't care enough to find out if he wasn't also related to Tiao (though looking at this crowd now, there was some obvious relatives that made him pretty sure she wasn't his aunt-cousin) .. but what he internalized of their story hadn't done the Mwezi any favours. That they had fled the House didn't improve his opinion, and that he'd been told to keep his trap shut soured his mood even more.

So the very-Mwezi Duke sat on the edge of the crowd opposite the Queen, glaring.

Zhi was curious about all these new faces. Where had they come from? Why were there here? Were they friendly?

So many things raced through her heads as she watched them all with wide eyes. She was particularly curious about the pale female with silver markings, she was so pretty and her curiosity sort of got the better of her and she cautiously approached the female that seemed to have a lot of others around her. Was she important? Zhi was still young so she really had no idea what was going on outside of her little world. She was certain as she got older she'd understand but for now. She was just a curious cub.

She wasn't sure how close she could get to the adult but she stayed where she was from a close but not so close distance. "Hello!" She called out with a cheerful grin. She wasn't near the large group which was nice for Zhi, because all those faces made her nervous. She seemed nice. She could see someone giving her the stink eye tho from a distance and had seen him around but had never spoken to him. She wasn't even sure she actually KNEW who he was. Since she hadn't met him. Might have heard his name before though.

Ecavi

The green cheetah had heard whispers and rumors and had to come peek at the west house and it's new guests. She wasn't sure how many from her house might make the small trip over here to see them, but she was just curious in general about this foreign pride who had come to their lands. It would seem there was a long standing history somewhere but she didn't trouble herself with such things. She was more curious to know how many hadn't met a cheetah before. She was really just there for that fact, and perhaps to see if there were any attractive males hanging around.

NOT that she was looking, she just liked to have some nice eye candy every now and again.

There were so many from the Mwezi here and she could only imagine how things might go if they suddenly decided to become hostile, which she figured unlikely at any case. She remained quiet and took a seat not too far away. She'd let someone come to her if they wished to talk. She really didn't know where to begin.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Pleco had spent the last few weeks in high spirits. Of course he was always in high spirits it was a part of who he was. He however, had never before left the Mwezi’johari so the mission to the Tianxia was both exciting and a little terrifying. He had taken the trip with his best foot forward though and he was most definitely impressed. The outside world was amazing. His father had told him so but it had been a touch difficult to believe the tales.

He was a hunter, and honestly despite his flashy mane he was a pretty good one, his cousin Gidja had seen to that, it was his job to keep the travelling group fed and he had done his part while taking in the everything else that was around him. Quite frankly he had done nothing but enjoy himself.

Now after their long journey, which he had to admit he was glad to see the end of for the moment, they had arrived at the west house. He really wasn’t sure how they would be greeted, he had of course heard some rumours, but it wasn’t for him to mention, he was here for enjoyment purposes only and so see a portion of the world he honestly didn’t know existed.

He wasn’t really sure who to approach or for that matter if he should drag another of the hunters with him, he’d gotten to know them pretty well over the past few weeks and he felt comfortable around them. Maybe it was time to get out of his comfort zone though, unless, someone else wanted to come with him.. Scanning around he looked for a familiar face to make this most interesting jump with.

Arakdia had taken a rather firm liking to Nkon and had traveled alongside him most of the trip getting to know his past and all that. It would seem he really hadn't had a rough go of things, just bad luck. She doubted if she WAS able to live in a place like the bonelands she never would. Just didn't seem like a good fit for her. "What do you think of this place?" She asked him as she looked around. She had done a great deal of traveling before she came to the Mwezi so this wasn't exactly new to her. But it was to him so she was curious.

Looking over at the silver and blue female he gave a small shrug. "It's a lot to take in really. I'm excited to get to learn more though." He said hoping to at least meet someone new that wasn't from his pride. There was much to see and perhaps learn. While she had taken a great deal of time to know him he hadn't really asked too much of her on their trip over here. "What about you?" He knew she had seen and done a great deal on her travels but he was still curious.

She smiled. "There is knowledge in everything we do so I am always pleased to go somewhere new and different. We never stop learning and life is our mentor." She hadn't meant to sound like a scholar or anything, it was just how it had come out.

Nkon gave a nod of his head. "That's understandable." He was pleased she had latched onto him as a traveling companion for this. He wasn't sure what else he would have done. Probably just stayed quiet and done things here and there for the other members of the pride. It's not like he could do much else anyway.

"Oh look a cheetah!" He exclaimed to her noticing the green female not too far away. He'd never seen one this close before. So the pride allowed other species? This was interesting. Not that he was against it. It definitely wasn't something his old pride would have allowed.

Arkaidia was more curious about the cub that had taken interest in Kimondo. She watched and smiled.

Miyako was more than happy to come along with her Aunt on this journey, not that she had been asked specifically. It would seem a number of her siblings had come along as well so it might as well have been a family outing if she was going to call it anything. Giving a light laugh and a shake of her head she looked around the pride and noticed the cub being a curious little thing. Reminded her of her when she was small and had first met her aunt.

It was hard to believe she was a grown adult and married to a wonderful male now. Looking around she tried to see if she could find him anywhere. He had come along but she had tried to NOT keep herself glued to him the entire time. She wanted them both to get something out of this, not just be wrapped up in one another and not pay attention to little else.

She made herself comfortable not too far away from her Aunt, but a distance enough away they couldn't really talk unless you shouted or got closer and kept an eye out for Belial.

Gwaihir was very pleased about this trip the pride had put together. He had never known a home aside from the Mwezi and he was extremely excited to finally get to see what other places were like. The cheetah was a curious addition, since they only had lions in the Mwezi. She seemed content in what she was doing so it was obvious to him that they had steady places within the ranks.

He had been around long enough to know the story of what had passed between the Tianxia and the Mwezi. While it was a sad tale to tell, things were now looking up for the Mwezi and perhaps things could once again settle between them, new alliances to be forged! So far it would seem it was just mostly their party and a few of the Tianxia's members. He wondered how many might show up. He was curious to meet some new faces.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.If it hadn't been utterly impractical and embarrassing, Nketa would have hidden behind Kimondo. She was still tempted to, even so, given how all the Tianxia were staring at them. Well, not necessarily at her in particular, but at the Mwezi collectively. This was incredibly awkward.

The past weeks had been surprisingly enjoyable. Part of Nketa's difficulty in finding her place within her birth pride had been the sudden mass of people she'd been forced to deal with. Having known less than twenty people for the majority of her life, the lioness hadn't had the understanding or resources to deal with hundreds and had tried to hide away as often as possible.

When Kimondo had extended the invitation to accompany her to the Tianxia, Nketa had accepted warily, more from a desire to stay in the Queen's good graces than any particular interest on her part. Oh, and a chance to get away from the pride full of people. But the journey had been pleasant, offering the lioness a chance to get to know her fellow travelers in a more secluded and less crowded environment. It was still more people than she'd known before, but the experience had helped.

Of course, that didn't mean she was exactly pleased to be here amongst a pride that didn't look especially welcoming...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Yareha stayed near the back of the Mwezi contigent, observing. After his...past...the white lion was decidedly uninterested in causing a scene of any kind. He did not at all want to be the center of attention.

Some days, on the trek, he'd wondered what had possessed him to volunteer for this. He loved Kilua and knew she was happy living in a pride...but he also secretly missed the traveling he'd done as a rogue. That was something that had never occurred to him until he and his love had been settled in the Mwezi'Johari for a while. And since legitimate opportunities to travel would likely be few and far between, he'd jumped on this one with all four paws. Thank the Great Lion Kilua had chosen to come with.

But he also couldn't shake the niggling feeling that these lands looked familiar, as if he'd been here before. Oh, he knew that the two prides had blood ties - one only had to look at their guide to know that - but it still made him uncomfortable.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Barasa didn't look happy, Zhen observed, more concerned for the Duke than any of the strangers. She knew the story of Zhong Chao and Zhong Tiao - how could any adult of the West House not? And so she watched the Mwezi lions with suspicion. They seemed friendly enough, sure, but hadn't Chao said that his son could be so at times?

She wondered how many of the lions who had come were related to those here. There were a number of markings of note, including, she was surprised to see, ones that matched her own.

Zhen had rarely given thought to her absent father, as it was a subject her mother had never dwelt on. Now though, she had to admit some curiosity. Not that she was intrigued enough to ask. For now, she watched, listened to little Kiu Chen be the first to speak, and wondered at how any parent could allow their cub to interact with total strangers.

The Lady of the West House of the Tianxian Empire stood near the queen, her plum eyes narrow as she studied the group of strangers. There was no concern in her face, just a wandering suspicion of exactly who it was that Queen Kimondo brought with her. Words could easily be promised, but she would never forget the threat against her brother's life. A coup such as what took place wouldn't easily be squashed with the death of its leader, and....and she thought too much like her father. With a sigh, Ria willed herself to calm down.

With her mother standing just behind her, Ria was reminding herself that this would be her first real test in being a hostess. She was no longer a young, impulsive, feisty lioness; her children were grown, and her mother even more so grown.

And as hostess...she should probably say something to the awkwardly gathered crowd.

"Welcome to the West House of Tianxia," she announced as clearly as she could, her voice loud. "We cherish the gifts of artistry, of creativity and of family. Please feel relaxed here, and treat this as if you were home. Mingle and share ideas, and please find me or my mother, Mio, if you need any assistance."

Alizeti stood next to his wife, anxiety tugging at his stomach. He had loved his birth pride, and hadn't really wanted to leave it to marry into power. But now....after hearing of the changes at Mwezi'Johari in a most concerning way, he was worried for this pride, and only hoped that the new queen Kimondo would right the ship of the Great Lion.

Baraka had been standing next to his mother, watching the crowd with a bored expression. This was a stupid event, and he had wished that the Queen just came with herself and a guard or two. Why the spectacle? They thought his uncle was dead, and they came with a group large enough to throw a party??

He noticed his twin, and excused himself from his mother to slip towards Barasa. In this very moment, he did not appreciate how much he looked like his father; like these 'Mwezi'. He was Tianxia, from the strong bloodline of his grandfather. Not...a pride of lions that seemed to routinely kill their leaders.

"Hey," he said, leaning in towards his twin. They were exactly the same except for a scar running down Baraka's nose; their cubhood antics of switching places had driven their mother into such an anger, she marked Baraka so anyone could determine if who they were speaking with was the heir, or his twin. "Should we just ditch this and go find something more interesting to do?" Baraka wasn't interested in getting to know anyone from Mwezi. Hell, even hunting sounded much more entertaining than talking about...moons or whatever.

Their sister Zia couldn't have been more excited, and she was probably off in the crowd, talking some poor soul's ear off about moons and jewelry and gods knew what else.

Ti'iah sat near the center of the gathering, listening to bits of conversations as her ears swiveled atop her head. This was a fascinating piece of history to experience, and though she was merely a fortuneteller and not any sort of scholar, it would be prudent to learn all she could about what would happen while this pride of lions visited the empire. Never had a pride visited like this, only with ambassadors and messengers in small groups. This...would put a bit of a strain on the hunters of the west, but the west was certainly the best equipped to be hosts.

The wild dog wasn't as familiar with the members of the West, and she did notice that for some lions, there was certainly an overlap of colours, and...perhaps even markings? The Mwezi were more linked with Tianxia than anyone could have guessed before this.

She turned towards a shyer looking lion, black with quite a pink mane; quita opposite of her solid white self. "Well, I take it you're settling in well?" she asked him politely, hoping her sudden speech wouldn't startle him. "The West is a beautiful place to temporarily set up home."

“Buh?” Pyke was pulled from his reverie by a voice beside him and to his surprise, to his ultimate surprise, he was greeted by a dog. A dog?!? Of all things! Maybe it was a little naive of him to think that he wouldn’t meet at least one thing that wasn’t a lion but having seen a cheetah saunter on past, maybe he shouldn’t be that surprised by a dog.

His greeting had hardly been polite though and thinking that ‘buh’ was in fact more of a sound one made when woken from your sleep, he decided he should probably elaborate on that particular set of words. “Oh, oh yes! This place is weird, I didn’t know they had dogs here!” Sitting himself down with a rather dusty flummox the dark male, with the bright pink mane lifted a paw and without a moments hesitation put said paw right in the middle of the white dogs head. “You’re a wild dog right? I’v never seen one of you before, well I sort of have but only in the distance.” A grin rose on his maw, clearly this doggo belonged here and that was so exciting!

He took a moment to ponder why in fact they didn’t have dogs in the mwezi, but she was, well, weird, it was weird and it was wonderful and he needed to tell someone this! “It’s really new here!” He exclaimed, his ears vanishing inside his dappled pink mane “We really don’t have little dogs and leggy cheetahs and things. I suppose you think thats weird though right?”

His tongue slipped out between his lips and he finally deemed it necessary to remove his paw from the pale wild dogs head and maybe, jussstttt maybe, reply to her actual question instead of spouting a few probably crazy questions of his own. “Oh yes, it is lovely here its so, so, you know, not home?” He tilted his head his amber eyes dancing happily. “You know what I mean?”

Recently married, and recently appointed Hunt Leader by the Queen - Belial was rolling in upgrades all around. Hunting was different, it supplied a unique satisfaction for the had-been Guard. He was still providing for the pride, but just in a different way, nourishment was an important and necessary facet to everyday life. He found comfort during the change over in his wife - Miyako - she was his rock.

Belial found his thoughts wandering back to his wonderful wife, the like of whom he hadn't seen for most of the many weeks trip. It had been for good reason, that her visits had been so sparse, distractions when one was wandering in the roguelands could have been fatal - he was all to familiar with that. "Miyako? Ah, there you are." He approached the dark lioness from behind, it was a wonder that he hadn't stumbled onto one of her family - again. It wouldn't have been the first time he made that mistake although it had provided a chance to bond, albeit awkwardly.

"How have you been?" He finally got around to asking. His ears could not maintain one set direction all the while he spoke with her. Though he wasn't a guard any longer he couldn't control the senses he had grown to use regularly. He wasn't sure if he was crazy or had there been wariness in the welcome of their rather large party? Belial was unfortunately unfamiliar with the blood ties to the pride, to a point, and so the wariness seemed nearly inappropriate to a lion who considered it simply an alliance.

She knew a couple of her brothers had come along as well, she just hadn't seen them yet. She was certain in time she would though. Giving a little startle she suddenly realized she had company and it was just the male she had been looking for. They hadn't talked much on the journey over here, she had been getting to know some of the other travelers and she was pleased they had finally come to the lands and were able to rest decently and catch their breath.

"Belial, you are a sight for sore eyes and feet." She laughed and gave him a nuzzle on the side of his face. "I am well, a little tired but overall good. You?" She asked him curiously as she glanced around as a white wild dog joined the array and she was quite curious to see what else might show up. "This place is very interesting is it not?" She wondered what all they might learn here.

"Sorry you had to take a 'demotion' when you married me." She teased, THOUGH he was a lead hunter just like her so it kinda worked out right?

Shida found himself in a lucky position, with the pride so low on individuals to fill ranks he was able to become a Historian. The pale, purple lion felt that the rank was befitting of his family and the past it shared with the pride. Shangyue had been arguably one of the most violent Kings, but that didn't mean he didn't bring up some interesting points. Shida wouldn't argue in the name of Shangyue, but as a historian he was able to question both sides for the sake of getting it right for future generations.

Although that had been his first goal after taking on the rank, a new and more time sensitive chance came to be. A trip to the Tianxia. He knew of the relationship between the two prides, he was also aware of the possible tension - how could there not be any? In signing up to travel with the Queen he tried to ensure that he gathered what knowledge he could in preparations for speaking in as politically correct a manner as he could. From his research he identified that a visit shared between the two pride hadn't happened in many lunar cycles, what a sin.

Travelling, wasn't his favorite, but finally arriving in Tianxia washed away his exhaustion and bitterness towards the whole adventure in favor for a thirst to know more. The pride was already unique to what he had been used too. The colors, scents, and sounds were overwhelmng, but in a fantastic way.

"Oh my."

He sucked in some air as he watched the Tianxia lions and other species swarm towards the visitors. He noted of at least a couple species that he had heard of, but never seen before in his young life. Judging by the lanky legs he could guess one was a cheetah? The other was of a dog breed, perhaps of the wild variety, but he couldn't have been sure. Though he felt that his head was ready to burst with questions he wasn't entirely sure where to begin or who to even speak too. So he dropped his rump and furrowed his brows, ultimately making him look rather grumpy in his overwhelmed state.
