Today it was raining. That hadn't put off the majority of the freshlings however, especially those more aquatically aligned or just who owned rain boots and macintoshes. Outside was an exciting prospect, the playground even more so, and very few of the freshlings were inside. It was mostly those who easily got sick, or didn’t like getting wet. Either way, it wasn’t many.
Needless to say, Kyle was not pleased at being one of them, consigned to the inside by his delicate constitution (not his words). Pouting severely, he was eyeing the selection of games with a beady eye and an expression that said he wasn’t going to be satisfied. Dayn was currently rearranging some of the cushions to make a space to play whichever game his sibling selected.
Finally, Kyle brought a copy of Frustration over. It was a well-loved box and the fourth set of pieces were missing for some reason, but it was still a fun game in Kyle’s opinion. Dayn smiled at his twin.
“Shall we look for a third player?”

Georgette sighed as he entered the indoor play area. He liked the rain but he wasn’t allowed to be outside in it. ‘Too high a chance of getting sick.’ The teacher said. His parents had made sure the school knew, of course. Otherwise he’d be out there splashing in puddles right this minute.
He looked around and spotted two others, one messing with pillows while the other held what looked like a game box. Since he was an only child he hadn’t played many games that weren’t for a single player. He usually just ended up playing card games, like solitaire. He stomped a hoof against the carpeted floor in a small spark of jealousy and picked a spot by the wall to lay down on his belly and kick his feet in the air. “I bet they’re never bored.” He muttered to himself.

Dayn and Kyle hadn't got parents, being cache stones, but they were known to the staff. Well, Kyle was. Dayn was generally regarded as a well-behaved freshling except for his fits of temper, but Kyle ....well, they weren't intentionally badly behaved, but they were very particular, and tended to dislike things dramatically - or on the other hand, like them dramatically - but they were mainly known for his poor constitution. Should something be going around, they seemed to always catch it, and they'd had complications more than once from a simple cold. Which is what had consigned them - and their overprotective brother - to the inside. Still, they were a friendly kid at heart, so they bounced over to Georgette after the suggestion from their twin. "Hi! D'ya wanna play Frustration with us? S'fun!"

Georgette looked up at the kid approaching him and nodded solemnly. “Sure. You’ll have to tell me how to play though, because I’ve.. -sigh- I’ve never played a board game before.” Georgette rolls onto his back, then slowly gets up to wander over to where the other kid had come from. He was secretly delighted that he’d been asked to play, but was being cautious about showing it yet. Georgette plopped down in the area where all the pillows had been set up, watching the two (from the looks of them, they were twins.) and waiting for whatever would come next.

Kyle tilted their head as Georgette revealed this /terrible information/. Board games were great! They would have to make sure that this other freshling had the BEST TIME EVER!!! Then they'd want to play board games again, and Kyle'd have another friend! Yes! Friendship! Kyle grinned to themself, then scurried back over to Dayn, who was just finishing setting up. Dayn had just set the dice up neatly when his twin returned, along with the other freshling. He blinked, then smiled at Georgette, sticking out his hand politely. "I'm Dayn, that's Kyle. Nice to meetcha!"

Georgette smiled at Dayn and Kyle, then shook the outstretched hand carefully. “I’m Georgette. Nice to meet you. So how do we play?” He looked down at the set up of dice and board, waiting for instructions. This was a new experience for him and he was excited to try it. He also hoped that, even though he’d never played the game before, he might win. (He was quite competitive, really.) He looked from one twin to the other expectantly.
