Kamacite wasn’t so sure about this. There were a lot of things that he got himself into that he regretted later, and he couldn’t help but wonder if this would be one of those situations.

Negaspace had plenty of room to move around and stay out of others’ way. The castle also held plenty of rooms for training, and as such, Kamacite was standing rather anxiously in the center of one. His arms were crossed loosely one under the other, nervously picking at the dark blue fabric of his robes.

The decorative haori that he typically wore over top had been removed and left to the side of the room, as it would just get in the way. His hair too was gone. Almost all of it had been cut off, except for enough to be pulled back into a small ponytail, because it was easier to just pull it out of the way instead of trying to style it.

Training was apparently a thing that was supposed to happen. Although Kamacite wasn’t entirely sure what Aue expected of him since. He could use his magic and that was about it. Still, he supposed this was better to test out now than to fight someone he didn’t know.

At least with Aue, he didn’t have to worry about being left to die or be eaten by youma. He hoped.

“You’re not going to go easy on me, are you?” Kamacite asked, a hint of coyness in his already quiet voice, as if that would maybe convince Aue to not hit him with his full strength. He still had a black eye and bruises he was recovering from. He would very much like to not have too many new ones.

Tiberius had found the space for them, because Aue wanted it quiet and fairly safe; Kamacite was skittish and nervous and tended to lack focus if he didn't feel at least somewhat comfortable. It was a problem that he hoped to rectify at some point, though how he was unsure...but for the moment, considerations had to be taken. The cat had come through and their current space was quiet and isolated.

He had taken the time to cut Kamacite's hair, and his own, even before heading to the Negaverse. It was a tactical pain in his a** and he wasn't about to deal with it if he didn't have to - they could have some sparring with the miserably long locks later, when his pack mate was less of an anxiety ridden mouse and better capable of defending himself.

"No. But I'm going to teach you...so you should not end up with broken bones." Kamacite had a small ponytail, Aue planned on grabbing it at least once, to prove that even that little bit was a bad idea; his own hair was longer and loose - a temptation he hoped would be too much to resist. "You had a problem with hand-to-hand, right?

"Let's try to fix some of that. Come here, I want you to hit me as hard as you can. See what you can do on your own."

The small frown on Kamacite’s face grew a little more distressed at the thought of Aue definitely not going easy on him. He said he shouldn’t end up with broken bones, not that he wouldn’t.

He shifted nervously on his feet, even more distressed about the idea of hitting Aue. First off, he didn’t want to hurt him. But that was probably already laughable. Fine, he didn’t want to seem pathetic when he wasn’t able to land a decent punch.

Drawing in a deep breath, he warily took the steps forward necessary to close the gap between them, and drew his arm back, and awkwardly swung to hit Aue in the arm. An action which resulted in Kamacite hissing in pain and taking a step back to shake out his hand, inspecting his knuckles to see if there was any immediate signs of injury.

Aue watched Kamacite with crossed arms and a flat expression; he didn't need to be a psychic to read his mind, no. It was like a flashing neon sign above dark eyes 'I DON'T LIKE THIS AT ALL' flashing over and over and over again. Tough s**t. I didn't like paying tuition to DCU, but I ******** did it. We do what we have to. You're going to do this, Kamacite, until it's easier and you don't run screaming every time. No packmate of mine is going to die so easily.

He wasn't expecting much.

What happened was so much worse.

There was literally nothing good about anything Kamacite did, except coming forward to do it.

"Tarvitsen kaljan..." Aue muttered, two words that would become very familiar with time but perhaps had not yet been picked up. "Okay, you don't even know how to make a proper fist. Like this." He demonstrated, curling four fingers down and tight, tucking his thumb against them so it wasn't sticking out. "Some idiots stick thumbs out, or tuck inside fist - only if you want to break something. This is a solid fist. It will hurt." He took Kamacite's fist and 'helped' him form it properly - it was not a comfortable thing.

"This is why you cut your nails, too."

"Heeeeeey!" A voice came back from the hall, low to the ground and somewhat muffled. There was a spitting sound, "I brought beer,
figured this would be worth watching." Aue perked a bit, but remained focused as the Mauvian dragged a ratty hank of cloth he'd gotten from god only knew where that had a six-pack and a half laying on it, as well as what looked like a half eaten package of Twinkies.

Apparently he'd gone Dumpster Diving or someone had brought him some treats that had been sat on? Stepped on? Ravaged somehow - and still eaten.

He was a cat, after all. "I'm ready. Entertain me, senshi!"

"Ignore the cat. You focus on this and me. You punch with the whole arm. Entire line of your arm, got it? You're small, put your weight into it. Leverage, like physics. Flat part here--" Aue smacked the flat of his fist so his knuckles dug into his palm, "and knuckles cause the pain. Bones of the arm drive the weight of the body forward.

"Where you hit matters too, but first. Try again. Hit me with a better fist. So I feel it, this time."

He didn’t know how to fight, okay?? He was never shown how, nor had he ever expected to need to know. He was a pushover as it was. Just being a little less of a pushover didn’t mean that he wasn’t still going to have his butt kicked.

Kamacite’s hand still hurt as Aue took it to help him form a proper fist, which he held loosely as he pulled back, frowning at the whole event. Not only that, but Tiberius decided he wanted to show up and watch, which only made Kamacite jump in surprise and peer wearily around Aue.

This was stupid. This was a waste of time. He wondered when Aue would realize that and give up on him. Probably sooner than later.

But he did as he was told, because that was the least he could do in life. He squeezed his hand into a fist, making sure not to put his thumb over, nor did he tuck it inside. Still not too sure about any of this, he swung again, straightening out his arm as he punched at Aue’s arm once more.

“Do you honestly think I’m going to be able to be any good at this?” he wondered, stepping back so he could rub at his elbow, because now that hurt too.

Tiberius was making a noise that sounded somewhere between a hairball being slowly scraped up the throat, and the chitter of excitement at spotting a squirrel or bird through a window on a beautiful summer day.

It was laughter. Kamacite's efforts at punching the big lemon b*****d were really pathetic - like, to the point that the Mauvian really felt badly for him.
And he liked the dark-eyed corrupt! He was small and nervous, sure,
but he also was good about opening the beer cans and putting the fish sticks in the oven on request.

"Might wanna teach that one self defense like the ladies, he's not big enough to punch you out, lemons." One of the beers was leveraged open with a guitar pick and some applied physics so that Tiberius could enjoy some luke-warm suds with his entertainment.

Annoying as the walking beanbag was, it might have had a point. Aue had actually felt a bit more with the second 'attack' from Kamacite, but it was still just kind of...lackluster. His packmate was small and fast, lithe. Not built for power or any sort of sustained skirmish, like Aue himself was. That was fine, but he really did need to learn how to throw a punch, how to take one - how to dodge and roll. How to use another's momentum to send them flying.

A karate class might have been better...or, as Tiberius had jokingly suggested, a self-defense class.

"Yes. In time, you'll be good enough." Aue went to get a beer, cracked it and took a swig, glowering at the pain in the a** cat as he hissed "Stop being a ******** or leave." When he returned to Kamacite he simply nodded, "You need work, but we are just starting. You are small and fast, we will work to use your advantages, but you need to learn to punch first. And where."

Aue pointed to his own nose, "Punch to the nose causes great pain, maybe break it. If it bleeds, great. It's a good target." He touched his Adam's apple next, "Harder spot, but also good. Stops opponent from calling for help." Next he tapped his brooch, frowned, gave Kamacite his beer to hold and then unwound his sash so he could remove his top. Once he was bare chested and the disturbing hole was showing, he continued. "Breastbone - not so great, thick bone, avoid it. But if you can hit just here there's a little bone you can snap back, it hurts like a b***h." Aue continued, showing him where to aim to hit the kidneys as well, and said it was dirty pool but a punch to the back of the head or lower back were also perfectly acceptable if his packmate could manage them.

"Fight dirty, Kamacite. Dart in, land your hit, dart out. In and out, use your speed. Now, show me where you want to hit me. I want to make sure you were paying attention."

Kamacite felt himself wilt a little at the sound of laughter, but he focused himself on inspecting his arm for damage while his face turned red with embarrassment.

He knew he needed to try harder. He knew Aue was spending time on him, trying to help him improve. Right now, Kamacite felt as though he was just wasting Aue’s time. It wasn’t that he liked being patched up all the time. Well. Not the pain that was involved with it, but the attention was nice. Ah, but that was not something he should be thinking about, especially right now when he really could get hurt if he wasn’t at least trying.

And he really didn’t want Aue to get too frustrated with him, because right now if anyone was going to spend the time helping Kamacite work on being a better fighter, it was Aue.

He took the beer with both hands when it was handed to him, straightening up a little more as he tried to ignore the snickering from Tiberius, and the implication that he wasn’t capable of learning as a man. He wasn’t sure he was quite able to disguise his distress, but he gritted his teeth even if his throat was tight with emotion.

Even the distraction of Aue taking off his shirt, which turned Kamacite’s face just a shade more red, didn’t seem to be enough, but he was determined to be useful.

Not that Aue needed to put his shirt back on…

“Nose, throat, here,” he said, pointing just below his own breastbone, although he kept his shirt on for it, “Kidneys, head, and back, if I can manage it,” he said.

Subdued, the Mauvian sat with his beer; maybe he'd pushed too hard. Silence was the point of order for a bit, until Lemons calmed down and the sparkly one didn't look quite so much like he was going to choke on his own upset. Humans could be awfully touchy, it was unfortunate.

After all, he was just trying to be helpful!

"Good. Good." Kamacite was obviously upset because of Tiberius' barbs - meant well or not, being considered less than a man wasn't pleasant - but he was struggling to put it aside for their lesson. Aue took his beer back, took another swig, then set it down what he deemed a safe distance way from where they were going to be grappling. "I want you to feel it, that little spot. Make your fist and put it here." Aue guided Kamacite through a slow-motion punch to his solar plexus. "This is solar plexus, a good place to hit anyway, even if you can't snap that bone. Knock the wind right out of you.

Hit with fist, foot, or knee - anything is good. While your opponent is doubled over, grab the hair and bam knee to nose. Effective and efficient. Then star-seed the son of a b***h if you can." Aue nodded as if to himself, then released Kamacite's wrist.

"Give it a try. Don't worry if you break my nose, it's not a problem."

”Solar plexus,” he mumbled in repetition as Aue guided his fist, his face still hot from Tiberius’s earlier jab, and definitely not because Aue had his stupid shirt off. Stupid. He was trying to focus on fighting.

Everything Aue was telling him made sense in theory. The concept was fine, it was just the actual practice that Kamacite was concerned about. He was already several inches shorter than Aue, and about half his weight. Throwing any kind of punch at him was… well… he doubted it would do much.

When his fist was released, Kamacite took a step back and drew in a breath. He didn’t want to try and break Aue’s nose. He had a nice nose. And arms and chest -

And he was absolutely focusing on fighting him and not about what he looked like. He had a boyfriend, after all! Although there was no harm in looking, right?

Kamacite squeezed his fist tight, his brows set with resolve as he prepared himself, and then stepped forward to swing a punch to Aue’s solar plexus as directed, and then reached for his hair to yank him down to try and knee in the nose. Which Kamacite still thought was a shame… but if Aue needed to be patched up after, he supposed he could help…

Aue knows that having his shirt off will be a distraction for Kamacite. He doesn't say anything aloud about it because visually appreciating a person's form has very little to do with anything but appreciating an aesthetic, but he also knows that no fight is ever truly fair and has decided to make full use of this. It also makes it easier to show his pupil the precise places on the body to aim for without the distortion of cloth.

Being able to accurately gauge where those locations are with cloth would be important as well, but that would be another lesson.

Obedient - if ineffectual - Kamacite landed a punch roughly where Aue had instructed. It hurt the way an exuberant punch on the shoulder from a friend might, but he bent as though it were worse so that Kamacite would get the feel of the moves; he did shift his head last minute so that his nose remained unbroken and the other corrupt got to bonk the broad of his forehead instead, which probably hurt his knee more than Aue's head.

"Good." When they were separated again, Aue rubbed at the reddened spot on his forehead where Kamacite's knee had connected fairly solidly. He was displeased somewhat with just how much Kamacite had held back, "You only held back. Don't.

"Your opponent isn't going to hold back. They will try to kill you. We're sparring, yes, but you must always attack as if you intend to kill. If your partner is incapable of handling themselves and is hurt, that is on them, not you."

Aue took up a slightly defensive stance, one that any moron that watched an action movie might use. "Again. This time, if you pull your attacks, I will punish you accordingly.

"Come!"

Tiberius wondered what sort of punishment the Lemon b*****d had in store for Kamacite. Probably nothing too bad, since he seemed reasonable and wanted him to learn. The Mauvian chewed at part of the aluminum can holding his beer captive until he could bite the damn thing open and have an easier time getting to the suds. "Kick his a**, shortness! He likes it!"

Kamacite had not wanted to hurt Aue, so when he moved his head so that Kamacite kneed his forehead instead, there was some momentary relief.

Until Aue called him out on holding back. The relief he’d felt quickly dissipated and his shoulders slumped a little in shame as he hobbled a few paces back, and reaching down to rub at his knee. He’d told himself that he wanted to try, but Kamacite had no intention of attacking with the intention to kill.

In fact, hurting Aue was as far from what he wanted in comparison to when he’d first met the White Moon senshi in that dark alley. And he wanted to kill him even less. The idea of being in a pack, being on a team, was more than anything Kamacite could have dreamed.

Which meant he owed it to his pack, if not to himself, to improve and be a capable fighter on his own. He knew very well that Aue and Tiberius, or even Wolfeite, couldn’t always be around to keep him from getting himself killed.

The threat took a moment to register.

Kamacite froze, a chill eating through him, before he slowly straightened to watch Aue’s movements and new stance with wariness and a bit of fear.

The sound of teeth gnashing through metal seemed to snap him out of the trance he was falling into, and a glance was spared towards Tiberius who was still watching, and even cheering him on. Sort of.

Whatever Aue has meant didn’t matter. Kamacite didn’t want to know. He didn’t want to risk whatever this stronger, more capable man planned to do if he disappointed him again.

Dangerous...

The times in which Aue had helped him seemed to pull down his guard. But pack or not, if Aue decided Kamacite wasn’t worth the effort, he could easily dispose of him.

Maybe…

He lunged forward, a carefully balled fist aimed for wherever he could hit, wherever he could kick-

No, he was told where to aim. He tried a punch at Aue’s neck, a knee to his side, before trying to push himself back so he could charge forward with another assault.

That far-away look had come again to Kamacite's dark eyes, putting a glassy sort of look over the black iris and blown pupil. Aue wondered what he'd have to do to pull him out of the shock whilst in Negaspace - the options were limited. Luckily, Tiberius' garbage-cat status came in handy: the godawful sounds of him gnawing through aluminium seemed to snap the other corrupt out of his trance before Aue had to come up with something.

Kamacite came at him in what seemed like an undisciplined, unplanned attack - which he corrected by shifting back to a more precise aiming scenario as he'd been taught. Fear lent the slender corrupt strength, his fist landing a glancing blow to Aue's Adam's apple in a most unpleasant manner, the knee he took full on to gauge how much power was there; it was more than enough to drive his diaphragm up and send the air from his lungs in a hiss.

"Hyv-" As his opponent regrouped for another charge, Aue stepped in close and to the side, dropping low so he could get his shoulder down and using Kamacite's own momentum to send him up and over Aue's shoulder in a flip. "Very good." He would even offer a hand to help Kamacite up, mouth slightly curved in what approximated a smile in the non-stoned version of the Finn.

"So you can bite, you just do not want to. It is good to know. "

Tiberius cheered as Kamacite got some good whacks in on Aue, and winced as the giant lemon send the kid over into a ******** pinwheel that landed with a rather unpleasant thunk on the ground. "Hey! I call foul!
Stop trying to kill the kid, you're a helluva lot bigger than he is! Rude!"

Which maybe was a little funny coming from a magical talking dog-sized alien cat sitting on a hank of semi-rotted velvet with aluminium detritus and part of a six-pack of beer around him, but...this was the Negaverse, after all.

"He's not gonna learn s**t if you keep knocking all the lesson out of his brains!" Stupid lemon, how's the kid supposed to learn like this? He's obviously meant to be the one tossing your fat a** around, sheeesh. "How about you let him chuck you for a bit?"

"I could let him throw you first." Aue wouldn't have harmed a Mauvian, they were too precious and necessary, however...threatening to do so was absolutely allowed. "Throws are part of the lesson, yes. But I needed to know if he could be serious first."

While Kamacite thought that maybe he was doing an okay job, getting the wind knocked out of him as his back slammed against the ground was a much better indication of how incapable he was when it came to fighting. He knew he wouldn’t win, and Aue had already told him he wasn’t going to go easy on him, but it was still startling to end up dazed and in pain on the ground.

He could hear Tiberius chattering about Aue’s treatment, although Kamacite couldn’t be sure if that was sincerity or sarcasm or all just feigned. He didn’t know much about Tiberius other than that he’d jumped on him for not handing over his chicken fast enough, and that he saved him from being killed by a senshi.

Not that Kamacite wasn’t grateful for all that, but it was difficult to trust anyone to have his well being as part of their interests, because why would they? There was always something that could be gained by lending a hand. Favors to be cashed in later was the least of Kamacite’s concerns, at least where the Negaverse was involved.

Kamacite stared up at the offered hand, and there was a long moment of hesitation, but he reached up, his hand shaking from the exertion of trying to fight, and took Aue’s hand as he helped him to his feet. He took in a couple more deep breaths just to make sure his lungs were still working, and took a few unsteady steps away before turning to put his fists up in a similar manner to how Aue held his before.

“I am serious,” he said, although it was still a bit winded, his expression set with determination laced with wariness, his face flushed and his body achy. He’d told Aue before that he didn’t want to be a disappointment. And if this helped him not be one, then he would do whatever it took.

“What next?”

Perhaps the funniest part of the whole exercise was that Aue really was going easy on Kamacite - he was simply not being gentle with him, nor assuming that he was incapable of something merely because he was small and nervous the way so many others had. Of course, he was also mentally changing his estimation of the other corrupt's capabilities and working out the best way to utilize them, much like he might have optimized a character for a game in a tournament. Tactics were tactics were tactics, it didn't matter if you were talking games or life.

He would get the most out of Kamacite that was possible.

Kamacite asked for no quarter though Aue could feel the way his body trembled from his exertions already. Stubborn, yes good. You need it. You also need to be smarter about your attacks, you are small and I am not. You cannot beat me head on. It's alright, you know this. You did well hitting throat and side - moves meant to incapacitate. You are more capable already than you realize. Let's add to that.

And look, he was already trying to mimic the garbage stance Aue had used before! It wasn't even a good one, but he was aping it! "That is a bad defensive stance, I used it because most senshi don't know s**t about fighting unless it's from action movies. Let me show you properly, stay like that but let me move you."

Aue would do just that, coming close to Kamacite and moving his limbs as he wanted them, even coming close behind the other senshi so he could fit hands to hips and use feet to nudge Kamacite's into position for a stronger, more stable base. "This is where you want to be for defense. It puts you lower, yes, but that is good. Because then you can flip and toss people using their momentum, as I did you."

The Finn came back around to Kamacite's front and nodded approvingly. "Two centers of gravity - in men it's generally the chest. Shove hard enough, we topple." He pushed Kamacite a bit to prove that it would affect him pretty strongly, but not hard enough to send him over. "In most women, it's the hips. If you shove the hip bones, they are more likely to topple." Again, a demonstration of where, though this time it would have much less affect. "A Throw requires only applied physics, not luck, so it's safer bet...but you have to let your opponent close, which is risky, always.

"Stand normally." When Kamacite had obeyed this odd command, Aue flashed teeth, "Now, back to defense position. Be precise. You need to make it a muscle memory. When you have it, I will teach you to throw me. The drunk furball is correct, you need that."

"Just kick him in the balls, kid!" Tiberius sprawled out, beginning his grooming routine now that he was filled with beer and quite buzzed. At least he could say that he'd done a good for a senshi - sourbutt was gonna teach the firework how to do a throw. Probably.

His body ached, and he knew it would just get worse, but there was that lingering fear of what would happen to him if he held back, or if he showed that he wasn’t doing his best. He didn’t know Aue well enough to be able to tell what threat was real and what was meant to motivate him to continue trying. Kamacite could only assume that he was deadly serious about anything he said or did, which meant that temporarily satisfied or not, Aue was dangerous and not to be taken lightly.

He withered a little as Aue told him how he was in a bad defensive stance, having hoped to try and do something right by copying what Aue had done, but it didn’t seem to offend Aue too much. In fact, he was moving forward to adjust his stance, which Kamacite held as best he could. He couldn’t shake his wariness, even with Tiberius half paying attention from the side.

Kamacite was still a stranger to Aue and Wolfeite’s pack. Trained or not all depended on how well Kamacite held up.

He tried not to think of the way Aue was moving his limbs, but it didn’t quite stop his face and neck from heating. It wasn’t that he was even thinking about Aue without his shirt any more, or that little smile he showed. This was just how Kamacite was and how he reacted to any situation in which he was touched or someone got too close. He didn’t understand the psychology behind it. It was just something that happened.

As instructed, Kamacite lowered his hands to stand as he normally would have, a bit awkwardly and cautious, but when told to raise his defense, he lifted his hands and positioned his feet in a way that Aue had moved him.

The stance faltered a little as Aue explained that he would now show him how to throw him, watching him with increased skepticism. But that only lasted for a moment, before he strengthened his stance and nodded.

“Okay… I’m ready,” he promised, but as always, it was so much easier to actually say something and not believe it or mean it.
