The very first time he had been inside the Haunted House, he had ended up in a room that resembled a giant pizza. He hoped he'd end up there again today.
Rojo had wandered in here by mistake, as you did, and he was aiming to make it out quickly again, at least until he saw a familiar ghoul petting a cat. She was the one with the minipets! Toady... Tohee... Tomey...
"TOKI!" the skeleton said, clearly very excited by her presence and very pleased that he had recalled her name. He hurried over to her and her cat, completely missing the waist-high bat with a bat that was sneaking up behind him.
MOB SUMMON  Don't get in the way of Mr. Bat's bat.

The cat thing takes yet another swipe at her leg, and she kicks it (rather spitefully). Unfortunately, it manages to dance mostly out of harm's way. Rojo yelped as the spiked bat crashed into his back, spinning wildly and punching its wielder clean across the face. He wasn't usually one to lash out without reason, but he also wasn't accustomed to getting hit with a bat.

He wouldn't have thought the house had armed gang members or random malicious cats either, but here he was and here they were, so he couldn't really deny it, now could he?
The boil kicked at the bat with his pointy boot and hopped back with a gleeful chuckle. At least it seemed they were easy to hit.
"I am okay! It is good that they are not pizza!" he chirped vaguely.

He swung a fist a the bat again, proud when he landed a decent hit.
"No, the paint is a part of me!" he said, scratching at it a little while he watched his opponent. It even fluctuated over time, though it did it so slowly that it could be terribly boring to watch. He also lacked the ability to control its patterns, which was occasionally a point of frustration. It would have been nice to coordinate his outfits around some of the shapes it chose.
"It moves too! Maybe some time we can sit and w—"
Rather deeply engaged in his own vanity, Rojo hadn't noticed the third swing of the bat. It hurt about as much as the first two.

"A part of you?! I am so jealous! And goodness, this creature is so very angry..." Toki runs over, trying to get a closer look at the small vicious mob creature. She wants a weapon, too. Hmm-- " Yikes!" It takes a rather bad-tempered swing at her, and she takes an (equally bad-tempered) swipe back. "Ahhh, it is so pretty. You have very good fashion sense. The prospect of discussing himself was as good a reason as any to finish this quickly, but Rojo was having a bit of trouble hitting the bat even with that motivation. He swung too wide at first, then held his punch when it moved away to hit Toki, missing entirely once again as it turned back to him. It was only when he planted his feet and struck out with both fists that he even hit it at all, and it was barely a tap.

That was the last straw.
As the creature swiftly faced him once more, pummeling him with its spiny bat, Rojo brought out the big guns. His secret weapon. The fight ender. Battle winner. Bat destroyer.
He leaned away, held up his arm, and literally shot his hand and forearm at the bat, the limb trailing a respectably celebratory amount of confetti in its wake.
It missed.
"That did not go as planned."
