Jumping right up on the high horse of Vice Captainship, I'd like to take this oportunity to start a few long since needed sub forums. First of all, are there any suggestions on what type of sub-forums we need around here? I wouldn't like to wait the Guild's resources on somehting nobody wants.
Personally I'm thinking we need a Tech/Mod/Repair subforum and/or a Luthier/builder(guitar and amps/effects) subforum.
Any ideas?

I like the tech/mod/repair suggestion a lot.... We've been asked a few times about having a bassist's subforum. I think a songwriting subforum would be useful, and possibly lesson/technique forum.
basically the stickies could be turned into sub-forums that may be used. I think keeping the "Get to know your community Psycho's" thread is good where it is: right on the main page.

We don't want a subforum for every diffrent part of guitaring, that'd draw people away from the main forum, and it'd make it a hell of a job to navigate if we had too many sub-forums.
Trust me with that one, just have one or two subforums. Possibly three.

So the list so far is:
1.Tech/Modding/Repairing/Restoring (possibly called simply "Tech" 2.Bassist Sub-forum (only if we have enough current bass players to constitute it) 3.Possibly a Song Writing forum 4.Possibly a Technique/practicing/theory forum
Other Ideas include a Gear forum (for reviews, questions, etc), and I'm trying to descern whehter we should combine the idea of a Tech/modding/repair forum with a Lutherie/gear construction forum, or if they should be separate. Any opinions?

Any opinions? Well, to refine the list a bit: 1. Tech, Gear and Lutherie forum 2. Bassist forum (again if there's enough to constitute one) 3. Theory, Practice and Songwriting Subforum With any luck, the combination will keep these forums somewhat active, and we can maintain the original forum as a meet and greet general discussion type forum.

That sounds like a winning team. I'm willing to give bunching the Gear in with the Lutherie, but I'm not convinced it will work out completely in the long run. However right now I think it shouldn't be a problem, as there are only a hand-full of members interested in mods, repair, and building anything.

Yeah... we can see if it works out and if it doesn't then we can create a gear subforum and take the gear out of the tech forum.

I agree with Bamb. We need to keep the main forum acitve. That is why I propsoe that we should not have a Techniques forum, but rather keep it in the main forum. As playing is the main part of playing guitar, I think it is fitting that they stay in the main forum, central to the other aspects (building etc.) That is what I think anyways.

We could just leave the techniques and playing to the main forum, so that it stays active, but use sub-forums for things like Gear/Tech, Bass (if numbers are efficient), and perhaps Artists. Any other ideas? I think I'll start a poll for the bass subforum idea... hmm..
