Summer came and went, and with it, Alise's 13th birthday. Being a teenager didn't particularly feel any different from when she was... well, not a teenager, save for maybe her mom was starting to be a little more lenient with her in some areas, though not all. Well, at least she was allowed to stay up later, which was funny, because Alise already stayed up late as Lepus, because Lepus did what Lepus wanted, which was be a defender of justice and all that.
And defenders of justice didn't have bedtimes.
Of course, with it being her last year at Knightside, her mother was starting to really try pushing the need for more ladylike behavior, citing the fact that her grandparents were paying for Alise to attend Crystal next fall; honestly, it wasn't even like Alise wanted to go to such a fancy place! In any case, being ladylike could wait a little longer. A lot longer. Like, maybe a few more years or so longer.
Etoile was staying home tonight, no doubt helping herself to Alise's leftover Halloween candy, so Lepus was sans her Mauvian companion for the time being. The night was relatively quiet and uneventful yet again, and so Lepus took the time to play some Pokemon Go, walking around trying to hatch a few eggs, but also keeping watch for baddies at the same time... not that there had been any so far. Well, all the more time to play, right?
Now if only her connection didn't keep dropping. Where were all the free wifi hotspots, anyway? At this rate, her battery would die before she found something that didn't want to charge her just to use for a few hours, and Lepus hated to have to dip into her Etoile Candy Fund.
Especially with the holidays on the way.

Tonight, Charybdis was trying to be extra super on the alert for any bad people that she could feel on the edge of her mind when she walked around. Lately she had been encountering some very mean human-people when she went out for her night walk, not just the super bad youma that she had been meeting before she became a magic person, or when she was very early on. Which, she was still kind of new on this.
She'd been in a bit of a rut meeting good people, or good magic star-head kitties. She hadn't seen her Seal Prince in a while, nor any of the knights that she had met when she was still a non-magic girl. It seemed like it was only new person after new person, and that was both good and bad. Good because new people were great, but bad because she wanted to see all of her old friends too! She liked playing with her friends, and to be able to go on her loopy circle-walk around the town with someone that she knew and liked would be real nice. Especially if they were strong with magic, unlike her, who only had Boop.
Boop was cute... but not very good company.
Tonight seemed to be smiling on her, though, as the only feelings she had were the warm and fuzzy not-wormy ones, which meant... a good person? Maybe? Or something. Maybe a magic kitty? Oddly, it seemed to be a young woman, phone in hand, walking around. "Hello!" she called cheerfully in greeting. "How are you doing tonight?" Oh, yes. This wasn't a wriggly-worm-feeling person at all!
A small voice caught Lepus' attention, and she looked up from her phone, briefly turning it closer to herself so that Charybdis couldn't see what she was playing, though after giving it some thought, Lepus relaxed a bit. After all, it was just another chibi, and not one of the adults or older teens she'd run across before, who might scold her for playing on her phone, as if they had never gotten bored before or anything like that.
What a bunch of losers who didn't even know how to have fun.
"Hey there!" Lepus called out, raising a hand (the one not holding her phone) in greeting, "I'm doing pretty great, actually? I mean, it's pretty quiet right now, so I'm just, y'know, chilling? Since there's nothing going on."
Lepus didn't run into other chibis that often, but usually they weren't as serious as the older senshi were, so it was okay to admit she wasn't really doing much, right?

Ah! The other person was actually being friendly, and the relief curled in Charybdis' little tummy as she scampered closer to the big senshi, giving them a wiggly-toothed smile, tongue poking out and everything. "Hi!" she repeated, waving with both gloved hands. Blue eyes caught half a glimpse of what was on the phone, but the other senshi had hid it well, so she couldn't be sure. It looked a lot more fun than not using a phone at all, though!
"I'm glad you're great," she sighed adoringly to the older senshi that would clearly be her idol for this evening, "and I'm glad it's quiet, too. There have just been so many bad mean people lately, and Boop and I can't really do anything about them, you know? Other than make them chase us. Which gets real tiring after a few days." a puff out a shake of a little golden head.
"Do we get lots of quiet nights? Cause I'm really hoping so. I'm Charybdis, by the way!" small fingers waggled. "I'm the Senshi of Seals! And um, like.... the pinniped ones, not the ones that go on birthday cards."
"Sure there are!" Lepus said, "I mean, there's good nights and bad nights, but usually it can be pretty quiet." Admittedly her answer was a little skewed based on her own experiences, but Lepus figured as long as one didn't go actively looking for trouble, then generally, one wouldn't run into any of the mean people Charybdis was talking about. Generally.
"I'm Lepus, the senshi of rabbits- like, uh... well, rabbits," Lepus said, following Charybdis' example, "And not like... hares- that's someone else. And I can make people chase me, too! Except it's not really me they're chasing."
Was Boop a cat? Lepus didn't see one around, but maybe it was staying home like Etoile did a lot.

Good nights and bad nights- made sense. Giulia had already encountered a couple of each of those. "I like the quiet nights better. The bad monsters will get distracted, but the people will do bad things and try and touch me and make me real tired. I don't like that." she wrinkled up her nose, thinking. "It's nice to meet you, Lepus. That's kind of neat that there is a senshi of rabbits and a senshi of hares- they are very close relatives. I wonder if there is a senshi of sea lions, or walrus?" That would be kind of interesting.
"Yeah, though! They usually look at Boop, while I can be sneaky and try and hit them and make them go away!" Charybdis gave a sage nod. "Do you have a story to go with your name Lepus? Like, Charybdis was a monster in mythology stories." she beamed at Lepus happily, and said, "I'm a monster!" Rawr!
"Maybe there are! If so, you'll probably run into them one of these days, on a night like this," Lepus said encouragingly, "That's how I found out there was a senshi of hares. Or maybe you'll find they even go to the same school as you? I met some of my friends that way."
In some cases, she'd played a part in their awakening, too. Bringing classmates home to meet Etoile had proved to be a valid strategy two out of two times- could she keep it up?
"I don't think there's any stories about Lepus, other than that like, the constellation's supposed to be a rabbit being chased by dogs? I dunno, I never really found anything online," Lepus answered, shrugging, "Well, either a hare or a rabbit, anyway."
"So like, by the way- I'm really curious now, but who is Boop?"

Oh. Oh, that would be awesome to meet another senshi who had magic like hers and who liked seals and then they would practically be like magical siblings, or magical cousins or something, and maybe they could become second-best friends, since Ara was already her bestest-best friend, and they could wander around together at night and that would just be super awesome.
Giulia pursed her lips, considering. "I go to Knightside," she said thoughtfully, "There might be some senshi there. I saw a magical starhead kitty on the playground once, like the one who gave me my magic, so if the kitty is there, then there's gotta be other magic people there. Right?" Surely she was right...
"You're a constellation?" her ears practically perked, and she considered. "Are there other Lepus around, then? Cause a constellation is lots of stars, right? So if you're Lepus, is there like... a Lepus 2 who is from another star?" She'd thought the senshi were all magical people with worlds, not whole constellations! That was so cool. Lepus must be really strong, being a constellation!
Who was Boop? Charybdis giggled, and called out- "Seal Pup! Come meet our new friend, Boop!" The magical seal shimmered into existence and wobbled around the area, orking, borking, making noise... "Boop!" Giulia chased after the seal, trying to get its attention, but the magic continued to do its thing. "Boop, say hello to Lepus." ignored, Charybdis huffed. "This is Boop. It doesn't listen good."

Seal Pup! Charybdis creates what looks to be a baby seal. It is clearly magical. It is very cute, and the soft little squeaks it makes encourage everyone to look at it. And not at Charybdis herself. It is precious and pure. With very big, wet, cute eyes. It can remain in a 10 foot area of where Charybdis cast the ability, flopping aimlessly towards her enemies and making soft little chuffy-whuffy noises. Seal Pup can be used 3 times and it is effing adorable. The seal remains for 20 seconds unless viciously attacked; once attacked, it cries for 5 seconds and vanishes (either at the end of the 5 seconds or at the end of its duration if attacked late). (TL;DR: Look! A Distraction!)
Lepus listened with interest as Charybdis talked, in particular, the part where she talked about meeting what Lepus interpreted to be a Mauvian visiting her at school. For some reason, it sounded a little familiar, but she couldn't quite place a finger on why at the moment.
"Oh, hey, I go to Knightside, too!" Lepus said, though given she didn't interact much with the younger grades, she had no idea if Charybdis was anyone she knew, "It's my last year, though. Then I'm going to Crystal." ' And then Charybdis was showing her who Boop was, and Lepus watched as the magic took form. The seal pup was certainly cute, even though it didn't seem to be listening to the younger chibi, though Lepus wondered if it did anything else... though it still was pretty cute. "That was pretty neat!" she said, when it finally disappeared, "I thought Boop was like, one of the 'starhead kitties', but a seal pup? That's pretty cool."
An idea came to mind just then, and a mischievous look briefly crossed Lepus 's face. "Sooo, like, there's not exactly a Lepus 2, but there is an Alpha and Beta Leporis. With a little magic, I can make it look like there's more than one Lepus, though. This way!"

Super Sailor Scout Attack: This way!
Much like the first attack, Lepus tricks her opponents into chasing after a fake Lepus. This time, however, there's two of her- who go running into opposite directions; no matter which one her opponents choose to chase after, the two fake Lepus will ultimately meet back up with each other and merge into one Lepus, which then turns into a bunny that disappears, once her opponents get close enough, leaving her opponents confused and possibly disoriented. This lasts for thirty seconds, and can be used twice.

Small hands clasped together, gloves muffling the clap of small hands. "That is so cool that we go to the same school." the excitement filled her voice, and she rocked back on her feels, then shoved back up onto her tiptoes, staring starry-eyed at the older girl. "Crystal will be a fun school. My sisters went there, and my momma went there, and it's a tradition. I'll probably go there too when I am old enough. I'm only 7." the sigh was heavy, and probably much more dramatic than was warranted.
"Boop is Boop," Giulia explained. "My little pup needed a name, I couldn't just call it pup. I mean, I could have, but that wouldn't have been very personal. I wish I had a starhead kitty, but all the ones I have met have someone else. I am making friends with all of them, though. It's lovely. They all like to eat different snacks, so I have a little list of who likes what. I want to be able to feed all the kitties." her nod was quick, enthusiastic. "I like Boop. They are pretty neat. I don't know anyone else who can make baby seals."
But apparently Lepus wanted to show her something, and the little senshi prepared herself to trot after- wait. She paused, blue eyes blinking as she realized that by saying this way her new friend hadn't been trying to lead her away, but maybe... show her? "That is a lot of Lepus," she whispered in awe, trotting after one of them. And then- "A BUNNY!" it was a delighted shriek. Bunnies were so cute! She loved bunnies too! Ahhhh!
Lepus watched as Charybdis chased after the Lepus 'doubles', eager to see what happened next. Would she be angry at being tricked, or find Lepus' magic to be cool? It wasn't the first time she had shown off her magic to someone else- Lepus did that plenty of times now- but this had been a little... without warning? Kind of.
She kind of wondered though, knowing that Charybdis had given a name to her own little magical summon- should she name the rabbit? Was that a thing people did? Maybe it was just a little kid thing.
"Well? What do you think?" Lepus finally asked, catching up to the other senshi, "It's pretty cool, right?"

This was the cutest thing, and as Giulia - Charybdis- spun to look at the older senshi, her eyes were gleaming with joy and delight. "That is so cool!" she practically shrieked, excited. "Do you think Boop will do something like that one day? Two Boops!" it would be the best thing, and she'd have to show everyone. And she did mean everyone. Repeatedly. There would be no secrets! "Your magic is so cool!" her hands clapped and she did an actual gleeful skip. "You are so lucky Lepus, your magic is adorable and perfect!"
Lepus beamed at the compliment, happy to have a fan of her magic. "Thanks!" she said, happily, "Your magic's pretty cute, too? I mean, the little seal pup is cute and all, and that's cute that you gave it a name, too?"
Why was she being so humble all of a sudden? Well, it wasn't as if she was a super prideful person to begin with; besides, maybe Lepus simply didn't want to make Charybdis feel left out.
In any case, it occurred to Lepus that there was something she wanted to ask the other girl, before they eventually parted ways.
"Hey, you said one of the magic cats visited you at school once, right?" Lepus asked, curious, "You wouldn't happen to remember their name, would you?"
She had a sneaking suspicion she knew who the cat was, but Lepus wanted to be sure.

Ahhhh! Charybdis was going to catch fire if she kept glowing with joy at the compliments. Boop was cute! Boop's name was cute! Ahhhh! She had made the right decision, and knowing she was in the right was always just so... nice. "Thank you," she squealed, and knew it came out pitched just at the tone it probably shouldn't be if she was trying to be grown up and 'play it cool' or whatever. Not quite shrieky. Probably.
The question about the magic kitty gave her pause, and she pursed her lips, considering. "Etoile." After a moment the name slipped out, spilled off her tongue with a slight accent to the pronunciation. "She was a very nice kitty. I gave her a mint and a plate of water. Poor kitty couldn't get in the house!" she waggled her fingers, sighing. "No hands. It must be hard to be a kitty."
When Charybdis gave out the name of the cat that had visited her at school, Lepus' hunch was confirmed. Etoile had told her the story about how she had been rescued from certain starvation, and by some twist of fate, Lepus was talking to the little cat's 'savior' right now.
Maybe it wasn't just a coincidence that they ran into each other tonight.
"So you're the one she was talking about," Lepus said brightly, "Etoile lives with me- or, well, my mom doesn't know about her- but she told me about you, and how you helped her out."
