CHILDHOOD Karen is the second child of Braden Williams and the only child of Piper Williams, a result of a second marriage. Her older brother was born years before she was, and her father's first marriage fell apart several years before her birth. Her father, a pureblood wizard, had met and fallen in love with her muggle mother and married a year before her birth, and life for the Williams family couldn't be better. Karen developed a love of cars early in her life, as her pureblood brother had found the muggle world fascinating and persuaded their father to get one. She even decided to read up as much as she could on the subject, grabbing books from the local library to read and finding and hanging around the local repair shop.
Her mother, however, despaired over the fact that while she got a daughter, she was more of a tomboy than anything else. However, even that didn't prepare her for the realization that her daughter was magical, as when Karen turned eight, she managed to accidentally make one of her stuffed animals explode in a shower of stuffing. Her father was forced at that point to tell his wife that he, his son, and Karen were magical. As a result, when her Hogwarts letter came, Piper was not caught unawares and was able to accept that her daughter would be attending school far from where she lived. Karen, however, was disappointed that the place was completely magical and therefore she couldn't use anything muggle there.
