Just like joy, and sadness, and pain, and courage, the war never ends. Cadmus's only duty is to protect and fight, it seems, even though his homework has been piling up and he still hasn't decided which club he should join. In the last few months, Caelum segued into his life at Meadowview as peacefully as he could. His new high school was, unsurprisingly, as mundane and boring as he expected it to be, and he hated how he had to actually study now because his classes were harder.
The greatest thing to come to him in this time was his eternal rank. All of his hard work and fighting in the never-ending war presented him with the final badge of honor for his, and Chaos's, sacrifices: a pair of weird buttwings flanking his a** as he walked. It would've been cool if he could actually fly with them, but it seemed the cosmic weavers gave that honor only to royalty.
Which sucked, big time.
While his patrols had become easier, they were infuriatingly boring. When he was a super, he was fond of nudging a youma to annoyance and them putting up a fight against it. It helped let off some steam and better his moves in battle. Nowadays, it takes a simple blast of his cranberries or having them drown in his cranberry bog to off them, and simply not as satisfying as he wished it could be.
Which sucked, big time.
So on that boring weeknight, Cadmus decided to seek out some company. He felt the familiar blip of an Order energy signature near an arcade, and crouched down upon a roof to seek them out. Yet, his red eyes remain trained on nothing; where were they? The street's activity was scarce being so late at night, but the boy wasn't interested in wandering down there for fear of drawing attention to himself; those buttwings and all made him stick out like a sore thumb.
So he continued to look precariously, hoping to find the member of Order before he was forced to go wandering instead.

Babel would be in college, if she was someone else; but she'd never been, and didn't intend to start until she was exceedingly financially stable. At least, that's what she'd told anyone who asked; it sounded better than 'I have cripplingly-bad self esteem and can't foresee myself having a successful career in any fields unless you count a joke about majoring in Minecraft'. (She, personally, didn't count that.)
There hadn't been any youma around tonight, which was nice, in her opinion; it was a social enough area even at this time, and telling herself she'd look out for any evildoers kept her conscience happy enough to let her sit and stay. At least until the other signature came into 'view', and - over her, southwest-ish, a story up or so - she had an excuse to get out and about.
Babel was getting better at the climbing. There were bricks out of place on one corner of the arcade's outer walls, and she pulled herself up and over onto the roof with a huff, moving to a nearby building where she could see the other. "Hey there!"

Cadmus kept his eyes peeled, but when the eternal felt the energy signature on the move, he decided to let them come to him. Pushing himself up to standing, he trotted over to the edge of the building he once knelt upon, and felt a wishy-washy feeling overcome his being. Knight power signatures were unlike senshi ones to him; if his fellow senshi were akin to, say, a cool, crisp can of soda, knights were like lukewarm tap water. It wasn't that the eternal disliked knights, but they felt so different. Despite being Order, it felt as if they were on a side all on their own.
He rose a gloved hand to Babel when she called over to him, responding in the same, "Hey!" and jumping to the adjacent roof to meet up with her. As always, when he jumped, his hope for a clean landing ended with an awful tumble that brought the boy to his knee.
Even as an eternal, he never makes those landings.
Dusting at his pants, Cadmus approached Babel, and tried to think of a really cool greeting to coin his nonexistent status as a hero, but he settled on, "Hey, hi, name's Cadmus! How goes it?", dashing away an attempt to start.

Babel hid an impolite snicker behind her hand as she waited for Cadmus to pull himself to his feet; when he was done she clasped her hands behind her back, the picture of propriety. "Everything's good tonight, I'd say! Nice to meet you, Cadmus." She tipped her head in a respectful pseudo-bow, smiling.
"I'm Babel, just to get that out of the way, so we don't end up having an entire conversation where you never ask my name and then it gets incredibly awkward towards the end?"unohime sry for length, wanted to get some tags out before i leave for the day

"Y-yea, it's a"—Cadmus rubbed at his knee—"real pleasure, Babel." He gave a cheeky grin that dipped into a small laugh. "Well, good foresight! You'll be surprised how often that happens with me, ahaha..."
Now that the knight was within close proximity, the ooey-gooey feeling that overcame him from her energy signature seemed to dissipate slightly. It simply felt like "Order," though something odd bellied beneath it.
"I haven't met many knights, mostly just senshi and, well, Negas. But I think everyone meets a Nega, ahaha." The boy smoothed a hand through his hair. "So you're a... first stage knight? Whatever those are called. Your energy signature feels kinda weak. N-not to, like, insult you or anything. I'm not calling you weak, just calling it how I feel it. I never really noticed the differences until I became an eternal myself."

"Page, yes. It's fine! Seriously, it's fine." The smile she gave Cadmus was gentle, agreeable, unthreatening. "I've only met a couple of senshi, so it's not like I have too much of a knowledge base to rely on there - you're a good reference for the future." One of Babel's hands started absentmindedly threading fingers through her braid, not pulling it out of formation; the bracelet around that wrist glittered in the night lights.
"It's not like I do all that much, anyways, so I wouldn't be offended."

The fifteen year old withheld a desire to sigh. Honestly, he was glad Babel took it amicably; one never knew when they could cross a line by a simple matter-of-fact mention. She would go far, he hoped; as long as the war wouldn't claim her first.
"Oh, are you, like, new to everything?" he asked, lips drawing to a small O. It was a disservice to himself and other to jump to the conclusion everyone was thrown into the fray at the deep end, but he could impart info if it was required. "I'm not a total information bank when it comes to the war, but I can tell you the basics if you'd like!" He winced a bit and added, "Well, maybe some stuff passed the basics about, like, senshi and stuff, but nothing about knights. The only thing I know about you guys is you get some really cool weapons when you go up in rank. If you have anything you need to know, ask away! I'll try my best to give you a good answer."

Babel looked like she was about to say something about being 'new to everything', because she wasn't, not quite, she just didn't want to throw herself in at any level - she had yet to yield to the whispering in her mind, even, of I pledge my life and loyalty to Saturn, and to Babel. I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine. She didn't want to give her life to this. Treating it like fun and games was - she knew it couldn't last, but she wanted to enjoy it, wanted to make no moves that would take her too deep.
God, Cadmus looked so young. Had she looked that young?
"Just general backstory stuff would be fine to start off with, honestly...I'm assuming there's some big cosmic reason why we're all running around in sigils and fishnets and tights, but I don't know what it is."

Cadmus hummed out a note, giving Babel's statement some thought. "To be honest, I don't know much about the history of, like, everything," the teen replied. "I know some very, very basic stuff. People on both sides have been fighting for a really effing long time, like, thousands of years... To the point our souls literally reincarnated to keep fighting. At least, that's what most of the senshi are. Our past selves have been trying to kick down Chaos for so long, but hardly made a dent in their plans. Right now, I think we're trying to keep balance... Kinda difficult to put it that way, though, since most of the Negaverse want us dead."
"Everything was really different in the past-past; apparently, the senshi lived out on the planets, stars, and so on they're named after and protect. Other people lived on them, too, but now they're totally abandoned. It's kinda creepy. I don't know about the knights, but you guys pledge yourself to a planet or something, I guess you must've lived on those planets as well? Just a guess."
Cadmus sighed. "But that's about all I know. We've been fighting for a long time, been getting killed for a long time, and then reincarnated for a long time. It's the most I can tell you at this time."

She nodded along, taking the information down in her mind, ready to turn it around and think about it with more scrutiny at a later time. It was all a lot to think about, Babel found; and she had a feeling Cadmus might have been limited by his perspective, or his vocabulary, or his age. (She didn't actually have any offense to that, but it was something she'd noticed with teenagers, recently; even with maturity and war-hardiness, there was something age hadn't given them.)
"That makes sense, mostly. I've been..." Babel rolled her eyes. "Well. Avoiding some of it. I don't tend to trust thoughts in my head that aren't mine, because regardless of how magical it is or I am it seems like there'd be a high chance of freezing to death in the void of space - you know, normal space stuff."

"Oh?" Cadmus cocked his head to the right. He wasn't one to press for details, but he didn't do much to hide his curiosity either; was there a specific reason why she was avoiding it? Or was it just the uncertainty of, well, freezing into a magical popsicle while out in space?
He dashed away his wonder with a small shake of his head, and said, "I don't really know how it works but, like, you won't freeze to death. I've been to my homeworld plenty of times without a problem; it seems our magic has something to do with it. And the worlds themselves are habitable, just... no people on it. Like, for example, there's forests everywhere on my asteroid. Kinda hard to believe, but it's true! If you're ever curious, I can totally show you sometime."

"Consciously I know I won't freeze to death," Babel scolded - tsk, tsk - "but there's still something unpleasant about the idea of going to Saturn. I don't..." She shook her head, a little discombobulated, not quite able to put words to it. "I can't place it, but it just feels sort of foreboding; I know I'll have to visit sometime, of course, but only when I have to." The call hadn't intensified too much in her head, yet, still come and see, still my life and loyalty - Sunny didn't owe her loyalty to anyone or anything, not least of which was something unimaginable distances away.
