Evelyn Lionis════ Female // 21 ════ Holder of the Bronzewell Estates General of the Bellris troop Legitimate ruler of the Empire She was going to puke. everywhere. The smell of blood and the ring of steel and iron and the screaming, puke puke puke, that was what her brain was telling her to do, that was what her burning lungs and aching throat were telling her to do. It wasn't the smell of blood that was getting to her or the noise or the smell of s**t, she had gotten use to that the second day she had been fighting in her first actual battle. It had been nothing like training, or at least not as fierce, the people she had trained with hadn't been fighting for dear life with wide doe like eyes and bloodied faces that could have been an enemies or their own. No, she had never known such fear until the first battle they now referred to as Starfall. She hadn't been able to sleep on her own for weeks after that, she had had to have sleep aids several times to block out a screaming she could have sworn she still heard at times. The desire to puke came back as her sword easily went though the eye slits of a man just a few inches taller then she. She herself had to close her own eyes as she pulled the sword out of his face and continued on, ducking down and tripping another that had come toward her as she raised her right hand sword only to feel her wrist twist in pain and force her hand open in order to compensate, she improvised and used her left handed sword for a quick stab to the throat as she looked over to see what had hit her right sword. It was a particularly large man well over a foot taller that was fighting with a great sword, friendly, by the look of his armor, but far to close for comfort. Not everyone was able to be completely aware of their surroundings, even she wasn't able to all the time and so she picked her sword back up and continued fighting, ignoring the pain that blossomed though out her body. Hysteria Izadora Bellris Hair Plait braidClothing: ArmorMood: Edgy Hysteria arrived on the battlefield and had started her slaughter while her bleeding feet bled though the bandages. She wore armor that hadn't been worn in years, their was no need as this body hadn't needed to see battle and on top of that she wasn't that good of a fighter- never had been and perhaps never will. She slowly made her way into the thick of the battle, it took her far longer then most to cut her way in, but she was determine to fight her way up into the castle and kill the emperor. She didn't need to actually fight, she probably could have rode up to the castle and requested an audience and then ripped his throat out but that wouldn't do, she knew she was angry and on edge, it was why she was fighting, she needed to blow off some steam before she did something stupid.

Evelyn Lionis════ Female // 22 ════ Holder of the Bronzewell Estates General of the Bellris troop Legitimate ruler of the Empire Evelyn was dressed in black as she normally was, not a skirt this time but still rather revealing as the black leather seemed to cling to her body, it had to so she could put her armor on at a moments notice. The sound of the battle could still be heard ranging around them and she heaved a sigh as she hefted a jug of water and brought it into her tent, she was lucky to have her soldiers free of the typhoid she had heard was ravaging the Solidon troops. Evelyn walked into the tent and looked over to a guard "If I have any visitors today just send them in" she whispered "what would they look like ma'am?" the guard asked and Evelyn shrugged "White hair, pasty, lordly, maybe a little 'I'm better then you' air around them." she grinned, the last part was a joke but still. When the guard nodded Evelyn walked into her tent and pulled a strap holding back the flaps, letting them close as she put the jug of water down and went over to her bed, a simple wooden cot with several blankets piled upon it. She pulled the blankets off and put a rag into the jug of water before shoving the blankets out of the tent an piling up some new ones next to the bed. She then took the rage from the jug and rung out the water before she started washing the fear from the wood, she didn't want to go back to sleep knowing that she had had such nightmares last night, she worried that if she didn't was the bed they might taint her next sleep. OOC: sorry for the double quote, I accidently posted in the solidon encampment and not here. ════ Love // Honor // Justice // Revenge I will see the ones that I love smile down upon me But I will not stain my honor with the blood of their killers For Justice will make it so your enemies fall from up high And Revenge will only make you the murder that stood behind them.

Ali Ababva, Lord Xerseis Gone's the wisdom Of a thousand years A world in fire and chains and fear
Concerned as he was with current news, the dragon who was mildly superstitious when it came to diseases, took particular caution by adding garlic to his diet and also flying in with a chain of garlic cloves around his neck. He was well-dressed as anyone could expect of a lord who was determined not to be bothered by the weather.
He landed amongst the troops and the crystalline wings slowly folded to his back as he took a gander about the troops. They eyed him with suspicion, but otherwise didn't seem to worry greatly about his presence. Probably because he didn't come flying in and spitting fire as others....
Ah, no. Nevermind. Most of the fighting that was going on were done on two legs and involved swords and spears.
Barbarians.
Xerseis found his way to a guard and after inquiring further, was led to the tent in question. Along the way, he shed his scales and he walked as a man. Yes, he still wore the clove garlic around his neck, but he had every good reason to.
At the tent, the guard announced his presence thusly. "Pasty white haired lord to see you, ma'am."
Xerseis studied this and narrowed his eyes. Was that how he was described? "I remember giving you my name."
"You did, Lord Xerseis, but she knew you were coming."
The dragon lord was not terribly amused by this but the guard excused himself as though he was much too tired to care. The dragon rolled his eyes. Ruffians...

Evelyn Lionis════ Female // 22 ════ Holder of the Bronzewell Estates General of the Bellris troop Legitimate ruler of the Empire Evelyn was scrubbing as hard as she could, causing dark fiber roles to come off of the wooden cot when she heard an announcement, oh. oh! Evelyn's face turned beat red when she heard that she had a visitor, she hadn't expected that he would come so soon. "one moment!" she yelled out as she stood up, dusting her pants of invisible dust and putting the rag back into the jug of water. Rustling would be heard as she threw the new blankets on the bed in order to cover the unsightliness of the ugly cot and she straightened them as best she could. She went over to a small copper circle that doubled as a mirror and ran her wet fingers though her hair in order to pull down any stragglers before she ran to the front of her tent, stopping just before she left to take a deep breath and slowly let it out. Evelyn pulled back a tent flap and smiled a little cattishly at the count "Sir Lord" Evelyn bowed her head and bent her knees slightly in a small mock curtsy "would you like to come in?" she asked, holding the tent flap open for him.

There was a great deal of bustling activity, and as it turned out, Xerseis knew the sound of surprise and a hint of panic in someone's voice. He smirked, as he found this somewhat amusing, and he sniffed casually at the garland around his neck. (It smelled a little bit better than a camp full of soldiers.)
He waited, of course, as a gentleman should, before the tent door was thrown back and she smiled up at him. There was enough difference in their height for even this to be amusing to him. He was greeted, and he bowed slightly to her in return.
"I believe I would."
He lifted a hand to hold back the flap so he could enter, though this was more on ceremony, as it seemed that she was already holding it open for him. A glance told him that this was where she spent some of her time, but it was a far cry from any place that she should have been. On the other hand, their distant ancestors were long suited to combat, and as long as that was true, many among their kin would find themselves in similar places and circumstances. After all, kingdoms were not built on the prim and polish of art, but within the lines cast in blood and earned in hard battle.
Something within him still strongly challenged the idea of whether any of her status belonged here. He doubted she wanted to hear anything of this sort, so for now, he would entertain the thought of letting her lead the discussion.
"Of all the times to receive a letter from you, I was surprised to find it an invitation."

Evelyn Lionis════ Female // 22 ════ Holder of the Bronzewell Estates General of the Bellris troop Legitimate ruler of the Empire "Well, I'm glad you accepted my invitation. I've been in no short of visitors lately but so few when it comes to people I actually desire to hold a conversation with let alone those that can actually offer sound words instead of the burbling rash of smothering coos or sword drawing insults that normally comes out of peoples mouths" Evelyn said while she turned around and let the tent flap close behind her for some privacy, as the flap closed the smell of garlic instantly assaulted her nose- not that that was a bad thing as it was a rather refreshing smell compared to the stench of blood and sweat. The tent was rather large and not normally something you would see a low born tavern wench in unless they were in some way affiliated with the occupant but the way Evelyn moved it was almost like she owned the place (Which well, she did) she moved the jar off the dark wooden table in the center of the tent and put it on the floor off to the side and picked up two wooden mugs and set them down with a dull thud "I have much to thank you for after all, your words spurred me to move much faster and made me realize a few things that I hadn't exactly been wanting to think about" she said as she went to a very small thin table and took up a pitcher and poured some red wine that smelt almost sickeningly like honey and cinnamon into both wooden mugs "drink" she said in a offhandedly and clearly unconsciously bossy tone almost like a over worked baker, pushing the second mug over to the edge of the table before nodding to a seat that he could take if he so desired before she sat down upon her bed, her weight causing it to creek slightly. Evelyn took a long drink of her honey spiced wine and looked up at the ceiling of her tent as she brought the mug away from her lips with a sigh, the red of the wine making the red of her lips stand out more as if the skin had soaked up the color. She licked her lips and thus removed most of the color but left some of the stain "you once said that if you were the Emperor you would find a way to keep in contact with each of the nobles in order to learn the mind of the people." she said, not quoting him exactly "how would you, a man of noble birth, want to be contacted? How would you like that contact to be kept? Whom would you trust to be a...ah, as a go between? How would you stop people from acting independently and how would you punish them if they did?" Evelyn asked as she took another drink of her wine, eyeing him from around the rim.

Xerseis withheld judgement of his observations for now. He lowered himself to the table and sat. It may have been a large tent, yes, but he saw armor off to the side, he saw dirt still on the floor, and he was not ignorant of the smell of old blood that was still outside. They weren't quite close enough to festering wounds to enjoy that aroma from the tent of the wounded, but even so, it was a far cry from civility. What the tent's size easily betrayed, of course, was an official's status.
It was more than enough proof for him.
He was a little surprised by her words, at first. He was naturally pleased that she was grateful for his presence, if but for conversation. He was more surprised, however, that his words had that great an effect on her. She seemed more self-determined when they last spoke and he doubted that what he had to say would have changed such a mind.
She poured them a drink and handed him his wooden mug. He took hold of it and peered into the vessel. Ah... perhaps this was how she was tolerating the chaos, pain, blood.... and the smell.
He lifted the mug to his face and took a tentative taste. It was a far cry from what he was used to from his distillery, but it would do. The honey and cinnamon did little to hide the strong acidity of this wine. It seemed very freshly-pressed and hurriedly aged.
Then, their conversation returned to business as the lady made herself comfortable upon the bed. This was clearly her space. She seemed remarkably calm and trusting of his presence. He marveled at this.
"As a noble, my common correspondence is through the post, or through letters delivered by the messengers I trust. If it is of great importance, I will send a knight in my employ. If it is more urgent than I can trust even to a knight, I might send my commander, or merely request an audience." He swirled the contents of his mug before daring another taste. He let that drift across his tongue as he pondered the next part of her queries. "For any go-between, as you say, I would trust any of my knights... but this is because I know them well and some of them raised me. As for stopping some from acting independently.... many can be persuaded to keep their loyalty with protection for their families. Understanding the threat of banishment and clipped wings also is a strong motivator to remain loyal."
The dragon's eyes seemed to gleam gently in the tent as he glanced over to her. His smile suggested some amusement in the thought. "Of course, most of this depends on whether independence means a reaction to treason. There is a difference, of course, in disobedience of existing laws and in selfish pursuit of one's own glory."

Evelyn Lionis════ Female // 22 ════ Holder of the Bronzewell Estates General of the Bellris troop Legitimate ruler of the Empire Evelyn had long taken the mug away from her lips again as she listened to the Count speak, she didn't like to drink as she had to bring words into her mind it made things muddled and she wasn't a fan of having to sift though the sound of the water in her ears and the actual words that had been spoken "But that is you when you are in correspondence. Letters and Knights. Going yourself or say the Emperor showing up at your door would be a bit to personal or intimidating wouldn't it" she said, blowing some air between her lips as she let out a long deep sigh "I do not think an Emperor should be constantly glued to a chair. I think the Emperor should be in direct contact with each leader directly in order to get first hand information" she shrugged as she brought the mug back up "or second hand if you consider an ambassador to be as such" she said as she drained her mug. Three heavy drinks, that all it took it seemed. Putting her empty mug on the ground and scooting it just a few inches under the edge of her bed she leaned back onto the palms of her hands "I can see protection for peoples families but that should be a given, not something that you say that you are going to do, plus on top of that if you have the power should you not be able to protect them on your own?" she asked, a black eyebrow quirking up as she raised it "And clipped wings sounds a bit harsh...but who am I to judge" Evelyn scoffed slightly "Bellris has a banishment policy for those that commit treason that goes along the lines of killing them, stripping them of all belongings, and essentially black listing their name for all time" She then lowered her eyelids once more, the catty look once again returning "So lord dragon. I believe last time we spoke I asked hypothetically what you would do as Emperor." she smiled, her fingers tapping on the blankets she had put down on her bed "If you where the one sitting on that throne right now, watching as one Republic, one Kingdom, and a Princess where bearing down upon you... what would you do to win?" she asked him. ════ Love // Honor // Justice // Revenge I will see the ones that I love smile down upon me But I will not stain my honor with the blood of their killers For Justice will make it so your enemies fall from up high And Revenge will only make you the murder that stood behind them.

Xerseis drank slowly and carefully, deliberately avoiding chugging the beverage so that he wouldn't have an issue with hearing. She objected on a few points, but the dragon let the opinion stand. She asked him for his thoughts, and he offered them. He did say he would request an audience, and not specifically just show up unannounced. There were other things a person in power should concern themselves with, and not the least of which was knowledge of who their enemies were.
As for punishment and ensuring loyalty, again, she had asked. She had to know that this dragon was from warring Phoebos. Fear was as useful a tool as love for ensuring loyalty and obedience. The punishments were in place to do what positive rewards could not. The fear of war only was useful if your enemy wished to avoid fighting you. Besides... clipping wings was not the worst punishment he could think of, but it did prevent outcasts from returning to their home country easily. It was its own demeaning brand to be like the humans, unable to fly, but still hold onto their scales or feathers. If she thought that alone was harsh.... ah.... poor naive dragoness.
However, she turned to an interesting hypothetical. The crystal dragon smirked and he lowered the mug, half empty, to the table for a moment. He leaned back.
"If I were in the emperor's seat.... I would have known that once you steal something, you spend your whole life fighting to keep it." He chuckled and shook his head. The old fool forgot that he had terrible opposition the moment he incited that rebellion within Lionis. He earned no friends and civilians that had no reason to trust you eventually found their fear warped into madness or hatred. "I would rally whatever allies I have left to my defense. I would have to look around every corner for the next traitor. I would rage more violently, I would demand more from my troops, I would make more risky choices in battle, and I would raid every possible advantage, and conscript captured troops to my side with the promise of reward. However, most importantly, I never need to let my specific enemy know that I fear them."
The dragon picked up his mug again. "Bear in mind, of course, that I am not the emperor, and I am not as anxious as he must be."

Evelyn Lionis════ Female // 22 ════ Holder of the Bronzewell Estates General of the Bellris troop Legitimate ruler of the Empire "correct, you're not the Emperor but you are also not dumb" she said with a large grinning smile, her eyes caught on his "I can not take on others mindsets I only have my own and I tend to keep it that way" she said as she slowly leaned forward "but you." her eyes seemed to sparkle as she brought her hands forward and leaned her chin into the palm of her hand "I feel like you can take on whatever mind you want and then some." she said "because I have not a single doubt in mind that what you said is what he would do exactly" her tongue darted out of her mouth as she licked up some of the wine that had been upon her bottom lip "If I was emperor I wouldn't have just married one daughter off. I would have married them all off. The most prone to war I would have given to the King of Phobos, the shiniest to Zalto, the prettiest to Bellris, and whomever was left in an attempt to gather support in Ethe. By doing so he would gain allegiance but also keep all the power of the Empire to himself since it would have passed to one of his sons, but because he's only managed to marry off one daughter he has only one possible way to run"Evelyn's eyes flashed slightly Zaaaah-hal-to" she over emphasized the name. She seemed to forget about her guest for the briefest of moments as she whistled loudly between her teeth and the tent flap opened and the guard outside bowed his head "Go tell Osta to lead a small amount of soldiers toward the Zalto-Lionis border, have them looking at the skies and for any horses fleeing west with a man in his late forties. Tell him to do so immediately" she said and then her eyes snapped back to the white haired male in front of her as she stood "The Emperor is quite possibly anxious right now, I can see him fleeing to his daughter in the west since the one he had in the south is dead" she bent over and grabbed the mug under her bed and brought it to the table where she refilled it "If he can rally forces from the golden city he could prove to be quite the pain in the a**" Evelyn pulled the chair across from him out and sat down once more "now, i've been taking about war for almost a year. A change of pace for the time being would be lovely" she said "do you remember what my letter said about cookies?" she asked as she raised the mug to her lips once more. ════ Love // Honor // Justice // Revenge I will see the ones that I love smile down upon me But I will not stain my honor with the blood of their killers For Justice will make it so your enemies fall from up high And Revenge will only make you the murder that stood behind them.

The lord was flattered and mildly amused by her analysis of his ability. She thought he was merely a keen mind who was able to understand others that he knew of. While this was among his talents, he contented himself with the thought that not all of his capacity was yet revealed. It was for the best. He wasn't entirely sure if it was the drink that influenced the way she looked at him or if she was brooding the next step of her conquest. For the sake of his pride, he defaulted to the latter option.
After all, he had been described as pasty.
It was still strange to hear that the emperor was only in his late forties... with all the hundreds he had clutched in his time. b*****d-sire.
The crystal dragon lifted the drink to his face as she talked to one of her underlings. When she was finished with her instructions, she had refilled her own mug once again. She must have been fond of the drink.
Ah... the cookie. The dragon reflected back on the reference she made. "You mentioned in your letter that if I knew your name, that you would give one to me. Though, considering the state of this battlefield, I'm not entirely certain I can trust such a cookie."
The dragon smirked and leveled his eyes at the dark scaled one across from him. "I would have to see it, first."

Ali Ababva, Lord Xerseis Gone's the wisdom Of a thousand years A world in fire and chains and fear
Then he was correct, at the end of the day. The battlefield was no place for pastries, biscuits, or cookies. Sweets, in general, were lost here. This beverage they were drinking was ample proof of that. However, she was toying with him, and so he would not reinforce his evidence too much here. Besides, she was correct also. It was curious that she offered that in her letter if she had asked him to come all the way out here and promised.
He could only conclude that this was merely another method of teasing him. She joked such with her tone, but yet there was an ease to her joking that suggested she was not disinclined to the idea of being such. No, that she offered such a possibility at all when he did not bring forth the idea inherently meant that she had been thinking about it, even subconsciously.
His smile was somewhere between contemplative and keenly alert as he considered this. Perhaps he could follow the game a little while longer. He lowered his mug to the table and braced his elbows upon it.
"Those are rather high stakes, wouldn't you say? Testing my memory for not something as replaceable as a cookie, but to be in the prestigious position of being your lover?"
The male's smile shifted into a calculating smirk and his eyes flashed in what light could be found in that tent. One could feel that he didn't need that light. "Good lady, are you certain that is a bet you wish to suggest?"
