How dare they.

Coming back from a semi-successful hunt to his makeshift den being utterly taken over and destroyed by a family of raccoons was infuriating enough. But what made it even worse was, after they had been dispatched, they could not be eaten. Their stench made it clear that they carried some disease, and he had to leave the doe he had taken down behind to go and wash his maw and paws.

Strong as he was, he was well aware of how easily even the strongest wolf could be taken down by illness, and when the nearest stream was spotted, he took care to thoroughly wash not only his fur and mouth, but his armor pieces, as well. Any blood from the invading raccoons was rinsed off, and once he had re-armored himself, he stood still. The den behind him had been temporary, yes, as he still had a ways to go to find the perfect territory. It still infuriated him to the point where his hackles raised and his fangs were bared in a snarl to the emptiness of the mountain's range. The audacity of such filthy creatures to think they could get away with it.

So lost was he in his thoughts, he completely forgot about his meal. And completely forgot about the fact that he was, in no way, alone here.

Citrus was, for lack of better terms, an idiot. Where one wolf might see a trap, he always seemed to be lucky enough to step in just the right spot to avoid getting hurt and was never the more wary after one missed him by an inch.

Today would definitely test his luck, as he would be in the area when the scent of fresh kill would hit him like a full-grown stag to a hungry stomach, which he was secretly praying it would be when he started drooling in an instant.

Following his nose like a fish to water, he stumbled upon the doe and, without a doubt in his mind, took it upon himself to start gnawing at her shoulder. Odd as he was, Citrus never found himself drawn to the meatier parts of a preybeast,
instead going for the tougher meats, which to him were all the more filling since you had to work extra-hard to chew them.

The thought never crossed his mind that this might be someone else's meal,
and they would be anything but pleased he took it upon himself to take a nibble at it while their back was turned.

With his body as clean as he could get it, and decently satisfied that he wouldn't wake the next morning about to die, Kor'kron finally turned and headed back to his destroyed resting place. His kill was waiting for him, and if he was careful with the bodies, he could clean out the den and save it for a few more day. The bodies could be set out for the carrion birds, and the den itself could at least be dug out to get rid of the visceral matter from the corpses he'd flung around.

Of course, it brought up the question of how many other animals out and about had the stench. There was a chance that he'd caught the only healthy doe, and he...

...Was going to absolutely murder the s**t out of the wolf he found gnawing on his hard-earned kill.

Maw contorting into an expression of absolute fury and rage, hackles once again bristling and eyes flashing, he let out a sound that was closer to a roar than any kind of bark. It was the only warning he gave. It would be the distance he would have to cover to get to the thief that would save their life at this point.

He had just managed to tear a large enough piece enough to satisfy his chewing urge when he heard it.

A very ferocious warning.

A normal wolf might, in that moment, run in terror.
Instead, Citrus looked at the minor damage he'd done to the carcass and whined. He should've asked first, he was definitely taking someone else's food.

He looked around, and an idea was formed. He took off, leaving behind the chunk he'd torn off in hopes it would somewhat sedate the wolf's anger, though he was not far enough away for escape to be an option even if it were, and he began his search, eyes focused on any tiny movement as he wandered further and further from his guilty dinings.

He had a rather ingenious plan, or so he thought. He only hoped he was far enough away for the wolf to not want to give chase right away, or else how would he say he was properly sorry?
