Spring was on the rise as birds chirped, flowers reaching affectionately to the sun. The desert had been warm as the cooler breezes shifted the sands like spirits invisible to the surroundings. A very hot summer would befall those that dwelled within the endless sands. Yet, one particular foal was not satisfied to rest within the sanctuary he called home. His spirit was restless as he wanted to explore out of parental views. He wasn't one to walk a straight line, he found amusing aspects that seemed devious at times. This individual also thrived in a chaotic nature while his parents and lesser-minded brothers did as they were told. The desert was comforting, yet today he wanted to explore the forest, maybe further. Being a sibling of four brothers, he tended to be one of the flock to his parents. Yet, his appearance and mannerisms were more "wolf" in comparison. As he snuck out toward the forest's edge he realized his presence was joined by three more. Snorting he turned his head to gaze upon his other siblings, one more of a half-sibling to the royal ones. Seeing them following after him like a babysitter with their charge was a pain.

The taller one spoke, "Where are you going?" They weren't amused that the black sheep was sneaking out again. "Your parents will be worried if you stray".

The darker colt snorted, his hoof digging in the sand, "I want to explore as our father does".

Then snow began falling, quickly as it built up upon the sand in a fervid state.

The darker colt's brother with the emerald wings blinked, "Snow? We don't get snow here?"

The taller sibling blinked, "Apparently, we do. We need to return to the Oasis Cave. Our... your parents will be worried".

The darker colt scoffed, "It's a little bit of snow. I can still do what I want".

The taller sibling known as Neith moved swiftly to block their brother's escape, "No. we must return. You need to listen to your elder".

The darker cot smirked, his odd teeth exposed, "Do not tell me what to do, You are not pure blood like my brothers. You are a carpet in sheep's clothing. I am a wolf".

As the two argued, the youngest of the brothers tinted in green grew nervous, "Neith. Senusret. We need to go back. It's getting cold".

Neith paused their argument, "Amenhotep is correct. It's coming down now".

Neith looked around as they were trapped in a blizzard, "Amenhotep! Senusret! Now, we need to return before the snow devours our path!"

Senusret felt the chill of death nipping on his neck, Groaning, he walked toward his older half-sibling with irritation. As Neith's wings curled around them, Senusret moved in for warmth. He hated being obedient as Neith fought for visage toward their home. The air was frigid now causing them to walk like a three-headed creature seeking solace from the cold. The wind pushed through fiercely as snow pelted the colts and Neith with tenacity. It became so cold the siblings had to stop walking, huddling closer for body heat.

Neith groaned not knowing her way with the winds as they whipped through the desert area. The younger stallion just did his best to protect the princes. Moving forward step by step, the blustering winds were harsh, slicing the colts' vulnerable legs.

Amenhotep shivered, "Are we almost there? I'm so cold. My wings are frozen".

Senusret refused to cry like his brother, he could stand the cold like ignoring an enemy. He silently, hoped his coat would warm up away from this freak storm.

Neith groaned feeling like her hooves would shatter if they took another step, "I'm trying. But the snow... I can't see anything but white" Neith was afraid they might not make it the more they walked endlessly within this white canvas of frozen revenge. When would this mess stop Neith wondered? Pushing forward Neith saw something that could help them. In the blinding storm, they all headed toward something that resembled a cave. Neith tried moving forward but their legs buckled causing the colts to pull down with him. Both Amenhotep and Senusret huddled as close as they could to their older sibling. As the snow piled on top of them. It seemed warmer here beneath the frozen powder.

It seemed endless as the blackened canvas streaked with light over and over again. Eyes widening, a pup growing into her adult fur marveled at the sight granted to her. She wasn't sure how long her neck had been bent upwards but the feeling was endless, eternal in a way. Never had she or anyone in her family witnessed such majesty that exposed itself like a well-written dream. Perhaps, she never blinked, intaking such beauty leaving her to wonder what was happening. Her heart was ready to jump out of her chest!. Not to mention her little nub of a tail was swinging wildly in a circle by all the excitement.

Then as the light had shown its mesmerizing fascination it ceased leaving the sky once again a diluted canvas in black. Yet before all turned to stillness something made a strange "thump" in the distance leaving this growing pup to know it wasn't a dream that had captured her attention. Ears scanned the area for any sound that may have escaped yet nothing but complete silence.

Hidden Shadow Badger blinked realizing her newly grown feet were moving without her knowledge still keeping a vigil of the location streaked of the streaked light where they once spiraled from the sky. Though the forest consumed the path her insticts told her where to go. Without even a goodbye to her family, she headed off blindly after this phenomenon, curiosity growing within where they had landed. No bush or otherwise fallen log could deter her from seeking the truth as she weaved through the darkened forest toward something incredible, or at least she hoped it was. As she neared the place where the light had landed something felt foreign to her heightened senses. Paws stepping more slowly now, her ears swiveled then dropped feeling something other-worldly. Standing before the crater the impact left her bewildered as her hanches pulled up beneath her. What was this feeling she was experiencing leaving a once vibrant pup bewildered by the sheer feeling that crept through her like a mourning Den mother? Leaving a small whimper she noted the hole in the ground contained something transfixing, yet the feeling she experienced was not her own. Once again something was resonating within leaving her feeling befuddled. Confusion settled within causing her to simply sit there whimpering as her nose twitched uncontrollably.

Hidden Shadow Badger's mind was full of questions yet she couldn't answer them no matter how hard she tried. It was an anomaly sent from the sky which not even she could truly even think deeply about what had just happened.

Once again it was unknown how long she sat there in a daze trying to answer questions without unyielding silence. Even the rustle of another creature nearby could pry her away from the truth. This phenomenon of sorrow grew from something she couldn't even fathom or try to understand.

Then, that heaviness lifted like a light piece of cloth leaving her bewildered as her eyes still looked downward at that solemn creation that had called her so intensely. Shaking her head to rid herself of that feeling once more she grabbed the stone in her teeth to take back home. Whatever had called her here had a purpose. That which, she would help fulfill. Somehow.

A single snowflake shimmered, sliding downward, lying gracefully on the chilled ground.

Definitely agreeable, the first sign of winter as she danced inward late this year. Soon, one followed another till the sky was but a blessing of tiny crystals thickening upon the ground. This season was cherished by some, hated by others. But, whatever the reason, winter took her role in freezing the kawani lands.

A solitary mare, glistening of blue, stood upon the hillside seeking answers that were nowhere or found. This spirit seemed translucent to the world around her as the wind playfully tousled her mane with a teasing gesture. Silken as the snow, her white tresses glided over the ground as hooves took motion, moving her further from the hillside. The snowflakes moved downward, seeking refuge from the incoming followers from behind. The snow began moving faster till the sky was white as the ground. Ears swiveling forward, the mare moved quickly toward her kawani maiden's campsite. Surveying the area, she noted the thicker furs; hides pulled over the enclosure smoke danced outward from the top in a mesmerizing dance. It seemed Tirranna hurridly prepared for this season beforehand as the snow blanketed upon the icy's mare's sleek back. This gesture pleased the cerulean mare in the knowledge her friend would brave the incoming storm unharmed or well prepared anyway.

Nodding, she walked onward; the snow joined now with a bitter coldness that nipped at her shoulders fervently. Hooves carried her away from the campsite, heading outward into the thickness of the fir trees leaving the blistery winds howling with a strange whistle. These trees were the herd's sanctuary should any disaster threaten the area growing thick and endless. Here, Celendria knew her family and herd were safe from the storm.

The mare sighed, knowing this storm would be more brutal than most.

A soft whimper joined her side as a smaller gray wolf shook off the snow from her coat. A small rabbit dripping with crimson warmth was clenched in her muzzle as its blood seeped into the dry ground. The mare nodded to her companion before she spoke, "I wonder if others can sense the call of the mountain as I do. We may have to travel again, Amadahy. Back to the bitter cold I was born within".

Amadahy finished her rabbit and whimpered, a tongue sliding over her muzzle to clean away the blood. With a sneeze, her paw raised to brush her nose before looking upward to her taller companion. A low growl followed by a whimper once more.

The iced mare smiled as the snow continued, leaving her with her contemplation.

As the night carried on, her thoughts drew to the mountains. Yes, she'd travel there once her herd was safe, but for now, her dreams would carry her on silken wings.

As Celendria's eyes reopened, her vision cleared to see a filly staring upwards at her in curiosity. For a moment, she thought winter winds had caused sickness. Yet, here was a foal bright as summer foliage standing in front of her. Amadahy was nowhere to be found, most likely seeking a meal the rabbit couldn't fully sate the night before. Ears flicking forward, she focused on the curious child, "Are you lost, little one?" she queried with a soft, reassuring tone.

The foal blinked with bright blue eyes, her head shaking back and forth, "Nope. Mama told me to find Celendria... here".

"Well, you found me. What do you need, Lil one?"

"I'm Starlight Mint. My mama is Melody", she laughed.

"Ah yes, I remember your mother," Celendria spoke with softness in her eyes.

Starlight beamed at the older elder, tilting her head, "Mama told me you could tell me what winter is"!

Celendria, wise in her years, laughed aloud, "It's all around you when you step outside, Starlight." Momentarily, she finally remembered her refuge from the storm, and instinct would whisper to check on Tiranna once the campsite was in view. Perhaps Melody and starlight took refuge from the storm too.

Starlight Mint looked perplexed, "Huh?" she spoke, seeking clarity in the elder's words.

Celendia tossed her head, mane cascading around her like a silken blanket of snow, "Come, I'll show you..."

Her slender legs moved before her, crystalline hooves pressing deep in the ground. Starlight could only resonate in the elder's shadow for a moment, feeling her form glisten. Her tiny hooves followed as they sunk into the ground filling a small space of Celendria's prints. She was massive to the growing foal born of pink, blues, and green. Yet, to the foal's realization, she was but a graceful angel whose voice lingered like a soft wind. Noticing she was left behind in the shadows of the fir trees, her tiny hooves moved quickly to find the elder who disappeared into the white blanket. Celendria stood like a motherly figure awaiting her charge.

Once she was by the elder's side, her voice piqued once more, "This is winter?"

"Yes," the mare spoke, her eyes closing as the wind blew loose snowflakes from the trees. The storm had been unruly, ripping through trees now leaning downwards from the weight of the snow. The storm arrived quite fast, bringing much damage but, she didn't want to spook the curious foal with reality. Not only had snow arrived, but there was also a possible mix of ice. Footing could be hazardous to a young foal learning about winter.

The filly craned her neck downwards, lipping at some snow as it melted on her tongue. It was cold at first but warmed quickly like water. Quickly, she repeated the same motion, a giggle escaping from the pure joy it brought.

Celendria chuckled, watching Starlight play with the snow. Being a youth new to the season was a sight to behold.

The filly heard the wise mare's laughter looked out over the white blanket, eyes glimmering like crystals, "Where does Winter come from?" she asked, looking around her, then to Celendria.

The ice mare smiled, "Each season has its dance as you will grow into in years to come. Spring, is the season that blesses us with flowers and the rebirth of our trees. Summer brings us hotter days and rain. Fall brings colorful leaves and chiller winds..." she paused, looking upwards toward the taller Mountains. Winter is the final dance from the higher Mountains where I was born. But, even in this amazing sight, there will always be a danger."

The filly tilted her head, "Snow is Winter??"

Celendria laughed, "Yes, snow is a big part of winter, as you can see."

Starlight giggled, hooves carrying her in a circle around the elder. Little by little kicked up her hooves, jumping playfully in the snow. She was having so much fun she didn't see the trail leading downward toward the campsite. Too enraptured in her happiness, she didn't see concealed ice just before her. Without warning, her hooves flailed uncontrollably as a scream uttered from her tiny lungs tumbling downward. Her petite form was pulled by gravity, trying to keep balance, legs splaying outward.

Celendria was deep in thought till she heard Starlight's cry. Hooves striking the ground, she moved like the winter storm and followed the foal downward towards Tirranna's campsite. Pulling her slender head outward, she propelled herself faster in pursuit of the flailing filly. Leaping over a downed tree, she recovered timed as her solid back legs carried her to connect with Startlight's descent. Using her own body, Celendria shielded the bewildered filly from colliding into an unforgiving damaged tree or, worse, the frozen lake.

Starlight, dizzy with shock, looked upward at Celendria, whose breath snaked outward in bursts of translucent air. Lungs heaving her legs stood strong protecting Melody's daughter from uncertainty.

Celendria's breath carried outward in the frigid air, in tendrils of mist bearing upward seeking solace from the cold. She had been an old mare for years deep in her thoughts, yet she moved like woven silk at a moment's notice to protect her herd from inevitable demise. It seemed like days that her posture was similar to a solid rock before her voice resonated warmth, "Are you alright, Starlight. Are you injured?"

Her eyes glistened with life as worriment filled them. Finally awakening out of a dream, she noted the likeness of Melody and Cotton Candy as the youngling shimmered brightly within the snow. It was just a glimpse, but her tiny horn was now visible as the filly sat panting in the deeper snow. For a moment, Celendria feared Starlight losing her breath or something worse. Moving in closer, she nickered to the filly like most motherly mares do to get her attention.

Starlight was indeed spooked; her hooves had betrayed her for a short moment before she realized that was the fastest she had ever traveled in her short life. Still a bit dizzy, she blinked and stood up, her legs shaking. Finally, she took a few steps with a flick of her tail, pausing in thought as most foals do, "That was fun! Can we do it again?"

Celendria blinked in shock, worried that Starlight might have been badly injured. Yet here, she exhibited the classic foal-like nature of something mindblowing that jumpstarted her heart. Once her breath returned to usual deep relief, she laughed aloud, unlike her peaceful nature. Regardless of being scared silly, most foals thrive with dangerous peril in a face unknown.

"Perhaps, but let's make sure I know about this little trial before you take a plunge into a frozen lake, as I've mentioned before. Winter is beautiful, but it can be scary as well."

Celendria's eyes still showed concern but lifted her spirit to see such youth endure as she was. She would grow up fearless like her mother yet sweet as poetry like her father. Pondering momentarily, she finally remembered something, "Starlight... Where are your parents?"

Starlight moved with a little more determination from her still shaky legs. Flicking her tail, she pranced a little, though careful of more ice and thick snow. Then, she looked toward the elder and laughed, "Mama is waiting for me with Tiranna. See? She's down there with the two-legged girl."

Celendria laughed in a soft recognizable gesture, "Of course she is." No foal this young would be too far from her mother, "Come then... she must be worried you were out in the snow so long". Celendria also breathed her maiden was safe from the jaws of uncertainty.

Starlight shook her head, "Nope. She told me to find you because you would keep me safe while she went looking for things.".

Celendria mused over the brightness of this filly and her curiosity, "I see... Other than that, did I answer your question about winter?"

Starlight pulled her head high as she smiled much like her mother, "Yep! Thank you! Now I can tell mama about winter!"

Celendria looked downward, in awe of such a spirited child, "Then I am pleased." she spoke as her velvety muzzle nudged the filly's face. "Come, I'll walk you halfway to your mother so you can tell her all about winter. But, please watch your step, or you might be sliding without me being there to catch you."

Starlight beamed, "Yay. Thank you, Celendria"! Then she nodded quieter, "It was fun, but yeah, I'll be careful. The snow is so tall closer we get."

As both elder and foal traveled further down the hill, Celendria noticed the familiar pink mare who had visited this area many seasons awaiting their return. Starlight was indeed a fighter, one who would reach for the stars. Beside her stood the familiar image of a Kawani maiden that she befriended moons ago. Soon she would leave this area to return to the Mountains once more. If only to seek something, which beckoned her like a babbling stream. Her daughter Cerylia would watch over the herd in her absence. The gentle elder paused, letting Starlight reunite with her mother. With a special nod to mother and daughter, she turned her head, resonating with the mountains again. Something indeed called outward seeking her attention.

As the chatter of a filly's newfound knowledge unraveled in the elder's ears from a distance, a small gray wolf joined her side, "It's time... Lil one. I must answer my calling".

The small gray wolf whimpered with a tilt of her head, "Yes," she seemed to growl.

Celendria turned once more, nodding to the pair and Tiranna, then walked upwards towards the hill; her contemplations spoke clearly. Today had undoubtedly been an awakening of spirit within the ancient elder of ice. Even if moons and suns passed over her for years, she felt a kindling spirit that could never break.

Hearing the sound of hooves, the elder stopped, her head swaying in slow motion toward the sound. Starlight beamed toward her with a bright smile, "Thank you again," she chirped, nuzzling the crystalline mare of ice. "Someday, I want to be as beautiful and brave as you are." Then she ran back down the hill to reunite with her mother, careful of those icy patches beneath her tiny hooves or falling in a rogue snowdrift.

The elder smiled as she watched the pink pair move onward back to their family, "Thank you as well, Starlight." This day she was truly blessed by a simple query involving winter, even in the destructive path of a storm.

As the sun rose with a joyous warmth, a mare lay dreaming peacefully. The storm coated the forest and surrounding areas had made things fun yet unbearable for some. The magnificent canvas being a sight to behold, painted the landscape in the beauty of white powder. Joyous it was to walk, trot, even gallop as long as she was with her beloved. He was so strong, enduring, just a dream to be a part of for any adoring mate. As her ear flicked, a smile curved on her muzzle. Currently, they walked within a wildflower field as butterflies danced around them. Life as she knew it carried no worries nor sorrow, just complete happiness. A dream which she treasured deeply if her hooves were hands like the Kawani.

"Hey, sleepyhead"

Ears flicking again, his voice seemed so close now. The warmth of his tone as he lifted the earthly mare into the clouds was a feeling of ethereal happiness. Then the mare heard Rufus' familiar grouchiness, a cue that walking in the flowers was merely a farce to reality. With little protest, her dream faded to black as eyes fluttered open groggily,

"One more moment," she sighed, still in a daze.

She yawned the light upon her, letting her surroundings focus more. The first thing she zoomed in upon was Rufus protesting about snow. While she did find some annoyance within the grumpy hairball, He was still amusing in his views that couldn't help but love them equally in acceptance. Perhaps she was a little envious of Rufus someday desiring her companion. For now, Reflexion's attention would settle upon her mate, who diligently tried awakening her from such splendor in her dream. She laughed softly despite herself as his velvety muzzle brushed against hers in a tickling sensation.

Capturing him finally within her deep blue orbs, she soaked in her mate's presence. So diligently in persistence, he tried his best to awaken her. It was, of course, another blessed day that she would get to spend with him. Looking upward, she smiled at him, a curve forming on her muzzle in contentedness. Such rich hues like shadows and lights danced on his think coat, following downward into the fluffiest feet she had ever seen. Sometimes when they walked close to one another, his feathering tickled her slender legs. He reminded her of solid rock, strong within a raging river. Yet, he was gentle and kind, wrapping his heart around hers.

"Good Morning, my Sverre and Rufus," she smiled once more to the pair, "Are we visiting the flowers once more, now that that snow is melting away? or do you have something else in mind?" Whatever her mate chose, she knew he'd pick something they both enjoy.

She mused, still lingering within her dream of butterflies and flowers. At least Rufus could enjoy himself out in the air again, and the incoming spring air might do him some good.

I stand remembering this moment in time as strong as it lingers within my mind.

The morning greeted me with a strange newness as it warmed my very being. Today was finally the day my daughter would protect the herd. The mountains had been calling me since Celenduin returned. Fate had decided that I take my first steps toward being an elder. I protected my herd from the dragons and their brood. My loyalty would never falter as I moved with the sun and moon for many years. Raising my children, both blood and adoption, was the greatest joy. Now, seeing Cerylia grow into her true self and my children find their footing, I could continue onward and fulfill my calling.

The morning was warm with a light breeze bringing the call of chirping birds and overly happy wildlife scurrying everywhere. This joyous moment caused a shiver within the elder, realizing her path left this beauty behind. The mountains were cold, sometimes foreboding, holding secrets not even the eldest tree whispered. The mare sighed, closing her eyes and intaking a deep breath.

It was time.

She found Cerylia assisting Tiranna with some pies causing a subtle smile in memory. Since they met several years ago, Celendria always picked the sweetest apples out of the basket before elderhood. Even when she grew into herself, she still found joy. The loving memory of Cerylia, almost as tall as her shoulders, invested her interest in her mother's everyday routine. Today mother and daughter would walk together for the last time till Celendria found her new calling. She whinnied in greeting as hooves carried her strong yet elegant frame toward the pair. Immediately, Tiranna cleaning her hands, hurried over to her mare, arms embracing as fingers twirled in the silvery locks. The elder knickered softly as she nibbed on the Kawani's braided hair. This particular routine had followed in a suit for years now. When Tirrana played her flute, Celendria somehow became her world and vice versa. The beloved Kawani maiden finally loosened her friend's embrace as if she knew Celendria had a plan. Celendria smiled momentarily before parusing the basket and choosing the sweetest apple. Extending her neck, she offered the apple, just barely pressuring with her teeth. Tiranna giggled as she accepted the apple. Just like the olden days when it was just her and her spirited mare. Once the apple was exchanged, her attention shifted to Cerylia. Smiling, the elder dipped her long neck toward her daughter. Cascading silver-white locks fell like a waterfall creating an elegant response for Celendria.

"Cerlia. You look well this morning."

The younger mare dipped her head, responding, "As are you, mother. I presume you need to speak with me"?

Celendria nodded, proud of her wise daughter. Cerylia was most like her mother out of all her children, "Yes. Please walk with me. There is much we need to discuss".

Cerylia smiled, "Of course. Lead the way when you are ready".

Celendria paused. "Very well" her tone was soft as hooves carried her away from the campsite.

Celendria lead Cerylia towards the familiar hills the younger mare played in as a foal. She and her other siblings were refreshing to watch over with new vigor and life. Cerylia, the norm of the group, had always been her mother's favorite. Unable to fly, she grounded herself by her mother's side for many moons. Even when her siblings found mates and moved on, Cerylia remained. Celendria always knew she could count on her daughter even when situations were unexplainable or worse. Her daughter would forever stay rooted in the place she loved and treasured. As Celendria continued upward to her place of sanctuary, her mind traveled outward on its wings. If she couldn't return from this journey, would Cerylia be capable of standing in her mother's hoofprints? It certainly was a huge role to fill, watching over the vast herd in protection and love. So many members had come and gone as mates were found and foals were born. Lake Haven was their sanctuary: a place to call home. Turning to look at the sparking lake beneath them, she smiled. Tiranna indeed found a paradise when she moved out on her own.

Cerylia felt a shiver, but she didn't dismiss it as she usually would. Her mother was planning something rather huge, if not life-changing. This process often felt normal as Celendria would walk with her daughter when the time was needed or warranted. The way she walked was like a dream to soak into your soul. Like a shifting piece of ice, the slender elder moved like a ghost to her destination. The more the younger mare kept a vigil on her mother, she knew deep within Celendria was preparing to go off somewhere. The tell-tale signs were as clear as the stream that ran throughout the campsite. Everything was revealing itself, from the little bends to the genuine twists and turns. She blinked momentarily, thinking herself as they finally stopped upon the overlook the elder usually stood in her surveillance.. There sat a familiar sight waiting for them. Two female wolves waiting, nearly alike in appearance, sat patiently waiting for the two mares. Amadahy sat waiting for Ceendria as she had done so many moons ago. Her daughter, Talulah, stayed for Cerylia. This moment in time spoke a million words and was silent as a gentle passing breeze. Waiting with bated breath, Cerylia wanted to know the answers; her mind was repeatedly whispering, but her mother should be the first to speak.

As if Celendria read her mind, she replied, "Cerylia, my daughter. Today is an extremely important one for us both. Hence, we will be starting a journey into a new life equally. At the first realization, the elder mare knew her daughter would gather concern, yet she'd never panic. This was her mother's path, and thus she would never let it hinder her feelings or attitude. Cerylia was steadfast and loyal, leaving her the perfect candidate to take over the routine her mother had perfected for a lifetime. She paused, awaiting her daughter's thoughts as she looked down at the two wolves letting her eyes smile with serenity.

Cerylia knew this moment would come no matter how many times her mother had never spoken of it. An elder's path was a long winding journey that broke into several facets of life. When a wall was reached, those with the guided sight would spread their proverbial wings and climb higher. Their father had disappeared into the recesses of everyone's minds which had been better. Her mother was taking this solo journey to find herself again. She swallowed with a nod, "I knew this day would come, Mother." It was a discreet reply with no ill will or hard feelings toward being left in charge. Even if Cerylia never reached the Mountain as her mother had, she'd still take the responsibility. "Do you know how long you'll be on your path?" A dedicated daughter always felt worried for her matriarch mother. Many things unseen, dangers untold, could leave your mind wandering for ages. Turning her head slowly, she gazed out over the valley below, the crystalline lake shimmering in the distance. When her legs were strong enough, she traveled shoulder height to her mother. This very outlook saw many things, reporting them back immediately. The rumors of the dragon Kalona still lingered in stories before she rested growing up. She couldn't fathom standing down a dragon, but she would if she had to. As she swayed her head once more, she looked down upon the teepee campsite. Tirranna was hanging out hides now as the fresh smell of baking apples filled her senses. Cerylia always grew amused at how Tirranna was always in tune with the herd. In the blink of an eye, she felt the gaze of their maiden looking upward toward them and always watching, always trusting, and never far from the herd. Cerylia knew deep down within. She'd have to protect that which was precious and priceless.

"She always knows where the herd travels, Cerylia". The elder spoke once more, "She means the world to me, as do my family, my herd. Not a day goes by where she forgets we are here". Feeling the gaze as well, Celendria dipped her head in respect. Tirranna smiled, dipping her head as well. Then the elder swayed her neck back to gaze upon her daughter, "An elder's path never ends, even in death. We are endless, timeless, and beloved. My daughter is not an elder, but you aspire to follow after me. I only hope love will capture you as it once captured me. I long to see you raise your own children as I have. For to witness love in its purest form is beyond comprehension".

Cerylia listened to her mother with a longing to feel and understand her words. Celendria adopted her step-sisters Glory & Samedi at a very young age. Both had found their own paths with families. She started to feel the pain of loneliness; her thoughts tied her within, but she stopped. A smile formed on her muzzle as her eyes twinkled in response, "Mother," she began with a more positive tone, "I've met someone. I want you to meet him someday. His name is e-Ton".

Celendria's ears swiveled smoothly toward her daughter's words, "You have? That's wonderful" Her eyes glistening in the sun's adorning rays, "I hope someday, daughter, you will live within the happiness I have".

Cerylia's ears swiveled, content that her mother was pleased, "I hoped you would meet him before your journey began."

Celendria shook her head, "Perhaps another time. The mountains have spoken strongly like an unyielding force. A voice has called me in which I must respond".

Cerylia shivered silently, not to raise the alarm within her mother. She knew the herd would listen, following the very words her mother had taught. She knew without a doubt her authority.

Celendria smiled, feeling the slight insecurity of her daughter, "I know you will do just fine, Cerylia. You've stepped many times in my shadow among all my herd, children, and children. Starting today, I need you to bask in the sun and be proud, timeless as you become my successor. To me, you'll always be my daughter. To the herd, you shall be their Matriarch."

The matriarch is such a colossal word to be bestowed upon someone so young yet wise in her years. Her heart shivered a little knowing this moment in time would be endless as they parted ways.

Celendria took a deep breath, hugging Cerylia with her neck as a single tear slowly shimmered downward, "It's time. I know you will not fail if your heart is as strong as you believe it to be. Be well and reach for the stars. When I return I know you'll have much to discuss".

Cerylia shed her tear, knowing this was a bittersweet moment.

Celendria nodded, looking downward toward her companion, "Come, Amadahy. We have a long road ahead of us".

Then elder and wolf stepped beside one another, slowly away from the spotted mare who stood in her shadow. As the light shined warmly on Cerylia's face, she smiled. Standing idle as her tail swished back and forth, she watched them melt away. The familiar glistening of her mother is only a memory now as a glimpse of her reappeared. Looking downward at Tallulah, she smiled, "I know it's hard, but we'll be alright."

Then she closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. It would be not accessible at times, but her herd's support would guide her. Tirranna would also be there when she needed guidance, and everything would fall into place as it was supposed to. Smiling, she started walking back toward the campsite, smelling those fantastic pastries. Momentarily, she glanced one last time to the woods toward the mountains.

"Be well, Mother. I hope you return home soon," she spoke before continuing with Tallulah by her side down the hill.

The campsite faded away as the overgrown trees began filling inward. Heavy steps echoed from Celendria as her hooves imprinted in the earth and moved onward within her thoughts. Amadahy walked calmly by her side as her nose traveled upward, scenting out prey or predators. For an hour, the icy-hued elder walked in a dream, a haze of her endless queries. She hadn't blamed herself for past events, yet her heart felt heavy. The mountains called for her even when her sleep was calm. Whatever lay in waiting was the answer to everything and anything. On the downside, it could be death finally calling or something with a more sinister tone. Where she was heading was resolution and clarity.

The air was still full of incoming summer, leaving her to shiver from the thought of leaving Cerylia in her place. Once again, she smiled; her daughter was grown with her mother's willpower and drive to succeed. The campsite would be safe in her vigil and assistance from the herd. She paused, looking upward toward the dangerous trail she walked as a filly. It was a little memory in view, but she knew her path from foal hood.

"Amadahy," she began. Her companion looked toward her, ears perking toward her name.

"Thank you for following me on the journey. It's a comforting thought knowing you understand me, even if our language is different.".

The smaller wolf whimpered with a sneeze. Her language was that of the feral wolf, but she was sentient. Soquili was easy to translate once clarity was understood. Amadahy knew instantly that day she met Celendria; she was to follow. Even mothering her pups brought her closer to the elder. Each had witnessed many things within their companionship. Laughter, fear, anger, and sadness all lead strongly to their friendship.

Ears swived, listening as the dusk began settling in. Both would need to seek shelter soon away from the elements and predators. Sniffing the air, she started a search. Amadahy followed behind her, setting out, seeking the same. It wasn't that the elder couldn't handle herself; instead, she wasn't looking for trouble.

As the darkness grew denser, Celendria could feel coldness setting in her joints; a deep set of worries settling within. Soon, the wind howled in her ears as it raced through her mane and tail. Perhaps winter had arrived early within this dense void? That left a contemplation of how long Celendria had been traveling within this nothingness. Another gust of wind chilled her entire frame as snow began falling around her like a contained snow globe. As she squinted, the light was growing more brilliant, blinding those noble eyes as they clenched shut. The wind was bitter as she pushed her way through, a silent, invisible obstacle. The more her strong muscles moved toward the frigid air; the more intense the swirling winds kept her back. Eyes seeking Amadahy, she could be found nowhere in the windy weather. Celendria's eyes reopened once to a familiar terrain; the deep fields of her Mountain home.

Finally, Ears swiveled; she looked over a painted landscape of white snow all around her. Making things more surreal to her was the height of the snow as it brushed under her underbelly. The elder blinked, plowing her strong legs through that thick snow till hooves broke free, separating her from the drift that once held fast.

"Amadahy?!" she called out, only realizing her voice was not hers. Instead, what Celendria heard was a child's voice as it echoed around her in a mocking tone. The cold, being frigid, did not blow through her silken tresses. Instead, her tail was a tiny feather that wisped through the air like a small leaf. Instinctively, her heart sank, for she was but a small filly within a dangerous winter wonderland. Within that mindset, she tried grasping her adult self-feeling it fleet away in a dream. Instead, she began feeling in those hooves, remembering who she was.

"No," she shook her head, "I thought I was..."

"Cele, you crack me up sometimes," he responded with a chuckle.

"Big Bro, you are not right sometimes," she retorted, shaking her head.

"Ha, you put up with me, Lil sis. No idea why but you do," he chuckled, sticking out his tongue.

In the distance, the two siblings heard their parents. It seemed their father was heading out again, never revealing where he was going. Their mother was so pretty standing there, a silken white-ish blue mare bidding her mate safe passage as he sent out again. She was like an angel as Celendria's eyes glistened in tears. Though she was years back, a bit taller than Amadahy, she remembered Isolda, who approached her twins as an elder approached her own.

"My little ones. You remind me so much of your father," Isolda spoke with such love in her eyes.

"Mother," Celendria breathed with exasperation as if she had vanished forever.

"Celendria. I'm here, child. Do not fear; I'm not going anywhere".

All Celendria could do was cry as she nuzzled the warmth of her mother. Her brother looked perplexed as his head circled, capturing a glimpse of Frost, their father. Quickly he was hurrying off to take care of business.

"Why does he leave so much, mama?" Celduin asked with a frown, "He never stays anymore."

"Celeduin, Celendria... My children, your father, has his ideals and always returns. Do not trouble yourself with his motives".

Celendria and her brother noticed a tear as it slid slowly off Isolda's cheek. It was the reason they both agreed not to follow Frost when he headed out again. As they followed their mother up to the cave, settled deep from the wind's tendrils, Celendria closed her eyes next to her mother, feeling her warmth as she dozed off.

But Frost hadn't returned till later the next night, covered in scratches. He assured Isolda he was fine; just Briara that snagged him along the way. Placing sweet grasses and berries on the ground, he watched his family eat. Even the smallest, Avalon, was enjoying his gifts. He always assured his family he'd find unique things for them. Then he bided his family farewell and moved off on a completely different path. Once again, Isolda settled in for the evening with her children. As the darkness set in, Celendria opened her eyes; Celenduin wasn't found anywhere. Immediately, her shining hooves carried her out of safety into the wilderness, all alone. It took only a short while before she saw his tracks in the Moonlight. Eyes keeping a vigil, Celendria followed her brother's hoofprints down through the small forest till it exited out into her favorite field, where they all played. Sniffing the wintery air, she found him hiding behind a giant downed tree. In the Moonlight was their Father Frost; he thought he wasn't alone. Celendria gasped as he was speaking with a Feline Walker. Linking a few tears, Celendria saw the Walker scratch his neck with her claws.

"You are mine, Frost. Why do you return to that family? I can kill them, you know. Wipe your mind for happiness that makes you return. You are foolish, Frost," she hissed, scratching Frost deeper as she leaned in, whispering in his ear.

"You are my only love, Lycoia. Yes, they are my children, Isolda, my mate. But, but you are my only love. I would kill for you if you asked of me".

She hissed, lashing her tail, "Kill them then. They are over behind that downed tree. Kill your brood and prove your loyalty to me".

Frost swallowed heavily, "Lycoia, you know I love only you. They mean nothing to me, especially Isolda. She is just a broodmare".

Celendria's eyes widened in fear; her brother bolted around the log to face his father. Tears were in his eyes as he stared down at his father as bravely as he could be, "Take it back, dad. Take it back. You love mom! You love us"!

"Oh, this is so entertaining, Frost. What will you do! Will you kill your brood for me? Or stand there and lie like you always have". Lycoia laughed, her eyes glistening toward Celenduin. "If you don't kill him, perhaps I will. You see, Foolish stallion. You are just that".

"Father, why? Why would you do this?" Why would you hurt mama with a walker?!" Celenduin was yelling now, trying to remain brave. He feared for his sisters, Mother, and everyone dear to him. His father was a cheater etched in stone. Then without warning, Celenduin charged at his father, Lycoia, whoever was closest. At the last second, he stopped short as glistening blue-tinted ice slammed into Lycoia, pushing her back from Frost.

"Why Frost, why?" Isolda faced him with tears in her eyes, "I trusted you. They trusted you!"

"Isolda... I" was all that escaped his muzzle before he screamed, "No!"

Isolda's back had been toward Lycoia, facing her mate. Without warning, Teeth sunk into her neck as blood sprayed the ground. Scattered bits of flesh had also escaped as if they followed the surge of exposed blood poured from the wound. She gasped, her hooves unable to carry her weight, sending the fleeting mare downward as her body twitched in the frozen, disturbed snow. Coughing, she cried out to Celenduin, "Run, son. Runaway and never look back.."

Celenduin started at Frost, who was at a loss for words. As her life force melted into the snow, Frost backed away in fear, perhaps disgust. He couldn't speak; instead, he ran away, leaving his children to watch their Mother succumb to death. Finally, Celenduin turned to run, leaving this place buried in a nightmare. As he tried to forget what happened, his sister Celendria stepped out calmly from the log, eyes streaming in fluid tears; she smelled the heated blood soaking inward toward the frozen ground. Swallowing heavily, she walked out toward Lycoia, her eyes never leaving Walker's gaze.

"Well, Well. I see you are the smartest in the family, Lil one. Let me rip out your throat as I have your Mother's. It can be a mother, daughter moment," the walker sneered, flexing her claws.

"No," Celendria shook her head, staring down her Mother's killer.

"No?" the walker laughed, "Aren't you the cute one? Look how your Mother's blood is so red. I do wonder if yours is as well, little filly."

"No," Celendria replied again, not moving.

"Are you playing with me, child? I will tear your throat like hers. Rip your flesh beneath my claws".

Celendria shook her head again, "No. you won't. Because I understand now".

Lycoia grew confused, "You are making no sense, you silly filly. Are you mocking me?" Now Lycoia kissed her eyes, narrowing.

"No," Celendria responded, "You won't hurt me because you are not real."

Lycoia scoffed, "Not real? Surely your death wish is as deep as that wound your Mother has. Go on; I'll let you talk to her before I kill you."

Celendria shook her head, "I remember mother. I remember everything all of us except Celenduin forgot. I can not change fate. But I can reroute our destiny".

Lycoia was trembling, not with bloodlust but with fear. She backed away, hissing, tail lashing.

Celendria took a deep breath, remembering that which she locked away. As her hooves powered through the snow, she found new-found courage as she charged the walker. It didn't matter how tall or sturdy she was. The small iced filly knew there was always bravery as she slammed into the walker, pushing her back. Turning about, she flailed her hooves, kicking outward, pushing the walker back further and further, "I will protect my herd any way I need to. I will not fear the unknown nor cower from what I can not control. I am an elder by choice. You are nothing but a bad dream!"

Lycoia hissed, scrambling away from Celendria's eyes widened in fear. Forgetting her meal, she moved like lightning, afraid of a filly who had bested her.

Celendria breathed as she made her way to her Mother's slowly dying body. A single tear slid downward as it pinged off her Mother's cheek, "Farewell, Mother. I will always cherish the time I had with you".

Then everything went black as only the sounds of a mare's hooves could be heard echoing in the darkness, revealing a light before her. Something brushed against her legs, leaving her in relief, "Amadahy," she spoke with kindness.

Her companion whimpered in response as she moved ahead to investigate the light. Amadahy saw something in the distance, whimpering, causing Celendria to follow. As the iced elder looked upward, she noticed right away the familiar rock formation as it loomed above them.

Soquili Rock.

"We made it," Celendria breathed with a smile.

"Indeed you have," responded a voice being quite familiar.

"Lady Arendelle," Celendria breathed, "I remember now."

Lady Arendelle smiled, "I'm glad. Come, the Mountain still awaits".

Celendria sighed with a nod, "Thank you, she breathed."

Lady Arendelle then leads Celendria and Amadahy deeper into the Mountain. It was unknown what lay waiting, but, Celendria, who had repressed her memories all those years, was ready once again to face those buried fears. Each time she stepped into yet another dream, she found herself. Soon she'd be whole once more.

As the booming nightmare diminished a lone soul awakened in a darkened forest unaware of why she had been placed there. Blinking eyes in terror resonated within the female's mind that it wasn't a dream. Awkwardly, she stood on four legs as the timid mare realized she was still residing within the dream. No, it wasn't a dream because she could feel the moss of the forest floor beneath her hooves. As something moved swiftly within her vision, the mare known as Hanyuu confirmed she needed to get out of this place.

"Tick... Tock", boomed an unknown voice sending shivers through the mare's body,

"I need to get out... Au au au au au" she cried as her eyes gazed left and right. Then, Hanyuu bolted straight ahead as that evil voice just seemed to attach itself to the frightened mare. The forest growing deep in foilage led her to a path that seemed identical either way she could gaze upon. Turning off course she smelled something awful as if there were dead remains awaiting her. "Shifter" she whispered to herself. Could have been something even more sinister. Fearing she went off course from the path she stood at this strange crossroads. There seemed to be an overly huge log that a foal could escape through but it was crawling with something horrid. "Au au au au au", she cried out once more. As the smell of the fresh carrion started wafting toward the terrified mare she opted to inspect the log for any way of escaping.

"You need to crawl through it", responded a soft voice standing behind her.

Hanyuu became skittish hearing another voice, turning swiftly to see a smaller Soquili half her size. While Hanyuu was a smaller mare, she was quite tall compared to this other female. "Through it? Au au au au au... There are things in there. Dangerous things"!

The smaller mare smiled quietly, her voice consoling to the timid mare, "I don't know why we're here but, I do know we have to escape".

Hanyuu sighed her hooves fidgeting in the soft earthen dirt, " Au au au au au... Can I follow you?" she pleaded, "I don't know where I am, or how to escape".

The smaller mare smiled, "I was going to ask you the same. Perhaps together, we can both find a way out of here. For now, we need to begin by crawling through this log".

Hanyuu shivered, "Au au au au au... okay".

The smaller mare hunkered down, wings tightly tucked to her sides as strong little legs pulled her through the log filled with all kinds of slimy creepy bugs. Focusing on the light ahead, she forgot the bugs and pulled herself out.

Hanyuu on the other hand was terrified as she herself began crawling through the "log of escape". The bugs seemed quite harmless but their constant movement crawling in and out of her mane was too much. Pulling herself desperately, Hanyuu freed herself from the log shrieking with cries of agony. Kicking her back hooves outward, she fought to free herself of the wiggling on her very body.

The smaller mare moved quickly assisting Hanyuu with the removal of the insects and worms, possible spiders, "There. they are gone now".

Hanyuu's chest inhaled and exhaled quickly, "Au au au au au... Never again. Never again"!

The smaller mare nodded in agreement, "I'm Laelia "Lilly" Orchid. But, you can call me Lilly if you'd like".

Hanyuu shivered but she tried to smile in return, "I'm Hanyuu" she replied.

"Hanyuu" Lilly responded, "Nice to meet you", she spoke as all six of her tiny wings flared out like a warmed flower in the sunshine.

Hanyuu's eyes widened in admiration, "You're a tri-wing, Ni?

Lilly nodded, "Yes, I am. I was gifted with these when I emerged from my tiny basket"

Hanyuu smiled, and her hooves stopped fidgeting in the dirt, "Pretty Au ".

Lilly was about to speak when she remembered the voice, "We need to hurry, Hanyuu. This way". she murmured as her tiny hooves carried her through the forest.

Hanyuu agreed as her own hooves carried her behind Lilly till they traveled two another fork in the path. To the left there was a deep-looking river, to the right, it looked like a mountain with no entry. Hanyuu moved swiftly toward the river, skidding to a halt that was rolling fast with no way of crossing. Within these swirling waters were slippery-looking rocks poking upward, algae growing upon the tops. Within the waters, something was swimming, though Hanyu had no idea what. "Au au au au au' she cried out turning back to make sure Lilly was still with her.

While Hanyuu was seeking a way through the river, Lilly was studying the wall that seemed strangely out of place. Lilly turned her head seeking an answer. Not too far from where she stood was the largest waterfall she had ever seen. The falls were dense as the pooled water seemed deep then she heard something echoing in the falls. It seemed far off and yet it was close. Ready to turn back to Hanyuu she saw something within the falls realizing it was the answer. Quickly, she called out to her companion, "Hanyuu! I found it! Follow me"! Moving quickly she found a hidden path that traveled up behind the falls"

Hanyuu moved behind her as soon as she was summoned realizing she was entering an extremely dark cave as the howls grew louder. Shivering she stuck close to Lilly hoping they wouldn't become something's dinner. There seemed to be light peering through in the distance. From there the muddled sound of the falls grew faded but the howling mingled with growling resided toward the hope of an exit. Lilly frowned as they moved slowly into the foreboding darkness. Shifters were notorious for lingering in unknown places just waiting to sink their teeth into something of delicious interest. Thankfully, Lilly was happy that Hanyuu was accompanying her through this strange adventure. Swallowing, she reminded herself she could overcome this obstacle which seemed like an intended tomfoolery game created by foals. She kept moving deeper into the darkness, walls getting tighter till they lightened a little more with the sound of water. Lilly stopped as she entered a room within the cave. There appeared to be another opening above them with yet another smaller waterfall which if alone she could have just escaped by flying out. But, her thoughts traveled to Hanyuu who was earthbound, unable to follow. Instead, she chose to continue on the path back into the darkness leaving that growling noise residing behind them. Hanyuu wondered why Lilly hadn't just escaped through the opening, freeing herself from this crazy game. But, overall she was thankful that Lilly chose to find the way out with her.

As they moved through the cave light began filtering in once more. This time she could smell the fresh air filtering through the dank cave they traversed within. Excitedly, Hanyuu trotted forward eager to be out of this crazy cave rejoicing as her hooves once again sunk into the soft earthen ground. Lilly was just as excited till she heard that voice along with Hanyuu this time. It seemed to echo in the wind but it was very distinct, "Tick, tock. You are almost out of time."

Hanyuu panicked as she galloped past Lilly seeking the exit. Looking outward she saw the meadows beyond leaving her relieved till she skidded to a halt. The easiest path seemed to be overgrown with briars that would tear one's hide in an instant. Sitting at the entrance to the forest was a trio of shifters; a bear, wolf, and panther grinning toward the two mares in their feral forms.

Lilly skidded to a halt looking down the easiest path, 'Whoever made this nightmare definitely doesn't want to make this easy". Choosing to follow the path away from the exit they so badly desired, Lilly took a deep breath following her heart. "Hanyuu. I just know we'll escape. We just have to believe".

Hanyuu whimpered yet she nodded, "I am... Thank you for being here".

Lilly smiled, "Always. I would help another in need".

Hanyuu smiled, "Thank you, Lilly". She then stopped short as the path stopped on a hill that lead downward into a fog of the unknown. Swallowing heavily she turned to look at Lilly, "What now? We can't go through the briars and face those shifters".

Lilly sighed her eyes searching for more clues. Gazing at the trees around them she sought seeking an answer. The rocks beneath seemed out of place, perhaps deliberately. Then it dawned on her what the final clues were trying to say, "Hanyuu, follow me".

Hanyuu heard something, footsteps from behind them causing her withers to ripple in fear, "Someone is following us". Quickly, she followed Lilly putting her hooves in her companion's own bravery. Then Lilly vanished, "Lilly! Lilly where are you?! Au au au au au" her hooves stamping the ground as she panicked.

Lilly's voice echoed back, "Down here. Follow me!"

Hanyuu's ears swiveled toward the sound as Lilly was hopping onto large grassy rocks leading downward into the fog. As the sound of creatures approaching signaled in Hanyuu's ears, she let out a scared breath and jumped down. The area seemed steep but the rocks in the side of the stone were manageable to stand upon. Keeping her eyes on Lilly, she followed the other's steps identically till she descended into the fog beneath her. Finally, she heard Lilly once more, "Hanyuu! I found it!" Hanyuu heard breathing above her as she took off running toward Lilly. Closing her eyes she ran as fast as she could till she felt grass tickling her fetlocks. Breathing heavily, Hanyuu opened her eyes to a beautiful meadow as it began to lightly rain. Blinking she looked behind her as the fog grew denser placing the forest in mystery.

Lilly trotted up behind her, standing idle by Hanyyu's side."We did it. We escaped and solved the mysteries".

Hanyuu's breath exhaled in relief recognizing the meadow she was standing within. Strangely the forest seemed to have disappeared in the fog, "Thank you again Lilly", she gratefully spoke in admiration.

Lilly smiled confidently knowing full well that Hanyuu had given her a purpose, the strength to continue when facing something unknown, "Thank you as well, Hanyuu". You helped me face my own fears through that adventure".

As the rain thickened, and the wind stirred, a voice seemed the echo past them, "Well Done".

Iset's hoof scoffed as they traveled along one another's side. Today just wasn't her greatest leaving her fate and wisdom within her handmaiden's hands. Within her heart, she knew she loved Atemu but, with her royal nature hearing he chose another was frustrating. As soon as their eyes met, they'd find themselves arguing, It's just how royals tended to act when situations went south for the winter so to speak. Her handmaiden's words were truthful in any case.

"I know being truthful is the correct solution. I'm just having trouble comprehending the situation" she sighed as she remembered the last time they were together. Silently, she wondered if this bad day was going to worsen when she did find him. As they neared the corner of the path, Iset delighted in finding a lone stream taking a moment to to quench her parched throat. Hopefully, this would wash away the bad day's proceedings.

Kiros was impeccable in attending to the Pharoah's needs. As promised, the knight found a stream where the Pharoah could clean his hooves feeling less soiled than a Commoner wild Soquili. Atemu was very strict about said conditions due to his high-strung nature. "There sire. A stream as promised", he spoke aloud then he noticed a familiar sight. Wondering if Atemu would stay Cival, or if he noticed said familiar Soquili, Kiros hoped things would be better between them.

Pharoah Atemu's ears flicked hearing the stream. The scent he remembered, floated into his senses like ambrosia filtered within the breeze. He wanted to fully explain the situation but, his royal nature was prude, and stubborn. Walking toward her, he spoke with his royal mane brushing over his eyes, "I suppose you are better now?" he spoke arrogantly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Iset's ears swiveled upward, ready to apologize before she heard that arrogant tone. Ears lying backwards she knew irritation had set in once more. "What's that supposed to mean?" she returned his query with distaste. "The last time we met after all those years, I had to hear it from your daughter of all royals. How did you think I was supposed to react!" Iset snorted with a stamp of her hoof, "This day is horrible! Even more so, now that you've decided to treat the situation in your favor. I was hoping the fruit and the briers that scratched my legs were the end of this horrific day... but apparently I was mistaken".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pharoah Atemu snorted. Of all the narcissistic things he wanted to hear from her! "I've had a worse day than you, Iset! Mud. It's everywhere! That is why I am here, to clean my hooves. I pondered seeing you here but, more refined. Happy to see me even. Not dredging up the past... yet again!" he snorted stomping a hoof into the ground. "Besides the point of my "Son" telling you the truth. In my defense, I was informed you were dead. What was I supposed to think?".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Mud?!" Iset stammered, "You have a bad day because of rain? How childish!" Ears flattened she turned to look in another direction, "All I wanted was the truth from you. Not your son Atemu. Spending eons to locate you only to find you chose another was heartbreaking! I would have nearly married off if Irisi hadn't helped me escape. You have no idea what I've been through! Stop thinking about yourself for a change Your Highness!" Iset was flustered by now, feeling her cheeks heated as her eyes widened.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kiros, dared not speak up rather he'd be sun into this web of destiny. Instead, he backed away slowly, moving over toward Rashimi hoping she was fine. "This day certainly has gotten worse, hasn't it?" he whispered to Rashimi as the royals hollared at one another.

Iset was about to bolt, but her royal blood refused to let dogs lie, so to speak. She was not weak, nor was she a pushover, just tired from everything currently and from the past. They were supposed to be lifemates, Atemu deemed it so by decree when he was old enough. It wasn't Iset's choice to be taken away and almost married to a stallion she disliked. She just wanted to scream right now! Screaming to the cosmos she was tired of this petty quarrel that should have been buried seeing her long-lost beloved. Yet, here they were once again complaining as royals do. Preparing to bid Atemu forever, her ears twitched, perking to Rashimi who was speaking up out of place appearing drenched to the bone. To most royals, handmaidens were simple accessories for problem-solving. To Iset, Rashimi was a close friend and confidant. She appeared as words of wisdom when Iset was lost or stuck in place. Before Rashimi, Irisi spoke her mind, leading Iset to the Mainland free of being pursued.

"Rashimi" she gasped hoping Atemu wouldn't attack her for interfering. Moving over closer to Rashimi she stood her ground staring deep into Atemu.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kiros couldn't believe his eyes when Rashimi did the unthinkable moving to face both the Lady and the Pharoah. In royal culture, those who attended were to be silent. His eyes were not deceiving him as she moved over to speak her mind. Being tempted to motion her to stand down, Koiros realized that Rashimi had the right idea. Moving toward Rashi, he stood beside her in protection should Atemu lash out in defiance. He as well had felt this fighting had gone on long enough. "Sire and Lady, I'm sorry but I need to address this issue as well. Please, I ask you to hear what we have to say regardless if you view this as disrespectful". Kiros stood tall, his wings tightly settled on his back, head lowered in respect he resumed his speech, "Instead of being here in this moment screaming and being narcissistic, You should be grateful to have found one another after everything you've been through. I have not seen my mate in eons since I chose to be employed under your wing. The whole past was misfortunate, yes. But, you have time to rectify and enjoy your time together.".
Atemuhad enough as the mud clung to his feet like sheets of sticky annoyances. All he wanted to do was soak the menace away so he'd be in a better mood. Now, Iset was combatting his authority which was angering him. To make matters more of a sticky situation, both his Knight and her Handmaiden were pointing out they were acting like foals. Then something hit him as if his heart had been penetrated with truth. Kiros hadn't seen his mate in years choosing to follow the class of a fighter being the royal escort and confidant to the Pharoah. Neith was the one who had caused this mess to begin with. He was a hardheaded son after all who refused to listen to his father's rule. Perhaps, more than anything he deserved a mother of royal blood. He grunted, tail swishing in contemplation, "Perhaps, after all was said and done. Maybe they were acting like quarreling foals. From the moment he saw her again grow into those beautiful wings and length of hair. She was his and his alone by his decree. This fighting was not proving anything other than how narcissistic they both were in their own rights. It was time to mend the situation. Even if it means admitting you were wrong.
