It had taken longer than expected. Between the mind reading thing, the promotion, a trip to Atlantis to visit Melvin, and setting up his new office in the Life labs, time had gotten away from Zeke a bit, but he was free now, and more than ready. With the work day over, all duties behind him, Zeke had made his way back to the dorms(there were still a few boxes left to unpack, but he'd get to them) to change into jeans and a t-shirt before heading right next do to knock on Ever's door, then settling against the wall beside it. There was a growing smile on his face, a certain obvious eagerness radiating off. Spars with Ever were always fun, and even more so when they were close in power.

Ever answered fairly quickly -- with his glasses pushed halfway up into his hair and a pen tapping idly against the line of his jaw. There were eight or ten small dots and one slashing line where he'd caught himself with the ink end, and he seemed completely unaware of it. Unconcerned, too, probably. He raised his eyebrows at Zeke, and tipped his head at the expression on his face, considering. "Not sure if I need to change or take my clothes off..."

The ink on Ever's jaw threw him for about a split second, drew his focus to those dark spots until the other man's comment startled him into a laugh. "Why can't it be both?" He gave a very sharp grin, leaning in close. "We're over due a spar, if memory serves." He glanced at the pen, the glasses, and those spots of inks again before meeting dark, dark eyes again. "If you're not too busy." It was obvious he was working on something, language work probably, but surely he could carve a little time out for a test of strength. And perhaps another wager?

Their minds were, apparently, in the same place -- because as Ever leaned into the doorway, settling into place, his expression shifted to something more thoughtful. "...what's the bet?" He tossed the pen aside. Working, yes, but he could come back to it. Maybe the ink was a sign he'd been at it too long.

Ever leaned in closer as well, and Zeke took advantage of that to steal a taste of the other man's lips. As kisses it, it was fairly tame. For them, it was down right chaste. And brief. "You've got ink on your face, sweetheart," he murmured against Ever's lips before drawing back again. "And the bet is up to you," he continued, not even missing a beat. "If you win, but if I win, we're going off island." the where hadn't quite been settled on yet, but there were a few places floating around in his head. He also needed to go furniture shopping, but that'd be a trip for another day.

"Can we leave it open ended on my end?" A flicker in his eyes, amused. He reached up to rub at his cheek, absolutely nowhere near the spot where he'd scribbled ink, but the movement was distracted and absent-minded. Ever didn't actually care that much. "To be determined at a later date?"

"If you want." The bet itself really didn't matter too much. The last time Zeke had lost had been no hardship. There were very few things Ever could ask of him that would give him pause, or even flat out refuse. Licking his thumb, he moved to rub it over the spots of ink on Ever's chin, chuckling. "That's even assuming you'll win," he said with an obvious challenge, grin widening. "I've got my doubts." When they'd been more evenly matched, before Ever had pulled ahead again, their matches had been much closer. Ever still had experience on him, but how much would that make a difference now? Dropping his hand, the ink more or less gone now, he'd step back and wave a hand down the hall towards the stairs. "Shall we?"

Ever made just a small sound, faintly amused, and turned to grab his coat off the back of his chair. He shrugged into it in the hallway, shooting a look back over his shoulders to make sure Zeke was following. "I've been at this a lot longer than you have, fancy new coat or no, Zeke." He flicked at the front of Zeke's shirt before starting down the stairs, comfortably confident. In this one thing, at least, he seemed to be pretty certain about his skills.

The cocky smile still lingered, despite the truth in Ever's words. "I guess we'll see, won't we?" Winning would have been nice, but in truth Zeke didn't care either way, not really. It was the competition that was fun, the playful ribbing and subtle bite of the banter tossed between them. Not to mention the fight itself. There wasn't a single shot of sparring with Ever that the former Mist didn't enjoy. Except, perhaps, that awful, leeching charge. He held the door for the other man as they reached. It.

Ever grinned as he passed Zeke, flicking him a little salute -- and then took off faster, long legs stretched out so that Zeke would have to trot a bit to keep up, on the way to the training field. Before they even hit the grass, he had his own weapon out. He turned the dagger slowly in his hand, chain rattling in its wake, and tipped his head to look back at Zeke. "I can't believe you're agreeing to an open ended bet." beejoux oops I accidentally rolled 2, let's just average them I guess lmfao

Zeke snorted softly as he followed, stride stretched to the limit to keep up. "Should I be worried?" A brow arched, his head tipping to the side as he considered the other man. "Don't I usually do anything you want, already?" He couldn't recall an instance where Ever had wanted something and not received it. At least from Zeke. His eyes flicked to the weapon in Ever's hand, and then up to the other man's face as he summoned his own. The ax, large as it'd been before, even larger now, and the chain shorter. One blade still significantly larger than the other.

"Sometimes, I think, you need a little bit of a nudge. To convince yourself as much as anyone else. Ready?" Before Zeke could reply, he stepped in again, striking out with a slash of his dagger. His eyes were bright and the movements sharp, excited. The result was a hit that was much harder than he intended, probably. Or maybe he'd meant to just about drive Zeke off his feet. "Ready," he agreed, the grin lingering, for all of a minute before Ever was rushing in to claim the first blow. A blow which was shockingly powerful, driving the air from his lungs as he stumbled backwards. Not quite falling, but avoiding it with only the quick smack of the ax into the ground to keep his balance. "s**t." He'd have liked to have thrown back some witty banter, but he didn't seem able to drag anything up. Not just yet. "Nudge?" He did manage that, a little out of breath, as he brought the ax back up. "Is this a nudge?" He didn't need to be as close as he used to, but he wasn't quite used to that yet. Stepping in, he brought the large weapon around in a heavy handed swing, aiming the brunt of the blade at the other man's torso. HP: 43 DMG: 11 CHG: 1/3

"Just a love tap." It came with a breath of laughter behind it, even as Zeke struck back at him -- landed on him hard enough to knock him just a little bit off-balance. Ever caught himself and swung back again, beaming at Zeke as he landed another shot. This wasn't anywhere near as hard as the first, but still -- "This was your idea, you know." That made him grin, fierce and excited as Ever swung back at him, catching his mid section with the sharp tipped blade. It stung, pulling a soft hiss from the man, but smile remained. "I'm not having second thoughts." He had wanted it, still did, and Ever not pulling punches was what made it s good. He didn't want the other man to hold back. Where would be the fun in that? He hefted the ax up again, brought it around. "You like it as much as I do." heavy blades came back around in a two handed strike, just as heavy as the last one. HP: 36 DMG: 10 CHG: 2/3
