Appearance:
Dirty blond hair; gray eyes; various shades of pale. Erek's appearance is typically sickly looking with dark, sunken eyes, weight loss and in general weakness.
Personality:
Most people know Erek about as well as he knows himself. He's an aloof man who prefers to keep arm's reach of others and typically doesn't offer much conversation unless prompted and prodded. Even before the surfacing of his powers, he was never one to bother with people very much and tended to spend most of his time alone. As he has become older, he has forced himself to assimilate into his fellow peers company, if only for the chance to improve his chances at being more normal.
When he's not coming off cold and unfeeling, it becomes apparent that Erek is actually quite awkward with other people. Despite his best efforts and slow improvement over the years, he still does not socialize flawlessly. He is conflicted on having the desire to branch out and make connections with his peers and wanting to keep them all a distance away.
He is a kind man under all and wants the best for his fellow mutants, though silently wonders if a peace within themselves and the humans is ever achievable. As the years go by he has grown more fearful of what not only he himself is capable of, but also those who can wreak just as much havoc on the world. There is also a pang of resentment of their place in the world. He struggles with the nature of his abilities and at times feels his mind is bursting at the hinges.
Likes: Erek enjoys star gazing, collecting old photos and learning different types of history. He also likes the cold weather of winter and chinese take out.
Dislikes: Due to his constant hunger, Erek does not enjoy being near people - let alone large crowds of crowds. He hates loud noises and the sound of numbers of people talking at once. Being touched without warning or permission makes me uneasy and he does not care for spicy foods in the slightest.
Power:
Hemokinesis ; Erek has the gift of control over a living organism's blood. His powers are limited due the potential deadly results and his own unwillingness to push his limits.
Power Strengths:
Hemokinetic Constructs ; While not mastered, Erek has slowly developed the skill to use his own blood as a weapon. Once drawn, he is able to cause the blood cells to crystallize into a solid form and shape. The more quantity, the larger and more powerful the weapon can be. His go-to choice when used is a set of small sphere's which he then can project like bullets.
Blood Empowerment ; The moment that Erek absorbs another person's blood into his body, he becomes noticeably healthier. He becomes stronger, faster and his senses heighten. His body thrives on blood and the benefits are not easily ignored. The more intake he has, the larger difference it makes. What happens when Erek absorbs enough blood to satisfy himself is unknown.
Power Weaknesses:
Dependency ; When Erek abstains from absorbing another person's blood for periods of time, his body and health begin to decline. He comes lethargic and constantly tired, with his mental state declining. His skin becomes pale and cold. In general, he seems to resemble the state of someone who has experienced a large amount of blood loss. Due to the limited amount of blood he can obtain without force and his own unwillingness to take some others, he is most often seen in a less dramatic state such as this.
Instability ; Due to a combination of Erek's own fear, inexperience and the chaotic nature of his powers, He can not venture far out of his comfort zone. If he allows himself to become too starved, his nature instincts will take over and will steal the blood from whoever he can. Often times he is unable to touch others, knowing that he would not be able to control himself in the event of his body being desperate. In cases where he has caused his state to be severe, physical contact is not needed. Luckily he is typically able to find a donor before this happens.
Heat ; With little tolerance for the heat, Erek finds it extremely difficult to use his powers when he grows too hot. Not only is his focus distracted, but the blood itself becomes much harder to bend to his will. In cases where the temperature is extreme, it can feel as though the blood under his veins is boiling and thus cause pain.
History:
Both of Erek's parents were immigrants who relocated to the USA in search of opportunities. They settled in Maine where they started a business and began a new life. It was successful for them. The pair fought against any stereotypes or negative views on them by acting as perfect as possible, from their clothes and personality. This would eventually be pushed onto their son when he was born several years later.
From the beginning the boy was a weak child but the change was a slow one. After puberty and as Erek's body changed into an adult, he became noticeably paler and tired and lacked the energy that most young men had. His eyes were dull and lifeless and it was a struggle to be awake. While tests were performed, there was so still answer as to what was happening to him. For a while, both the hospitals and his parents believed that their son was teetering on the edge of death from an unknown disease.
It was during one of the stays at the hospital for more testing that Erek's powers first surfaced. He had been sleeping as he normally did when a nurse accidentally startled him awake, his hand grabbing onto her arm as she reached beside his bed. The rush of energy flooded his body and his grip tightened, a warmth spreading over his normally clammy and cold skin. While eyes wide, there was nothing but a brightness at first - but when he came back into reality, the nurse looked as though she had switched places; her skin was pale and cold and she wobbled, only staying upright from the tight grip still on her arm. If it wasn't for Erek's mother and the other nurses, the woman would have died.
After the incident, it was discovered that Erek was in fact a mutant and his powers had surfaced with his coming of age. More tests revealed the nature of his gifts; the control over blood. The touch to the nurse had left behind a dark imprint of his hand where her blood had been drained out and given a new surge to himself. After that Erek and his parents moved away from those who might have learned their new little secret, with him eventually going out on his own when they were too frightened of both the future and him.
Eventually he wound up within the halls of the Institute, where they would help him regain control of his life despite his age.
The years have since rolled by slowly, with Erek doing his best to get a grip on the requirements of his body and the powers that linger at his fingertips. Erek could never outrun them, but he has never been able to accept them for they are.. For what type of creature is required blood to survive, if not a monster from a person's bedtime stories?
