Hopefully, Roddy wouldn’t notice. Gravina felt quite guilty about living under Manu’s roof without the ability to pay him monetarily. Cooking and cleaning were a start, but the Knight felt this simply wasn’t good enough. He had to make a difference somehow, and patrolling the city despite the threats was one way to practice not only being a Knight, but being brave. He slipped through one of the windows downstairs, careful to close it quietly behind him before slipping off into the night. Gravina had a timer, a way to remind him to go back home before Roddy might wake up and be angry with him for leaving. He knew exactly why Roddy might be angry, but… With a huff, the puffy-haired young man tried to push it from his mind. Eventually, Roddy would see that he was doing a good thing, and maybe Gravina could broach the subject of joint patrols to ease Manu’s mind. It wasn’t long before Gravina found himself sitting atop one of Destiny City University’s science buildings, dangling long legs over the lip of the rooftop. He couldn’t recall having gone to college, or anything, really, before having become a slavering beast. Delilah and the others insisted there was a time before Bazzite that he was a human, and that Bazzite himself had mentioned it specifically. It was a strange thing, now that the Knight sat and began the arduous taste of sorting through those tattered memories. Part of him didn’t consider Bazzite to be a separate entity, and yet… another part of him felt that Bazzite existed as a bad dream, a nightmare that he finally awoke from. This time of night, Gravina was surprised anyone without powers was milling around. Was the school open this late? Curiously, he leaned forward to spy down on the pavement below, watching a smattering of students (he assumed) on skateboard or drinking from red plastic cups. Why were they always red? That was something he’d have to ask Roddy about later. One woman in particular almost looked like Ginger from above, with the same kind of fiery red hair. It couldn’t possibly be her, though. Did she go to college? Wait… she did… Was that Mom down there?

Sometimes volleyball practice ran late, and sometimes, it ran late. Tonight was the latter of the two, on account of the fact that one of the sophomores on the team had decided to show up twenty-six minutes past the hour without calling, which meant the whole team got an extra twenty-six minutes of conditioning after they finished their drills. Katie wasn't sure her hamstrings would ever be the same--already, they ached with every step in the short walk from the rec center to the parking garage keeping watch on the mom van she took to and from campus.
Normally, Katie took the time to bury her face in the headlines on her phone, but ever since she'd been caught off guard by the man at the University Store, she found it a little unnerving to be out by herself at night. She wasn't afraid, no, being scared of the dark was for people who didn't lift, and Katie's shirt said 'Gainz 4 Dayz', so it was a sheer impossibility of the universe that she, a grown-a** woman with impeccable biceps, would be unable to escort herself without fear across the campus green.
Still, her eyes were off her phone, just in case.
It was because she happened to not be on twitter that she caught the sight of a flash of white on one of the rooftops, and she spun in place to follow the little flicker of brightness in an otherwise dark sky. She couldn't quite make out the details of the silhouette looking down at her, but she was willing to bet...
It hardly took any effort--she thought about Chauvet's ball and it appeared in her hand, like she'd always been holding it instead of her phone. With a flippant toss, she and the ball both burst into starlight, and by the time she caught it she herself was Chauvet, who just like before could feel something shimmering about the figure above, something that was more than just sight. They had to be a knight, too.
"Hey!!" She waved her gloved arms in a wide arc, trying to flag down the other knight before they decided to run off. It was only then that she rememered that being a Page of Cosmos was supposed to be Serious Business, and so her eyes darted across the green, looking for anything that resembled a monster in the shape of midterms, but for the moment it looked like it was just the two of them. She shrugged, then returned her attention back up to the other figure, who was certainly more interesting than a monster anyway.
"How'd you get up there??"

The brilliant crackle and flash of light caught his attention immediately, and Gravina was enchanted by it. He clapped heartily from his spot on the roof, beaming down at the wee Cosmos Page far below (even if she couldn’t see it). That was the first time he’d ever seen someone other than his immediate family and roommate transform in front of him, but was it a good idea out in public like this? Was she okay? Boy, she sure did look fancy from up here… “O-oh, hello! Um, I jumped up!” Gravina called back, thinking for a moment of slipping from the roof to the top of one of the parking garages, and then to the ground below to meet with her. Yes, that sounded like a brilliant idea. Gravina took the slow and careful route instead of bouncing from one point to the next like seasoned veterans tended to. Human legs bent differently and Gravina had to be careful not to hyperextend his ankles and knees. Once the young man had landed safely on the ground, he made to dust himself off before approaching. Wow, this Page was an awful lot taller than she looked from the roof. Most everything was. “Oh, my goodness, you’re quite tall, Miss… um… Page. Miss Cosmos Page. That’s a very lovely dress you have. Are you alright? Did you see a youma? Oh, I suppose you might have seen me first. I didn’t sense any youma, so I think the campus is safe for right now. It’s nice to know someone else is here to protect it, too.” he tittered, admiring the way her dress bustled on the sides, and how the layer beneath resembled a night sky with twinkling stars. “O-oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t tell you my name. I’m Gravina. It’s very nice to meet you. Since you’re like me, would you be willing to be my friend? I’d… really appreciate it.” A blush crept to his face and Gravina sighed, shoulders slumping as he fidgeted. “S-sorry. Sometimes, I just… blurt… things… without… thinking too much.”

Jumped up there? From what? Chauvet gave the sparkly blip an incredulous look until it started sliding across buildings in the most hardcore parkour she'd ever witnessed. By the time she landed, there were stars in her eyes and airhorns playing in the background of her mind. She hadn't noticed it, but somewhere along the other knight's journey she'd put her hands up over her mouth, and by the time he approached she was positively bouncing in excitement.
"Umm, holy s**t? Holy ******** s**t, you're a god, that was the coolest s**t I've ever seen," Chauvet blabbered, wide eyes taking in the starry motifs, the shimmer of his outfit. "You just, like...went over to that roof, and then you slid down over there, and it was, like, pshoooo, and then you just landed like it was nothing. That was so cool. Holy s**t." She didn't mean to talk over him, not really, it was just that she was so excited, and it took her an extra moment to realize that he'd been talking, that he thought she was tall and her dress was lovely and he seemed mildly concerned about her safety.
"Oh! Youma? Nahh, I just saw you, and I thought, well maybe that's a guy with powers, but the only way to check is if I Chauvet it up, so I did, and you're here." Her cheeks were a little red and sheepish, blending with the generous spatter of freckles on her face. But her eyes lit up when he mentioned like me and friend, and before she could even formulate words her head was already bobbing up and down.
"Oh my god, can we be friends? Please? I'm Chauvet," she said, holding out a gloved hand. "We're friends now, it's decided. Cosmos buddies. Oh my god, we're matching Cosmos buddies." She'd managed to keep it together in front of Hvergelmir because the woman had been so incredibly out of her league, flawless like a statue, but Gravina was blubbering and so Chauvet was going to blubber too, because out of everyone she'd met so far no one had asked if they wanted to be friends.
"Hey, heyyy, don't be sorry," she added softly, jogging to close the distance until they were arms length of each other. She nudged a thumb on his cheek, trying not to be too awestruck with the way he truly glistened up close, like he was from another world. "It's cool. You're so cool. What would you need to be sorry for? It's okay."

Gravina tilted his head, cheeks bright pink from Chauvet's excited banter. Was he really cool? Gravina didn't think so. He was slower than some of the more seasoned veterans despite being, technically, the same level of power. The Page seemed receptive (well, more than receptive) to the idea of being friends, which was a huge relief for the Knight. Gravina's blue eyes followed Chauvet's instant-replay of his journey down to the ground. "Is it?" he asked sheepishly, twiddling his fingers nervously. "It's... I'm not the best at it, you see. I was um... very injured, for a long time. My legs were hurt, so... I'm a little slower than other people. I have to make sure... that I don't twist anything. But, you could do it too! I bet you'd be better at it, actually. I bet you'd simply be great, um... Chauvet? Right? Chauvet? I hope I got that right." The Knight smiled warmly once the distance had been bridged, and was relieved to know that Chauvet was safe and no youma were roaming the campus that he happened to miss. Her thumb on his cheek was gentle and almost familial, which did nothing to stop her being endeared to him. "Matching Cosmos buddies sounds good to me! If... if you don't mind, of course. It's really nice to... have more friends. Especially Cosmos friends. Have you met her? She's lovely, really. And... well, you're pretty cool too, Chauvet. Your dress is lovely. Are you... did you awaken recently? I'm glad someone is here to protect the campus. We can only do so much on our own and everything." Gravina did his best not to fidget under her gaze. Really, she was a lovely person, and kind in a way that made speaking to her come easily. He had much to learn, even if the Knight had difficulty explaining why. Chauvet had already taught him so much.

Slower than other people? Chauvet blinked, wonderstruck. "Dude. No. You don't understand, that was so cool. That was the best thing I've seen in weeks. I fall over my feet all the time, and I've never even broken a leg. If you can do that and you're recovering from an injury? That's--man. That's next level." But she saw something of the distress in his glancing eyes, so her voice was softer, less loud and more gentle. Even if he radiated power, there was something about the knight that suggested that it was maybe time to use kid gloves.
"Pshhh," she grunted offhand about being cool, but she was still smiling, and she wasn't denying it. Who wouldn't feel cool, wearing a dress made of starlight? "We're committed now, dude, you and I. Matching Cosmos buddies. Same jerseys, same team. I love your...tunic thing." She wasn't sure what to call the outfit he wore, but it was undeniably cut from the same cloth as hers. When he asked if she'd met Cosmos, her head tilted. "Wait, Cosmos is a person? I thought it was, like...I dunno, a thing." It was hard to put words to the idea of some space magic that gave Chauvet her ball, and harder still to think of all of that distilled into somebody with a body, a singular person.
"I found the ball a while ago, but I took a break, I guess," she shrugged, glancing away. She wasn't as eager to share the weeks of chaos sickness, the doubts, the idea that all of this had been just dreaming to get away from the house and the grief and the arguments. "But, uhh, here I am, protecting up the campus like a champ."
Her eyes snapped back into focus and she looked up at Gravina with a streak of brilliant determination. "Can you show me? How to do the parkour stuff. Is that a Cosmos thing?"

AMItotic I ADORE CHAUVET MORE, OKAY. DEAL WITH IT. The Knight couldn't help but fidget more under Chauvet's adoration. He really didn't think he was anything special, and blushed furiously with nervous laughter. "I... I guess so? I don't know, I just... try my best, you know? But... thank you. Thank you for being my matching Cosmos buddy. I really appreciate it." It was a sincere smile that followed, for he really did adore meeting more Cosmos Knights. He considered them family. Gravina nodded with enthusiasm, to confirm Cosmos' existence as a real person. "Oh, yes, yes. She's a real person, and is very lovely. Cosmos is also um... well, a thing, like the stars and the universe, but she's also a person. Her duties keep her very busy, but I was blessed enough to meet her once." There was a care and reverence with which Gravina spoke of her, Sailor Cosmos. He sincerely hoped one day that Chauvet could meet her too. She was truly awe-inspiring. With Chauvet's astute comparison to sports teams, Gravina tapped his chin with a finger. "I guess she's like... like... a coach? Well, no, not really. She's usually very busy, but... she arrives when we need her the most. Oh! Maybe... like a senior player who helps win the game when the chips are down?" The Knight tilted his head. He wasn't sure if that was the best comparison. Trying to explain Sailor Cosmos was more difficult than he imagined. "You are a champ! You're really great, Chauvet. Really. But... it's okay to take a break. You have to live for you, too. I think so, anyway." Parkour stuff was another issue Gravina wasn't sure how to tackle. "Parkour... stuff? .....Oh! The jumping? Oh, yes, I can help with that. I've seen lots of knights do things like that, so I don't think it's just a Cosmos thing. Um... we can start with something short? Like... like cars or something?" Gravina had never thought to teach anyone, but the way Chauvet looked at him with those fierce eyes... he couldn't let her down!

Chauvet had never stopped to think that the cause she was fighting for was linked to a person, a singular entity with a face and duties and apparently some mad sports skills. It filled her with a sense of wonder, that the world she was initiated into was infinitely bigger and more complex than she'd initially considered, and if she was like Gravina or Hvergelmir, then she had to be beautiful, which meant Chauvet was already head over heels. She was one hundred percent okay with pledging her duty to a pretty woman who commanded a small battalion of people with immaculate aesthetics.
"Yeah, the jumping thing," Chauvet nodded, kicking off her heels one after the other. She wasn't going to be trying any new moves in those flimsy shoes, aesthetics or not. She gathered her skirts so that they'd be out of the way, then looked between Gravina and the parking garages, trying to think of a suitable first step. "However you wanna teach it, O Sparkle Sensei, I will accept any and all forms of badass training you can dish out. I mean, even, like..." She paused, looking at the landing of a half flight of stairs, then got an idea.
Her eyes set and determined, she broke off to a run in her bare feet, and with ruffles in hand she scaled the entire staircase in a single bound, stumbling to a stop just before the door of whatever advising office she landed in front of. She spun on her heels, giving Gravina a bewildered look that slowly unfolded into open-mouthed glee.

Before Gravina could even consider discussing how ankles could be broken or knees scraped or other injuries incurred, Chauvet was enthusiastically off to jump straight up a flight of stairs. The Knight made to rush after her, just in case she might fall and hurt herself, but Chauvet pulled off the parkour thing flawlessly. With a heavy sigh of relief, Gravina clapped with obvious joy on her behalf. "O-oh, I'm so glad you didn't hurt yourself! You're very good at this already, Chauvet. Um... a natural! Yes." Really, he was incredibly relieved she hadn't bonked her head or slipped and fell. Gravina was more than ready to catch her at the slightest instance of trouble. Even though they barely met, Gravina cared deeply for her, like a sibling. "U-um... I'm not really... badass?" came a hesitant response to her earlier statement. Being thought of as a master or sensei of anything other than Trying Your Best... Gravina felt woefully inadequate. "B-but, you're definitely stronger like this, when you're Chauvet. Um... you know how to sense people, so that's very good! Um, the Negaverse, you see... they're not people to mess with, I think. I really like you, so I'd hate to have anything bad happen to you, Chauvet. Um... would you... like to exchange numbers? Maybe... I know another Knight, too, and we could maybe all patrol together? Safety in numbers, and all that." She probably had a lovely family and a budding career, hopes and dreams and aspirations that should be protected. "Um... Chauvet? Are you hungry? I don't know... what your schedule might be like, but... I brought some snacks, if you need some?"

It was real. Chauvet had really jumped a flight of stairs, and she wasn't even tired. She could probably jump a hundred flights of stairs and not break a sweat. That was so cool. She whirled around to billow out her skirts, her expression wild and grinning. "Oh man, I bet I could bench press one of those giant tires they use for crossfit. Oh my god. Yes, yessssssss, lemme get that numbah, boy."
Her cell phone popped into existence, summoned by her intention, and she nearly fumbled it before she got control of it in her hands. "Okay, so, give me your number and I'll text you, and then we'll be all set." She had to take off one of her gloves to swipe at the screen, holding it under her armpit, but after a few moments she had a new contact set up and ready for his input. She glanced up from her phone, eyes bright. "You know another one? How many of us are there?" There had been so many people at the meeting when she'd first become Chauvet, but she barely remembered any of them wearing all white with gold stars. They were a special breed, Cosmos knights, and a rare one.
"I'm good on snacks," she shrugged, only to have her stomach gurgle in angry protest. She blinked, glanced down, then laughed. "I mean, unless you're really trying to give them away."

"Giant tires they use for Crossfit? O-oh, please be careful. Those are really big! I'd hate to see you hurt, Chauvet." She was a whirl of energy, something Gravina had difficulty keeping up with, despite his best attempts. Chauvet would receive a delayed nod or smile or answer to her question, as though the Knight was just a few seconds behind the energetic Page. He did his best. "Oh, yes, um... there are many! There's um... Michel - he wears purple. Blonde, very tall, he has a... I think it looks like a clock hand, personally. Maybe it is? I'm not sure. And Manu, he's always barefoot. He's my roommate and he's very kind. And Hver... oh, I have such a hard time pronouncing her name, but she's very kind and she looks like Cosmos, too. Her name is very long and I think it's Norse? But it's got so many consonants and... she says it like it's nothing, but... I still have trouble, so I call her Hver. She said that was okay. And there's you, and me, and there are Sailors, too. Some of them... adopted me? Since... I don't really have a blood family?" It was less of a play for sympathy and more of an honest attempt at an explanation. Gravina would be the last person to dig for sympathy from anyone and preferred simply to tell the truth. Contact information shared (with some help from his own cell. Since Gravina didn't ever call himself, he had difficulty remembering his number), the Knight seemed incredibly grateful. "Oh, thank you, Chauvet. I hope... we can be friends, for a long time? You're very nice. I like you--" Her stomach interrupted his thought process, and the Knight smiled warmly. Pulling a small lunchbag from subspace, Gravina began to rifle through it. Several starry stickers adorned it, and the bag itself was well-worn with some faded spots on the corners and permanent creasing in places. "You should never patrol on an empty stomach! Don't worry, I like to give snacks to friends. I have... oh, let's see... protein bars with chocolate, and some cookies - I made them myself! - and some peanut butter and crackers... oh, and a banana. Does any of that sound good to you?"

"Yeah! Normally you just kind of flip them slowly because they're so big, but I bet you could just..." Chauvet licked her lips and made a swinging motion with both arms, like she was throwing a giant frisbee. She nodded along while Gravina listed off names, but was only somewhat paying attention, her eyes following the movement of a couple on the opposite end of the campus green--that is, until she heard Hver, and her gaze whipped around to Gravina once again.
"Oh, I know her!!" Chauvet piped up, collecting her phone from his hands. "She wrote me a note and she hangs out in the park at a gazebo." Her stomach being a more pressing force than the need to be polite or respect personal boundaries, the page leaned in to peek at the contents of the lunchbag. "Oh--uhhhh, let me get at that protein bar," she responded, reaching around him for the item with the crinkliest wrapper. With her arm still looped over his shoulder, she began the process of unwrapping the bar in question, pausing only to blink over him and bite at the bar.
"Oh no, see, now you've fed me, we're friends for at least three hundred years. You're stuck with me now," she said with a cluttered muffle of a full mouth, lifting her phone above them. "First friend selfie?"Lucifer Force HEY WHAT'S UP I'm a trash lord but I figured we could maybe finish out this rp if you'd like???

Gravina tittered and blushed under Chauvet's compliments, scratching at his puffy hair to distract himself from the pink color rising to his cheeks. "Oh, um... I don't think I'm that strong, but... I bet you would be, someday. Probably. I believe in you." The Knight assumed Chauvet would enjoy the increase in her power, though he hoped she'd be careful and not hurt herself. He was about to comment that Hver must be so friendly to know so many people and be so kind, but before Gravina knew it, an arm was wrapped around his shoulders and Chauvet was chewing away at the protein bar. You couldn't learn to exercise your new muscles without having something in your stomach! "Three hundred years?" Blue eyes blinked up at Chauvet. "Really? That's an awfully long time, but... Kind of nice, you know? Nice to know... maybe we can be friends forever. I'd like that very much, actually." The Page lifted her phone and pulled the two of them together. Gravina had never taken a selfie before, and, lacking any idea of what to do, put up a peace sign and a nervous smile. "Just... promise me not to post it? We have those secret identities, after all..."
