Lex would be found on the training grounds this clear afternoon, coat loosely draped over his arm as he watched the other Hunters go to town on dummies and each other. Such skill, poise, grace. Lex wondered if he would ever be at that level.
"I sure hope so, Reggie." Lex sighed, summoning the pistol. It felt comfortable in his hands, familiar. "Or else we're Zombie meat."

"Well, no one wants to be zombie meat," Henry commented idly, even a bit quietly,. He really didn't want to encroach, on the other trainee, but if he was looking for a partner, well, Henry would be that. He'd been getting out there more often, trying to be more comfortable with his weapon. Better with it. He felt like the first few months on the island he'd just been kind of coasting along, and now it was time to step up and prove himself.

Lex's head could have snapped from how quickly he turned it. No one else was there, a second ago. The hell? "Wha-don't just sneak up on people like that." Lex appraised the other person. Blue hair, male, another Hunter. He looked oddly familiar. "Do I know you from somewhere? You look awful familiar..." < Oh, a test in battle? Fight him! I'm sure the FEAR tastes mighty good. > "What? Reggie, the hell are you saying?" Lex shook his head, raising up the gun in his hand. "Regal here says we should 'test each other in battle', apparently?"

"Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you," he said with a smile, apologetic but amused. Henry wasn't exactly stealthy by nature, and certainly not scary. The idea that he'd managed to startle someone was funny to him. "I don't think we've ever met, though." At least not that he could remember. "A mission maybe?" "Regal? Is that your weapon?" He nodded towards the pistol. "We can spar, it's better than fighting the training dummies.". He summoned his weapon, using it to gesture towards the open field. "I'm Henry, by the way."he smiled again as he said it. "Are you one of the junior trainees? The ones that were older, but aren't now?" It was creation that had done it, or so he'd heard.

Oh! “Ohhh...you’re the jokester from Twitter.” Lex nodded, finally putting two and two together. “Or are you one of those people who says and takes everything literally?” Lex’s eyes narrowed briefly, still sizing up the other Hunter. “Seren said something about spars...and yeah, I guess I could use some training.” He nodded, twirling the pistol’s trigger around his index finger. “And double yup - apparently I used to be a 30 year old douche bag, so that’s cool.”

"Sure?" He hadn't been trying to make jokes, but he also wasn't overly literal, so he wasn't exactly sure how to answer that question. Rolling with it seemed to be the safest option. His brows shot up at the so cavalier description of Lex's former adult life, and Henry chuckled, head tipping towards the other young man. "Are you still a douche bag?"

“You’ll have to find that out for yourself, Henry boy.” Lex gave him a jovial wink, and lead the way out to the sparring field. Regal materialized in Lex’s right hand, a flintlock pistol with golden wings replacing the hammer. “I’m still not too great of a shot, but don’t go easy on me.” Even though he’d love for the other Hunter to go easy, Lex knew the monsters wouldn’t. They never did at home. Lex quickly put Henry in his sights and pulled the trigger, wincing at the recoil and noise. HP: 40/40 DMG: 4

The answer left Henry snickering softly as they seperated, and there was still an amused smile on his lips as they turned to face each other. A pistol materialized in Lex's have, and for Henry an oversized throwing star. "Wouldn't dream of it," he shot back, jerking at the impact of the not!bullet striking his shoulder. It was a very clear start to the fight, and the Mist shifted with it, feet spreading for balance, and his grip adjusting on the weapon in his hand. He'd found that throwing like a frisbee was the most effective, and that's what he did now. Body twisting, arm winding up, to send the multipoint star flying at the other boy. HP: 36 DMG: 4 CHG: 1/3

Shock registered on Lex’s face when the throwing star glider against his hip, leaving no cut or blood. That must have been the FEAR shield that he’s been told about. It was surreal, to be sure, not feeling the warmth of blood that should be trickling down his leg. He almost forgot that they were in the middle of a spar. The teen fired a pot shot, attempting to keep Henry at a distance. “So...am I️ supposed to throw this back to you?” HP: 36 DMG: 1 CHG: 1/3

Distance was fine with Henry. He could use Niceven as a close ranged weapon, but they were versatile, and the teen was very thankful for that. It let him figure it out as he went, thinking on his feet. The shot skimmed his left shoulder and he winced, more reflexively than anything else. It hadn't really hurt, not with the shield. He'd glance at Lex, at the question, but baby blues skipped back past the other trainee's shoulder. "Naw, it'll come back." And he lifted his arm hand open and ready. He'd been hoping that it'd whack Lex again on the way back, but sharp tips whizzed past the other boy's ear harmlessly before returning to Henry's outstretched hand. HP: 35 DMG: 1 CHG: 1/3

“Holy s**t!” Lex had ducked down just in time, once he had realized that Henry’s weapon wasn’t going to just rematerialize into The other man’s hand. That would have been a wicked blow, had it connected with more than just his ear. The teen peppered Henry’s feet with blasts of gold hued energy, slightly trembling. “s**t’s getting real, huh?” He smarted, brows raised at the other young man. “Is this how it’s like on the field, too?” HP: 36 DMG: 6 CHG: 2/3

The onslaught of shots at his feet forced Henry to have to dance in place for a moment before he had the sense to move, then he was darting away, circling wide around the other boy. "Yeah, kinda? I mean this is still pretty tame compared to the first mission I was on, that was..." he paused, cringing visibly. "Intense." Really, the second hadn't been a drastic improvement, but it had at last been slightly less chaotic. He threw NIceven again, but this time the star went wide, completely missing the other teen. "Crap." HP: 21 DMG: - CHG: 1/3

Despite the bladed frisbee going wide, Lex still managed to yelp, duck, and roll rather than use the opportunity to fire off more rounds at Henry. Regal scolded him for that. “Missions? I thought us kids weren’t supposed to go on missions?” A confused look crossed Lex’s face, as the teen regained his composure and trained the sights on Henry. “Wait...are you not a kid?” HP: 36 DMG: 0 CHG: 2/3

"Uh, I'm not actually sure? I mean, I've seen some of the junior trainees on missions, but not all of them. Maybe it's optional, instead of mandatory like it is for the rest of us?" He just really wasn't sure. The other question brought a little bit of a flush to pale cheeks, and Henry tried to mask it, or divert attention away from it, by throwing the large star at his opponent again. "I'm seventeen, but I also haven't been here long, and didn't get aged down by Creation." He was just, well, young. HP: 21 DMG: 3 CHG: 1/3

"Huh..." Lex's brows shot high when Henry said he wasn't reverted back to a younger age by the Creation tree. "Did you just not have anythin' going for you back home? No plans for college or nothin'?" Lex's drawl was slipping out again, the adrenaline of the battle telling his brain that masking the accent wasn't at all important. He was no cowboy, and the drawl wasn't so southern that he sounded like a native from Tennessee, but the Old West still tinged many a Las Vegas resident's tongue. Lex would have chided himself for slipping up, but Henry's throwing star did that for him. Lex returned fire on the other teen, aiming for the legs.
