Being bitten by a giant spider is uncomfortable enough, but worse than the sharp pain you feel on impact are the linger effects of the bite. Being bitten can cause nausea, dizziness, fatigue and hallucinations. These symptoms can begin immediately after being bitten or can manifest up to a few hours after the toxins are introduced to the bloodstream. These symptoms may only last for a few hours—or up to 72 hours. You, or someone you know, has the misfortune of being bitten; no medicine seems to help this ailment, so you’re stuck weathering this one out on your own.

Derrick hadn’t realized it, but the spider attack from the ‘Bootanical Garden’ event had lasted a lot longer than he had thought. The next morning as he was watching the news, he was a bit annoyed at how the media had portrayed the whole thing. Sure, some of the figures within the webby mist seemed to be hallucinations, but they acted as if they event just didn’t happen and that it was a gas leak! A gas leak wouldn’t cause acid bites and breaking through the window! As much as he had wanted to complain about it though, he was unable considering that most of the population didn’t know what the Negaverse or what youma were, and if he did complain people would either think he just had a bad dream or was crazy.

And so instead, he had started work like usual. He thought he had seen something red on one of his legs, but he figured he had just hit it somehow in the attack. After all, there was a lot of running around and possibly getting hit by stuff in the hedge maze. It was only after working for a couple of hours that he started to feel sick. First it started with the nausea, which hadn’t been so bad, so he had kept on working. Though a few customers had commented on the color of his skin at this point. However, it was a bit later than that when the owners had sent him home. They had found him, trying to keep a hold of the broom, and swaying a bit, almost like he was drunk. However, the two of them knew he wasn’t much of a drinker and could tell that he was truly feeling sick. Derrick gave a weak protest, but eventually accepted what they were saying, and had been sent home in a taxi cab that the owners had nicely paid for.

He had barely gotten into bed before the Hallucinations started to happen. He knew he hadn’t moved, but he could swear he was on his home planet again. Not in front of the gate this time, but instead near the courtyard that contained the beast. He felt himself walking towards it, though he knew that his legs weren’t moving. Had he really transported without knowing it? No, it couldn’t be, after all, it was an app on the phone that transported them to their home world. How could it happen if he wasn’t powered up and if he hadn’t summoned the phone?

Either way though, he seemed to be here, and from what he could see, there was a darkness surrounding the statue that contained the beast. It was growing stronger. It would be coming back. He felt a chill of fear run down his spine as he could have sworn he had heard growling coming from the statue. He knew he couldn’t handle this, not alone. So, what was it trying to tell him now? Did he need to go back and look to see if there were any ancient texts on how to deal with this thing?

Suddenly, all was black, and he suddenly woke up. He looked at his clock, it was now a day and a half later. He had missed work. But he knew he had gained insight into…something. Something that would need more than just him to destroy for good.
