Webs have begun to appear all over Destiny City at an alarming pace; at first it doesn’t seem like anything to be concerned with—at first. Maybe a web over a window or door frame is the worst you see, but there have been reports of webs that cover a whole tree or even entire cars. The media cites changing weather patterns and, even though you don’t see any spiders, it’s clear you might have a problem.
It had been two days since she'd felt she'd overcome the vicious spider bite on her arm and Julianne Payne had finally, finally decided that her stomach wanted to try food again. Sandwiches, soups - even the most tame of foods she had in her pantries hadn't appealed to her while she'd been sick and they weren't appealing to her now. If she saw another can of chicken noodle soup, she actually might have been in danger of screaming.
So, weak as she was, the blue eyed woman had managed to put on enough clothes to make for an acceptable outfit and grabbed her purse. Colors weren't as peppy as her normal garb nor was her smile as bright as she'd probably have liked but she was making her way outside and that was the important part, right?
When she arrived to her little Beetle, she paused and furrowed her eyebrows. Across the surface of her happy little car were several webs - it would have been comical, the implication that she'd gone nearly a week without driving - if not for the fact she was going to have to now deal with peeling sticky web after web from off the surface of the otherwise clean vehicle.
Sighing, she made her way back into the house and retrieved her broom, adding an additional five minutes of extra work until she cleared away most of the gunky cobwebs from her car.
On the way to the grocery store, she couldn't help but notice the increasing number of cobwebs plastered all across the city. She... she hadn't heard about any of this on the news, but maybe it was just a seasonal thing. Maybe a warmer than normal fall had brought out more spiders than usual... that could be a thing, right?
How else could she explain the park signs, the street lamps, the various vehicles and objects along the side of the road covered in the white, clingy goo?
The grocery store hadn't proved to be much better. When she'd found a parking spot and managed to drag herself towards the entrance, she noticed the silken fabric (was webbing considered a fabric of sorts? Or was it simply goo? Spider bodily fluids, perhaps???) all over the row of lined up shopping buggies positioned for easy access. Easy wasn't a term she would use as hands struggled to pry the closest cart away from the other bunch, their handles all webbed together with the light colored substance.
After wrestling a moment, she managed to free her cart, hurrying her way into the grocery store and hopefully, in turn, further away from the webs that seemed to be overtaking the city. Had they ALL come from the giant spiders? Giant spiders would make for giant webs, she wasn't stupid when it came to that sort of math... but for the sheer number of spiderwebs she was seeing... god.
Julie really didn't want to think about how many spiders it would take to cover the city like it had.
It took exactly twenty-three and a half minutes to finish her shopping, the distance from the issue relieving her heart, just a tad. By the time she made it out to her car with her bags she was even smiling... well. At least until she noticed her car had been completely webbed... again.
