Five minutes later and Lex had just managed to pull all 5' 10" of himself out of the plywood crater in the floor. His leg was definitely sore, banged up, and a little scratched, but not broken. Good thing, he thought, pulling his way too large pants up - a broken leg would make it even harder to escape whoever had kidnapped him.
That was the obvious explanation to waking up in a house he didn't know, with clothes that weren't his, right? And the kidnapper had obviously been stupid, having left a gun right next to Lex... Unless this was some sort of sick game, like the Saw movies. Was he supposed to find a way to free himself? There were usually hints to these games, and Lex just had to find them. He picked the pistol up from where it had landed, examining it, turning it every which way and feeling every crevice. No note, nothing fell out. Just strange runes he hadn't seen before, carved along the hilt and barrel. Some sort of code he was supposed to solve? Lex sighed in frustration, whacking the barrel with the heel of his palm.
Ow.
"Augh!!!" The young man yelped, jumping back. "Who the hell is there!?"

Marcus generally felt, (that was to say; pretty often okay with), helping people get out of messy situation they might have caused to themselves. Sure, there was a line of 'you're on your own due to your self destructive tendencies' but that was something he'd learned only after sorting through the majority of his own. Yet crashing, breaking buildings and the possibility of someone being hurt was a different matter. In such cases the party at fault was irrelevant and his job as a moon was recovery and defense. You trained to respond to these such crisis, and ignoring them was tantamount to betrayal and negligence. Not to mention utterly stupid given all hunters had a responsibility to try an protect human lives. Not that all hunters were good at that aspect of their jobs but hey, thats why moons existed. So hearing a crash in the house, a loud one that was all too loud had him not exactly hesitating to check in on the resident in question. He did at least, knock first. "Lex." He yelled, "you okay?" If he's not you should take his alcohol. I'm sure he has something good. Thank you Dis, I'm sure he'd appreciate that.

Another startled yelp ripped from Lex’s throat before he could think to silence it. Someone shouting, who knew his name. His kidnapper? Since when did kidnappers sound so concerned for their victims, and ask if they were okay? No, this was...just his imagination. It had to be. < You should probably answer that. > “Who are you?!” Lex shouted, less st the voice outside and more at the one in his head. “Why are you in my head?” He whispered.

Now, that did not sound like Lex if just because Lex had gone through puberty already and didn't go around yelling, (usually). Which meant likely some kid (yet another one?) had appeared on the island. Heavy sigh out of the the way, Marcus stood at the door. "It's Marcus Hasan, and if you wouldn't mind opening the door I'd rather not have to force it open." Dis was doing a mental eye roll, asking why they were bothering Lex of all people when they could be bothering someone else. Like Dakota. Or Jason. Or anyone other then one of the men not inclined to likely be taken in by Marcus's good looks. The hunter, even after so many year had nothing so say of the vampires ever present instance on certain things,

"Marcus? Why do you say that like I should know you?" Lex's face pulled into a half sneer, half frown. This was one hell of a ******** up situation. Waves of nauseous confusion and yellow angst washed over his stomach, making it do back flips. There was a strange voice in his head, more animal than human. Some random person was at the door, obviously well meaning but still an unknown, a threat at the moment. < I need you to calm down. This is hard for me, too. > Lex shook his head violently; maybe if he shook hard enough, whatever part of his brain that was loose would fall back into place. "Look, my name's Lex. I think I've been kidnapped. Can you help me?"

Marcus. No Marcus, I am pretty sure- NO. You have to just admit things my Marcus and this is one of those things. ******** you do. Or, you did apparently." Marcus ran a hand down his face as he realized that as Dis had pointed out, this was likely why the kid's voice was almost familiar and why it was coming from Lex's place and why he had no idea who he was. God help him, he and Lex were hardly on speaking terms for the most part, but that didn't mean Marcus wouldn't try to help the man. Or well, boy now, at any rate.
"Look, if you don't open the door- Well. I mean I can kick it in and damage the frame which is a b***h to repair or you open it. But either way I kind of am required to investigate sounds of things breaking. Plus it's better to answer questions face to face. For the record, no, you came here willingly. But you probably don't even remember that do you?"
He sighed again. "You at least have Regal with you? Your weapon?"

< He knows my name!!! > Lex gave the doorway an intensely suspicious look, raising the pistol. The only Marcus the teen knew was an old man who ran a pawn shop next to his mother’s place, and this Marcus didn’t sound like he’s smoked two packs a day for 30 years. But, this Marcus’ tone said he knew what was going on, and had an air of confidence and truth. Lex figured he could trust him, if just a little. “Look man, I have no idea which way is up - but the voice in my head just told me you know his name.” The door handle rattled, Lex’s jittery hands fumbling to open the threshold. When the door finally crewked open, Lex was greeted by a tall brunette with piercing eyes and a stark white coat. The man, Marcus, looked like he could be either friend or foe, but had presented himself nicely so far. The Lex that Marcus was greeted with would be vaguely familiar, like an old photograph damaged by time. His growth spurt had yet to cap out, leaving the boy at 5’10”. His hair was shorter than what Marcus was used to, kept high and tight on the sides, a mop of thick hair left on top. No cut lips, or scarred eyebrows. No mass of red flesh on his chest, no diamond scar on his left ring finger. This Lex carried himself different, too. Less poise and attitude, more attentive and even a little unsure, if Marcus care to really size the boy up. “Where in the hell am I?”

Marcus half expected Lex's stubborn nature would present itself in his younger form by the way of refusing entry out of pure spite. He did not expect a timid door opening, followed the look of a young man who was pretty darn uncertain and had the general look of someone frazzled and discerning if they should have opened the door in the first place. "Lord Jesus." He murmured under his breath. That was- it was Lex, the bone structure was the same, he kid had that same general look about him- it was if he'd gotten smaller and less. Jaded. Less worn down. Being at Deus aged a person in a way outside of physical, and this kid didn't have it. "Well for the record-" A finger pointed at the ceiling. "Up." Then the floor. "Down." Dis burst out into laugher at Marcus's deadpan delivery of the joke. "I'll just- wow. ********." He ran a hand through his hair, clearly not sure what to do and just exasperated. Then- "Well." hands flopped to his sides. "You're at Deus ex Machina Lex. We fight demons, monsters, and stave off the apocalypse. Welcome to the party. Again, I guess."

... “Okay, ******** you.” Lex spat, timidness reppaced by open aggression and frustration. “******** all of you, y’all are assholes.” Lex shook his head, throwing the pistol to the floor and stomping out passed ‘Marcus’ and into the night, holding up his pants with one hand. “Benji, Derrick, Luke, Bryan, get the hell out here ya dicks!” No response, and Lex rounded on the older man. “Alright, fine. You - you’re taking me home, now. This was a funny prank or whatever, but I’m tired of it. Let’s just load into your old pickup that you probably got for a hundred bucks and a six-pack of beer, and hope to God my mother didn’t notice.” Lex stared intensely at the man. Awkward silence for a few moment. < Dude, that hurt. > Lex shouted unintelligibly, stomping the ground in boots one size too big. “Are you ******** joking? How are you getting that voice in my head? Hidden earpiece? Hypnotism?” < I’m very real. You’re hurting my feelings, now. > “Ooooh MY GOD!!!”

Marcus had no idea who Lex was talking about, he assumed his old friends from youth. But the 180 from the timid mouse to brash angry teen was not lost on Marcus. Typical. This was a Lex Marcus at least had semi-experience with. If just in a more adult format. Now it was just..kid packaged. Watching the spectacle de Lex, Marcus held out his hands. "Allow me to be cryptic and creepy. You are home Lex. This is your home. Has been for a few years now. Also considering the fact that out there, you're already legally dead makes leaving all but problematic to say the least. But- hey, be a brat. I have time to kill today." Marcus didn't have the patience for deal with a newly minted kid version of his not friend not entirely enemy however. Time or no time. "That voice that no doubt is in your head-Regal? He is, was a griffin just as my weapon was once a vampire. He is your weapon, bonded to you, as Desidero is bonded to me." Pulling off his earring, it quickly formed into the scimitar, blue ruins glowing with a pulsating light as Marcus shoved it into the ground. "Magic is real and runic, demons and monsters are the shadows you see and now you fight back. Now pick up your weapon Lex. Leaving your weapon laying around is a fast way to ******** yourself over." He smiled. "If you don't pick it up, you might get yourself killed with nothing to protect you after all."

Lex wanted to spit back something in Marcus’ direction, some snide comment or at least a very pointed glare. All Lex could conjure up was disbelief and shock, once the pulsating rune inscribed scimitar cane out. No way that was a handmade prop, and Lex finally had to admit that the voice in his head simply couldn’t be human with the mixed growls and cries of a snow leopard and an albatross. This was all very real, and what Marcus was saying was real. He trudged back over to where the pistol had fallen, and picked it up, gently, reverently. Was that why it felt right in his hands? Lex had heard of muscle memory, sure, but there was something so peculiar about the way his hand fit around the grip. “Regal...” Lex whispered, wide eyed as the pistol dissolved in golden light, then a sudden sharp sting in his right earlobe. Trembling hands felt at the ear, gliding over a new smooth stud, simple and without anybetxhings as far as the boy could tell. Lex looked up at Marcus, visibly shaken again. “Sir, Marcus, uh...Mister? Mister Marcus. I’m sorry about that outburst...” < You should be. > “I just...I dunno where to start.” He sighed, sitting himself on the dusty floor of the entryway. “You’re telling me that I used to- I mean, that I do live here? That I’ve been her for some time? I’m 14, man.” < 15. You had a birthday while we were sleeping. > “15, apparently.” If Lex were a Latina, he’d be considered an adult. That was strange to thing about. “But you say I used to be older? How...how is any of that possible?”

Well, he was starting to get it. At least, a little bit. Leaning on his scimitar, Marcus waited for Lex to get his pistol before pulling his own weapon free. Dis was not happy about the dirt, but did understand why Marcus had done it. 'Looking cool' aside. Lex wouldn't have taken well to the display if the hunter had kept the weapon in a position of aggression in all likelihood. "Hasan." He said with a look of understanding. Lex was coping well so far, but poor guy would probably go into shock later on. "Marcus Hasan. Marcus is fine. I'm a senior hunter here. Moon division- I'll explain in detail later." Man, he didn't want to deal with death and the whole legal s**t this was now. Not that laws ever meant much but kids in the field would be... difficult. "I'm not mad about the outburst. It's rational. You've had a shock and are suffering from something that hit a few other hunters recently as well. Memory loss, age regression, I'm not privy to all the details but from what I understand, it's complicated and not too terrible." He sat down next to Lex, pulling back part of his coat to expose the myriad of scars that had been engraved into the right side of his body. "Like I said, not too terrible." He eyed the pistol then Lex. Poor guy was probably feeling more lost than before. Marcus was never great at this sort of comforting thing. Cass was, but she was out. "Do you remember shadows at least? Things you could see from the corners of your eyes? Things that haunted you and just sort of pervaded your life? Those beings are from another plane of existence. Regal used to be one of them but he was changed to aid us. He can probably add in some blanks, but you were brought here of your own free will. Regal chose you just as you chose to make a stand against those shadows who would harm humanity. We're Hunters- Deus ex Machina. How you've suffered age regression is for you to figure out, but look Lex, I get it. This is a lot to take in." He was really bad at comforting and explaining this stuff. There was a reason he didn't do recruitment missions damn it. "How about we get you some clothes that fit and something to eat? We can start there and get you sorted out on your own time yeah?" Lex was going to have a meltdown if he found out he was almost, well, married not married. 15 all over again. Puberty all over again. Marcus could only sympathize. For young!Lex this was probably nightmarish to say the least.
