You have released the Kraken!
What do you do next? Facing each brave soul who has ventured into the ocean's darkest depths is the very beast of legend, the Kraken whose tentacles stretch for miles, well able to destroy a fleet of ships with its coiling grasp. There is no escape...
Do you try to flee, or do you fight? If you choose to fight, you do so knowing that this thing is tantamount to a God! It has been worshiped by the forgotten village for time immemorial. It will not be destroyed by the likes of you! But perhaps, if you are very brave, and very clever, you may send it back to its lair, or wound it to the point where it will find you a most irritating little fish indeed.
The mer brothers have heard of tales of a trap that might capture the great one, and if you work together, you may just yet succeed in bringing the monster back under its spell, or sending it back to sleep!

Keep in mind that you may play even if you have won a freebie, but you will be ineligible for the prizes! Don't let that stop you if you want to join!
This will have a roleplayed element, so you may count posts that meet the minimum requirements for stats!
You may only win one freebie soq and one freebie familiar in this event.
You have unlimited passes on surprise pets. You may pass only once on a pet that you knew about ahead of time.
Related to above, you may not withdraw from a game that you have entered, so choose your games wisely. However, again, you can play this game without entering to win!
As this is not a judged event, staff may participate!

The Kraken has an unspecified amount of hit points that I will be tracking, and if you manage to bring those points down, the event will close in certain ways! Please be aware that as the creature is nearly a god you will not be able to kill it. In other words, it may show its waggly tentacles in the future! But depending on what you all choose to do, and what damage you're able to do, you may be able to trap it, send it back, or put it to sleep!
Please roll 1d20 and use the chart below!
If you roll a 1, you will not only be unsuccessful, but you will also lose hit points! Everyone is starting off with 20 hit points a day. You may roll 10 times per day until the game ends on the 30th!
Results:
You strike at the Kraken, and your strike misses so spectacularly that you actually wound yourself! Take -5 hit points.
You miss the Kraken, narrowly avoiding death within its maw! It grazes you as you squirm free. Take -1 hit point.
As you move to attack the great beast, it grabs you up in its tentacles! You are winded, and momentarily stunned. Subtract one roll from your total.
You miss the Kraken completely. It waggles its tentacles at you almost in mockery.
While speeding toward the Kraken, you overshoot your mark, and your hit does not connect.
The Kraken sends you spinning away, flinging you from its great tentacles. Subtract one roll from your total.
Nothing happens.
You miss, the Kraken is moving too fast.
You're so close, and you nearly swipe the Kraken as you veer away from its maw.
This is it. You have been caught by the Kraken, but in letting you close, it is making itself vulnerable to you! You are able to swipe its tentacle, and do 5 points of damage to the Kraken!
The Kraken was distracted by someone else, and you managed to get a hit on one of the larger tentacles. It takes 10 damage.
As it moves over you, the Kraken exposes a weak spot, which you exploit. It takes 15 damage.
There is a break in your cover, and the Kraken notices you! Your efforts to attack are suddenly turned into an attempt to escape its hold.
In unison, you and another fighter attack the Kraken as it grabs up one of the villagers. Between the two of you, you are able to do 20 damage!
You are swept away by one of the Kraken's arms, and spend the next several minutes swimming frantically back. Subtract one roll from your total.
This time you are able to take the Kraken by surprise, and you get a good hit on the Kraken's side. It takes 25 damage.
Apparently the Kraken has fought someone like you before, as it knows how to counter your every move.
The Kraken devours a villager, spurring you to action. Whether shocked or simply defiant, you do 5 damage.
It seems to realize what you have in mind, but is not quite quick enough to stop you from getting one good kick/slap in. It takes 10 damage.
With all your might, you lay into the Kraken, determined to fell the terrible beast! Surprised by your relentless attack, it moves back, and right into the path of another's attacks. It takes 30 damage.
