It’s fall and pumpkin spice is everywhere. A local coffee shop has some great new recipes and there’s been a lot of buzz about it—only, if you’ve indulged you may find yourself with some unusual side effects. Due to some very defective pumpkins (and who knows what else), pumpkin spice lovers are suffering from nausea, vomiting and—perhaps worst of all—your skin has turned orange on top of it all. Thankfully the discoloration and illness seems to wear off within a few hours, but you probably shouldn’t go back for a second cup.
Perhaps it was because she was uneasy at being labeled yet another basic white girl as the stereotype went, but she'd never actually tried pumpkin spice stuff before. That is, beyond the pumpkin spice mix that was used in pumpkin pie. The fact they weren't actually one in the same had slightly horrified and upset her when she'd found out, adding to her lack of interest in the stuff.
But of course, working at a coffee shop at DCU meant that pumpkin spice was the thing that everyone ordered--regardless of gender, sex, skin color, creed, and so on, so really screw the stereotype. It was impossible to not eye it curiously and wonder if maybe it would be worth the taste. Even if it wasn't made with actual pumpkin, if all that chatter online was legit.
Cassie had already filled Alec in on what had happened at the Bootanical Garden, though she'd been lucky apparently to not get the icky effects of getting bitten by the giant spiders. Good thing. Enough of her co-workers were out sick, and she'd been working herself ragged trying to keep up on shift while juggling extra hours and her school work and trying to keep track of the increasing insanity around the city.

Such were among her texted complaints to him throughout her shift between crazy waves of customers, cleaning up after them, and trying to call in other people to help cover shifts. Though she still had mixed feelings about finding out the guy she was kinda sort of dating was, in fact, a senshi, there was a high relief about just being able to talk to someone about it all.

Heading home!!
Trying the new pumpkin spice latte

Let you know if it's good or if these customers are crazy lol
She'd gotten about halfway home before she started feeling a bit nauseous and regretting her choices. She'd barely gotten through the door of her apartment when she got sick, clinging to the sink in the kitchen. By the time she dragged herself into the bathroom to clean up and change into clothing that didn't smell like coffee and pumpkin spice and work, and saw her reflection?
Well, anyone would scream bloody terror by that point, right?
NEVER DRINKING THAT s**t AGAIN

Cassie groaned as she curled herself up in the fluffiest, warmest blanket she could find, underneath a hoodie and various long layers, all trying to ignore how every bit of her skin was now orange. She looked like the walking carrot President.
"I'm never getting a spray tan. Ever. I'll stick to burning," she whined to the TV, plunking a little trash bin lined with an empty plastic bag down beside her in misery. A cup of water sat before her, though she wasn't sure she trusted her stomach to even keep that down.
