Quote:
While making your way through Destiny City, you wind up taking a path you’ve never taken before. Maybe you’re following directions, maybe you got lost, maybe you were just looking for a shortcut—things were going good, until you wind up needing to pass through a graveyard. It seems normal enough—until you pass by a grave and get powerful chill down your spine. When you stop and look at it, you see the gravestone has your name; beneath it, your birthday and today’s date. If you leave and return, the gravestone remains, but the name and dates look like they’ve been clawed off.

Alphubel really wasn't sure why he was here again. Sure, he knew why he was out and such, after all patrol wasn't going to just happen by itself and for some reason October just seemed to bring out all of the real monsters, but he wasn't sure why he was specifically in a graveyard. He had started out staying to himself in the less busy parts of the city, though that hadn't been too hard since it seemed that the citizens in Destiny City somehow just knew that going out during October at night was a bad idea.

Honestly he should have been inside studying or at least concentrating a bit more on his school work than he had been, but midterms had been over for a bit and he hadn't been able to even study when he just knew there were people getting hurt outside at night. It also gave him a reason to actually use his powers, at least more than he had during the summer. And his outfit was favorable more towards cold weather anyway.

So while the chill of the wind blew past him he barely felt it with his warm outfit on, but being around all of the graves sent a different sort of chill down his spine, and he wasn't sure if there was actually something to be worried about, or just the fact that it was a graveyard. Either way, he had felt something from here and had wandered over this way. He looked around the graves for a bit, admiring some of the more expensive ones, when one of them caught his eye, and he went a bit closer to it. He had seen this one the night before, and he had tried to stay away. After all, a gravestone with your name and that days date was beyond creepy. But he couldn't get past it. He had to come back, and so here he was, really regretting the fact that he was here, before taking another good look at the stone and... there were claw marks! He glared at it a bit. Either it was a very good trick, or there was something here he really didn't want to have to face!

Her jogging adventure in civilian form having not turned out quite the way that she had expected, ghosts and all, Pythia had been forced to consider her variety of non-options. She could join a gym? Too pricey, some nights she could hardly afford to eat out. She could use the free gym in the neighborhood? Someone she knew might see her making a fool of herself. There might be a gym at school, but that went back to someone seeing her. Plus, the redhead no longer had anything to wear should she decide to take a risk on going out in public to try and get in shape. The outfit, that she had found for so cheap? That neon pink piece of terrycloth-feeling nastypants, and the accompanying hideously bright highlighter yellow monstrosity of a top had been trashed. She had seen a ghost or something crazy while wearing them; lord knew seeing it again was the last of the things on her mind.

So it was as Imbrium that she had gone searching for someplace new that she could exercise, someplace to stretch her legs so that she could try and at least pretend she was going to be taking this Page-Knight of So and So thing seriously. And she might, too. The starseed that she had retrieved (read as been given) by the odd Negaverse agent... Susan's starseed... still lurked about in her memories when she least expected it. She had lurked there, once or twice, looking at the girl who had been inches from death, smiling at her parents through the window, watched her peer nervously out into the darkness as if she expected the bogeyman to come and get her. Honestly, the Page couldn't blame her for the hesitation. She hadn't lost her own starseed, of course, but... it was a soul. The way the girl had held her chest, winced up at her crying parents.

So it was ironic, that as she was thinking of death, she passed into a graveyard. Great. Graveyards at night, this close to Halloween? She wasn't superstitious, but there were always college students looking to set up a good prank or three. Oh well. She wasn't wheezing too terribly at this point in her jog, but she still slowed down. Tripping over a gravestone wouldn't be any fun, and she was mannerly enough to not like the idea of walking on someone's grave. She wouldn't want someone walking on her own. There was someone else she could see in the distance- could feel, actually, and she began to move towards them, her hand flopping lightly over the graves she passed. Names- Aaren Cass, Trivoli Shelby, Navdeep Min, Kenzie Guo, Reagan Tinashe, Pythia Adler.

Pythia What Now? The redhead froze, pausing, staring at the stone. Pythia Adler, born October 31, 1996. Died... today. Ahahaha. What? She swallowed hard, one hand going up to her chest. Starseeds. How long could you survive without them? What- this wasn't just some usual joke, and her name wasn't... she was the only Pythia Adler on facebook, okay? That said a lot. This wasn't just the usual name. And like hell this oddly-timed prophecy was going to happen. Who? How? What?! “Hi,” she said after a moment, calling out to the other figure, eyes still fixed on her name. “Fine night, isn't it?”

Would he be the one to kill her? Good lord, what was she thinking? She was clearly losing her mind.

Alphubel was broken out of his thoughts at the sound of someone else speaking, and he looked where it came from. Surprisingly it was a page! And one he had totally missed! The knight aura was comfortingly familiar, and he smiled, glad that someone else was here. Though over all of it, there was still something else...

He walked towards her, trying not to scare her. "Uh, hi! It's... well I wouldn't call it a 'fine' night considering we're both in a graveyard looking at the same grave." He managed to get over the temptation to look at it again. "This gravestone is weird. It had my name and the date of a few nights ago as my death date and now... it has claw marks on it. Weird right?" Might as well make this weird meeting even weirder.

"Well," she drawled, staring at her name on the grave, "I normally don't mind graveyards, but I think you have the wrong headstone." she gestured to the one she was looking at, which still seemed to bear her own name and... "Though it's good to know you've shared my experience and survived it."

An arm extended, gesturing to her name. "My name, my date of birth, and I apparently die tonight." she shudder that ran down her spine was visible, and she'd put money on no one blaming her for it. "No claw marks yet, though. I guess that means I'm still ripe for the picking." Not a pleasant thought, actually. "Imbrium of Castor. You are?"

Alphubel looked at the gravestone she gestured at, but he was sure that it was the one that had had his name on it before that had been scratched off. "I could have sworn..." He muttered, glaring at the headstone a bit before turning his attention back to the girl. "That's what it said on mine. But whatever is going on... it is not good." He could have sworn he felt a dark aura nearby, but everything seemed so dense and clouding in this fog, it was hard to tell.

"Oh! I'm Alphubel, squire of Polaris. I don't believe I've ever met a knight of Castor! Your outfit is pretty cool!" His wasn't, at least in the literal sense. But it helped with the cold fog that was out and about tonight.

"Magically haunted tombstones. Great. I've got 99 problems and magic is 110 of them." Her red head fell forward, onto her hand, fingers massaging the bridge of her nose. And then here she was, a magical girl, pointing cheerfully at a gravestone with her civilian name on it and...And they were both standing on her own grave, and she wasn't too fond of that either.

"Nice to meet you, Alphubel." she dropped her hand, holding it out to the man instead of gripping her nose with it. "I haven't met many knights before at all, exactly. I'm a little lost on the ins and outs. So I guess Polaris isn't just a star, but it's a prince too? Um... like Castor is supposed to be a person?" A guy, or something, if her information from Lacedaemon was on point. She took a step off her grave, moving around to the other side, not exactly wanting to see it anymore. Her name. Today's date. It was just too much creep factor for her.

"I'm kind of dreading this outfit come winter. I can't imagine it'll be that great on my Wonder, either, if it's anything like the one I went to before."

Alphubel wasn't sure, but he could have sworn he heard something. He unhooked his lantern from his side, making sure to have it in his fingers. Unfortunately since it relied on magic he couldn't keep it on for too long, but in case he wanted to take a quick look around, he figured having it out would be a bit helpful.

He smiled at the page. "It's okay, I've met some and even then it seems like we're pretty disconnected. From what I've learned about Polaris knights, we were a lot like diplomats, which sort of has me thinking that maybe I could help start a group or something that would help knights to feel more connected to each other. But I don't know how I'd go through with it. But uh, we have a princess instead of a Prince!" He gave her a sympathetic look at the mention of her outfit. It was too bad that they couldn't actually choose what they could wear. After all, his outfit had been dreadful in the summer. Not impossible, but not something he wanted to be exerting a lot of energy in.

Okay, this time he was SURE that he heard something, and immediately put his lamp up to see if he could tell where it was coming from. "You hear it too right?"

At least she wasn't alone in that strange, disconnected feeling she had when it came to other powered people. "Lacedaemon gave me some basics, so that was fun." She'd promised to never lift a hand against him- unless he struck her first. It still bothered her, as one of the oddest oaths she had ever been asked to take.

"Ah." A princess was a nice thing. Good, equal power roles. "Does she meet you?" she asked curiously. "Like, come and say hello? Or does she not know you are around unless you happen upon each other?" It was a question that had bothered her about her own prince, somewhat. Did he not know? Did he not care? Was he still her prince, if there was no way for her to really be a knight to her wonder?

But Alphubel seemed rather distracted, and she tilted her head, brow furrowing. She'd heard- a sound, and close, like- claws ripping along stone. It sent a shudder down her spine, and she gripped her frisbee tightly, lips thinning. "I don't like the fact that-" it sounded like it was coming from the other side of her 'tombstone'.

Alphubel wished he had had a trainer. So far though he had only met knights that had wanted to talk rather than actually train him, though he had needed those talks. "I actually haven't ever met her. Apparently she hasn't been communicating with us for a while." Or at least that's what Delphi and Sutai had said. He kind of missed not being able to see who was in charge of them and who they pledged their loyalty to the most.

However, it seemed that they had both heard the sound that was coming from the grave, and as soon as Alphubel shined his light on it, he could see a horrible, grisly creature, it's hand looking like it's claws were made of stone and steel, and dragging itself out of the grave. He almost threw down his lantern at the sight of it, but managed to keep a grip on it, he knew it would be hard to get back if he tossed it.

"****!" Alphubel didn't cuss often, so when he did, it usually was an uncontrollable reaction to something. The other reaction may have been to flail a bit, as he sent out one of his legs, hitting the creature. Luckily, it's head didn't seem to be as hard as the rest of it.

Pythia might have wanted to carry on the conversation of Princes and Princesses and abandonment issues that were probably growing rife in the population of pages and knights, but there was a small problem. A problem that was crawling out of her grave. And hells to the no that Pythia Adler was going to die to come corpse with creepy-a** bag-lady fingernails, no thank you. She'd maybe kill it with its own bag lady hands. Good lord was it ugly. And it seemed her companion was already on it.

He cursed loudly, foot jerking outward and kicking it in the head. Unlike her, however, he seemed to have shielded feet. What did she have? Bracers. Gripping her Frisbee, Imbrium mounted her tombstone and swung downward with her weapon, aiming to beat the grisly little zombie thing in the head with her shitty little plastic toy. Hopefully magical bracers offered some protection, at least for her lower arms. "F-ck you," she told it (shrieked it), smashing at its face, "Stay dead!"

She glanced at the other page. "Is that lantern actual fire? Or just magical light? Cause this thing needs to go back to the other si-" oh s**t, she was gonna lost her balance, she was gonna fall. Fu-fu-fu- AH!

Alphubel was surprised when Pythia got on the tombstone and started beating the zombie. She was braver than he was! It embarrassed him a little as a squire being out-braved by a page, but that was just something he needed to work on. Unfortunately he could see that she didn't have much to protect her, something that he thought was unfortunate for the page considering what type of armor Castor knights usually had, and went over to help her.

He grimaced as she asked her question. "Unfortunately it's just magical light-!" He said, his reply interrupted by Pythia losing her balance. He grabbed her arm, hoping that he would be helping her back up, instead of perhaps giving her a broken arm or a large scrape instead. He used one of his feet to take another whack at the zombie. It seemed unrelenting. "Ugh, still haven't quite figured out how to kill youma exactly, and now zombies?!"

Alphubel managed to catch her, though she fell far enough forward that one of the claws scraped over her bracer as she flailed- almost but not quite grazing her flesh itself. His grip would probably bruise later, but it was better than the alternative result of her crazy little stunt. "Magical light?" she repeated as he helped haul her back up, smashing her frisbee at a zombie eye. "Well what's the magic part about it? I could make a lantern, it's got to do something else?"

He kicked at the creature, and Pythia started smashing at its head again. "It's a zombie, right? Double-tap. Just- hit it in the head until it stops movie. Most the zombies in those horror movies need head-shots and stuff, right? And it's not out of the grave yet. Once it's out, I'm running. Not sure what you plan to do. I'm not planning on dying tonight, thanks." Her frisbee hit into the zombie again- and got stuck, in the eye socket. "I- I think I might need to run before then, actually."

Alphubel let out a quick sigh when he caught Pythia and got her back up without doing anything horrible. Maybe he was getting a bit better at all of this? "Uh... well it causes enemies to be confused, that's about it." He replied, hearing the zombie cry out as Pythia smashed its head. He gave a quick look of disgust though when the frisbee got caught in the... eye socket of the zombie.

Before he realized what he was doing, he smashed his lantern over the zombie's head a few times. He wasn't really sure if the lantern could take the beating, but he couldn't think of anything else to do at this point, perhaps besides kicking it.

However, the zombie also seemed to be slowing down... hopefully. He only wished it wouldn't be one of those jump scares where one would think that it was dead before it suddenly came back to life and bit them or something. Bending down, he managed to grab the frisbee, thank goodness he was wearing gloves, and force the frisbee out, a "schwurk" noise following it as it came out.

Unfortunately it seemed to have some... eye socket goo in it. "I... got your frisbee? But running sounds like a good idea."

"Well I guess that's still more useless than a frisbee," Pythia admitted generously, "And it kind of has range, so you can stand back and bash zombie heads in?" Or any heads in. Pythia wasn't sure using a lantern (or a Frisbee) to beat in heads was exactly what the people who gave them their magic had in mind, but one had to work with what they were given. If their magic was going to give them shitty weaponry, they'd have to make do.

He bent over, passing her back her zombie-moistened disc, and the disgust was clear on her face as she regarded it in his hand. Unlike him, she was not wearing gloves, and the redhead actively recoiled from the offering, shaking her head vigorously. "Just stuff it in the other eye socket," she suggested to the knight, and shifted off of the headstone, planting both heeled shoes firmly on solid ground. "I'd say lets split up. It can't get us both, right?"

Unless there was more than one of them, and that was something she didn't much want to think about. Having one crawling out of her grave was one too many zombies for Pythia. She just didn't have the constitution to handle all this magical bullshit. "I'll get a replacement Frisbee, probably, right?" It was a stupid question- and one that probably wouldn't get an answer, if she kept backing away from the zombie (and the other knight) the way she was.

Running was the best idea, really, and her wild-eyed look between man, zombie, and gore-coated weapon... Yeah, nope.

Alphubel wasn't surprised that Pythia didn't want her frisbee back. If he hadn't had gloves on, he probably wouldn't have even gone after it. "I just hope my lamp would be able to take the beating." He replied, giving her a small smile, before getting away from the zombie. He wasn't too sure about splitting up, after all, wasn't that how people were usually killed in horror movies? However, he wouldn't question her. Even if she was just a page, he would defer to her judgement first before his own.

He gave her a small nod. "Okay, just... be careful." He was sure that her frisbee would disappear as soon as she powered down, which would give him a sign that she had gotten home safely... hopefully. "You go that way and I'll go this way." It wasn't in the direction of his school, and he would be running away from it a bit before heading back, just in case there was... something else. "I uh, hope to see you again!" He said, giving her a wave before running off.
