Prompt - The Clone
It seems like a normal day, considering all the odd happenings you can usually expect from Destiny City. The weather’s great, the people are tolerable, and everything’s going fine. You are out, enjoying the good fortune, when you catch a familiar face in the crowd: yours. They are wearing your clothes, your face, and you see them for only a second but a feeling of dread floods through you. They smirk, like they know they’ve won—and then you lose them in the crowd. No matter how hard you look, you can’t find any sight of them, but a feeling of dread and being watched follows you for the rest of the day.
Every since Acubens had run into him that fateful night in the park, Destiny City had seemed to take on a plethora or paranormal activity. He had had the fortune to avoid the crazy parts of town and enjoy a mostly normal life until that point. In the span of about half a year though, things had really turned on their head. Mirrors were going crazy, they saved the Earth, and October brought with it many new horrors for all the citizens of town.
Today though, things weren't going so bad. He woke up in a fairly good mood, shared a few quick texts with Nischal, and he didn't have to work that day. Bonus, it was a Saturday so no classes either. After everything that had happened lately, he really felt the need for a 'me' day. He had his guitar on his back and was dressed to fight off the cold weather that he was sure to find out on the water. He planned on taking his sailboat out that day and enjoying the waves, coming up with some new inspiration for his music. First stop, some coffee and a donut.
As he was exiting the coffee shop though and heading toward the crossing that would lead him to the marina where his boat was docked, a familiar face caught his attention across the way. He nearly dropped his coffee when he spotted himself smirking at him. As far as he knew, he didn't have a secret twin out there somewhere. As much as he wanted to give chase, as the figure disappeared rather quickly, the signal was holding him back.
The second the little walking man appeared though, he bolted across the street, pushing past people that rudely told him to watch where he was going. He didn't have time to worry about them, he had to find whoever that was. A sense of dread washed over him as he tried to look for the figure again, but to no such luck. What were they planning to do with his face? Who were they?
Well, his day was surely ruined, as much as he felt the calling of Voyager out on the waves, there was no way he could just sit back and hope nothing bad came of what he just saw. It would probably be a wise idea to stay close to people he cared about for the day, incase his doppleganger decided to make an appearance around any of them. Briefly he wondered if this had anything to do with Mirrorspace, but as far as he knew, aside from the Senshi themselves, it didn't have much of an effect on the outside world. Could it spawn an exact clone of him? There was no reason for Mirrorspace to attack him either...
Ugh, what a waste of such a beautiful day. Instead of taking his boat trip, he went to his Mom's work and decided to help out for the day. At least this way he could keep himself busy, though he found himself checking around corners and trying to shake off the feeling of being watched. he couldn't help but be suspicious every time he heard the bell ring as new customers came in.
By the end of the day he had seen no sign of his doppelganger and no one had sent him an angry text or call either. Maybe he had just been seeing things, but it had all seemed so real.
